Visited in the evening and received a lovely warm welcome, despite how busy it was. My friend and I both had scampi and chips which was delicious and we even found room for a few scoops of ice cream and sorbet which was equally divine! The landlady was so nice and friendly and we even got a free scoop of unicorn ice cream which was scrummy! Both of us love cows which was the reason for choosing this pub and it was so nice to see the place adorned with cow memorabilia and prints everywhere you look. My idea of heaven! Thank you so much for a lovely experience. Looking forward to visiting again.

Had a lovely visit to The Spotted Cow today. We had a table for nine, and being Sunday, we all had a roast. We all thought the food was delicious, and perfect portion size. Our waitress, Issy, was a credit- very warm and friendly- but professional. Would highly recommend a visit.

We were here for dinner one night whilst staying nearby. The sunny pub garden was full of people but we chose to eat in the conservatory. The landlady was very cheery, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. The landlord is the cook and a good one too. We had a nice meal and dessert. My companion had the steak and I had a breaded chicken dish. We especially liked the "coffee and cake" dessert. We were sorry that we were not in the area long enough to go again although we did go the next night to watch the morris dancers and their Austrian dancer friends.

The Spotted Cow was only a short walk from the Premier Inn where we were staying (once you've managed to get across the Roundstone Bypass!) so we thought we'd give it a try. A nice selection of beers, although a guest beer which was advertised which we wanted to try wasn't available. The Sussex Best and Landlord were both nice and reasonably priced too. The food menu was small but adequate. We had the steak and ale pie and the Sussex smokey - both very tasty, the pie was obviously home made and stuffed solid with meat, the smoked haddock was a bigger meal than it looked and I had to help my wife with some of it. Both meals were very nice, the lady who served us was pleasant and if we stay in Angmering again we'll definitely return.

A Proper Pub! I visited in April 2024 for lunch and a few beers. The pub is a very traditional building with a comfy vibe. Traditional furniture with that time served partina that can not be faked. There's no TVs, no gaming machines and no music. A proper pub that has a relaxing atmosphere and encourages conversation. The landlady, Sam, is a bubbly character who is so welcoming that you soon feel like you've known her for ages. There's a good range of reasonably priced food should you choose to eat as well. I'll be back!

We parked our motorhome up in the carpark and stayed at The Spotted Cow overnight - we had the best time! The staff are all amazing - so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Because they don’t charge for overnight stopovers we also stayed for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious! We both said it was the best pub food we can remember having - and so reasonable too. We will definitely be coming to stay again! X

What a shame! This once delightful pub has gone downhill. Sunday lunch, but where is everybody? No ambience, "tired" surroundings, just a bit sad really. Still the destruction of the beautiful village of Angmering with housing developments at different stages all around should bring trade in the near future as will the Spring/Summer. As for the lunch, the beef was inedible and sent back, the chicken was dry and tasteless but the vegetables were fine. Service was excellent as you'd expect with so few patrons.

Rubbish. Sent me through to the other bar for food, sold me a pint, (not the one I wanted, that was off), only to be told that the kitchen was closed and the chef had gone home due to ‘nobody having been in tonight’. They only serve food from 6-9pm, this was at 7:30. Turned out they did me a favour. I went down to the Stone Room on The Square for a pizza instead. Fabulous.

Dropped in with my wife for lunch as it will be closest pub to properties we are looking at to buy in Angmering. We were met by two very polite young ladies and shown to a table for two. All good so far. My wife ordered the Sussex Smokey and I decided on the Fish Fillet 1/4lb burger with fries. At no time were we informed that there would be a wait of over an hour for the food to arrive. After 20 minutes or so it became clear there was a large party in another area that were clearly priority customers. Anyhow we were not in a rush so patiently waited for the food to arrive. When the food eventually arrived it was well presented and looked appetising. after around a minute of the food arriving the young lady who served us asked if all was OK? To be honest I said yes but at that point I had only consumed a few of the fries and my wife was happy with her Sussex Smokey. It was only a few minutes later when I started to consume the Fish burger that I realised the fish was very undercooked. The centre was cold and impossible to bite through. I left it to the side of the plate and finished off the fries, which were very good. I was hoping the waitress would ask again how things were but unfortunately she was so busy dealing with other customers - not her fault. I didn't want to kick up a fuss as the waitresses were clearly not to blame and were so very busy. I waited until my wife had finished her meal and the waitress came to clear away the plates before I spoke quietly to her explaining it was inedible and why. It was left on the plate clearly showing it was almost raw. She was very apologetic and said how sorry she was. She then asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We replied no thank you and can we have the bill. I'm sorry to say that when the bill arrived there was no discount for my mostly inedible meal. I'm guessing my complaint didn't make it to the management and through inexperienced staff it is assumed just a sorry will do. In hindsight we should have been more forceful in asking for a discount but the young ladies were so busy we didn't want to upset them. The fault clearly lies with the management who should be training their staff on how to deal with these kind of complaints. On a positive note my wife really enjoyed the Sussex Smokey!

I had the fish and chips - on the whole pretty good though the mushy peas were oddly liquid. My wife had the veggie burger but was given sweet potato fries rather than potato chips as advertised. They were soggy and unappetising. Nothing had been said but on questioning this we were told the kitchen had run out of chips. Had this been mentioned at time of or after ordering she would have chosen something different. In the pub’s defence that meal was knocked off the bill and the staff were very apologetic.

My friend and I went for a walk up onto Highdown and decided to stop off at the Spotted Cow for a bit of refreshment.I had the fish finger sandwich and my friend has the Sussex mushrooms. Both were very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beer was good and well kept. The pub is adhering to the COVID rules. The pub is doing well and seemed to be popular.I’d recommend you make a visit

Had a lovely lunch here today. The service was great, very friendly, attentive and professional with a really family ‘feel’ about the place. Social distancing and easy to follow signs are all in place to make sure everyone stays safe too. Lots of seating outside if you’d rather and I love that dogs are welcome too. Very reasonable pricing, particularly with the Government scheme, although it’s still really good value without it. And the food was completely delicious!! Will definitely be back soon.

Had the most amazing lunch today. Fantastic service and the most delicious food. Eat out to help out was an extra bonus but would have been great value for money without 😊

The family decided to have a Sunday lunch at The Spotted Cow in Amering. We was delighted at the service we got and the social distancing. The food was excellent and loved the atmosphere at this very friendly pub.

First family pub meal after lockdown which we were really looking forward to but were slightly apprehensive with all the covid stuff going on. Signs tell you to go into the car park entrance and exit through the front door. There is a lot of outside seating and we felt completely relaxed. They got the balance between safety and enjoying the pub experience just right. Six ales were on. Hophead, Proper Job and Goldmark APA, a hop lovers paradise. All the beers were in excellent condition. Almost every table outside was full but the food still arrived promptly and everything we had was lovely. The chef can do extra vegetarian meals if you ask. It was an absolutely lovely visit. If this is the new norm, then great!

Since The Spotted Cow opened again after lock down I have returned to dine. There is now new chefs and a fantastic new menu. The menu lists yummy good pub grub. My food was absolutely delicious, hot and plated nicely. Definitely return again, and soon! My friends all said they really enjoyed their meal too. Compliments to the chefs please.

We were recommended to approach the Spotted Cow as to being the venue for Golden Wedding celebration meal. We feel they really did us proud catering for our party of 25. The food was excellent and the conservatory was private with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were happy to oblige in anyway. Our opinion JUST GREAT THANK YOU ALL AT THE SPOTTED COW FOR OUR WONDERFUL DAY.

We came on my birthday with my boyfriend after going to the lamb in which was packed, so we went here instead and were so surprised with the lovely service by the man, we weren’t even too hungry but we ordered food and by god it was perfect, honestly one of the nicest places I have been too in a long time. 10/10.

Excellent service delicious food. Great value. We have not been to the lamb for a while. Heard they had a new chef. Lovely starters of garlic prawns & pate. Calves liver cooked to perfection and macaroni cheese

Staying at the Caravan and Motorhome site just a few minutes walk away. We wanted a late lunch but even though it advertises a menu there was no one there to cook food that day. Lots of locals some with very colourful language. There seemed to be lots of clutter around the place. Would we revisit…unfortunately no.

Friendly staff, great breakfast/brunch options, good value. Lovely to be able to get food at a railway station from an independent cafe rather than a big chain :)
