. 🤞 volveremos antes de 2029 . . . 🤣🤣

I need to do this quickly before it becomes irrelevant. I've seen other reviews criticising the condition of this restaurant recently. Those reviewers probably weren't aware that the owners (Whitbread) are closing it in two weeks! Consequently, my review isn't so much about the building or the food as it it about the staff. I was there on business which meant dinner on arrival day and breakfast on departure day. Because it's closing soon, choice was limited so that's not really open for discussion. In reality, I had the same dinner meal I'd had at a London branch a couple of days earlier. This was SO much better!! It really was - and I properly enjoyed it. Nothing to fault in any way. What struck me though was the attitude of the staff - all of whom will be out of work in two weeks - they were amazing!! I can't get over the manner, the attitude, the buoyancy and the general ambience around them. Amazing under the circumstances and it wasn't limited to one or a select few - it was something shared across the entire team. Beyond that, the morning crew were very much the same (though different people). I can't comment on the decision to close - that's a commercial decision for the owners - but if you operate a hospitality business anywhere nearby, slip in for a meal and if you agree with what I found, hire some of these people. You're unlikely to regret it! There's little point in saying more because as I've said, in two weeks' time, it's all over but if this goes anyway to helping any of that amazing team of people move on, it will have been worth my writing!!

We were in Winchester for the first time with our dog and was recommended this pub by someone local. Being dog friendly we unsure about what it would be like inside but it was a lovely clean pub which was very welcoming. The staff provided a water bowl and treat for the dog and our food was really nice! The pub itself also has a terrace with heaters which look over the river. I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about coming here, especially if you have a dog :)

Found this place by chance whilst searching the net for b&bs in Basingstoke. How lucky we were-it's a little gem. Located right next to the River Lodden, it's an old mill which has been tastefully renovated so that it has lost none of its charm. The reception/bar area is tastefully dressed and the area leading down to the restraunt gave us a big surprise as all the old works of the mill were on display. The area outside had plenty of seating alongside the river bank. The accommodation of 12 rooms are situated in a quieter area away from the main building. Our room had a huge king size bed, plenty of storage and a big walk in shower. The room was very clean and tidy and we had a good sleep. We ate in the outer bar area and the food was top notch. The description pub grub does not do it justice. We had fish and chips and it was excellently cooked with a light, crisp batter-just as we like it. Breakfast was included in the room rate and again was excellent. We had the eggs benedict. Finally, and importantly a big thank you to the staff who were polite, attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, so a big 10/10 for them. Will definitely return and recommend it for sure.

First time going for lunch. Just my friend and I. We ordered Prawn Avocado Rose Marie sauce sandwiches which were advertised as being accompanied with potato skins and salad. We were asked if we wanted white, brown or granary bread etc. £12.95. Sounded perfect. We waited 40 minutes (we were initially told there may be a bit of wait due to a large party at another table). We were served standard thin slices of bread (I expected lovely crust granary bread) no avocado in the sandwich and a few very small prawns (this could have been made in minutes) and was served with a salad and chips - not potato skins. It wasn’t the luxurious sandwich advertised from the menu. It was disappointing to say the least. No one came and asked if everything was ok whilst eating and the waitress had an attitude. We won’t be going back !!

We went for a Sunday roast with our adult kid who just graduated from Oxford. I had been wanting to go in since visiting Oxford last year as the pub looked warm and inviting. The food was amazing: delicious roast beef (and chicken for my husband) with excellent Yorkshire pudding and beautifully roasted vegetables, topped by a scrumptious sticky toffee pudding. Other patrons were lovely and friendly as well. Highly recommend!

I visited late afternoon, not wishing to go home and cook a meal. I initially ordered a drink and decided to browse the food menu. There was a good selection of items, so I decided to order a "Dirty Burger". I ordered it in a specific way and was pleased to note my requests were fully accommodated. As the pub became busier, service became slower. It took a while to receive my bill. The restuarant was very clean, but there was no soap available in the toilet. Don't forget to enter your car registration on a screen as you enter, to avoid a penalty charge (I saw the notice and did so).

We were a group of 40 / 50 veterans for a buffet after a parade, the buffet was fresh and tasty including hot food and chips. I assume our organisers will use you again. Well done!

The food is good but the last time we went, the male waiter was rude. The last booking for food on a Sunday available is 4.45, as the kitchen closes at 5. The first time we booked this time, all was well except they only had one chicken dinner left. The second time we went, we were served by a male waiter who made us feel like an inconvenience. He seated us and told us we had to order fast as the kitchen was closing. I asked if there was any chicken and he replied "Is it on the menu?" which was sarcastic and unnecessary. When I explained that last time it had almost run out which is why I asked, he didn't apologise for his sarcasm. He took our food order, didn't offer us drinks and didn't come back. I had to get up and go and ask at the bar if we could have some drinks. The male waiter also kept referring us as 'girls' although we were a party of 4 women, middle aged and upwards. It was just rude. I am sure he wouldn't have called a table of mature men as 'boys'. We go out for a nice meal to have a good time, not to be spoken down to and infantilised by rude waiters.

This pub was great, the food was delicious and the staff were fantastic! We had dinner for a birthday celebration, so there were a lot of us, including kids and a baby, and they couldn't have been more hospitable. Shaun made us feel very welcome, whilst Bart and Toby waited us with perfect manners, despite the constant back and fourth with sauces and sides for the kids. Nothing was too much trouble for them! If you want great pub grub, with excellent service, this is the place for you. 5 stars!

I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews before booking as I don’t think I would have gone…however I would have missed a treat The family and I had lunch at the 4 Seasons today and was very impressed. Food was excellent, good portion size and such a large varied menu. Prices were very fair and we felt we had good value for money. My only complain is that we had a 6 year old and the childrens menu was very limited and not the usual choices which children love. I asked about this before booking and was told “ we can supply anything” My grandson wanted a burger so we had to pay full price. There were no children’s portions of deserts, or plain fruit juice…so be aware if you are taking children as their meal will probably cost as much as an adult’s Apart from that I would highly recommend the restaurant. We didn’t find it dirty or shabby; staff were lovely albeit a little slow probably due to there not being enough of them Not sure why they don’t open in the evening

My son and I visited here today for lunch, we both ordered a first course and a Sunday roast for the main course, my son having beef and myself lamb. Both of our first courses were good apart from the fact that the menu said the baked camembert was with chorizo and my son received bacon lardons instead and my scallops were without seasoning with none provided on the table. The roast main meals arrived and looked fine, I tried my lamb to find I was tasting beef so called the manager over who was serving tables, he told me it was definitely lamb but may taste like beef as it had beef gravy, I said I had never tasted flavourless lamb meat that tasted of beef and if so why would the chef cover it in beef gravy and not lamb gravy! His reply was 'so you want me to waste this food'? My reply was 'I am unhappy with the tasteless lamb but would be happy to have a chicken roast to replace it to which I was told 'No, for if I were to bring you a chicken roast you will say it is not chicken'. Unbelievably rude! I was forced to eat just the side vegetables without the potatoes as my plate had been removed. The dumb thing is, we of course asked for the lamb roast charge to be removed from the bill when if he, like any eating establishment would with an unhappy customer, gone ahead and replaced the three poor quality slices of lamb with a chicken we would have paid the full bill. My further research shows that a lamb roast that tastes like beef is lamb that is particularly lean, poorly prepared, or from an older sheep (mutton), which can result in a milder, less "gamey" flavour that is closer to beef in taste. If you are thinking of going here for a meal I would completely avoid it with the poor quality meat and the managers bad way of handling unhappy customers forcing them leave hungry and angry.
