Went there because of boycotting all other cafes.. and wow .. better than all of the big chain cafes ( costa , starbucks … etc ) Highly recommended

£18 for 2 cakes & 2 iced coffees which were as appealing as the cost....will avoid COFFEE ZERO at all costs in future!!!

An ideally-located situation for people-watching but alas it suffers from all the national chain store inadeqacies and lack of customer service. Customers need to queue-up at the till to get served by which time they have likely lost their seat (which can be difficult to locate at busy times, especially the prized front window area). Go local. Invest in your community and patronise one of the 476 privately owned coffee houses that Shrewsbury town centre has to offer. Admittedly, if you need the predictability and consistency of a chain like Nero or McDonalds, then by all means fill your boots or eat a drive-away in (the comfort) of your own vehicle.

We live localy and call into Cafe Nero now and again. We are never dissapointed by our impression of the cafe as it is always let down by it's lack of cleanliness with it's drab and unhealthy appearence. The serving counter is always cluttered and dirty, the appliances used for food prep and coffee making are as usual, stained with years of lack of cleaning. On the positive the coffe is good and the snacks reasonable. We deserve much better for what is one one of Shrewsburys prime locations.

Coffee is good but this is the 4th time in a row over the last 4 weeks we have had a paper cup. When you pay for a coffee you want a proper cup

My friend and I chose a chicken and bacon tostini. I took them to the till to be heated up, and was then told that one of them had to be given to another customer as his had got burnt and as there weren't anymore chicken and bacon ones left I'd have to choose something else which although not happy about, I did. It would have been nice to have been given one of our drinks as an apology, but no, nothing. This place has gone downhill and needs the previous staff back. The last time I was there we were given dirty knives and forks that hadn't been washed. Not good. I've always gone there but now it's time for a change. A very bad first impression for my friend. What's the point in having all cups and mugs out and then being given a drink in a paper cup when eating and drinking inside?

Have been a regular visitor for many years Understand problems during Covid and continued to support and in those days a permanent work force Now the staff seem to change every week,coffee been served in paper cups,dishwasher broken ? What mistake visiting Cafe Nero in Shrewsbury, when there is so much choice. We called in late morning for a quick bite and won't be going back..ever. Greeted by indifferent staff, dirty cutlery, mediocre and tasteless food just so poor and not very clean. All down to bad management and a lack of training.

Self service only last week. Cardboard cups ths week 7th feb 24. Much better places close by with proper cups.

The female barista was just monosyllabic and rude. Made me feel stupid for asking why the cups were takeaway ones. Even the customers ahead of me commented on her poor attitude. Not content with that she went on to slam the high chair to the floor a foot behind where we were sitting. The chap serving was the total opposite, cheery and polite as was the trainee barista. I think Costa will be seeing more of us from now on.

Rude staff and always understaffed. I can’t deal with the female staff all having multiple paired face piercings. Should they be wearing these while serving? Won’t go there again.

Just bitterly disappointed, inside the cafe is inviting and rustic but the food is below par.. Presentation of the food was awful, the soup has no flavour, and i had a mozzarella mushroom toastie which wasn’t even properly toasted.. The Three women behind the counter gave the impression that they didn’t want to be there, it showed with how poorly the food was served and presented.

Ordered our sunday breakfast through Uber eats from here, and the scrambled egg and bacon brioche came with no eggs at all?! What a shame...

Very friendly staff and delicious drinks. This is my review I wrote 3 years ago but sadly I feel it needs to be updated. I've been going to Café Nero for many years but sadly recently I don't feel like a very valued customer. In the past 3 months I've seen at least 6 members of staff leave and that clearly speaks for its self. I go to the cafe everyday where possible and I was there on Wednesday 6th December. I ordered my usual drink, panettone latte, coconut milk, extra hot, with cream. Sat down with my drink, tasted it, it clearly wasn't extra hot, more like barely warm. I know I should've taken the drink back but I didn't and just drank it. I came into the cafe the following day as usual and the same member of staff was on that made my drink the previous day (they were covering from another shop due to staff shortage) Ordered my drink and as always asked for it to be made extra hot. Sat down and again drink was barely warm. My friend went to the counter and said to the barista "don't take offence but this drink isn't extra hot" The barista said "don't worry if I took offence, you'd know about it love" then "all you've got to do is ask me to remake the drinks" There was no apology as you'd expect. The barista then threw the contents of our cups into the sink with such aggression, that some of the contents splashed back hitting his face and he was seen to then swiftly clean his glasses. Drinks were remade but sadly they were no better. I didn't dare to take the drinks back and complain for a second time.

The poor barrista at 3.07 pm today was run off her feet serving a long line of customers whilst her colleague barrista spent her time laboriously carefully stacking the sandwiches, I so felt for the competent serving assistant , she could have done with some help behind the counter ! Was it because the stacker was a trainee ?

Used this cafe Nero a couple of times now. Coffee is the usual Nero standard (very good) as are the cakes. Toilets could be better

Food and drink is fine. It's very careworn. Often empty cardboard boxes are stacked in the customer area. Buckets and mops too. Needs someone to take charge.

Kudos to the lovely staff, they were very nice and welcoming, they were quick with the orders. Food as the usual cafe nero, we tried the millionaires hot choco and it was really good. Some tables were a bit messy though but perhaps it was just as busy

The food and drink is the same as for any other Cafe Nero. They clearly do not have enough staff as there were long queues to be served and virtually every table in the cafe was dirty and there was food on the floor. If you wanted to sit down you had to clear the table yourself. There was used cups, plates, etc stacked on every available surface. I wouldn't go back here.

Staff are rude in the Shrewsbury branch and show not even the most basic of customer service skills. The service is very slow, the seating area is dirty and the toilets are a disgrace. Nero used to be our favourite coffee shop but today was the last time we will be visiting.

Poor barista on her own til 10am expected to do online deliveries and serve customers. Other staff not due in til 10am on a Saturday morning. She worked really hard stayed calm but this should never happen very poor management and only management to blame need to get their act together if they want to keep staff like the person on her own this morning. Will say the coffee was great.

Popped in for a coffee and a cake - it’s dog friendly so it was a winner on that front. However, apart from that there was little to recommend it. Service was slow and staff weren’t very helpful. The whole place appeared dirty. Upholstery on chairs was old and stained.. bins overflowing right where we sat, toilets are absolutely filthy( clearly not been cleaned in a long time). Such a shame because it’s in a good central location. So, I don’t think we’ll be going again anytime soon.

Myself and partner nipped into Caffè Nero last weekend for an afternoon drink. We hadn’t been there for a few years. Once in there we found the place to be very tired looking and dirty. There was a permanent queue of people waiting to be served by the two overrun staff members. There were bins overflowing with rubbish, dirty used cups etc on the tables as the staff hadn’t had the time to clear them, the upholstered seats were dirty and stained and the toilets were very dirty. Needless to say we won’t be returning there in a hurry!! Come on Caffè Nero spend some money on the place and make it look an inviting place to go!!!

Loved this place ,cosy and relaxing

We visited this branch earlier today. Hadn’t been here for a few years. Once in we thought that the place looked dirty and unwelcoming. The service was very slow and there was a long queue at the till all the time we were there. They seemed to be very under staffed. The fabric seats we sat on were dirty. There were quite a few tables with dirty crockery left on and not cleared away. The toilet was dirty and needed a good clean. Overall not that pleasant an experience. We won’t be visiting there again in a hurry!!!!

I have always loved going into Cafe Nero for a coffee and sometimes a cake treat. However, this morning I popped in and was very disappointed at the dirty conditions, the stale looking cakes and worse still, the indifferent service that I received from the young female barista. No thank you, no asking whether I wanted something to eat and all the staff looked scruffy and were more interested in talking to each other than look after me as a customer. Sadly, I won’t be returning and will be going elsewhere.

Katie makes amazing drinks! Gave me advice on my headaches and made me a tasty decaf version, She's my favourite batista! Not so keen on the others. Allows dogs inside, got toilets, pistachio mousse cake is delicious too

Had a mango frappe and a caramel frappe this morning. Very disappointing, hardly any caramel in the cup and it was warm and thin liquid. Mango no better, much better in costa!!

I always pop in every now and again for a takeaway drink/food but thought I’d pop in and sit in. The staff were friendly and helpful. I love the atmosphere of Cafe Nero and couldn’t fault the team here. Always a great drink and have never had an issue. Reading other reviews, yes, maybe the store needs a bit of TLC but doesn’t everywhere? It’s a nice, peaceful area and I enjoy it.

Coffee was lovely, but the young girls behind the counter were really stretched! The queue was huge, there were messy tables and trays of dirty dishes waiting to be collected. I noticed the Managress sitting behind us chatting away to a friend. She was there all the time we were, 40mins, and was still there sat chatting when we left. I went to the toilet and when I came back my Fiance said one of the young girls had asked the Manageress, nicely, if she could possibly help them.. She questioned the girl about what had to be done!! Clearly though she should have been right by their side helping. As the young girl walked away the Manageress quipped 'they should learn to cope on their own'!! The young girl heard this.. When we left the Manageress was still sat chatting! I think it's disgraceful to have someone in charge of such a popular coffee place. And was asked very nicely to help too! I truly hope Neros Area Manager reads this review!

This used to be one of my favorite coffee shops, however the whole place desperately needs refurbishment and a thorough clean. The floor, chairs, toilets and tables were all dirty. There were cobwebs in the corners and the tables were not being emptied or cleaned between customers. It's several months since our last visit and standards have definitely fallen. We won't be returning in a hurry.

Like all caffe Nero it was dirty and shabby. Paper cups as short of staff. It's a shame. Also dogs allowed in, not a good idea.

Having only popped in due to a sudden dizzy spell, the young lady behind the counter(, seeing I wasn't well,) poured and handed me a glass of water, and said to take a seat, she'd bring over my order. She even went as far to ask if she could get me anything else, and to just say if I needed any help. I'm pleasantly surprised by this wonderful level of service. Especially as all previous visits have been met with staff chatting away to one another, and barely acknowledging that customers exsist. I hope the young lady that served me is rewarded in the next staff meeting. I wish her all the best for the future.

Nicely situated in the town but typical of a big name coffee house. Slow and disinterested staff with no personality going through the motions. Dirty crockery left on tables far too long. Coffee is ok but that’s about all

We’ve been coming here for a long time, but feel the shop desperately needs some TLC and a revamp. So many of the chairs are really dirty and broken . It’s a shame as the staff are nice( though seems to be a really high turnover) and enjoy the food/ drink. Needs injection of atmosphere ideally.

Love Cafe Neros It’s always busy here but sadly the staff don’t stay long They work hard but maybe this should be looked into why they’re leaving especially when they’re so busy The leaking roof doesn’t look good and needs attention!! Maybe the Area manager needs to get more staff in here

Gluten free is not an option unless you want a chocolate brownie or flapjack. How difficult would it be to have a prepacked sandwich.

My husband and I are regularly visitors to the store and we have seen a dramatic change. What has happened? Cafe is dirty, half measures given and drinks are Luke warm, no spoons. Unfortunately we have decided it’s time for a change and therefore won’t be visiting again. We will miss the window seat!

Was a regular here but it's gone to pot over the last 9 months, most recently reducing hours at the last minute. Pay your staff better, and maybe they'll stick around: lost some good baristas who actually knew how to make coffee.

I handed over a £5 note and 25 pence for a cioffee which cost £3.25. but received no change. When I pointed this out the look I was given was dire

I visited with a friend and her son. Ordered a hot chocolate, cost nearly £4 and it was barely warm and half froth. Sat in the window seat and the sofa was broken. Other furniture, floors and fridges were really dirty and the whole place looked in need of a good clean, staff on duty peak time Saturday were young and clearly inexperienced, some simple questions about allergens met with uncertainty and panic. Lack of confidence in the staff lead to us not ordering what we wanted, after queueing to be served. Will not visit again,expected much better for the price and for the name. Disappointed doesn't cover it, sort yourselves out!

Xmas shopping in Shrewsbury always has to include a coffee stop....and this is a great place to sit down, refuel, and tick items off your presents list. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the coffee is good, and there is a good selection of cakes. I would recommend the luxury mince pie and the chocolate filled doughnut ting with chopped hazelnut topping. I'm not so sure about the large wooden table and chairs (it's a bit like sitting at a school dinner table), but there are ample smaller tables too. The loos are well maintained too.

Nero's is usually always good wherever the store is.

I was quickly served and the drink was made speedily and to a high standard. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere in the cafe was calm and relaxing, with it being very easy to chat with other customers. I would recommend a visit.

Sitting at Caffè Nero and just took a sip off my capuccino... 😣 It tastes like burnt coffee...however, the barrista is super lovely and friendly and the atmosphere is always relaxing but I can't finish my coffee and it's a bit of a waste of £2.75 ..

Awful Customer service Came in with my child (toddler) who Is autistic Was told I was Not in the queue Thou I stood behind the only lady at the till who was being served to be served so rudely no thankyou no help with coffee nothing was made to feel like I shouldn't be in there with a child I later was in a shop nearby where a lady came up to me asking if I was okay as she had seen the way I was treated and said she was a regular there and after seeing that and hearing the women behind counter complaining of noises my child was making she would only be returning to put a complaint in as the women who served me should not be working there Was a blonde young girl who was working today 20th Oct 2022 at around 10 am I did not get her name Awful place to feel that I wasn't allowed to buy a coffee and sit in cafe just for having a child is dam right ridiculous Awful place

The was Toilet dirty and the floor was dirty in the cafe didn’t feel clean needs a good cleaning staff it’s same really because it’s in a nice area sorry I have written this but the toilets male and female where well below standard

The staff were very friendly and the place was clean and tidy. What more could you ask for. I'm not a coffee drinker but their fruit smooth was delicious. Fully recommend but be cautious of brain freeze if you drink it so fast.

4 members behind the bar and only one hard working, making coffees and giving a good customer service. The other 3 are to busy laughing out loud, disappointed and won't be coming here anymore.
