I've visited this cafe many times over the years. The staff are always helpful and friendly, there is a good range of cakes and meals reasonably priced, with gluten free and veg options, and the coffee is lovely and hot! It's a pleasant place to sit looking out over the vegetation!

My husband and I often spend quite a bit on plants and then pop in for lunch at the cafe in Squires Reigate. Unfortunately the food has gone badly downhill. I usually have the Allotment sandwich which is basically a cheese, onion and tomato toastie with a small green salad, at £9.99 not cheap but it was so nice I could never resist it. It was poor the last time I had it around a month ago but I put it down to a one off. Well today I had to send it back twice, I bit into it and it was like biting into two carpet tiles aka dry brown bread. On opening it up, and showing the counter staff, a member of the serving staff said "we've been told to cut back" they then brought me another, I promptly opened it in front of the food prep staff and said no, it's not good enough. She said "we have to put in a designated amount of cheese" well at most there must have been 20 grams with 1/2 slice of tomato and some limp onion. I have a 400 gram block of cheese at home for around £3.50 so how much mark up are they expecting? They gave us a refund but while my husband had cod, chips and peas I sat there with nothing. They did not appear to want to remedy the situation. So Squires have not just lost out on cafe customers but we will also not be popping in to purchase plants, pots, cakes, sweets, cards etc . What a silly decision someone has made, the cafe was quite empty today on a Friday lunchtime, normally it would be hard to get a table. I wonder why?

Very friendly & prompt service, just made it for breakfast, we were the last order. The full English (with added items) was so disappointing. Two burnt sausages, dried bacon, a spoonful of scrambled egg, made up with 2 hash browns, a few baked beans & a decent tomato. The 4 item veggie breakfast was quite something; some slightly brown edged avocado slices, a small gluten free sausage, a small poached egg & a slice of toast. The accompanying tea tasted of metal & was almost undrinkable. For approximately £27 this was probably the worst breakfast we'd ever had. Having eaten here many times over the years we were very shocked at the standard of the breakfast. It's hard to imagine that when sent out it was deemed to be worth the money we were paying.

The entire experience was so awful it could have been made into a comedy sketch. The service was disorganised and slow. The coff was weak and cooled. The smoothie machine broke down and then suddenly was working again. The food arrived in stages , waited twenty minutes for a scone that never arrived. Waited twenty minutes for a refund of £2.95, which was most rudely given. We will not be returning .

My wife and I ate here for the first time recently. We love the food at Squires Long Ditton. They have the same menu, but the food was much better at the other store. The food here was not great. The food came out very quickly and looked and tasted like it had been re-heated and not cooked fresh. For example, my wife vegan sausage was really dry, my beans were dry, the hash browns were greasy and looked and tasted liked they had been cooked more than once. In addition, the toast had been put next to the scrambled egg, which was watery and spoilt parts of the toast. The staff were friendly. However, we would not eat here again.

This is quite a small cafe and we called in for lunch. Not a good start as we waited to be seated for some while. However things were fine after that, my cheese and ham toasted sandwich was delicious and my husband enjoyed a good bowl of carrot and coriander soup with a roll. All perfectly pleasant. The only downside is the rather small car park, we had to wait to get out as some lorries were manoeuvring, wouldn't like to go at a busy time.

We were visiting the garden centre this morning and decided to stay for lunch in the cafe. We were very disappointed with the standard of the food. The chips and peas were both large quantities but the fish was so tiny that once through the batter there was only about six mouthfuls of actual fish. We have no intention of repeating the experience. No wonder the cafe was empty!

Decided to go here when my husband heard about this garden centre. We went after lockdown was lifted and it's small but staff were so lovely and welcoming . Managed to get some lovely plants and compost. Will be going again when more sections are opened as some were closed

Along with its East Horsley counterpart the food here is very welll cooked and excellent vakue for money. There are many different options for those who like us need gluten free food - and not just cakes (although these are very good too!). The breakfasts in particular are excellent value for money - 6 or 9 items for a set price with plenty to choose from for both meat eaters and vegetarians. If you get here betore 10am on a weekday you get free refills on hot drinks which is also worth knowing about. The centre itself is about halfway between Betchworth and Reigate and easy to reach by car with plenty of free parking. The staff are very helpful and available to answer any questions you might have with pretty much everything you might need for the garden.

The cafe is situated at the back of the garden centre, with some outside dining space. There is a nice, relaxed atmosphere and a good, varied menu of light bites. We mainly visit Squires for their cakes; there is usually a fair selection but the slices could be bigger for the price (but this is Reigate, I guess!) Bonus points for having a loyalty card scheme which is valid across all their cafes; this does go towards improving the value for money! There are often seasonal bakes and on this occasion I opted for the Halloween themed chocolate orange cake (even though I think this was intended to be a kiddies' cake!) and a Galaxy chocolate milkshake, from their improved milkshake menu. Both were very tasty and it is a perfectly pleasant garden centre cafe but the main issue here seems to be the service; some of the staff seem to be quite inexperienced and are not supported by the more senior team members. The service at the till was painfully slow - so much so that after watching the lad serving us trying in vain to pick up the pastry tart that my co-eater ordered for what seemed like an age, I wanted to go round to the other side of the cabinet and serve myself! There is a hint of 'computer says no' attitude, but that might just be down to the lack of training received.

We went to Squires in Reigate today for a snack lunch. Very disappointing. Whilst the furnishings have been improved vastly, the disinterested attitude of the till/counter staff was mesmerising. Seldom have I experienced such devoted lack of interest in service based employees. Added to that the food was bland at best. The bread served as sandwiches and on the side for the soup was stale. The soup tasteless without liberal addition of salt and pepper. It looked to hold so much promise but it was terrible. Add to this a price that could not be considered cheap for the content and you get an embarrassing lack of value.

Fantastic pottery painting studio at Squires garden centre in Badshot lea, near Farnham in Surrey. We went with my granddaughter and my daughter on one of the hottest days in July. I had reservations at first as the studio is in a glass conservatory and I thought it would be too hot. However I was delighted to find it had air conditioning. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a huge selection of pots that you could choose from, and 30 different coloured glazes/ paints. The studio was clean and well organized, light and airy. We all had a go at painting, I painted a spoon, and my granddaughter painted a dog bowl, my daughter painted a mug, and my partner painted an ornament. I found it so relaxing and therapeutic. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There was a great coffee machine and selection of cold drinks and snacks too.Cant recommend this place enough. They are also running adult only evening sessions too. You don't have to book in advance, we just turned up and they managed to fit us in on our own table.

We wanted coffee and cake after leaving Chartwell House and had passed the garden centre on the outward journey so thought we’d give it a go. Really good. Half an hour before closing still had good selection. Coffee and apple cake really hit the spot. Friendly staff. Cafe and restaurant. Garden centre looked good too. Would recommend

We chose Squires at Reigate for a breakfast after meeting a friend from an early morning flight into London Gatwick, he loves a cooked breakfast and having been a regular at Squires at Badshot Lea we decided to give Reigate a try. A great choice, we on their doorstep when they opened at 9.00am. We ordered 3 x 6 item breakfasts plus drinks, they were delivered very fresh and delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly. We all agreed that the breakfast at Reigate was even better than Badshot Lea. Thank you.

Finding ourselves in the Reigate area at lunch time earlier this week, we decided to try Squire’s Garden Centre on the A25 near Reigate. Our local Squire’s restaurant in Crawley is superb so we were optimistic and hopeful! Oh dear, no, no, no!The staff in the restaurant area were friendly and pleasant but that’s where it ends. Our food took for ever to come out, mine first, my wife’s some ten minutes later. My fish was really dry, the peas blanched and dry too. My wife had shepherd’s pie which was a case of hunt the minced beef in amongst a sea of mashed potato. Her vegetables had been nuked within an inch of their lives - very disappointing!Clearly the staff need training and need to be led by a manager who will support and monitor their work.A repeat visit would be unlikely unless it was tea and cake. So disappointing as Crawley Squire’s is brilliant. In fairness the rest of the garden centre was excellent. Very interesting, well laid out displays, particularly the Christmas merchandise. The outside area was also immaculate with great autumn displays of shrubs and bedding. The toilets had recently been upgraded and were spotlessly clean and well maintained. The lunch menu and cooking of it needs urgently looking at.

I have been going to Squires for years. I love that they are not a chain group. The manager/owners spend time talking and advising if you need help. They have a good range of plants and products. Their cafe is really nice, often get a cuppa and a fab selection of food/cakes. I often rush in and ask for a takeaway cheese scone or cream tea, as I live nearby. They willingly oblige. Most of the time, after a walkies with the pooches is a welcome retreat to pop in and browse if nothing else, especially at Christmas ☃️☃️(browsing forgotten at this point lol)

This restaurant/cafe serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea is reliably very very good. From their wonderful breakfast range of Eggs Benedict to full English and lunch specials to the most glorious Welsh rarebit, I’ve yet to even see something that doesn’t look delicious. Not so long ago I had a lunch special meaty soup which was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted! There should be awards for places as good as this. Delightful staff too!

Stopped for tea & cake on a Sunday afternoon. Restaurant wasn't busy. The outside seating area had approx 6 tables, all were free of people but each table full of crockery & lots of uneaten plates. It looked as though they had been there for a while as other crockery had been placed on it to clear other tables earlier. It took 10minutes to queue to get a cup of tea and cake (only 2 people in the queue) and in that time I asked a lady to clear at least one of the tables. She didn't. We sat down after having to move bits out the way and sat in an area filled with flies buzzing around each table. Horrendous. Will not ever go here again, Squires - sort out this restaurant - it is letting you down big style.

Not sure where my previous review has gone from when staff were shouting at a customer in 2015 but cafe refurbished and new staff. Four of us for lunch, 2 shepherds pie, 1 home made lasagne and 1 jacket potato with coronation chicken ordered. Staff pleasant, cafe clean. Potato arrived 1225 with promise of the rest of the order on the way. After 10 minutes of waiting I returned the jacket potato explaining we wanted to eat together. Young man apologised but woman in kitchen shouted “ we’ve only got 2 microwaves “. Wasn’t quite sure what was meant by this and clearly the home made lasagne made nowhere near here but returned to table to wait. Shepherds pies arrived 12.45 with lasagne close behind. A few minutes later so did my (same and now cold) jacket potato. As we were meeting family after lunch I didn’t bother to complain again. We never get this poor service at West Horsley Squires, it just seems to be a pattern at Buckland. Woman rude and incompetent, young people serving were pleasant as was the older lady table clearing. Pies were apparently fine although veggies very wet and soft, they had different veg. Lasagne was nice.

You don't usually expect too much from a garden centre cafe but this one is really good. Good breakfasts and lunches with varied choice, good quality and well cooked; only complaint would be the price for a piece of cake at around £4, makes a 12 slice (or more) cake a bit pricey which is a shame.

The café is at the back of the garden centre and in warmer weather you can sit outside. The food is solid and simple, freshly cooked and a decent serving. My mushroom soup, for example, was freshly made, very tasty and served piping hot. Cakes are also home made and very moreish. Order at the counter from friendly staff and the food is brought to your table. A good place for a lunch / brunch / breakfast or just coffee.

This delightful cafe is an ideal place to meet up with friends/family for coffee or a satisfying and reasonably-priced meal. There is a good choice of menu for either breakfast or lunch and although there are no wait staff the meal is brought to your table by a server. At the appropriate season there is also outside seating.Apart from the coffee shop there is a good variety of plants in the outside area and inside there is garden furniture and plant treatments.Inside you will find a wide range of decorative items in china and glass as well as handbags and scarves, and the eye-catching cakes as you enter the centre taste as good as they look.

I wouldn’t stay again. Hopefully the pub is alright but the rooms just don’t do it for me. Cobwebs on the walls, dirty hand prints around the light switch, crumbs on the floor. Pillows were maybe as old as me and had no substance to them and whilst the bottom bed sheet was clean there was no top sheet, just a duvet which I felt had not been washed since the last guest, it didn’t smell fresh. At under £40 for a single room it could be considered good value but it’s not a place I will return to.

Closed Permanently. I live nearby and sadly another idyllic venue closes. The Volunteer is tucked away forever now I’m told. Sold to a property developer who’s ideas are not to reopen or refurb as a pub.
