The table was spartan / chairs pretty uncomfortable - but limited availability on the menu / we close the fixed price and then the main unavailable : so chose just regular pie but then they reverted entire price to main menu - extortionate £12 for a poorly served prawn cocktail with 2 ‘white ‘ bread stale slices no butter and wrong implements - average main course/ slow service - disappointing !

We went to the Oyster Bed for Mother’s Day and I took my friend a few weeks ago on a Saturday lunch time. Both times the food was amazing. It was hot fresh and very tasty. We had the set meal on Mother’s Day and it was very tasty. Rubi was our waitress and she was very professional and helpful. She even popped back to the table to explain about the Yorkshire pudding as our friend is a vegetarian. When I brought my friend for lunch we had Will as our waiter. Again he was very professional and helpful. My friend wanted a change to her dessert and he spoke to the chef and nothing was a problem. We will definitely be returning soon. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. I’m so pleased the Oyster Bed is back to its glory. We stopped going for a long time as it was terrible in there. The food the waiting time, it was awful. But now it is better than before. Well done xxx

We had a lovely weekend stay at The Five Bells ,we were greeted by a lovely lady Liz who checked us in,the room was beautifully clean and inviting with an offering of teas and coffees . Later that day after a long busy one we returned and again greeted by the lovely smiling Liz who seemed to be running the resturant ,we hadn't book but this wasn't a problem . Great menu with lots to choose from service was spot on we will definitely be returning again soon !!

Gracias, querido Kings Arms.

I have been for lunch at the Bottle House many times in the past, and recently returned after an 18 month haitus. I really wish I had not bothered, the food has substantially declined. I ordered the pork belly main course. The carrots were hard, barely cooked. The so called caramelised apple was a slice of raw apple that spent a few seconds in a frying pan. There was no crackling (always was in the past). The sauce tasted like something out of a packet. My companion was equally unimpressed. The place was not particularly busy but there was a long wait for the food, I noticed another table complaining. Such a shame, this was once our favourite venue on the Kent walking trails. We will not be returning.

I highly recommend the Wheatsheaf. The interior is welcome, its history adding much charm. The outside area has been extended and once it’s a bit warmer provides excellent seating, with umbrellas providing much needed shade when it gets too hot. An Extensive and wide ranging menu, my vegetarian wife was very pleased, too often this important element is an afterthought at pubs. The Wheatsheaf burger was towering and delicious and fries excellent. The reports on the chicken shawarma, mushroom risotto and heritage tomato salad were glowing. Restaurant was busy but service excellent. If I were to pick out one possible improvement, it would be that staff shouldn’t run. It creates a hint of chaos when the reality is that everything went extremely smoothly! Thank you to everyone for proving us with such a lovely evening!

After ordering the food took nearly 25 minutes to come although the cafe was only half full , I ordered the Welsh rarebit which I’ve had before and it was about 6 inches square but this time it was 4 inches square , stodgy and only warm with about 12 small salad leaves , a tiny portion of food for £7.99 . My friend had a bowl of mushroom soup which also was a tiny portion , only warm and watery not thick as you expect soup to be ,again £7.99. We have been eating there for at least 15 years but will not be going again as it is very expensive and poor quality food with not very friendly staff
