Great spot for a morning coffee and a sweet treat, why not. Go there if you are in the area.

The top waitress there just left for another job....big lose...and it shows... this WAS a great place. Service is now a bit hit and miss. Food, its OK though basic. Cakes they sometimes have it sometimes not. No one seems in charge anymore. This cafe is now struggling and it shows. Get consistent again.

We dived in here after strolling up and down a freezing Dorking high street. We were lucky to get a table. The paninis and coffee were OK, nothing special,. The service was very good. Bizarrely the toilets were like something out of Chelsea flower show, very cosy!

We stopped by for a coffee and cake, we had a latte, mocha, blueberry muffin and a mince pie. All very lovely and the staff were very nice. Lovely little cafe with a real homely feel!

What an absolute find this cafe was On our way home from a short break and fell upon this lovely cafe with great friendly staff, lovely service and great coffee The scent of candles filled the air and the effort gone into decorating for Christmas, including the loo! was fab. It was a real treat and made us smile 😊 Would recommend

Unfortunately, the espresso knowledge at this establishment fell short for me, and as an enthusiast, I believe that understanding the soul of coffee is paramount. While the customer service had a decent touch, my concern extended to their coffee brewing methods, which, in my opinion, did not meet expectations. The flavor of the coffee also left much to be desired. I offer this review as constructive criticism, hoping for improvements in the future.

We have been customers of this delightful place for many many years and will continue to be for many more. Always friendly, lovely Coffee and pastries and more importantly always open on public holidays, special days and regardless of the weather conditions, so reliable and so rare these days. Fiona is a first class Manager who runs an excellent business and she is lovely with it.

Just awful. Very expensive, and they forgot my wife’s order. 40 mins wasted and no apologies from staff. If you want a coffee or something to eat in Dorking, I suggest you go to Burgundy & Black instead.

Walked in, found a table, sat down for a full ten minutes without being acknowledged or approached by staff (who were hardly run off their feet). Got up, left, went to Costa instead. I'll always support local independent shops over chains where I can, but if they can't be arsed with my business I'll have to go elsewhere.

A really cosy, relaxing place to stop for coffee and cake. The staff were very polite and friendly as well. I would have given 5 stars, but the coffee wasn't really to my liking.

Lovely place to stop on a windy rainy day food and coffee lovely

Decent enough coffee shop just off the main drag in Dorking town centre. Quirky enough to set it apart from the chains but retains sufficient decorum to keep its key clientele happy, which when we visited comprised the older generation and families. Coffee and hot chocolate were OK and although we didn't try the food, the cakes and sandwiches looked tempting. Service was friendly and efficient.

Great little personal coffee shop

My friend brought me here citing it as her “favourite cafe in Dorking” and could totally see why. The atmosphere was buzzing - it was decorated for Christmas top to bottom (even the toilets were amazing!). The coffees and cakes were delicious too. Such a lovely cafe.

Nice atmosphere and decor. Seemed experienced behind the counter. Front of house staff seemed young, new and still learning, but very pleasant.

Was told it would take 25 mins for croque masseur. Cheese on toast with ham. Took 35 minutes at £9.50 each, plus £3.50 for a bottle of diet coke. Way over the top and still don't take cards. Totally over the top!!!!

Awful place full of old people. Wanted a quick hot chocolate with my wife, walked in and ordered 2no hot chocolates and whilst my wife used the facilities I was stared down by two elderly women who wanted our seats, they then opted to take up two table for four people all to themselves. The chocolate arrived, I can't call it hot chocolate as I was able to chug it down in one go, so tepid at best. Cash only was also the way to pay, we are moving away from cash yet places like this expect only cash with no warning on the door!!!

Lovely Cozy nice place and always been nice decorated and lovely modern design and decorations I Like the most. Its quality café there and also in summer Healthly smoothies coctails milkshakes. Small place with nice coffee and cake. Cosy place, where you can sit behind the window to see shoppers go by whilst relaxing with a hot drink. Not busy on a weekday. As good as in the centre of town. All shops within walking distance. Parking in the car park down the bottom of Marks & Spencers.

Rude staff, no food served and cash only. It’s a real shame as it used to be great here.

Had lunch with friends. Panini very good. Staff friendly except tried to get their attention to get a drink but the girl simply ignored me and served another!

Nice coffee shop in Dorking Town centre. Good range snacks and salads too. Good service from staff.

Deco is nice and so was the coffee. Only take cash, don't tell you until after your order arrives. No excuse not to take cards in this day and age. Service was not very attentive, food was cold. A few tweaks and it could be great.

Cosy festive atmosphere, nice decor and clean. Lack of vegan options but happy to make up an off menu sandwich which was nice and fresh, and had plant milks for coffee. Good hot coffee and very nice home made mince pies. Down side - a little overpriced, only take cash and not very attentive waitresses.

Stopped here for something to eat before catching the train to London. Had a coffee and a chicken and avocado sandwich. Both delicious. I sat outside at their other outlet just a few yards down from the main cafe.

Lovely friendly welcome and a nice warm Christmas atmosphere.Went with my 8 year old grand daughter and we only had tea and lemonade and shared a salmon croissant and fries - all was very well presented.Everything very clean with screens protecting tables and allowing personal spaceOur visit to the toilet was quite a highlight - it was like a visit to Aladdins Cave - I won't say more, but what a lovely touch for the children - Make sure you look in the suitcase!!.

Such a lovely feel inside the place! My husband and I happened to walk past and it was like stepping into Santa’s grotto! Prices are a bit expensive but it is a lovely Christmas experience!

We came to Dorking to browse the antique shops and came across this charming coffee shop. The home made cakes (not sure if they actually were, but they looked it) were absolutely gorgeous and tasted delicious. A wide selection of flavours and the cost was reasonable. The staff were friendly and helpful.We will definitely return if we go back to Dorking as the High Street was a bit shabby in places and this coffee shop was down a walk way.

This place is amazing and the staff are just so friendly, going out of their way to help. The atmospehre is cosy and warm and the coffees and other drinks are good too - especially the mint hot chocolate! I don'lt know about the food as I have never tried that, but the menu certainly looks good so I suspect I ought to!

I was looking around for coffee and stumbled onto this lovely little place. Got really good coffe at a great price. The venue is lovely and really cosy. They have great selection of cakes which look really fresh and tasty. You could easily spend the afternoon in this place. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Nice decor, attentive staff but the cake was horrible, not freshly made as I'd hoped. Also pricey for the quality of food.

Well I like it being cashless. There's a nice gentle pace in the place where there are very few irritating people. No one seems in a hurry to leave. The menu is simple but just right for a easy lunch or snack. Bit nicer than being "on the hoof" - save that for Costa. Rather like the unassuming waitresses too. Always polite, gently getting on with it and well worth tipping at the end of the visit. The toilet facilities are a pleasant surprise and it's good to be in an independent coffee shop in the centre of town with a quiet buzz.

Don’t know why there is a picture of burger and chips as you can’t get that here! Good selection of drinks and lunch items such as sandwiches, jacket potatoes and cakes. They only take cash which is annoying as I tend to use contactless card for everything these days.

I've walked past Fothergills many times on my trips to Dorking, the fascia is dark and not terribly eye-catching and I've not given it any thought before. However, a friend took me there this week and I was very pleasantly surprised when we got inside. The interior although quite dark, is cosy, warm and clean, and the service is friendly and attentive without being annoying. We had coffee (great) and an enormous piece of Bakewell Tart (tasty). In fact, I was so impressed that I took my husband there today (13/6/19) and we had coffee again, panini and goats' cheese tart (both very tasty). Fothergills is a great find.

We visit here every few weeks and it really is lovely. The staff are friendly and efficient and the menu has a good selection! The cakes are delicious. The decor is thoughtful - there was an Easter display on the counter too!

I have lunch there every week. Great food, friendly service and so reasonable. Definitely go to the ladies or men’s room, like walking into a garden.

Cosy looking cafe and the coffee was OK rather than outstanding. But the main issue for me is it only takes cash and not cards. Why in this day and age would a place only take cash?

This cafe only takes cash - seems restricted for 2018, but the coffee is tasty and the service very friendly. You can also get light food here and choose either comfortable sofas or tables. High chairs also available.

We came across this gem of a coffee shop by chance, during recent visit to Surrey. The set up and atmosphere of the establishment is very family and couples friendly. The design of the place is well thought out and invites you to relax and enjoy a fantastic cup of coffee.

This is a lovely little place, very cosy inside and tastefully decorated; the service is excellent, as is their range of coffees, pastries and snacks. Great place to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee, a mid day light lunch or just a snack.

I popped into Fothergills in Dorking for a coffee and cake. It had a lovely friendly atmosphere and seemed very popular with the locals. The coffee was great and the lemon cake tasted home made - which was great.. The staff were very friendly and professional- can highly recommend.

A nice enough little cafe in the centre of Dorking serving a good selection of drinks, light lunches and cakes. Lovely ambience and good service. Problem is CASH ONLY - what a pain!

As you set foot in the door you are greeted by a member of staff who instead of saying "welcome" points out to you that they only deal in cash, no cards here' not what you expect. the prices are silly, £3.50 for a 375mm bottle of water is unacceptable. Will not visit again

Stopped by with a friend for a catch-up. The place was very busy but we found a cosy table at the back. The staff have embraced Halloween and the whole place has been decorated to the hilt including a plastic spider on our table! The cake and coffee were great and we were so busy chatting we didn't notice that the place had emptied out. There was no attempt to push us out or encourage us to leave so top marks to the friendly staff. If I visited Dorking more often I would definitely visit regularly. yes it is cash only but we were alerted to this at the start so there was no nasty surprise when the time came to pay the bill.

Fothergills has lovely, comfy seats and is a calm, peaceful coffee shop where you can unwind after a stressful shopping expedition. The coffee is good, service excellent and food freshly prepared.

Nice enough, good coffee and nice people, but the most expensive in the town, and there are a lot of options, so that is going some.

If you want somewhere to sit after a hard morning's shopping this is the place. The seats are super comfy, the atmosphere peaceful and the coffee and cakes wonderful. A very civilised place to reflect on what you shouldn't have bought.

Ordered off the two course lunch menu. From start to finish the food was very good. Rich in taste and professionally presented. Service was a little slow which took a shine off the experience but apart from that Brilliant! Would defiantly come back!

Asked for 2 teas one coffee, some how they all tasted strange, maybe dur to the water?, asked to change them but was the same, one cake was OK, bottled water at £3 a small bottle was expebsive, the place could have been nice, if we had better drinks

We recently had a lovely pre Christmas visit to Fotheringills. It was decked out with the most fantastic Christmas decorations - including the best decorated toilets ever!Milkshake was one of the best, delicious and fresh bruschetta, and the gluten free cake was to die for. I've a feeling Fotheringills may become a regular stop for us!

Rude little man that works there being nasty to staff I would strongly recommend you avoid as it only cheap coffee from sainburys.

Pleasant service in comfortable chairs. The restaurant is often themed for festivals and the Christmas decorations last year were amazing. The coffee could be stronger but you can ask for an extra shot. The loos are always spotless!

We were welcomed as parent and toddler and staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Cake was delicious (huge slices) and coffee good. It was cash only, but they did tell us when we arrived. Lots of unusual things to look at. lovely calm gem in Dorking.

The cafe's located in a good position within the St Martin's Walk precinct. Popped in for a lunchtime hot drink with my wife and a friend - surprised to find it quite empty. Counter staff were very friendly and bring your order to the table which is handy. Seats are comfortable, interior clean, drinks good and prices reasonable.

Only popped in for a quick cup of tea with an associate, but very pleasant surroundings and nice - didn't have a cake or anything else but I can imagine it would have been good.

The latte was to die for. The Summer wrap was bursting with taste. The place was immaculate, and the serving staff both attentive and polite. Oh yes, the toilets 100% Good price too!!!!
