Presuming she was the manageress she came over as unwelcoming, brusque and frankly rude. Had to sit in the doggy area even though place was empty as we wanted a comfy seat before eating but didn't give us chance to say this. Service slow and we had to go to the waitress to ask for our food selection...food well presented. Upon leaving she didn't say thank you but shoved us onto another member of staff for payment. We were looking at booking Christmas day here but no chance of that!! No customer service.

The food was uninspiring, the pulled pork burger was inedible by hand, its was mush with flavour on a soft bun which turned it into more mush. Lacking in fries for an extra £4 The BLT was lacking in content and very small portion of fries again for an extra £4 Just to add a large wine is £9.50! I’m sorry but no thanks 🙂↔️

Been here maybe 20 times now, this visit is the first in almost a year and I'm afraid to say, down to nothing but the cost, it will more than likely be more than a year before I return! £3.95 a large pepsi, £28 for a £7 bottle of Zinfandel, almost £6.50 a pint of peroni!! The worlds gone mad, the menu is the same menu year after year and whilst the food is always top notch, there needs to be some new dishes for variation at the very least, there's no personality behind the bar ever and the 9 tokens I earned this evening could not be used to give me £12 off my £309 bill, you have to use them on the next visit, are you for real. Great food, service was quick this time but lacking any personality from the staff as usual, prices of drinks are absolutely a disgrace I'm afraid! Will go down to the Red House nr Lilleshall next for better value I'm afraid.

Have been here previously and had a good experience but tonight were welcomed on entry and pointed to the table we had booked and had to walk through and find it ourselves. No offer to get drinks for us so went to the bar. Beer we received was unfortunately tainted so we took it back and I was replaced. These things happen and it was dealt with....or was it.....we then were confronted by the same person who didn't take us to the table telling is there was nothing wrong with the beer. It tasted like cleaning chemicals. This gentleman seemed to be intent on making it known he thought we were wrong. We have drunk that beer many times and know it does not normally taste like it tonight....like it had cleaning chemicals / vinegar...no way could you drink it. Was very tempted to leave before eating but did eat as we did not know anywhere else we could go in that area. Food was fine but nothing to write home about. Some of the waiting staff were very pleasant.

Funny smell on entrance not sure if this was because we came in past the toilets but the smell of wee did seem to linger around the restaurant. Service was very slow and staff seemed very unattentive, considering there was so many of them. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt, to the point of darkest brown before turning black and as for the green vegies, I don't think they even made it into boiling water as cutting through a piece of broccoli required a steak knife. The beef was also chewy and disappointing. What's more disappointing is that when you highlight these problems to the staff there reaction is to do sweet FA. Definitely won't be coming here again!

A disappointing second visit with our son on Sunday 23rd June 2024 . ( I have left our original post below to be fair to The Fox and Hounds ) My wife and I both had disappointing food . I had an overcooked Steak and Onion Pie with a partially dry and very tough pastry lid. My wife had a very fatty sirloin steak . Both our meals were accompanied by very dark chips - we did say about them to the staff and they said it was because of the type of potatoes that had been used . ( although some of my wife's were burnt and they did offer to replace them with the stick chips that accompanied our sons burger) Our son did enjoy his burger but we were very disappointed with the quality of food compared to our previous visit . My Wife and I visited The Fox and Hounds for the first time on Sunday 19 May 2024 for an early evening main meal . We had been out for the afternoon and called in without booking and luckily managed to get a table. The interior is much bigger than it looks from the outside . As you enter a 'greeting station' is positioned to welcome you and take you directly to a table . The large bar is directly in front of you with many areas to the left and further space to the right . The Fox and Hounds is labelled as a 'Gastro Pub' and the majority of the business appears to be food led although they do have a number of pale real ales on offer. ( 5 when we visited) The staff were very friendly and we were amazed at how active the staff were . ( We have visited other places on a Sunday and waited whilst staff have a chat with each other or figure out how systems work) Here staff seem to be well trained and have a customer care focus . We had a main meal with a thought of possibly having a dessert afterwards . My wife had a well flavoured and prepared sirloin Steak cooked to her liking . I did think about having a steak pie but was advised that it was a ' peppered steak' pie sso it would be ' hot'. I decided to have a Macaroni Cheese with garlic bread and salad - a lovely pleasant meal on a warm spring day. The Fox and Hounds is a calm and relaxing food based restraunt/ bar . We were both impressed on our first ever visit and would like to revisit.

Having dined here many times previously over several years, our most-recent visit was very disappointing. Food: The prices were high (e.g. £29.50 for a sirloin, £17.50 for fishcakes and £18.50 for ham, egg and chips). I ordered a half-pint of prawns that - on arrival at the table - was only 66% prawns (the rest being a bed of lettuce). The sharing platter ordered by my wife and daughter (the former of whom has a chili intolerance) had some chicken popcorn that was coated with chili sauce - no mention of that on the menu. The fried haddock and popcorn chicken were very oily/greasy. The rest of the platter was 'fillers' gherkins, dips and chunky bread. Not very good value. On the plus side, the pate and ham were nice. We did bring the prawn and chicken popcorn issues to the attention of our waitress and it was quickly remedied. Service: Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Our food arrived quite quickly after ordering and, as mentioned above, the short-changing on the prawns and popcorn chicken issues were dealt with quickly by providing the advertised amount of prawns and some uncoated popcorn chicken. Ambience: Nicely decorated inside and out with some interesting 60's/70's memorabilia dotted here and there. Facilities: Spotless. Overall: An okay experience, but let down by the prices, quantity and quality of most of the food.

Having been to the F&H a few times I was looking forward to what I have enjoyed before that is Fish and Chips. My wife and I were only there for one course she wanted to go shopping! Sadly the Fish and chips was disappointing. The batter was strangely light in colour and rather hard to penetrate, the haddock was also very small compared to the last time. Whilst not enough to complain it will be awhile before visiting again however the beer was great and service excellent.

We have visited the Fox and Hounds dozens of times over the last couple of years. A large proportion of the staff are brilliant however they are consistently let down by remarkably rude and unwelcoming staff members, with their service deteriorating rapidly when the venue is slightly busy. The Fox and Hounds has a reputation amongst numerous local circles of poor service and it is one of the first things mentioned when the Pub comes up in conversation. The tipping point for posting this review was my family feeling uncomfortable about requesting a glass of tap water at the bar for our child. The interactions with the bar staff during evening made us feel uncomfortable to ask for more this basic request. This is a real shame as the venue has a large proportion of welcoming, engaging employees let down by a select few who are always put out to receive your custom and hard earned money. On a positive note, the kitchen consistently delivers good food from a varied menu that is perfectly suitable for the price range. The kids menu is consistently a hit.

Food was great, service forgetful in moments. All our food was lovely, hard to take a chef out for a meal anywhere 😅 but he said this was the best pub we’ve been to. And compliments to the chef the evening we went because it was lush! Even our little girl loved the food and ate it all! Very rare for that! So we left happy. A little pricey but felt like money well spent. Read previous comments about children not welcome, I didn’t feel that at all. And on our experience this was not the case. Had a great time! We’ve recently returned as dinners to the Fox & Hounds as the standard of food and service has much improved from a spell it went through a year or so ago. Our Valentines Day lunch was excellent and the chef deserves praise for his/her culinary skills and presentation. The service was also much improved, due mainly to the new waiting staff that we observed. We agree with some previous reviews that prices here are a little on the high side but quality often does come at a price.

The food was amazing . Well done to the chef's involved in making our meal and thank you. Service is not so good. We were taken to our seat and told someone would come and take our order in a few minutes. We waited 20 minutes and then I went to find someone. This person looked like a manager. I was told that because they were busy and that there were tables full of people waiting for their meals so we would just have to wait.. He also, then spent 5 minutes explaining to be how it was the busiest time and that everyone always wants to eat at this time of the evening. Then he told me all about the chef who would get really cross if they were to all take orders to him and that it would be mayhem in the kitchens. This really wasn't what I wanted to be told . A simple "Oh, I'm sorry. I will send someone over to take your order soon as they are free. " Or even himself taking the order would have been efficient. But all he did was to tell me that he was one of these managers that doesn't like to get his own hands dirty and to wonder around handing out orders to the young staff who were trying their best. So a note to the management is not your staff that lets you down. it's yourself.

I dined at this establishment for dinner on 12/01/24, and my overall experience was quite disappointing. Despite having made a reservation, our initially assigned table was located in the bar area. Upon addressing this issue, we were moved to another table, albeit one close to a loud group of youngsters. We proceeded to order our starters and mains—specifically, I chose the Sticky Barbeque Pork Belly Bites and Lamb Shank, while my wife opted for the Soup of the Day and a Turkey dish from the specials. The Sticky Barbeque Pork Belly Bites were disappointingly basic, consisting of simple belly pork with a cheap barbecue table sauce poured over them. The soup, unfortunately, was rather unremarkable. To add to the dissatisfaction, our main courses arrived within five minutes of finishing our starters, leaving us with little time to socialize. While my Lamb Shank was acceptable, as lamb shank tends to be a reliable choice, my wife's Turkey dish was marred by an excessive amount of garden peas and an overall lack of flavor. Regrettably, this visit ranks among the worst dining experiences I've had, and I have no intention of returning. The food, in my opinion, is overpriced for what can be considered basic pub fare. The rushed service and overall disappointing experience make it difficult for me to recommend this establishment. In summary, it was an overpriced, rushed, and ultimately unsatisfying expenditure amounting to £84.

However there was no vegetarian choice, only two hot options a burger or casserole, as is sadly common I was offered the vegan menu. I am vegetarian and love dairy so the vegan menu is as appealing as the meat menu. I ended up with a lunch time ciabatta for my Christmas meal out.

Another excellent meal 6 of us celebrating a birthday and the staff, food, and ambience was all very conducive to a lovely few hours of relaxation. Good place to have a meal and they kindly agreed to a special request for a long time favorite dessert, for a change the type of restaurant that understands service.

This was our first midweek/midday meal back at the F&H’s after a couple of years, our absence being due to its usually high standards dropping significantly at that time, and what a pleasant surprise it was. The service was impeccable and the meals received were cooked to perfection by an obviously very talented chef, under what must have been some considerable pressure, as every table was occupied.

Same menu for years - yes there is a specials menu in addition to it. Miserable lad serving. Friend mistook chicken burger for a breaded one (her fault, as didn't read description) the greasy battered one is not nice - why batter a chicken burger!. My steak burger totally uninspiring and boring. Fish and chips was good. Was looking forward to our visit as haven't been for a long time. Won't be bothering for another couple of years - sorry!

We had a wonderful meal out last night for my birthday at the Fox and Hounds. The staff were very accommodating, all the food was delicious with good sized portions. We enjoyed the variety that was offered on the menu. Thank you so much all who served us with a smile and good humour.

Lydia's reply to your rude reply, following her review. 09.50am 05.10.24 Hi Brent, Thank you for your reply. We never received any offer of refund in any form. I'm not a fantasist and placed the review 10 months after the event for two reasons: 1) I was so emotionally angry and upset that you were so rude causing my families Christmas Day disaster and subsequent cancellation of our home buffet on Boxing Day. 2) If I reviewed in January, customers would forget prior to booking Christmas 2024. I had to wait until booking closer to Christmas 2024 . The reason their is no Christmas Day at The Red Barn is because it was such a shambles 2023. Even in your reply today, you sware, didn't apologise and we still didn't receive any refund, which I'm happy to receive as a Gesture of Goodwill. Re my furure bookings, last month I booked a Christmas Day venue. We have attended Christmas Day there twice before. They have Christmas Day spot on. They are welcoming, polite, attentive and put the customer first. They would never dream of swaring at a customer, let alone wish they would break down. Your reviews will catch up with you and your trade. Your business suffers because of YOU. No Christmas Day this year - SPEAKS VOLUMES. My family and I would like to wish you a fabulous Christmas and hope you have resolved your stress and family issues you used as an excuse last boxing day last year. NO CHRISTMAS DAY VENUE - I'm a fantasist!!! Question Mr Catterson - Why did Nichola resign from your Security Company in June? I wonder!

We were a walk in for lunch, staff greeted us and showed us to a table by a roaring fire. Interesting building with veiws over river though a bit faux inside. Hubby had fish and chips I had the steak and ale and mushroom pie at £17.95 I had a lot better elsewhere. Waitress said they were bought in, I suggest they got them from somewhere else. Plesant meal in pleasant surroundings £55. two main meals and 4 pints fine by me.

Shopping experience ok. Not enough organic products!! Tesco's seem to have stopped doing a lot of organic. Very disappointing.
