Amazing pub, really friendly staff anlway smiling and I can say they look happy to work there. The food was really tasty. my family annd I even met the kitchen manager Julian what lovely chap so we congratulated him for the amazing tasty food and not forgetting the music was top. We will be back . Gustavo

Very strange occurrence at our once local pub, me and my brother had just came from the beach to use the toilet and get a drink, when we came out of the toilet we were told we weren’t being served anymore drinks (we hadn’t even had any?) and that they did not need to provide us a reason why, I asked around until I found who I assume to be a supervisor and he gave me the reason - we were selling drugs in the toilet ? Two other friends arrived later on who were due to meet us and were greeted with “ you won’t find what you’re after here and you’re no longer welcome here “ I understand that there’s a right to refusal but to straight up accuse people who regularly visit your pub of something that they didn’t do then proceed to bar two people who weren’t even at the pub because they know us doesn’t seem right ?

I was there today with a friend for breakfast, the premises has improved a lot since my last visit. The ladies who served us were very helpful , smiling and cheerful .🤗😇 Very good food at good prices and delicious coffee !🍽☕️ We will certainly return here again🥳

As always when on holiday in Eastbourne it's one place I always call into, the food and drinks on offer is always 1st class and the service is excellent.

Wanted a place to eat during the air show and to watch the football. Lots of Big TVs and seating. Food much better than expected. We will return when in the area. The pub was busy and the service really good.

4 of us went in for some food and watch the football. 1 had fish n chips while the others picked 3 dishes each from the Mix n Match , all food was hot n tasty, staff were very visible clearing and cleaning tables which is nice to see.

Popped in after a nightmare journey and dreadful experience trying to park in Eastbourne. This town really doesn’t want or welcome visitors. Happy to say the staff here were friendly, the place was clean, and there were lots of tables available (despite the air show being on). Hubby had chicken pieces, I had prawns and we shared the chips from the starter menu. Portions were perfect size, obviously the chicken, prawns and chips were frozen from a wholesaler, but still tasted ok. The chips were really delicious, loved the cheese sauce and onion bits, the Guinness sauce was awesome (would love the recipe). We would definitely pop in again for a light lunch. Food was 4*, drinks were 2*, so average 3* for the review. Don’t expect the WiFi to work though, unfortunately table ordering isn’t available, despite the table display saying otherwise. The ladies loo is easy to get to, clean as well. £6.10 for a pint of beer, £7+ for a glass of wine, unfortunately drinks are definitely on the expensive side, best to stick to soft drinks.

Sat outside on a hot day people watching! Clean toilets. Lots of people eating.

Was very nice breakfast and good cost value for money. Will definitely come again at another date to have breakfast again.

Found here on trip advisor and decided to book due to previous reviews as we were on a flying visit to Eastbourne. Service was quick, nice atmosphere and food was delicious. Just what we needed after a long day. Atmosphere was good. Not too overcrowded for a Saturday night and would come back again if I am in the area.

One of my regular haunts on a day off , always a friendly welcome from Monica, Kate, Caroline and the boys . They serve breakfast from 10 until 12 then the full menu comes on... great selection of drinks too.as if that's not enough they have a big screen and smaller TVs dotted around to show all the sport , child and dog friendly as well

The Duke of Devonshire is the best pub in town, fantastic staff and management, great value for money food and drinks, clean and tidy pub, great for watching live sports AND dog friendly, get yourself down there, it’s absolutely GREAT

Visited this pub on recommendation and decided to try the breakfast,it was amazing and great value for money ,best breakfast we have tried so far on our visit . The 2 ladies behind the bar were an absolute delight and nothing was to much for them ,well done Duke of Devonshire ,keep up the good work

My old mate "Boss Mann Fritz" invited me to the Duke for a swift pint. What an experience! Very amusing bar tender - sorry about the cataracts. Welcoming atmosphere but the beer was pricey! Worth a visit.

Best atmosphere in town for sports. Nice food and Drink deals for everyone to have a good time. Dog and child friendly is a massive bonus. One of the only places to have Hazy Jane on tap

Thank you so much for a lovely lunch. My wife, kids and I dined with our friends last weekend and the food was first class and was superb,in particular the mix grilled was outstanding. All of the staff were friendly and attentive and really added to the occasion. Thank you all, we will definitely be coming back and recommending you.

Ive always come to this restaurant for many years for one particular burger i have the notorious p.i.g and honey-glazed burger but now ive descovered its been taking of the menu, there isnt any burgers which couldnt beat them I just came here for something to eat on the 13th june but the food was cold

The food was good but not special, we found it very annoying that there were too many staff walking around, and if you had even 1 sip of drink, the staff refilled your glass with your own bottle. I had not yet put down my fork after the last bite and my plate had already disappeared. We were immediately asked if we wanted dessert. When our answer was no, we had the bill within 2 minutes. We quickly finished our glass and we were standing. outside within half an hour. And that while there were still 4 empty tables.

Returned again today for breakfast by far the best in the town staff very attentive

If you can't scamble or cook an egg to well done, I suggest your in the wrong job.

A great place for sitting and relaxing in the sun,with a cool drink and snack,while watching the world go by.

2 for a tenner meals are amazing. Why cook and do the dishes when we can get fish and chips for a tenner. Totally awesome. And not small portions either. We still visit here on a regular basis for our now obligatory fish and chips. We have now also become very close with the bar staff who are so friendly and welcoming. What more could you want nice place, great food, lovely staff. Don't walk past go in you will thank me.

Came in to order food and was told by the lovely bar staff that hour wait on food to which the lovely bar staff informed me was a hour wait on 3 starter snacks….. went to order and was told the chef wouldn’t accept anymore orders as he had 10 in front….. I told her it’s 3 snack started and she told me the chef would kick off at her…. If the chef can’t cope with ordered he’s too much of a princess to be a chef he should be a fairy seams more fitting and to hear him shouting at his front of house was disappointed and disgusting!!!! Can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen I feel sorry for his FEAMAL staff will not be going again disgusting atmosphere due to a bully chef that clearly spits in food

Toilets have been upgraded . Staff (especially the manager) have been incredibly accommodating. Food menu is awesome 👌. Definitely on my places to recommend to visitors and locals alike .

The medium breakfast was very nice but only served before 12 noon. However, my partner wasn't happy with the runny eggs.

I had the must-taste fish and chips on the Duke of Devonshire. Love the atmosphere with nice music playing and some sports. They have TVs everywhere which is good. I will visit again in the future with my whole family Really friendly staff and dog friendly as well.

I visit the Duke of Devonshire on a regular basis. It’s my go to pub when I’m in town with friends. Always a warm welcome from Monica, Kate and Caroline. Great service and good affordable food. The atmosphere is amazing when live sports is being played and good music always in the background. Highly recommend if you’re in Eastbourne for a long weekend of just passing through

We come in at least once a week to have lunch and a couple of drinks. We are always welcomed with a friendly face, Monica, Kate and Caroline are fun and know what we drink.They ensure that we want to keep coming babk, thanks ladies your all stars 🌟

Great place to have a drink & food. Monika is friendly and welcoming, as are the team. ( don't know all their names) Have been to the Duke with friends but also on my own, being female not every pub feels comfortable but I have always been able to relax and enjoy myself. Would recommend warmly.

Amazing pub, food and staff. My familly and I we came a Cross the duke of devonshire pub and we deffintly we are putting this restaurante/pub in our holiday list again when we in Eastbourne . Especially because the staff are really friendly and happy , what is really Nice to see. We liked specially two staffs , her names was kate with great smile and monika with Nice bunter, this Company should be proud of the staffs They go it. The food was spot on we had double pepperoni pizza and hot chicken stack with some shares as a starters and fish and chips. I told my friends about this amazing pub and they are excited for there holidays in eastbourne.

What an awful experience. Food was pretty good, the building is quite nice too, so you would think based on that, a pretty good experience. Wrong! If you want any sort of welcoming accommodation this place cannot provide one tiny bit. Monika is quite frankly the worst member of staff I have ever come across. Openly and loudly insulting a guest is not the way forward. Neither is complaining about making her work (having to bring over two drinks from the bar 10 steps away.) Another M&B pub that disappoints due to staff. What a surprise! Working for the company myself, I am embarrassed people like Monika are what we are perceived to be. If I had wanted a miserable woman serve me and make comments about my weight, I would have made the short trip to Brighton Marina to go to Karen’s diner. It’s handy to know there is one in Eastbourne too. Stay away.

Always a warm welcome here at this pub that feels like an old fashioned local rather than a chain pub. Great sports coverage too. Staff are always friendly & welcoming and really feels like they are happy you’re there. Food & drinks really good value & nice quality.

Sports bar, very friendly. Only thing I would say, price of drinks is expensive.
