The New Dukes Head in Mole Valley

Went as a large group and booked a table for 8:30,when we arrived there was a half naked bloke arm wrestling at a table with his trainers strewn across the floor,at the bar the bar staff said ya better hurry up as the chef finishes at 9(so why take the booking for 8:30),the menu was poor and what Indian eaterie has pork belly vindaloo on the menu?? One of our group asked to speak to the chef,and asked him if he can cook a balti,and he didn't know what one was! The beer was extortionate,so we decided to leave after one drink and go to spoonys across the road,don't rate this place at all,terrible,however I do rate the chicken shop down the road

The grilled chicken breast with veggies was absolutely delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, while the veggies were crisp and bursting with freshness. It was a healthy and satisfying meal that left me feeling nourished and satisfied. Overall, a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a wholesome and tasty dish.

Noticing the excellent mid week special offer dinner option we decided to give it a go and we were not disappointed. 3 courses for £15 what’s not to like plus other options. From a variety of choices we chose calamari and garlic mushrooms followed by goan fish curry and tantum gourmet burger, we decided to go for the 3rd course option of chocolate brownie . All courses were beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious . Highly recommend just give it a go. Please give this place a chance we need to support local business , if you don’t use it well loose it. We certainly will be returning . This could be a fantastic gourmet pub lovely outside area too with excellent food just what we need but the locals need to support the local businesses trying to make a go of things . And the bottle of wine was excellent !!

So unprofessional and nobody should ever go to a place where they get away with crimes. They should seriously reorganize some staff and get rid of them.

This pub was like a kindergarten inside , kids running riot while parents sat outside. Challenged barman and he said nothing he could do as kids were friends of landlord. No way to run a pub

We are camping this weekend and wanted somewhere to watch the Coronation. The chain pub across the road didn’t appeal so we asked in here. The lady behind the bar was really welcoming and told us they’d be screening the event from 11.00 on Saturday. We returned today and were pleasantly surprised to find Indian food on the menu. We sat in a comfortable area close enough to watch and hear the TV, and enjoyed a lovely meal. The staff were very friendly and the owner came to check that everything was ok. We will definitely return on our next visit to Leatherhead

Always have a really lovely night out at the Dukes, all the staff are really lovely, the food and drinks are amazing and the atmosphere is wonderful - would always recommend!!

First time trying the brand new Indian Restaurant side of this pub. They serve authentic Indian/Mumbai street food, and lots of interesting things on the menu - not just your average "British Indian" food. All very tasty and reasonably priced with friendly staff. A must go for dinner in Leatherhead.

This was, without a doubt, one of the best nights I’ve had out in so long. The food was terrific, the staff were kind and extremely attentive (without feeling like there was someone looking over your shoulder constantly), the atmosphere was excellent - if you haven’t been since the reopening, you are seriously missing out

I've stayed in pub hotels of varying standards from the most pitiful unkempt to those that boast style, sophistication and grandeur. This falls somewhere in between. The food I had here was actually not bad but I found some of the service below par, for instance waiting for the meal took longer than it ought to have done. The manager or owner was apologetic and polite and offered me a free drink on the house which was nice of him. Other than that I'd have no hesitation in recommending this place to others as the pricing is reasonable and here is atmosphere is good too.

Just got a pint here in the newly opened Duke's Head, loved the vibe and selection offered. They have a lovely selection of 12 draught beers and ale's to choose from. Under a new management now it seems and they are very helpful and cheerful. Will be visiting here soon again. Would surely recommend this place to everyone in Leatherhead, a must visit now in High Street.

Great night spent there with friends.

Last night my friend and her wife got asked to leave the dukes head pub in Leatherhead because they were gay. After being heckled continuously by two men in the pub and speaking to the land lady explaining what happened she responded “well if you’re telling people she is your wife you’re asking for it”. P.s the men were allowed to continue drinking in the pub and had a glass of red on the house for the inconvenience.

Last night - A gay MARRIED couple were at the pub. They had a right by law to go there and enjoy time together as a married couple. 2 men who were patrons got offended of the fact these two women were a married couple and then started to hurl abuse at them. When’s he married couple told the landlady her response was “well if you tell them you are a married couple, you were asking for it” The me continued to drink at the pub and got given a glass of house red for the “inconvenience” This is against the law to discriminate! People and businesses in 2022 should know better by now! Disgusting

Unbelievably rude and aggressive ‘owner’ who screamed at my female friend who is half his size. Never seen anything like it, despite being our local I won’t be going there again.

Pub owner, that's how he addressed himself, extremely rude and unwelcoming. We pulled into the car park looking for a missing person and he has immediately started shouting that we weren't welcome, they weren't open and generally utterly rude. For an industry that needs business you'd think he'd be a bit more polite

regretfully, this is still a largely avoidable place! which is such a shame after the great efforts to refurb a few years back! but unfortunately, much of the same crowds from before walked straight back in there. I feel for the property owner as there was a great effort to turn this place around! The interior and exterior décor is really nice, the area out front is much better and the side garden is a nice spot too! This has the makings to be a very nice pub, but the continued crowds from before, who can spark off over nothing remain. Its a shame as the staff for the most part are very nice and welcoming but you can't say the same of the usual crowd that drink there. The same usual sight of people who cant behave, getting aggressive and threatening with others, namely with those who aren't part of the 'usual' crowd, still remain (not all of course, but there is a crowd of them that exist which the pub seem reluctant to do anything about!). Its a real shame! there are so many people that just won't even entertain the idea of going here still for these exact reasons.

A fantasticly cosy pub with excellent service, simply astounding food and a good selection of on tap beers. The real surprise of the evening was the flat bread in their jerk meat platter, the jerked meat was spicy and well seasoned, but the flat bread blew them all away on flavour. The Scampi was light, crispy and piping hot. I would also highly recommend the Chili squid with jerk mayo. Different, but delicious.

Nice atmosphere really friendly staff

Our last day before lockdown was at the dukes head in Leatherhead and we enjoyed every moment. We stayed in a Party of 4 for a couple of hours and enjoy the dukes platter and of course some drinks. Natasha was very welcoming and friendly Thanks for making the last day before lockdown worth it

After seeing some of the reviews on here I was reconsidering in giving this pub a visit however I am glad II decided to give this pub a visit as I had a wonderful experience the staff was friendly and the food was delicious at a very good price!

Never left a review for anything before but had to under the circumstances. Rude and unhelpful staff that seemed annoyed at having to do anything for customers, had to wait an eternity for service even after going up to the bar and asking for service multiple times, then another eternity waiting for drinks and food to arrive, then the drinks and food were wrong, when mentioned (politely) they just shrugged it off as if to say "not my problem". They also overcharged us. The food was absolutely vile to top it all off. Will never return while still under the new management as they clearly don't have the first idea how to run a pub. Do yourself a favour and go to the wetherspoons or the penny black down the road.

Gentleman with moustache (sorry didn’t catch your name) who greeted us was very warm and welcoming. Lunch was tasty and fresh. Quirky decor. We enjoyed our visit.

Shown to a table by lady floor walker around 7pm, few customers inside. Gave up waiting to be served with a drink after at least 10mins. Not good, left with no intention to return..

WARNING NEW OWNER IS AGGRESSIVE AND NASTY. The food was disgusting and my roll had mould on it, when I complained the owner told me I could have a refund and then f*** off out his pub, he called me names and then chased me outside into the garden I thought he was going to attack me but instead he just threw the mouldy food at me, service is appalling to top it all off DO NOT GO HERE never seen a pub so poorly run. See below for the grease stains from the nasty food he threw at me

This used to be my local many moons ago, so was curious to know why it had been renamed ‘’TheNewDukesHead ‘’. Yes it’s been refurbished, the outside space at the back is pleasant enough, the toilets were clean, they offered table service.........and then it all went downhill from there. The car park was locked , so we had to use the pay & display in the Swan Centre..The Guinness pump wasn’t working, nor were the ales available, as for the food, 70% of the food wasn’t available! It transpired that this was there first day of opening since being taken over by Greene King. Surely it would have done better to have waited until they had all their ducks in a row rather than this half cocked attempt of reopening ? Having read the previous reviews & gone on those recommendations, it was, sadly, a disappointing experience .👎

Super sweet and friendly staff. They even let us double park! Chef was friendly and helpful too, asking us how spicy we wanted it. Being Indian myself, I felt in good hands talking to an Indian chef. I was not disappointed. The food is some of the best Indian food I’ve eaten, outside of India and my parents Indian community. 3 of us ate a full vegetarian menu for less than £40. The chili Mogo (cassava chips) are to die for. The staff weren’t really wearing their masks. Some of the clientele were a bit... you know.

Lovely food.. Especially for people wanting to try Indian cuisines, this is the place.. The chef has magical hands for sure.. Lovely ambience. Lovely staff.. Food freshly made upon order. A must try..

Went in for the Duchess's bust, but I was disappointed. Anyway! I ended up with nice pints of crispy ales! I wonder when the bust will eventually be in there because The Duke's Head can never exist without the corresponding bust. I will make another trip in there again: may be I will be lucky then and the bust might be in there.

The pub itself is nice, good decor and plenty of TVs for sport. The menu has changed again and is missing some of my old favourites which is a shame (miss you veggie platter and junglee fries 😘). My main gripe, and why I've given two stars is the service, which is unfathomably slow. At the moment there never seems to be any staff on, so you wait at the bar for about 10 minutes until either a chef or the bossman come to the bar. The bossman greets you with a grunt, looks angry at anything you order and then often over charges by a pound or two, leaving you with a flat beer and another grunt. To be frank I find the service rude and I'm honestly confused as to why you would choose to run a pub if you hate the work so much. My friends and I only visit this pub because it's convenient for the football, without that I'd honestly prefer an evening in the spoons opposite, and that's saying something.

Food was really nice a proper Indian in Leatherhead finally.

Good points: Lovely decor and old style pub Bad points: Absolutely shocking service and general attitude from manager who had the demeanor of someone who hated everyone and everything. Grunted a few words at us as we ordered, overcharged us by £2 (petty) and acted like customers were an inconvenience. In that regard he has nothing to fear as we will certainly not be back!

Always have the football on Premier league and European games, the food is brilliant and service is always good. My only gripe is the drinks are slightly on the pricey side I normally only drink soft drinks because I stop In on my way home from work. I mean a large coke is £3.50 my local is only £2. Other than that no issues.

Staff are good, service is good, but needs proper entertainment, not just DJ's who play same kind of music all night, It needs some really good bands, this place would be rocking!!!!!!

We had a few drinks, good price. Live music was fun on the Friday night. Bar staff very friendly and prompt. Bouncers are kind but will happily step in if prompted.

The best design of art work in this pub I have ever seen. Amazing staff, relaxing atmosphere. Plus the prettiest garden I gave seen in a long time. Well worth a visit.

Very good pub, nice outdoor area, London Glory 😍 and nice waitresses, had very nice relaxed and low-key setting outside, then also food looked decent and recommend the sweet potato fries

We had a one night stop over here when visiting the area for my nephews wedding, we were really pleased with our choice.It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking.Checkin was easy and the lady behind reception was very helpful giving us directions to get to the venue for the wedding.Rooms were well decorated and had everything you needed, ours was on the ground floor and overlooked the car park.It was clean and comfortable. The bar had a great feel to it and again, bar staff were very friendly and professional the following morning breakfast was served, I opted for the omelette, it was fantastic! Freshly cooked, steaming hot, well presented and probably the best omelette I have ever had! I would certainly stay here again if I was in the area.

I really enjoy this pub. Great atmosphere, lovely owners and good value for money! I had my 21st here and since then it's gotten even better; I would definitely recommend for dinner and drinks. Lots of opportunities to catch the current sports with family and friends.

I’ve been meaning to check out the food since the new Caribbean menu was advertised. I’m glad I did. The goat curry (both types) was excellent, as was the fried spicy okra. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The main thing that the pub needs to work on is improving the quality of its draft beer - it’s not that well-kept.

Decided to try after seeing advertisements for the Caribbean Food! Well so glad we did. The food was so delicious, fresh and warm. Great pub too, lovely decor and atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Bit cold to try but the outside areas look good too. Looking forward to coming back and working my way through the menu. Great selection to suit all.

If you like good food, go to the Dukes Head. I decided to have a family gathering to celebrate my birthday and needed somewhere local. The main priority was the food must be good, cater for young and old, spice lovers, vegetarians and self confessed food critics. The Dukes Head turned out to be ideal. With a fusion of Indian and West Indian, we were treated to a Buffett style starter (the squid and chops were exceptional) and then everyone ordered their own mains. The only complaint... There was too much! Service was great and we were well looked after by Rupesh and his team. Looks like this will be a regular for the family

I went to eat here with two friends, we didn’t have to wait to be served the staff were very friendly, my friend had a Guinness which I tried as a lot of pubs don’t do very nice Guinness but this was perfect, we sat down the pub has been refurbished and it’s really lovely, they gave us time to decide but were there as soon as they knew we were ready to take our order, we ordered, Jerk chicken, chips, coleslaw, rice, rice and peas jerk halloumi, scampi and chips, the food didn’t take too long and when it came out it was piping hot and smelt amazing and looked great the scampi and chips were lovely my friend had that, and the jerk had a nice kick like it should the chicken was fresh and so tasty the rice was lovely and the halloumi was really nice to, they checked if our meals were ok which was nice, my friends and I will defiantly be back here again and I’d highly recomned it, the menu has something for everyone on there all different foods from pub grub to curry’s and jerk chicken etc

Service slow, food hardly edible

After being taken over by new management, the new food menu is exceptional.

Phoned up to find out if it was part of a chain, as I try to avoid chain pubs, what I received was a rude and rather aggressive person on the other end of the line. As someone with vast experience within the pub trade I understand the pressures placed on managers, however this does not mitigate a hostile attitude to innocent enquiries. Having the demand of knowing who I was, who I work for and why is it my business if the company was part of a chain, I was informed that the food is good look at our website. When I asked about the drinks selection I got the curt response was "come down here and look". I certainly will not be taking a look anytime soon and will not be recommending. In a word avoid. I can only imagine the (presumably) South African manager is argumentative and lacks people skills. Shame you lost my custom in such a quick and dramatic manner.

This pub used to be a total blot in the high street. Thank God it got shut down and renovated and taken over by the Wheelans gang. The new landlord is a gorgeous fella and Tony the manager is a bundle of joy and delight. He is just so pleasant all the time.

4 of us for lunch. Took well over an hour to arrive. One meal ordered arrived incorrect 🤔 Battered fish was dubious but thankfully all OK in the end.😕 Sandwiches were beyond dismal, bread was cheap pre sliced from a supermarket but described as freshly baked. Had thought lovely homemade bread but not even close. For wholemeal sarnie got one white slice and one 50/50 slice and the same for white bread sarnie. Contents rubbish and got mayo when requested no mayo. Cost £7 for a sarnie not worth 50 pence! On the bright side Wagyu burger was good. So for meals 1 good 😊, 1 passable 🙁, 2 rubbish 🤢🤢. Drinks and staff OK to good 😐. Stands to reason we won't be going back anytime soon. Good Luck...

With a spare Sunday with nothing much to do and not wanting to go far my lady suggested that we go to the Dukes Head since it had been refurbished and with new management.

The Beer is average, as for decor...the place has definitely had a much needed revamp however the staff seem strangely on edge and the management are plane “Rude” and quiet unslightly So not going to recommend, SORRY

Wanted to have a pint or 2 on way home from a nice evening walk along the River Mole but was ordered off the front forecourt as no dogs allowed,joke, have been doing this for last 30 years,your loss Penny Black like our money so do Running Horses would have stopped at Spoons but forecout was too busy 🤔!

Much improved after the recent refurbishment. If your a fan of sport, great. Otherwise find another place as there are many tv screens that will distract from a conversation. No local beers either if your interested in this.

Visited on a Saturday night 24/03/18. Clearly the place to be in Leatherhead. Bar staff fantastic and friendly. Young lady behind bar is an asset to the place. So is the young man. Band this Saturday 24th March are really good. Fantastic atmosphere. Can't say enough good things about this pub. Never been to leatherhead before but found this gem.

Came here Saturday night. Fairly quiet. From 9 ish live music begun. What an absolute racket! Far too loud. Couldn’t have a conversation. Would be a 5 star if it wasn’t for this horrible racket. Would come mid day when it’s quiet.
