The Lamb Inn in Arun

Popped in for lunch on the way through for our mini break. Food was reasonably priced, well presented and tasty. Suitable for families and couples alike.

I’m not one for writing reviews normally but after the service we received yesterday I felt very strongly I needed to make sure it was noted! I booked an 80th birthday party for my mum only a few weeks ago so not much notice for the lamb however they accommodated a party for 50 people. They could not of made us feel more welcome, nothing I asked for was too much trouble, the food was fantastic with a great variety including a gluten free option for my sister. I want to mention Kayleigh in particular, she was a superstar from the first initial contact via phone right up until we left the party yesterday. I would HIGHLY recommend this wonderful pub for any functions you may have. They truly made it a very easy, flowing party that was enjoyed by all, most importantly my wonderful Mum-the birthday girl. Well done and thank you to all of the Lambs team.x

Fantastic food and were fantastic with my wife as she has a gluten allergy. They catered without any issues. Will be definitely going back before we go home after our holiday. Thank you

4 diners. Two steak pies - overpowered by Kidney. Calves liver - overcooked. Macaroni cheese - fine. 2 americanos - extremely strong. A Jamieson whiskey after a good 20 minute wait as it got forgotten (although not sure that it was actually Jamiesons'). Nice pub but needs to do better please

This is our local pub, tonight, 20.09.24, the food was absolutely disgusting, half cooked rubbery veg that looked and tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for far longer than it should, my daughter and i had chicken snitzel, the chicken was the most rancid piece of tough slimy thigh meat I've ever had the misfortune to put near my mouth, the cheapest cut at a premium price. The only highlight of the evening is that the dog came away well fed, about all the food was fit for. The owners really should be ashamed for serving up food of such low quality. Never again and certainly no recommendations from us, ever.

Just Okay, meals were served a bit slow and nothing stood out as great, only the person who ordered the Steak and Stilton pie was impressed, service all around was slow and only one jug of water for eight people didn't do the job and after 20 minutes of hoping someone would bring another jug we had to go to the bar to get enough water for the table. On the plus side they have one garden area that is adults only (no noisy kids and no pets), another garden area for kids and pets away from the bar and you could also have kids and pets in the bar area while you ate. I would probably look around to size up other places before deciding to eat there again (which I mght end up doing,

Wonderful welcome, very busy Sunday evening but staff were able to seat us even though we hadn’t made a reservation. Host and all staff stayed calm, pleasant and efficient. We had a very good Sunday roast dinner in lovely surroundings. The pub is well maintained with beautiful gardens and stunning floral displays!

We’ve visited here as a family twice this last week, whilst on holiday at the nearby Haven holiday park, once on a Sunday and then we came back during the week as we enjoyed it so much. On the Sunday, the roasts were incredible! Sooo much food and it was absolutely delicious! So much better than we were expecting. The service was also fantastic, I didn’t get the names of the girls who were working then, but they did a great job! On our second visit during the week the food was equally impressive. There were 8 of us (as well as our dogs) and we each ordered something different, everyone loved their meal. The presentation of the food was also 10/10. The portions were extremely generous and it was served very quickly. There was a girl called Kayleigh I think I heard her name was, she was great, very helpful squeezing us in at short notice and really friendly as well. We had a great experience :)

We were staying at haven down the road, the lamb fitted in 9 adults a young child and a baby at very short notice. The man behind the bar was very welcoming as were all the waiting staff. The local customers obviously don’t like holiday makers! Our granddaughter whose 8 months has just found her voice and gets very excited at dinner time, she squeals if she can’t get the food in quickly enough, there was no crying running around or bad manners but yes baby was a bit noisy, the table of cronies next to us threw looks like daggers the whole time and commented that she should be in bed, she is usually in bed by 6.30 but we were on holiday. The food was great, hot, plenty of it and tasty. We all ate everything 😀. We would like to say a big thank you to the staff for making us feel very welcome and apologised for the behaviour of the ‘older, customers, bearing in mind it was only 7pm. We will be back

We always go to the Lamb inn for dinner when we go to my daughters caravan at the bottom of the road Excellent and imaginative food - good service - plenty of car parking space - overall a very pleasant experience. Two small problems that management should address a) at busy times they need more staff in the kitchen - waiting times for food can get over excessive and b) my pet hate with this pub, if you are in the dog area they will service your food at the table, but you have to go and order your own drinks from the bar, - no problems - however the bar area has chairs and it is always full of the "old soaks" making virtually a solid wall. Last time we went - i ask a rather loud lady to move slight so i could pick up my drinks - and we almost ended in full scale fight - other then that a really good evening

I have known this pub for far to many years, always full of local charm and warm fuzzy coziness! Brilliant bar staff and what a huge difference on the menu! Vegetarian pie and mash was absolutely delicious! First class! Thank you !

I often come here but don’t always eat. 4 of had a lovely meal this evening, we are loving the new Chef!! Liver and bacon was gorgeous, others had pie, ham and chips and Smoked haddock! A table full of empty plates. Highly recommend! Not forgetting shout out to Neil (best Barman in Pagham)

Avoid! Been on two separate occasions, first time was towards the end of the summer 2023 where we ended up being sat near the landlord/owner of the pub who is awful! Made rude comments about our child and when picked up my her grandmother so we could stay for a few drinks made a joke about us getting ‘rid’ of our child, we may have found this funny if the owner hadn’t been acting so grotesque beforehand. The more he drank the worse he got and became very inappropriate towards myself ending in my partner having to ask him if he thought his behaviour was acceptable, we left saying we wouldn’t return. Fast forward to this last month we thought we’ll give it one more go as the reviews online looked so much better and it’s local and we THOUGHT maybe family friendly. Food was awful, atmosphere is nothing, service was okay at best, food having to be sent back, ordered drinks on arrival and my wine came out just before the food , food was admitted by the chef and waitress it was bad and taken off the menu. Don’t waste your time. More of a local place for people the landlord knows to go and get drunk. If you want a nice evening, don’t bother!

Fantastic!… Wonderful welcome from Neil behind the bar and great service from Issy & Kai . Delicious Sunday roast. Highly recommend if you’re visiting the area. My friend visited the pub last week and saw there were mussels on the menu so she booked a table for us, when we arrived today 13/01 I noticed the mussels were in a cider sauce, I can not have this so I asked the waitress whether the chef could offer something different, although quite busy she came back and said the chef would do it in a white wine and garlic sauce and it was delicious with big chips and a generous portion of bread, everything was perfect I cannot recommend this pub enough.

Fantastic pub, all the staff were very helpful as we had a gluten free intolerance eating with us, plus they all were very welcoming and friendly, Lunch was absolutely amazing and their chips are out of this world, can't wait to go back next time we visit.

We had a delicious meal last night, we had the ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection, hot, nicely seasoned and well presented. I had the haddock with hollandaise sauce poached egg mashed potato and wilted spinach it was lovely. Afterwards we had a cheeseboard and sticky toffee pudding. We visited The Lamb on Monday Nov 13th , a party of 10 family. We were very disappointed with the food. Nearly all of our party were. A couple of us had the Lamb Hotpot and it was definitely not a hotpot, more like a lamb stew. It came with crusty bread and nothing else - no red cabbage,, which is always served with a traditional hotpot. It was also vey strong, as if it had gravy granules added to the sauce. You could not taste Lamb at all. As most of our party come from Lancashire, to say we were disappointed is an understatement. Other meals were also below par and the Steak & Kidney pie was burnt. After reading other reviews which are excellent, we can only presume the regular Chef was having a night off, perhaps. I have to say, the waitress, who comes from Wigan was lovely and so efficient. After eating at the Lamb, many times over the years, this was the worst meal we have ever had.

Avoid this pub if you have children!! Donald the Landlord approached us as soon as we step foot in the pub with our boys and asked if we had reserved a table. We said no and explained that we were just looking to order drinks and we’re happy standing at the bar. He walked off unhappy with our answer it would seem and retuned less than 2 minutes later (whilst we were ordering our drinks) and asked if we had found a table, we told him no and he told us to find a table first before ordering?!!!!! What type of landlord would say that to any customer?! Completely arrogant and rude!!! We have spent hundreds of pounds in this pub previously but since Dan (the manager) left, it’s lost any appeal and we will not be returning to this pub again. We would advise any family and friends to steer clear too, extremely disappointing.

Had a supurb roast lunch the veg was so fresh and cooked perfectly. I had lamb and my husband had beef. The Yorkshire puds were delicious. We bring my 10 year old gluten gluten intolerant neice for a treat and they always supply a lovely meal for her. 2 weeks ago had Gubbins for lunch a real lovely mix of baked camambert, prawn cocktail with a lovely selection of other items. It's always a treat to find out what will come out as its different each time.

Greeted by Naomi. We ordered steak & kidney pie, mash & veg & ham, egg & chips. The meals arrived quickly, plates were hot, pie was full, mash was fresh as were veg, the ham was butchers ham, 2 fried eggs & really proper homemade chips, with a great salad that had an addition of melon, sliced orange & pomegranate. We followed with a shared Eton Mess & 2 spoons. We were not disappointed. Great chef. The bill was £38, the BEST meal we’ve had in the area. Would definitely return again next time we are in Sussex. WE had a late lunch at The Lamb on Saturday and were very pleased with our meals and at a very reasonable price. We will eat there again when visiting our Family.

The main thing was gluten free options. My gluten free meal was worst I have ever had. It was replaced with ham egg chips. They forgot i was gf my ice cream came up with biscuit in it. Will not return. Very disappointed.

Staying nearby for four nights and came upon The Lamb on our first night. Only wanted a drink as we had already eaten, but bar staff very friendly and it's a beautiful building. Popped in again the following night for a drink and, having looked at their menu, booked a table for the next evening. It was so good, ended up going back there for our final evening meal. We didn't book for the last evening, but staff were so helpful accommodating us, especially as they had a very big group booking. All the meals we had were delicious and the pub is absolutely lovely, as are all the staff there. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending The Lamb. Oh, and they keep their real ales beautifully, too!

We were staying in Pagham for several nights and liked the look of the Lamb Inn. We actually ate here twice and had a fantastic evening on both occasions. The food was delicious and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The whitebait was cooked beautifully and the Fisherman’s Pie was to die for. All washed down with a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Just perfect. Thank you everyone x

A friend took me on a weekday, although a Friday lunch and thankfully plenty of room and no waiting as we arrived early during service. (It got busier as the time went on.. but we were still seen to as quickly as the staff could manage.) We had not pre booked, but were welcomed. I usually measure how good a place is by the quality of its burgers, as this is always my go to meal as a treat when eating out.. Although the burger in question (see photo) was good beef, it was somehow too ground up and not very tasty. Also I asked for it to be cooked med at most, but I prefer rare.. But it arrived med to well done, so not good either. Thankfully I had ordered the extra topping of pulled beef, which was divine! I could have eaten a whole plateful! The meals are basic, standard pub grub.. and priced as such.. But at the upper end, I.e £12-15 for a main meal. (Sadly gone are the days of cheap food.) There was a bit of a wait for our drinks when we arrived, even though the place was not busy, as the landlady/owner was distracted and deposited someone’s drink all over the counter… We tried to laugh about it, but I should have just gone and sat down and had our drinks brought to us. (She did offer to put it on our meal tab but I was paying for drinks and companion paying for main meal.) An Ok meal, but not exceptional for a birthday treat. But it is what it is for the price. (My friend had suggested the Inglenook nearby, but I don’t do ‘posh’ or expensive!) Free parking outside and another car park for local businesses a short walk away. The staff are pleasant and attentive. 7.5/10

Was lucky enough to get a table last minute and had a drink while we waited ordered our food and must say waited a long time 45 minutes for starters to arrive , the staff were apologetic and when it did arrive it was really nice very large gubbins board and prawn cocktails, mains of mussels,jumbelia were a good portion and tasty, staff worked well to make up for the time it took , hence 4 rating it would have been 5 apart for long wait

We’ve eaten at The Lamb a few times when we come to Pagham for a break. Not sure what has changed but this time it was not nice. The menu choice is good but every dish we had was bland and did the seafood wasn’t fresh. The scallops had a strange taste and overpowered with lemon. I had the lamb rump which was nice but the vegetables only arrived after I was half way through my meal. My wife had the plaice and the colour and texture were not right. The fish was not fresh and it had a smell to it. She left most of it and ate the chips and veg which were lovely. Someone else had the beef dish which again was flavourless and bland. For a £30 steak you expect more taste and seasoning and again just no flavour. The service was good, apart from the veg arriving late. All in all it was not a great start to our weekend as it left a bitter taste in our mouths and we had to buy some mints. Don’t think we will be eating here again.

Went out for what was going to be a quick meal at The Lamb. Booked early as we fid not want to be caught in the 7.40/8.00 rush. Bar service fine. Shown to the table to be presented with some menus that had seen better days and directed to the ‘specials’ board. We went straight to mains and hoped to have a dessert. All the food came out eventually and was judged by all to be OK. Some courses better than others. My Fish and Chips the fish was over cooked but passable. Took an age to clear the table. Promised a dessert menu never came so paid and left! Not a great experience and not sure I would rush back

Not a friendly atmosphere, dad got corrected at bar for mispronouncing Amstel. Kids not allowed in the garden even though there was no signs and a baby was out there, generally not welcoming

Easter Sunday family lunch at this lovely pub. 3 courses on offer for £28. All the food was amazing, the roast beef was stunning and the Eton mess delicious. The service was excellent and friend too. Highly recommended..
