The outside of the place looks run down, dirty and absolutely terrible. Did Costa even bother trying to make a beautiful building look at least half decent? I think not. Inside is average, put together with no thought, pseudo-modern servery counter slap bang in front of the most beautiful inglenook fireplace made me want to cry! Drinks were lovely, young girl on the counter helpful despite being a little bolshy and sarcastic, but as there seemed to be no other management or authority figure there despite the long queue I can imagine it’s quite stressful.

Use this Costa when in New Romney area and generally it is quite good. Service could be more friendly at times and tables should be properly cleaned more often.

Pleasant staff, nice coffee and half price lemon muffins! We discovered by chance that it actually has a free car park behind it. If you turn left immediately before Costa (heading in the Hastings direction ) you will find it.

Love the place very nice atmosphere. A nice treat for a day out. Staff are very friendly too. Best costa I've been too.

Came back after some 3 years absence and this place has not changed. The decor is outdated and needs a complete overhaul. I think a good cleaning would help.

Despite the title of this review, I gave this Costa 5 stars for their quick and friendly service, only took about 5 minutes to get my order and it was so worth it. My personal favourite is the Belgian chocolate frostino with whipped cream and no coffee. Although the prices are what some would call overpriced - so is the entire company. So long as you know what you're paying for, all will be fine. Would recommend x

Needs sprucing up on the outside and staff could work a bit more efficiently but coffee tastes good in Costa so we’ll keep on going!

First off it’s worth noting. It’s still a Costa. So the food/drinks will be what you expect/get in any Costa. So if your doing takeaway. You’ll likely be chuffed if you like costa. In their defence for some of our groups niggles, there is only so much they could have done with the layout given that it was formerly a public house/ unusual shape etc. However space doesn’t seem that well utilised. Entrance not really user friendly. Generally quite dark and gloomy - feel cozy could have been achieved, but not enough care put in. Massive shame there not utilising the space upstairs in the property or more seating could be provided. Doesn’t have the same light airy feel as other costas, and staff definitely not as professional or well trained as other local costas either. More than one point a member of staff was on her phone. That being said. They are friendly enough staff. Being a small town you can tell they know there locals and have a chat - this is always nice especially in a town with such a high proportion of elderly visitors. Also noted the takeaway cups for inside drinks, but this wasn’t for everyone seated. So may have been some personal preference. Overall it was ok. Drinks as expected. Somewhere warm to sit and enjoy a slice of (average) cake. But has more potential than its reaching I feel. There is wheelchair access from front and rear of property. Limited parking at rear of property -though please note their are restrictions on this and CCTV monitored so fines issued instantly if time exceeded by private parking company.

When visting new romney costa i was having drinks with my friend and looked over a barrista was going on break but proceded to have a cigerette hanging out of her mouth in store before leaving to go outside premises for one then smelt when come in pood hygiene in toilet smelt of urine not impressed

Weak tasteless Flat white. The place just seems shabby and dirty on the outside, no atmosphere inside. Coffee served in take away cups, for sitting in ?? Why ! 3 nice friendly staff. Feels uncared for... perhaps Costa are giving up on this one. Lacks

I use Costa a lot all over the UK, this was on a par with many of the others, I particularly appreciated the friendliness of the staff.

Costa is Costa wherever you go but this one I found had a few niggles. Staff do not seem to be very well trained and as pleasant as other Costa’s. For some unknown reason when I visited for a eat in I was told by my wife when she returned to the table that they were only giving drinks in take-away cups, although there were loads of cups on display, If I am paying for a eat in cup I don’t want to drink out of a cardboard one. On leaving the inside handle to the door was missing and the member of staff had to prise the door open to let us out, the staff member said that it had come off a couple of hours ago and was a real pain. WELL GET IT FIXED THEN.

The weakest Costa Coffee restaurant I have come across - do the baristas need more training? Coffee not as good as other Costa's, staff not sure of ingredients of products - surely these should be clearly labelled.

Great coffee. That is the most important thing. And great fresh muffin too. Very prompt and courteous service. An example of a comfortable, uncrowded, coffee shop. Immaculate loos. A very relaxing experience. Well recommended

Situated on the High Street in what was the New Inn, this is a very nice Costa. Usual menu and service but a very nice layout for a relaxed coffee. There is some free parking on the High Street, but spaces are scarce. One street behind there is a pay car park or some free on street by the Church.

Not one of the better costas staff not attentive had to repeat 4 times what i wanted. Will visit again to see if one off as I like costa coffee

We all love a Costa coffee. Love the fact that they have utilised an old public house for a coffee shop. Good service and well..typical Costa really.

Pleasant service and only place open when we needed coffee. It was a quick in and out as we had a hike to do.

I know this is just a Costa, but the building is full of memories. Now operating from the New Inn pub this Costa is a little different. The old fire place is still there and some of the old panelling. Usual Costa food and coffee but a lovely place to stop if you ever ventured in this old pub of the past.

Great place to sit and watch the world go by. Service was a little slow but ok if you are not in a rush.

Great coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. Comfy chairs ,nice decor,clean toilets. Wheelchair access and a friendly service.

As a local to the area I was really pleased to welcome a trusted brand in Costa.

Tables needed clearing and my much anticipated flat white wasn't hot enough (it went cold quickly ). My equally anticipated brownie was half the size of brownie consumed in Costa Folkestone a few months ago.

We decided to stop off on the way home for a quick coffee, we were soon severed and the coffee was up to there usual standards.. Soon found a seat and used the free wifi.. Good experience.

Pleasant cheerful staff who were a bit disorganised, but it was a bank holiday and we were glad to get in the warm as the restaurant we had expected to eat was closed even though I had checked it would be open.

Friendly and helpful staff always willing to help and service with a smile. I'm a wheelchair user so sometimes require a little assistance. This shop has a small kerb size step at front but there is level access at the rear via a fire exit. Staff always willing to help.

Great fan of Costas wherever I travel always my coffee shop of choice. This one however seems unfinished doesnt have the normal ambience.

Coffee great nice staff. It was early evening not busy but the tables were not very clean which was a shame as it spoilt the memory of our visit. There was certainly time for the tables to be tided

Visited a couple of times, its is nice to pop in and grab a smoothie whilst out and about. Has been really nicely done up inside. The staff are friendly and I think this is a nice addition to the Highstreet

A local person, pleased to have Costa Coffee on the High Street. The remodelling has not included a level access. Yesterday the deep step in- a big problem, with sunglasses on etc. Earlier in the week two 'flapping' stuck on notices on the doorway, now removed to be replaced with warning signs on the main door.

Was driving down to see relatives in Greatstone early in the morning. On driving through New Romney at 7am saw there was a Costa and it was open. Pulled over on the opposite side of the road, several parking spaces just opposite the coffee shop and went it. The decor is tastefully done, and they have retained some of the features of the pub that it previously was, which was nice. Very spacious inside and the staff were lovely. Had a cappuccino and a panini, which was just what I needed as had been up since 5. I have since read articles on

Was visiting relatives in greatstone, made an early start and was driving through new Romney just after 7am. Saw there was a Costa and it was open. Pulled over, there are several parking spaces on the opposite side of the road. It was obviously a pub prior to being converted by Costa. the decor is very nice and it is spacious inside. Had a coffee and a panini. The food and staff were great. It was nice to find a place to stop that early in the morning.
