I used to frequent this pub in the seventies whilst a student and this was my first visit in almost forty years. Amazingly, it still had the same cool vibe and we easily settled into the comfortable seating around the table I’d reserved the day before. The menu was good, the food was excellent, as were the warm, welcoming staff who looked after us. We had such a lovely, relaxing meal and were reluctant to leave. We will be back very soon.

Another great lunch in this historic 12th century inn. My friends had come down from Bedfordshire and were staying in nearby Brighton. The number 12 bus stopped just 60 metres from the Lamb Inn. My wife and I shared a ploughmans while my guests had the Steak Pie (plus drink) and a ham ploughmans lunch. Drinks were simply Harveys best bitter, English breakfast tea, sparkling water and two americano coffees. Its a great atmosphere and this is my favourite pub for both drinks and dining in Eastbourne. Fully recommend this delightful pub.

Great atmosphere as usual but we didn't enjoy the food. My daughter ordered sausage and mash, it looked like the gravy was hiding dry yesterday sausages, and my daughter could only eat the vegetables. My fish was not as fresh as usual (I couldn't eat it all) but my wife's salad was OK. It will be a long time before I go back there again.

When in Eastbourne, don't miss The Lamb, a historic pub known for its traditional charm and original features like exposed wooden beams and fireplaces. Established in 1180, it's beloved by locals and visitors alike for its authentic atmosphere and selection of local and classic beers paired with traditional British dishes. We saved our final day of our exchange program to experience The Lamb, making it the perfect conclusion to our trip. Whether for a taste of local history or a relaxing evening with great company, The Lamb offers an unforgettable pub experience in Eastbourne.

An impromptu visit early evening midweek resulted in a lovely evening. There were four of us dining and we all chose from the specials menu, all meals were presented well and very tasty. The menu selection is limited and the specials board offers other choices so there is likely to be something to suit everyone. The staff looking after us were very welcoming and offered very good customer service. We shall re-visit if we are in the area again.

For prices charge for a very basic pub lunch - ham, egg and chips expected far better than delivered. Small portion of chips with paper thin reformed ham was very disappointing. Others in group had slice of steak pie, although decent hardly justified £17.00. Policy of adding 'discretionary' 10% service charge added insult to injury. Lovely, traditional surroundings with pleasant atmosphere shouldn't excuse overcharging for a very disappointing offering. Second time there in recent weeks for a lunch, return not my choice but due to others in group who vote on the decent beer not the food. Not sure if this is an indication of Harvey's brewery pub group policy or just experience here at their flagship pub.

Very enjoyable meal this evening at The Lamb with friends. We had all chosen two courses each for £30 from the Christmas menu as we knew how substantial the portions are and could not have fitted in three courses! 😄 Five of us had a traditional turkey dinner, one had sea bass and one had beef all with lots of veg and all the trimmings. We then moved on to the desserts of Christmas pudding, Chocolate/orange torte and Key lime pie - not all at once but that would have been really yummy if we had! Staff were as brilliant as ever! We would all highly recommend their Christmas menu! 😊

Sunday lunch is excellent. Second time I've been in three weeks. We had a late lunch at 2.30 and it was wonderful, not empty but not crowded. Warm and cosy inside like a good pub should be. Choices of roast at that late time were beef or turkey breast. We both had beef. Superb a touch of pink just how I like it. Roast potatoes nice and crispy, gravy strong and thick, great selection of veg - red cabbage, mashed swede or carrot, cauliflower cheese, and I think sprouts. This time I finished all my crisp yorkshire pud. Huge plate, filled me up for the entire day. The food arrived at hot enough eating temperature and the service was friendly and efficient. We plumped for a shared stick toffee pudding with ice cream. I enjoyed a half pint of Harveys best (forgotten how delicious their bitters are) and my friend had a coffee. £60 including service.

Its a very atmospheric pub and with a glowing fire plus the nearby radiator full on very cosy. I chose to have a flight of 3 Harvey beers Best, Armada and Old ale while my friend went for the Armada and my wife the Pinot Grigio white wine. We ordered at 6 pm and by then there were 8 or 9 diners. I had another beer with my Lamb Burger very tasty although the bun was dry, my wife had bangers and mash and my friend the calves liver, The whole meal plus a small tip was £60 or just £20 each. Excellent value and also excellent service. This is my favourite pub in Eastbourne.

Food good, shocking service. I’ve been spending a fair amount of time and therefore money at the Lamb lately, mostly been fine until I took my son there for dinner, table booked for 7:30pm, food was good as always, experience was good until I respectfully requested on the the final course of 3, a glass of white wine for my son, I requested this stating that he is 17 (a few days off 18) knowing the licensing laws in England and Wales. The waitress immediately became combative stating he’s ‘only allowed one’- this didn’t need to be said. When she came back to give us our third course she loudly stated ‘I’m not having an under 18 in the bar after 9pm but I’ll cut you some slack just this once’. It was only half past 8 at this time. We left at 8:52, well before 9pm. In the process of the waitress berating us the entire restaurant became aware and due to the commotion, this became evident due to the fact people were staring at us, it was somewhat embarrassing and uncomfortable. At no point did we become argumentative or challenge the waitresses statements. This evening of celebrating my sons recent hard work fell flat on its face. Last time I spend £107 on a meal for 2 at the Lamb.

In the snow yesterday, myself and my daughter took refuge for a couple of hours. Not only were other people in the bar helpful and friendly, Natalie - the manager - was unbelievably kind and compassionate. She held a room for us - and said it would only cost the cleaning fee - should we decide we needed one if stuck overnight, helped out with my daughter's dietary requirements, and even when we decided to risk the trip home to Brighton (we made it) having only bought a cup of tea, she gave us some blankets "just in case". I will be coming back to eat, with blankets, but mainly to eat. People make pubs; not bricks and mortar.

We only stayed two nights in Eastbourne but we visited this pub both days. Our hotel was on the seafront so we needed to walk half a mile to the train station and then get a bus to the old town. The pub is over 900 years old and it retains a real feeling of that antiquity. It is a really cosy place to enjoy some splendid examples of traditional Sussex ale. The handpulled Harvey's beers were in absolute top notch condition. We can't comment on the food as we didn't partake, but we can say that the pub and the staff were very welcoming.

Starters were almost a meal on a smaller plate. Whitebait very good, maybe local caught, which makes 'em tastier. Very generous servings of main courses, but we gave a good account of ourselves.

Nice pub with a good interior, staff are friendly but do seem to spend a large part of their job by chatting away, the food was tasty and came out quickly and the Harvey’s is one of the best in Eastbourne!

We have been going to The Lamb for over 40 years and as a drinking pub it serves some of the best Harveys in the area. The food has been good in the past but our recent visit left us very disappointed. 2 of us ordered the special of the day which was grilled plaice with sauteed fennel. The fish was dry, tasteless and basically terrible, like it had been stored in a freezer for too long. The fennel although tasty, amounted to less than a teaspoonful. The waiter came and asked if everything was alright and then bolted as we started to tell him it was not. We called him back and he said he would tell the chef. He brought us dessert menus and we waited for him to return in vain. We eventually went to the bar to order and he cheerfully told us he had forgotten all about us. The people at the next door table were also 'forgotten' and had to go to the bar to order their main course. The pub was half empty and the staff seemed more interested in hanging around the bar chatting. When we went to pay we were told that the chef said 'sorry'. No real apology or offer of a refund. While we are happy to return for a drink, we are unlikely to eat here again, as there are much better places to go in town. Sorry Lamb, but you need to decide if it want to remain a decent pub for drinkers or attempt to entice visitors for a meal. If the latter you need to improve significantly and train your staff on how to do the job properly.

Lovely food and really great for kids! They were super friendly and my boys love playing with all the toys before their dinner. Thanks a lot!

We’d been before and had a nice experience, but this time it was just awful. It was very busy so we expected to have to wait a little longer than normal, but clearly the staff were just overwhelmed by how busy it was. The large table in the window was free so we sat there. Only trouble was it was piled high with plates, cups, and left-over food from previous customers. On ordering at the counter we asked for it to be cleared when they had a moment. It became obvious that moment would never come so eventually we cleared it ourselves and dumped it all on another table. We asked for the still dirty table to be wiped but that wasn’t going to happen so we asked for a cloth and did it ourselves. We patiently waited, and waited and waited some more for our food to arrive. At some point we were informed that some of what we ordered was no longer available so we revised the order to something much simpler, and waited. Still nothing. In the meantime lots of takeaway customers arrived and left with their food. We waited some more. Some people at a nearby table seemed to be having a similar experience and actually gave up and got their money back. We enquired about our order more than once by the way. Eventually we got exasperated and told the staff that if they hadn’t yet started our order that we’d just get a refund and leave, only to have the member of staff doing the cooking shout at us “ don’t you want it now?” And then something about it not being her fault because the counter staff had done something wrong with the order tickets. Finally we got some food. Not what we had ordered originally but fine. It’s close to where we live, but we won’t be back. I don’t wish the place any ill will, but there are so many other places in Eastbourne, just as good, which can cope with being busy ( a sunny Sunday afternoon in August, who’d have thought ) to have to put up with this.

Upstairs in C@H. I had a lovely slice of coffee cake and a pot of tea. Perfect for a quick pitstop. Very reasonable price. Friendly service, background music catering for trad style tearooms, but not too intrusive. Tables clean. Not at all hurried.

Bad experience !! they didn't check allergies , no tap water offered I had ordered a bottle of sparkling water when it eventually came ( service was painfully slow and it was really quiet at the time , heaven knows how they cope when busy ) it was warm , they said they didn't have storage to chill the bottles of sparkling water I could put it in a glass full of ice or they would put it in the freezer , I had waited long enough and declined both , yet they charged me for it , I didn't notice until the card clicked that it had gone through , I then waited another 10 minutes to tell me they couldn't give me a refund at the moment as they couldn't contact head office ??? they took my number , but of course nobody has rung me , maybe if they ever bother to they could refund the service charge at the sometime as it was appalling . Food was ok
