The Old Crown in Mole Valley

After changing many landlords, trying to be a posh restaurant, a pizzeria, a sports bar and just the village pub-which is what this establishment was most successful at (in particular during lockdown it provided a welcome chilling opportunity with its large beer garden and kids area) … this longstanding local pub has closed down. Bookham locals will miss its familiar band nights and outdoor summer time drinking

I’ve only been in the pub a few times and every time I’ve been in here I’ve always felt really welcomed! The staff were absolutely amazing and looked after us all evening even though it was busy. We had an amazing time!! We will definitely be recommending this pub to everyone!! Thank you guys, see you soon!!

A nice garden area but service was offhand and only interested in the regulars several who were loud and worse the wear from drinking too much alcohol which made our short visit unpleasant

My family and I love it here! The kids love the playground and bouncy castle and we are always made to feel so welcome! So grateful to have a wonderful pub with the loveliest staff so close to home!

I love The Crown. If you want a fun night out at a classic boozer, this is the place. All the staff are truly wonderful, Hayley, Simon, Sharna & Kate all make you feel incredibly welcome and are a right laugh to be around! Great drinks offers, wonderful garden & even a playground for the kids!

When served at the bar we were not made made to feel welcome. The server was more interested in chatting to friends/customers t the bar and we were an inconvenience. It is in our opinion a pub geared to the younger generation which sadly we are do not qualify for this category. To say the least we felt uncomfortable finished our drink as quickly as possible and moved to a much nicer pub just up the road

Band nights, live music, bingo!! Drink offers and prosecco for £13 on Friday and Saturday can’t go wrong!

Went here for a beer with a mate. We were greeted in a polite and friendly way when we approached the bar to order. As the weather was so nice we sat outside in the large garden which is well maintained and has plenty of space. The pub is clearly a family orientated one as it caters for kids and had a bouncy castle outside as well as a play area. If you prefer to not be seated near raucous kids there's plenty of space to sit away from the play area. We only drank on this visit so can't comment on the food. The bar area is nice and spacious with plenty of room and seating. They offer a nice selection of beers and spirits so you should find something you'll like.

This is a seriously proffesionally run establishment. The beer is always top notch thanks to the efforts of all, well trained staff. The food is bar food, but good value for money, and the atmosphere is amazing, especially in the evenings. Bands play here regularly, along with open mic nights, with some incredible local talent. Good humour, good food, and excellent beer! What more could one ask! 6 star rating!

We did not enjoy our visit go the Old Crown in Great Bookham Hih Street . We met friends here. The service was very abrupt and you felt the staff could not care less certainly not welcoming. It was very rowdy and we did feel a little uncomfortable. We will not be returning.

Good place to hang out after work, good drinks and food, snooker and darts. Miss the jukebox though.

Well kept Surrey Hills beers (Shere Drop and Greensand IPA), plenty of space and massive beer garden. Tables and chairs were a bit primitive, more suited to a younger audience, which would go with the bar full of different shots.

What a great, friendly, welcoming pub. Amazing food available, great selection of beers, wine, spirits, soft drinks AND tea and coffee!! A truly traditional village pub made amazing by the lover lady in charge and her team

Loved this Pub! Authentic, a stones throw from Poulsden & Lacey, and clean. Staff are very friendly and didn’t miss a beat with our first time visit. Will come here again for spring and summer as they’ve got a huge and gorgeous garden Highly recommended and family friendly.!

After a long time visiting crown, the new(ish) landlady has done a wonderful job, really friendly staff, child friendly garden with swings etc and a bouncy castle in the nice weather, the beers VERY well looked after and great food from the bus😁

2022 update: much improved. Great service and excellent guest beers including 2019 champion Shere Drop. 2021 review: Basic pub. Clean and nicely decorated. Games room and sport on TV. Slow service and could do with a change of guest ales. Nice garden in summer.

We used this pub for my daughter's gender reveal party on Sunday afternoon, the pub staff were great, very welcoming and did a very nice buffet for £10 per head - there was loads of food!! We had the rear Party Room to ourselves, with darts, snooker and a massive TV so it was great fun - highly recommend!!!

we found the Old Crown to be very "Clicky". The service was slightly offhand. Also music was loud. we are pensioners and this pub probably is more suitable for the younger generation. No hot food was available

What a great pub, plenty if atmosphere and characters, good beer but no food. Pub games are there too, darts, pool, fruit machines and football is shown.

The old crown is a unique pub in the middle of a unique bustling village High Street in Great Bookham unfortunately they are not doing food but you can order locally and eat in they have a very big gin and vodka collection along with cocktails beers lagers and real ales kids play area a miniature pincer and 2 giant rabbits

I have been to this pub twice. First time in the garden which was lovely. Second time inside the pub inside. It was terrible music too loud and nowhere to sit without speakers blasting out could not hold a conversation. Will not go,again unless weather is nice enough to sit outside.

Ordered the beef Sunday roast, beef was like leather, the parsnips were undercooked and the broccoli was watery and cold. I won’t pass comment on the leek in cheese sauce as it’s not something I enjoy anyway. Had I not been so hungry I would have sent it back as the food was barely warm. The only redeeming features were the potatoes, carrots and gravy. I hear the burgers etc are decent enough but I shan’t be ordering a Sunday roast there again even if it is only £11

Quiet pub, lovely interior and nice selection of drinks. They serve food. The beer garden is lovely and well maintained, there's also a nice climbing frame/play area for children. Nice place for a hour in the sun with family or friends drinking a beer.

I found Bar Maid Rude, obnoxious and in general she didnt want to be there!! she spoiled the atmosphere!!

Having been to this pub a couple of years ago, and again a couple of weeks ago, the difference is night and day. The pub is under new ownership and undergone a major revamp. It's much brighter than before. Reasonable prices, and this is the local pub I meet my local friends at.

I visited the Old Crown last week and found it was very good. I can't understand the comment by "Tom" - I assume he's a competitor? The pub 's Landlord Martin was very friendly and we had a very good meal. The beer was well kept and overall, I thought the Old Crown was in good hands.

its a right dump the owners are right chavs & cant run a pub they loose staff very quickly due to being bad owners they dont open for food on a daily basis or on time. dont tidy up tables after use. needs a big re furb over all the pub & new owners its a very drinkie pub which is not a good thing.
