My wife and I have been going regularly to H&H in Tesco since it opened some years ago. In all that time we have never been presented with anything less than helpful, friendly and efficient staff. It serves excellent coffee and a tasty selection of sweet and savoury food. It might sound sad that we travel from a pretty village to sit in a supermarket cafe overlooking a retail park, but it actually works for us. Thank you to all the staff (many whom have been there for some years).

If you're heading to Caffè Nero in Newbury, be sure to double-check the location—perhaps avoid Northbrook Street, and visit its counterpart on Bartholomew Street. To start with the positives, the staff are friendly and do their best, especially when there's a full team on shift. You can feel that they genuinely want to deliver good service, and that’s always appreciated. Unfortunately, the first impression as you walk through the door is less than ideal. A doormat covered in dog hair isn't exactly the warm welcome you want when popping in for a coffee. That detail alone makes you look a bit closer—and when you do, the general untidiness, layers of dust, and a sense that the place hasn't been cleaned properly become hard to ignore. In a café setting, cleanliness is everything. It’s what gives you the confidence to relax, to enjoy your drink, and to trust that your cup is indeed clean. In this case, however, you may want to opt for a takeaway cup, just to be on the safe side. This location could really benefit from a bit of leadership. A visit from the manager to set the standard—or physically get involved in the cleaning—would go a long way. Without that, regulars and newcomers alike might do what we did: carry on walking down the street to a cleaner, more inviting coffee shop. A missed opportunity, sadly, for what could otherwise be a lovely place.

Awful and expensive. Bought 2 baguette rolls, one was chicken and bacon...but no bacon. One was a NY Deli...not great either but all ingredients present. 2 bags of crips and 2 drinks...just shy of £16. A real rip off. When I complained I was told that they all come premade so they were unaware...ok that's alright then! Bread was doughy and industrial...absolutely nothing to like and a rip off to boot. Avoid at all costs.

What has happened? Unwelcoming who couldn’t raise a smile on nitros oxide ….. over cooked toasted sandwich which it was impossible to cut with the nasty plastic cutlery (which was not on show in an obvious place - other things like straws cup-carriers on a window sill) and the toastie was squished and served in a box not a plate and horrid paper cups….. when did H & H get so basic certainly won’t waste my money here again ….. From a 10 to a 2

I love this place. Nice people, great range of produce. Dry goods, and fresh produce, an excellent deli. Good atmosphere and charming. Polite too.

A lovely and friendly country pub. We were lucky enough to visit on an evening where a band was playing which was great. We pre ordered a grazing box which went down well with the selection of gins on offer from the bar.

Poor repair, toilets often out of use - and they smell. The outside of the place looks derelict and the inside is only a little better. Beware the car park as you will automatically get a ticket if there for more than 90 mins as I was with the lady that I care for. Being disabled she does not move quickly and can often refuse to move at all, but the people in charge of the car park don't care at all. There are many places to drink or snack in the town - why on earth would you stop here!

Long journey and desperately needed somewhere to take a break. So there was my saviour next to a Travelodge.Big car park, all clean and tidy,12.45pm and the place was empty ! Big sized Americano (£2.95) and a chocolate twist (£2.30) did the revival trick, quick doze in the car and then back on the road fully refreshed. It does what it is supposed to do and does it well.

Went yesterday to find the place is all boarded up. I don't know if it is shut for refurbishment or if it has shut down permanently. This is the second coffee shop I used that has been closed. My favourite was Costa in Waterstones. That's gone too.

I've visited this cafe many times over the years. The staff are always helpful and friendly, there is a good range of cakes and meals reasonably priced, with gluten free and veg options, and the coffee is lovely and hot! It's a pleasant place to sit looking out over the vegetation!

I hate to say this, but this must’ve been the worst ever experience I’ve had of having hot drinks and a slice of cake while eating out. I ordered a tiramisu hot chocolate and a latte coffee. Both of them should’ve been served in a mug, but were in cups, the drinks were tepid and the taste was very disappointing. The caramel chocolate cake was mediocre, far from what I would’ve expected in a high-end cafe. It was also like sitting in a refrigerator. When I picked up my spoon to stir the drink, the spoon felt ice cold as did we. The staffing levels were very poor, the young man that served us also ended up cleaning tables and taking away items to be washed up. While we were having our drink, he proceeded to put chairs on tables that were immediately behind us. This felt as though we were not welcome. I’m very disappointed in Waitrose, I was expecting way better than this! I don’t feel ever inclined to want to return to this place ever again!
