Seasons in Eastbourne

Not sure what some of these bad reviewers are on. I've been going in this place for many years with my daughter and mother on weekends for breakfast and they have always been polite, professional and friendly. Their coffee is the best in the harbour too.

What started out as an excellent bar/cafe/restaurant has deteriorated beyond Recognition, grubby, broken chairs, dirty floors, toilets absolutely appalling. £53 for 3 rolls two bowls of chips, which were inedible, we did complain but to No avail and 4 coffees. There are several restaurants/coffee shops at the harbour, pick any one but not this one.

Quality has declined badly over past 18 month - Brought wrong breakfast order - it was returned then reheated and brought back with over cooked additions. it was disgusting. To serve that was a disgrace and inexcusable I will point out some of the serving staff are very very good (Some not all)

Popped in this morning and had the most amazing smoked salmon and perfectly cooked poached eggs for breakfast. Really nice coffee and served by a lovely couple of waitresses who were both very polite and friendly. Looking forward to returning again soon. This time with the family.

Rude and bad service Usual miserable service from the owner, signs are all wrong regarding serving times - lovely sunny day and they are closed at 4pm - sign says 5pm!! They obviously don’t need the trade but it gives a bad impression

Stopped for breakfast. Lovely bacon and eggs rolls. Great coffee. TBH they could have given a friendlier service esp the older chap. A hello and a smile wouldn’t have gone amiss . Good breakfast tho

We went for a girls lunch and we had a wonderful time, tasty food, reasonably priced wine and delicious coffees (and cake) afterwards. Thank you also to the super friendly and professional staff. Thoroughly recommend!

Didn't realise my mistake until I was sat inside waiting for my drink.Shabby, run down, untidy. Owner (presumably) leaning on till constantly yawning. Got up and moved a few cakes around in the display cabinet then promptly licked his fingers. Scruffy green wheelie next to door inside establishment! Worn out threadbare door mat and dirty tables. Outside - shabby and uncared for. Scrappy faded weather worn menu in plastic frame on exterior wall. Other evidence of neglect outside. Thankful I only had a drink in there. Such a waste of an ideally located business. First and last visit.

Me and my husband visited this little gem last saturday for a lovely lunch, I had a chicken caesar salad which was delicious and my husband had a tasty beef pie! It was to die for and the service was fantastic, we were served by the lovely gentleman Ollie he was very attentive and friendly and met our needs fully! We recommend!

On a wet and windy Monday a party of six Ladies booked for lunch. Having read some reviews I was concerned but need not have worried. From the first welcome to the service at the table all staff were polite, warm and friendly. The food was very good with fresh vegetables and good portions. We didn't feel rushed and were very well looked after during our long lunch. We are hoping to arrange another visit soon.

Excellent roast pork lunch today. Plenty of fresh vegetables roast potatoes and a large Yorkshire puddings. All the staff very friendly and professional. Great place.

Saw so many bad reviews on the place but thought I’d still give it a try… it’s a cosy restaurant with great service and amazing food! Definitely will be returning ☺️

As my friend has rheumatoid arthritis she requested more comfortable seating with arms. When I asked the owner he looked away and just said 'No!' Then as an afterthought 'sorry'. No explanation given, and when eventually 2 people were seated there, who didn't seem to particularly need such seating, we felt like 2nd class less important customers. I don't know why on earth he's running a bar/restaurant, he's totally unsuitable to do this and highly off-putting. I live nearby but I won't go again, at least not until he's gone.

My wife and I went for lunch last Wednesday. We were offered the day’s “Special” (chilli con carne with white rice) which I decided to order. What a mistake; the following night I spent my time in the bathroom with food poisoning which has continued and is now in its 4th day. The dining area is grubby and the tables not exactly clean. The only thing 4 Seasons has going for it is its location in the delightful harbour. Needless to say, we shall not be going there again.

Working in customer service my self I tend to notice when things are done well, and equally when they are not! Bill was presented ( plonked on the table ) when I had not even finished my coffee. £3.15 for a black coffee .. at least let me drink it.. I had also had a ( just under £5 ) smoothie too.. While my friend settled the bill, the very rude owner, nearly shouted at her because she requested that my drinks were put on my bank card. Then huffed and puffed about it. Given the chance we would have asked for separate bills. Then the owner told new customers; very loudly, that we would be leaving soon! Hang on .. maybe we wanted something else. Is it not polite to ask? I didn’t finish my coffee. This isn’t the first time that I have experienced and seen / heard this type of rudeness from this man. Having a choice of cafes and restaurants within Sovereign Harbour. I will not be returning here.

I have always loved this place and the food/ coffee. I know the owner has a bit of a bad reputation but we witnessed his rudeness today. We had been there just about an hour, had a smoothie and coffee. We were just nattering, my friend hadn't finished her coffee yet as she'd had a smoothie earlier. Anyhow, he just appeared with a bill for us! We hadn't asked for it. He also put one on the table next to us. They looked bewildered to! I presume as a massive hint to leave! We were thinking of leaving soon anyway so I got up and went to the till with my card and my friends card and showed him the 2 cards, he still said £10.95?! in a shouty way and I said yes but I want to pay for the cappucino on my card and my friends drinks on hers! He was not impressed and huffed and then split the bill. He seemed very put out but we did NOT ask for the bill or for our drinks to be on the same bill! If he wants to continue owning it, I suggest he takes a step back from running it as he's putting customers off!

This place used to be lovely and one of our favourite places for breakfast or lunch. Unfortunately we have visited for the last time and would rather go elsewhere. The owner is rude and completely disinterested in either the paying customers or the place itself which is dirty, rundown and in need of a good refurbishment. He fails to make eye contact, barks at you if you dare to set more than 2 foot inside the door and generally gives the impression that customers are an inconvenience. He has ruined this place and I feel for the staff working there who are actually lovely and trying their best with lack of cups, cutlery, any help from the owner and run down and shabby decor. Unfortunately because of its location, Seasons is always busy and is the first impression some visitors will get of the harbour which is a shame as things greatly improve around the corner. Please please someone else take over and give this place a lick of paint, new furniture and a decent warm welcome to the customers spending their hard earned money and paying your wages. We won’t be back until that happens.

So many reviews state rude old chap.....yep totally agree. OMG if he is staff fire him and if he is the owner go get a new job as your ungrateful for the custom you get

Stopped by with friends visiting from abroad around 3.20pm on a Thursday, for coffee and cake. There were quite a few people seated inside. i had my little dog with me and opened the door, standing outside, to enquire if he was permitted inside. Some female rushed over and said we don't allow animals in here and anyway were closing now, and practically shut the door in my face. My friends couldn't believe the rudeness. I won't be going back.

The decor is tired and in need of redecoration and cleaning (there were exposed electrical wires next to our table) The staff are friendly and efficient with the exception of one, an older man clearly the owner or manager, who is rude. He treats customers with contempt like they are a nuisance and is clearly in the wrong line of work. Coffee and cake were very nice but won’t be returning in a hurry. We have lived in this area for about 5 years and have eaten here several times. This older man is always the same and spoils the experience.

Well have lived in Eastbourne years...the cafe we normally go to de leitos in the harbour was closed.. so thought we'd go to 4 seasons...last time we went we found the staff rude.. and this time we realised why we hadn't gone back... we walked in saw a spare seat and went to sit down...a miserable looking old chap..abruptly asked us what we were doing...and noted rudely that we should have waited to be seated and that we should have seen the sign...we just walked out...so so rude and we would have spent a lot of money...don't go here..shocking customer service .

My wife and I have had coffee there perhaps 3 or 4 times a week and occasionally something to eat. The staff have all been very friendly with the exception of, I assume, the owner who has always given the impression of misery, but, today, however, he took it to an entirely new level. We arrived at 2.55 and wished to sit in the more comfortable seating as my wife suffers from a bad back. Despite the fact that many tables were free, we were brusquely told we couldn’t as they were for lunches and when asked why as many tables were available, we were told “take it or leave it” and he simply walked off, by which time it was 3.00 Never had such an experience before, ever, anywhere!

Poor quality food Given incorrect dietary advice( dangerous) & when this was discreetly pointed out were told by very rude manager not to bother coming again ! Advice we are very happy to take.

This place needs a complete revamp. The decor is so outdated. The toilets are poor. I always think if the toilets in a restaurant are in bad shape it’s not a good indicator of general cleanliness in the establishment . The floor in the restaurant needed sweeping. The owner is very miserable. He needs to cheer up a bit if he’s in a business dealing with the public.

We asked the abrupt waiter if he could bring the drinks out with the food, this obviously proved a bit difficult for him, as he told us he could not guarantee this would happen, which it didn't, we had Asked for a tea but got a cappuccino instead, waited 30 minutes for food to arrive which is fair enough, but when it did arrive both main courses were cold, do your yourself a favour don't bother.

The title says it all really. I reviewed this place last March before lockdown, it was terrible then but decided to give it another go today as maybe things have improved. I was wrong. First of all the staff are so rude it’s honestly shocking. The male waiter just plonker our menus down in front of us with no smile or anything, surely a smile and a hello is rule number one? Secondly the place is absolutely disgusting. You would think with covid that they might have bucked their ideas up but it’s vile. Then we come to the food, the vegetable quiche, which only had courgette inside was so bad I don’t even think a dog would eat it. The pastry was raw on the bottom and basically just like slop on a plate. Such a shame as this place used to be so good a couple of years ago, but never ever again. Please don’t waste your money here.

Met a friend and we ordered our drinks at a table for 2. We were given the bill without asking or being asked if we wanted anything else. We ordered more drinks. We were then asked to leave by the same older man who worked there and gave us our first bill as he said people were waiting for a table to order lunch. We weren't asked if we were planning on staying for lunch and other tables were free inside and outside. There was no minimum spend or maximum time given during this or any previous visit as it was our 'go to' meeting place over the years. Tables for 6 people were occupied by 2 and no other customers to our knowledge had been asked to leave (we were the only female only ones having drinks we could see). On our way out there was no queue of people inside or outside. Staff apologised for the way we were treated. We won't go back as plenty of other places to eat and drink on the Harbour and better customer service.

I have eaten here a lot over the years and this is the second time now that I have had a bad experience. We ordered the breakfast bap and tea. The tea came out in a dirty looking pot and for nearly £3 the teapot wasn’t even full. The sausages in the breakfast bap were inedible and really cheap quality the bacon had more fat than meat. This place used to serve good ingredients but I’m guessing now it is more interested in profits. I now restrictions are being lifted but in the whole time we were there not one table was cleaned between customers.

We have had breakfast here twice now and cannot recommend it highly enough. The coffee is excellent and the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs is great value and very tasty. Staff are very helpful and service good.

Waited one hour after ordering, we asked three times where our food was no one seemed to be bothered. When it came it was Luke warm and over cooked, no frazzled, I complained and got offered a piece of cake and a drink. No reduction in money. I took the remains of my food to show the manager and was greeted by a very ignorant man who said “what’s he moaning about” only to be informed he was the owner!! That says it all. Never again,

This morning 28th June 2021 I joined two friends and had a tea before checking the price. It cost £2,95 for what was a not specialist or decent make ONE tea bag floating in a pot that could do four cups of tea not one. I went and asked for another tea bag as it was like dishwater.When I paid the price £2.95 shocked me as two local - like next door charge £1.85 or £2.00 for tea. Also the manager knew I had a tea and I was commenting whilst paying by card then noticed he had charge me £8.15 which covered the other two friends bill. They had already paid. When I drew this to his attention he could not give me a rebate via my card but cash. The attitude of this manager was pretty arrogant and could not care a less - we charge the same for tea as coffee - why?I go to the Eastbourne Harbour area around three times a week and never will I step foot inside Seasons again. I intend to let others know as well.

Friendly staff nothing too much trouble, food lovely, very tasty. Next to the harbour watch the world go by and relax Very dog friendly more than happy to get fresh water for the dog’s. Will be visiting again in August for breakfast/lunch

We ordered prawn, salmon and Avocado salad, it was tasty dish but the avocado was rotten and not edible. We showed to the waiter and he said sorry about it.Also his behaviour was not so great as he kind of snatched the menu card from us while we were still reading it, apparently he was in a rush as he had to serve lot of people as it being a busy day.

My wife and I were at Sovereign Harbour and decided to have lunch here. In the past (pre covid) we have had had good food and excellent service here. This time we were very disappointed. My wife had a crab and prawn baked potato and I had a smoked mackerel and horseradish baked potato. These were served with a mixed salad and coleslaw. The baked potatoes were terrible. The skins were rock hard and impossible to cut with a knife. The potato was extremely dry and tasteless (could have done with some butter). The smoked mackerel was dry and only just edible. Two people were involved in serving us the pot of tea and the meals. The waitress was the only plus in this visit. She was polite and cheerful. The man who brought the meals to our table was miserable and looked like he wished he was somewhere else.

We used to vist here quite regularly a few years back and it was always really good. Slowly it went downhill and we had a couple of not very good meals and so stopped coming. Today we just thought we'd pop in for a coffee and scone and see how it was now in prep for the summer when we have visitors staying to potentially bring them here for a meal. The scones said it all, the smallest scone I think I have seen and £2.95!. It was warmed without us asking for it to be and was just chewy and not enjoyable.

Substandard food and service, it’s as disappointing as it can get. You’ll find it hard to find anybody in the establishment that cares

This is NOT a restaurant, nor a cafe. They turn out sub standard food with sub standard service whilst charging premium prices. Possibly the worst dining experience I've ever had. I feel that this particular restaurant is extremely damaging for the waterfront at the marina, I have no doubt that there are some quality eateries within the vicinity but I certainly won't be visiting eastbourne sovereign harbour again. I'll spend my hard earned money elsewhere ty.

We decided to come here for lunch today, but after this visit, we most certainly won't be coming here ever again!!! We were led to a table that wasn't cleaned after the previous customers, after we were sat down they still had no intention of cleaning it, not even a quick wipe over, absolutely appalling! We ordered a Seabass and a Cod & Chips, a green tea and a cup of just hot water. The wait for the food was pretty average, not too long but when the food came out, the seabass dish was quite disappointing, the veg on the plate was pretty much past its shelf life and shouldn't have been served at all, (even the waiter agreed it was pretty rotten when he came to take the plates away) especially when you're paying £14.95 for it, the fish wasn't fresh either! The chips I had with my cod and chips looked recycled, obviously recooked several times, the peas were undercooked, still semi-hard! When I asked for the bill, I couldn't believe I was charged for a cup of hot water, WTF!!! The waiter's answer was "We have to charge for the hot water because it comes out of the coffee machine" What sort of nonsense is that? You might as well start charging people per drop of water that comes out of your extra special coffee machine. All in all, a pretty bad experience!

We had the big breakfast bun and drinks in the outside area. The staff were great and the food very good.

I thought this place would be a lot better than I anticipated, service was slow. The food we had wasn’t pleasant I ended up leaving half the crab linguine it was strong tasting & very bland. £35 for 2 basic meals, 1 starter, 2 smoothies. Waiter was very stonewalling did not feel a warm welcoming vibe about him. Will not be returning. Which is a shame as I love being down at the harbour.
