Lydia's reply to your rude reply, following her review. 09.50am 05.10.24 Hi Brent, Thank you for your reply. We never received any offer of refund in any form. I'm not a fantasist and placed the review 10 months after the event for two reasons: 1) I was so emotionally angry and upset that you were so rude causing my families Christmas Day disaster and subsequent cancellation of our home buffet on Boxing Day. 2) If I reviewed in January, customers would forget prior to booking Christmas 2024. I had to wait until booking closer to Christmas 2024 . The reason their is no Christmas Day at The Red Barn is because it was such a shambles 2023. Even in your reply today, you sware, didn't apologise and we still didn't receive any refund, which I'm happy to receive as a Gesture of Goodwill. Re my furure bookings, last month I booked a Christmas Day venue. We have attended Christmas Day there twice before. They have Christmas Day spot on. They are welcoming, polite, attentive and put the customer first. They would never dream of swaring at a customer, let alone wish they would break down. Your reviews will catch up with you and your trade. Your business suffers because of YOU. No Christmas Day this year - SPEAKS VOLUMES. My family and I would like to wish you a fabulous Christmas and hope you have resolved your stress and family issues you used as an excuse last boxing day last year. NO CHRISTMAS DAY VENUE - I'm a fantasist!!! Question Mr Catterson - Why did Nichola resign from your Security Company in June? I wonder!

The Red Barn Shrewsbury Christmas Day 2023.... £480 for 8 people £60 each for five courses. Shambles - Absolute catastrophe of a day. Very upsetting ordeal. Paid all monies and submitted menu choices on time. Booked for originally 3.30pm, later changed/agreed to sit at 3pm - Arrived 3pm. Sat at down 4.20pm. Table setting - 1 x red serviette and 1 knife, nothing else, no table cloth, crackers or any condiments. First course, special need sister ordered Stilton & Garlic Forrest Mushrooms. Arrived on hard toasted Bloomer. Awkward for my sister as she is IDSSI Soft Option 6. Didn't eat bread. Waited ages for main. Asked for dough and oil 5 times. It arrived half way through main. Father ordered steak - no steak knife given. My sister cancelled her meal and requested a £60 refund, due to the length of wait. Due to length of wait, Daniel the host was trying his hardest to accommodate all parties present. They couldn't handle the demand due to booking too many customers. Customer service suffered. Customers suffered. Other gent at bar also complained about the service and wait times. My father ordered Jelly & Ice Cream. When the icecream in sponge came out, we were told its as stated on the menu. When I asked where the jelly was, the waiter said 'Oh I've left the jelly tots in the kitchen'. The sweets were handed to us in a chinese takeaway tub. After paying £480 for a special day for my 83 year old father, the day was ruined through overbooking, delay in seating, lack of christmas decorations on the table, long delay for food, bad customer service, food expected not being as requested. I asked for a partial refund as the stress of the day placed my 20 year old son into a panic attack. The barmaid (ex police office) was very good at supporting him. Thank you. Was a truly a bad experience. We eat out a lot, especially on Christmas Day to accommodate 8 people. Not good at all. I waited after everyone left in my party a further 1/2 hour for Daniel to return from an off-site meeting with Brent the Red Barn Manager. Daniel returned and ask if I could telephone Brent tomorrow, on Boxing Day. I telephoned Brent on Boxing Day, where other people were present during my call. Brent was defensive, rude, didn't listen, wasn't empathetic, said his CVTV put only a five minute wait on food and wasn't at all apologetic. He said he was the director and pub owner. Staff cannot refund without permission. I asked for his full name to enable me to write to Punch Bowl brewery. He said you don't need my surname. I explained I could obtain company details off Companies House. He ended the call quite rudely, 'You are not having a refund or partial refund, that was yesterday, today is today. As you've mentioned Companies House, this call is ended'. He hung up and the phone went dead. Summary - Don't do Christmas Day at The Red Barn. Worst experience ever. If you need proof, I have the receipts, menu, call logs. No refund, not even my sisters £60 (cancelled meal) was refunded. Absolutely wish we never went to The Red Barn. Won't return. Future customers, You have been warned! All you need to do is look at everyone else's low star review. What publican would wish any guest to break down?

We were in Shrewsbury in our camper van looking for a pub stopover, thanks to Google we saw that the Red Barn offers overnight stays in their car park so off we went. The greeting we had was wonderful, staff were so friendly and showed us where to park our camper. Whenever we use pub stopovers we always have a meal as a thank you and we were so glad we did. The food was excellent, we are vegetations and the choice was excellent. Staff came over to check if all was well with the food, there was a new member of staff who made a slight mistake with the order, staff were really sorry and as a result gave us our second drink on the house. If you are in Shrewsbury and looking for a lovely pub for a drink, food or even a campervan stopover head for The Red Barn and you will not be disappointed. As a bonus the evening we were there was a Singers Night so we enjoyed listening to the singers while eating a marvellous meal. If you are planning a campervan stopover phone first to check there is space and please thank the Red Barn by having a meal in the pub, you will not be disappointed. Thank you all at the Red Barn for making our stay so enjoyable.

Not ideal for camping overnight in the car park, it's small and there's no water or electricity sockets. Restaurant is hit and miss with when they are providing food. Dan is very friendly. No privacy either when your in you allocated parking spot, the neighbours can see right into the campervan. Not ideal for us or them. Car park is busy too even when pub is shut. Didn't get to try the food as they weren't serving and I can't comment on the atmosphere as there wasn't anyone in the pub at 4.30pm

Took my wife in for a Sunday roast. Ordered drinks and was told no beef! Had I not ordered the drinks I would have been straight out the door. We ordered roast pork. The waitress arrived and said two turkey dinners so we said sorry we ordered pork. The meals were bought back and the waitress said sorry I meant pork! The pork was sliced pork not roasted with a spot of gravy so it was very dry. As we were finishing we were offered gravy so the last mouthful was lovely. Price was £12.50 and portion size was small and there was just a small amount of veg between us. Sliced pork is not the same as roast pork. After the plates were cleared the cook asked us whether we had had a nice meal. I told him about the gravy and he said we should have asked for some! Never again. I would quite happily pay a fiver more for a proper Sunday Lunch!!

What a great welcome here tonight .. a last minute stop as the sun was shining ... we parked our moterhome in the bottom carpark no problem.. had a pint or 2 then ordered the food .. server's with a very friendly smile and it was all delicious... went for a walk in the direction the 6year son / boss 😎 told us ... to be fair it was a lovely walk down the hill not so easy walk back .. but a lovely smile and a quick night cap did the trick.. soon found out we had walked the wrong way .. ( umm when a 60year takes advice from a 6 year only one person to blame ) ha ha what a lovely pub and we will definitely be back ... thank for a great night xxx

Whilst visiting Shrewsbury in our campervan, we were looking for somewhere within walking distance of the town, to spend the night, and we came across The Red Barn, who offered parking in their carpark in return for a drink / meal in the pub, or a payment of £10. We had a very friendly welcome from all the staff and met the pub manager, who was equally as welcoming. The car park was secure and private and the pub was a really pleasant 10-15 minute stroll into town, along the banks of the river. We had a great stay, both in Shrewsbury and at the Red Barn, and would definitely stay here again if visiting Shrewsbury.

Not a great experience at the Red barn. We booked for our 21st wedding anniversary, we were kept waiting at the bar while the bar staff was checking her phone, when we asked about starters we were told 'yes it's mozeralla sticks and stuff' we ordered starters that we found on the website as there was no Sunday lunch menu on the table We were shown to a table with a hole in the seat which wasn't acceptable . When our food came it was very good. You couldn't fault the food. Its the customer service that was very unacceptable. I work in customer service and do mystery shops. If I was on a mystery shop these would be getting a bad report and I won't be returning for a while.

Came in for funeral tea, pub had put on a spread - ended up with food poisoning (along with 95% of the other guests). Disappointing. Edit after owners reply: Wow. Just wow. As if a funeral wasn’t hard enough to deal with, now being completely gaslit. 95% of funeral party all getting sick within 24-48hrs of visiting is not a coincidence - especially as we’re all from different regions of the U.K. Disgraceful reply. The menu stated that the chips were skin on but when they arrived, they were not, this was a bonus as neither of us are that keen on skin on chips. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection. We were offered the use of an outside tap for water. Although we were a couple, we would recommend the pub for those with children as there was a children's play area with bouncy castle. We would definitely stay again.

I was with a group and initial thoughts were that it was a welcoming environment with friendly staff. This continued throughout and the food was really nice - better than I expected. I would not usually expect much from a steak at £13.50, but it...

Hate having to leave such a lovely pub a bad review! We came Tuesday last week for my birthday meal. After seeing an advertisement stating start the week as you mean to go on kids eat for £1, misunderstood that as to mean it was to be all week as a few people did. Ended up staying for food anyway which was a terrible idea. Small childs pizza on its own no sides £6.50. My partners curry which was 10.50 was smaller than a microwave meal portion and served lukewarm. My steak was somehow cremated one end and blue on the other.. no idea how and my friends hunters chicken was also very overdone. Mentioned it to the guy I believe to be the chef but all he could manage was a sorry as he was rushing round trying to do other things.. he did say sorry again after my daughter had come of the bouncy castle and he did seem sincere. Just a shame that essentially wasted almost £60 and most of the adult meals we could only stomach about half before just going home hungry. Used to be lovely food such a shame this one time it was terrible.

Been my local for as long as I've been drinking. Always been a nice place, great selection of ales, drafts and spirits. Interior is looked after and very comforting. The current management have really done wonders for the place. Such a nice and welcoming atmosphere, staff are polite and happy to accommodate and the food has always been tasty, cooked beautifully and great value for money! Have never had a bad experience or a bad thing to say. The team at the barn should be proud!

Went for pub crawl early day. Yes I loved it. Quickly, cosy, good selections of beers and ciders and great main man, made this a very pleasant visit. Recommend!

We were a walk in for lunch, staff greeted us and showed us to a table by a roaring fire. Interesting building with veiws over river though a bit faux inside. Hubby had fish and chips I had the steak and ale and mushroom pie at £17.95 I had a lot better elsewhere. Waitress said they were bought in, I suggest they got them from somewhere else. Plesant meal in pleasant surroundings £55. two main meals and 4 pints fine by me.

Stopped off in Church Stetton recently, we fancied a quick snack for lunch - and the Bucks Head fitted the bill perfectly. The building itself is very interesting, being one of the older ones in the town, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We just had two starters, a glass of wine and a small coke, but this was exactly what we wanted and very enjoyable. I paid about £20 and as and when we're back in this delightful little town we'll be sure to stop off for a more substantial meal. Recommended.
