Buen pub amable. El almuerzo fue bueno. Precios razonables. Baños limpios. El pub en sí estaba limpio y ordenado. Tenía mesas exteriores para fumar.

El pub era muy tranquilo, la calidad de la cerveza era buena, pero fue decepcionado por el servicio, el personal del bar comiendo una comida detrás de la barra, no parecía querer ser interrumpido, tanto el personal del bar constantemente en sus teléfonos móviles, este pub no es tan bueno como era hace unos años, no volvería a visitar aquí de nuevo, un montón de mejores pubs cercanos

I love this pub, I always have. BUT! I just sipped an ale that was clearly off, or maybe the pipes were unclean? I drank maybe a third of the pint and it's made me quite sick. I hope the White Horse sees this because it's a real shame that one of my favorite pubs in Oxford might let the side down like this. And I normally wouldn't grumble but I feel it's very important to keep a close eye on unpasteurized ales like this because they can make for a very uncomfortable experience if not kept properly. I do hope noone else is glued to the toilet from this. Please, please, please maintain good taps and good beer!

Only went there for a pint. The bartender was nice. The manager just stared at his phone the whole evening

More than 14 years ago, as fans of Inspector Morse and Lewis, we happened to visit the White Horse. With a sense of nostalgia, we wanted to share this with my parents and children. Unfortunately we came home from a rude awakening. 14 years ago we had a chat with the bartender and the owner even allowed us to step behind the tap. What a wonderful evening we had then. Now we were here for lunch and one waitress was only interested in her phone and the other waitress was only paying attention to her boyfriend who was visiting. The food itself was fine, but the surroundings were lacking. With - as it turned out - a new owner, most of the photos of/with Morse and Lewis had been removed. And so we had to make do with the old feeling of the past. And in any case, The White Horse has lost its authenticity for us.

Nice little pub opposite a lot of busy attractions. I really enjoyed the interior but the tables outside would be perfect in better weather to watch people pass by. Service was friendly and laid back. Beer was in good condition.

Called in late afternoon early evening to have food as the board outside advertising homemade food only to go and find out they only serve at lunchtime, so was a bit disappointed, inside is a narrow pub with a good vibe. So the big question would I go back? This time it would be a No.

Definitely worth a visit... You feel the rush of history and if you are a Morse fan, the place is a must. The place does not have a large selection of beers.

Pub adecuado con personal amable y amable. Vierten una pinta sólida. Atmósfera es spot - on. No puede superar la ubicación, especialmente hoy como un gran respiro del frío amargo.

Visitado aquí después de visitar en nuestra última visita a Oxford que fue el inicio de la pandemia. Muy ocupado por poco tiempo y luego se puso más tranquilo. Creo que debe haber una nueva dirección. Fue una encantadora señora mayor la última vez. Nos dimos cuenta de que todas las fotografías de Morse también se fueron. Teníamos pescado y patatas fritas porciones no muy grandes, pero las patatas fritas eran tan buenos, el pescado un poco demasiado crujiente, pero todavía agradable.

¡Qué joyita! Gran ambiente, servicio increíble, comida encantadora y precios muy razonables. Buena selección de cervezas y otras bebidas, buen menú de almuerzo, recién cocinado con proveedores locales. No puedo esperar para volver y recomiendo encarecidamente. Una necesidad absoluta, especialmente para los fans de Morse y Lewis.

Friendly staff and really awesome beers! Splendid choice, from classic tastes to really unique ones.

Slipped in for a swiftie as fancied one last pint and after a visit last year. Narrow smallold wood panelled pub. Create a No piped music or telly. Creates a good chatty atmosphere. Pint of Hogsback TEA. Always include it on your Oxford pub tour

Este es un pub encantador, atmosférico, antiguo-tiempo utilizado en todas las series Morse - Endeavour, Lewis, y el inspector Morse. A diferencia del crítico que dijo que las bebidas eran cortas, me parecieron generosas y el personal del bar muy amable. Todavía no he comido allí, pero pásate a tomar una media pinta cada vez que esté en Oxford. Es muy conveniente, cerca de Blackwell's y el Weston (parte del Bodleian) y es verdaderamente viejo - escuela. A veces no hay nadie, otras veces está atascado, difícil de predecir. Me encanta el lugar.

Great location good food and a decent pint..

I am a huge fan of this pub! It's a frequent stop on a niche day. Full of history! The staff are great, space is limited inside but plenty of room outside.

It's an Oxford classic pub: down steps to the dark, long and. narrow bar area and you're in Inspector Morse's favourite pub. Good beer too. Now that Broad Street is now more or less pedestrianised their tables outside are tranquil with great views of the Bodleian and Sheldonian

For fans of Morse, quintessential British conviviality and super friendly service. You can even taste beers in advance to make your choice.

Good bar close to the main attractions of Oxford. The waitresses are not so friendly, but the atmosphere of the place is very good. Several of us came to this bar because it appears in one of the episodes of the Endeavor series: young Morse.

Small measures and rude staff. We stopped in for a couple of drinks and our glasses were quite a bit short of the measurement as indicated on the glass. First time we didn't say anything, second time we did. The staff were rude and made me feel really awkward and embarrassed. It should have been a simple apology.

There was a group of us on a birthday pub crawl for my partner. The staff were extremely rude and unwelcoming from the moment we arrived. We would have spent a lot of money on a few drinks but decided not to stay. We had already been to the Turf Tavern and Varsity bar where staff were very polite and welcoming. This pub really needs to arrange for lessons in courtesy and manners for their staff.

Staff rude . Food limited Beer flat . No customers Wouldn't recommend spend your hard earned Money on a much nicer place with good staff and a fun atmosphere. Needs a staff upgrade Refresh . Pub will go into liquidation if the same staff continue to run it. Whatch that space not if but when lol 😆

Old style pub on the Broad Street ... good to pop in for a pint and sit down inside or sit outside ... nice vibe ... decent selection of drinks on tap

A historic English pub in Oxford has a good selection of ales and beers. It’s a fun place to have a pint, a snack and enjoy the crowds especially having been on a tour bus all day. We were there during a festival which added to the already cheerful atmosphere. If your touring around Oxford I highly recommend you visit this classic pub.

What a lovely visit. Popped in while exploring Oxford. Small traditional pub with the added bonus of good service. The two female staff had a positive attitude even when we overheard the evening shift wasn’t coming they volunteered to stay and handle the coverage with no whining just a positive attitude. Food was good too. When I later realized some of my favorite shows from the past were filmed here (Morse and Lewis) it was an added bonus. If I’m in the neighborhood again would definitely stop by.

Cosy, classic pub with nice wooden panels and comfortable benches. However, the women's toilet was completely out of order (some guest stuffed the toilet seat full of paper) on our (only) visit. Boring and the staff didn't seem to care much. We didn't eat any food on our visit so don't know how it is.

On Saturday 24th Feb 2024, at around 6pm, my friend and I went into this pub. Because it was crowded, we went and sat at the one table outside the pub. We were outside for about half an hour and had 2 drinks each. I was not drunk. Before leaving the pub, I just wanted to go inside to use the toilet. I have cerebral palsy, meaning that I needed to hold onto the handrail of the steps down into the pub, and I walk with a slightly unusual gait. When I tried to re-enter the pub to use the toilet, a bouncer prevented me from doing so on the basis that I was 'drunk.' Throughout our encounter, he was confrontational and unprofessional. I explained very clearly that I just wanted to use the toilet before leaving. The bouncer continued to refuse to allow me access and told me to 'f*** off', which is entirely unacceptable. This incident left me feeling demeaned and humiliated and has stayed with me since. Security staff should have enough awareness to be able to assess the difference between someone being drunk and having a disability, and should certainly not be abusive to customers. I am also disappointed that I have been forced to report this by leaving a review, as there is no other way to contact this pub. Given the many other pubs available in the area, I would urge others not go to this one.

Lovely pub, friendly staff, good range of real ales, foods fantastic although not available in the evenings. Well worth a visit if your in town

Couldn't believe how much this pub has declined since our last visit. It was always on our list of Oxford PHs. However, and for whatever reason, all aspects were poor, including the beer, atmosphere and service.

I love this pub. Packed full of character.

Went in there this weekend for a Xmas drink. Most unhappy and grumpy bar staff in Oxford felt unwelcome.

Visited for a quick drink, it was very busy in there as usual, but bar staff served us quickly and were very friendly.

All of the bar staff were so rude, initially I thought it was a problem with our crowd but then they were same with everyone.

Rude staff, we came as a party of 10 and got multiple eye rolls from the blonde bar maid. We spent £60 on a round, will not return. Would have stayed and spent more, but felt awkward!

The ideal Oxford pub. Plenty of locals; mostly too obscure to be overrun by tourists.

We visited on 26th of November evening. It is a tiny pub in a very old beautiful building; very cosy! We went it after a long day of sightseeing and for our third pints of the day before having dinner, so we were already on the way to tipsyland. The bar staff, the two ladies put up with our antiques with big smiles and made us feel welcome ( we sat on 3 different tables and broken a glass 🤦🏻‍♀️). Thank you for the lovely service!

One of Oxford's finest pubs. Great selection of beers, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Mix of students, tourists and locals that works well.

I visited the pub to experience of it's historical atmosphere. I ordered a soup and after 10 minutes my family came to in as well. We asked to move somewhere else because space was not enough for us and one of group was leaving from the one of big table. Staff was not friendly, she responded unpleasant and they were whispering eachother about us while looking at us. Do I have to order for all of us or should not ask to move? I felt weird because of their approach.

Don’t bother going there as an international student!! They refused to serve anyone without a British ID. Well - actually they carded all the women and none of the guys (we went with a group of around 25 people)… The waitress was also super rude and condescending about our different European IDs. We went with the MCR and a lot of us already did our undergrad in the UK so lived here for several years and this has never happened to anyone before. But the atmosphere seemed super boring anyway so we just went on.

Tiny pub, but that's the charm. It's an original town pub and very cosy. Menu was limited but really tasty. Try the French Onion Quiche-really nice. Service by the two girls was spot on. Well done. We'll 'pop in' next time we're in town

The mates who are looking for a place for weekdays Sunday roast in Oxford like me….they don’t do sunday roast on weekdays anymore as the information by tripadviser is pretty old…it was a shame but the food and atmosphere were really cool and we enjoyed lots xx recommended!

Otroligt mysig engelsk pub med anor. Trevlig personal. Men ärligt talat slitet och inte särskilt fräscht. Men Morse har ju druckit öl här! Bara det!!

Staff is really nice and prices are good. Beer/ale/cider selection somewhat limited. No food other than bar snacks and stale crisps.

Been here before and enjoyed it. However on this particular night it felt like it was meant to be only for the staff and thier friends. It didn't lend to a comfortable atmosphere for others. Has one drink and left.

Please only come to this establishment if you're from a certain class or economic background. Bar staff are first class eyerollers.

Staff more interested in eating their lunch, singing along to presumably their choice of music and what we were horrified to see drinking shots! Uncomfortable seating, dirty toilets, no atmosphere. Wouldn’t recommend and certainly won’t be back. It’s a real shame as could be a great wee pub

Nice pub with limited liquors and lovely atmosphere! The pub is small but it has a really lovely atmosphere :) we only went for drinks but it was lovely. The outside seats are quite cramped so having more apace between them and having some roof will make it even better!

We‘ve been there at 12:02 (not open yet) waited, because we realy wanted to have a pint there. After a couple of minutes they opened my partner went in for order and I put our bags on one of there benches. A lady asked us quite rudely to go inside because she needed the space to put the tables up. Because of the nice weather I stayed outside, took our bags away and just waited. Once the table was put up and my partner came back (without drinks because they told him we cannot sit outside) she said we are still not allowed there. Even more unfriendly than before. I wanted to leave but as we already payed for the pint we ended up standing inside and drinking our pints. Other guests have been more clever: came in and left because they got also no nice service. Fazit: Never will go there again, never will tell guests and friends again to go there.

Set opposite the Sheldonian Theatre, on the busy Broad Street area, the pub has kerb appeal. However we can't drink a view. Inside the pub is very much showing its age. The toilets were awful, not just unclean but one urinal taped off with a bag over it . The real ale range was limited and passable, but offered little stand out fayre. Inside is gloomy and dark. I get a lot of that is the logistics of an old wood panelled building but lightning is basic and as things have been added over the years it's all a bit incoherent. Cheesy pop music was being played but sadly this pub needs much more TLC and to up its game.

We haven't try food but its great place with wonderful view and extremely rude waiter( the one without tatoo's) So unhappy girl ( i bet your name is Karen) find better job if this one doesnt satisfy u. U are literally ruining this place.

We ended up in The White Horse having, somewhat optimistically, hoped to have lunch at the Turf Tavern. It was a pleasant surprise. Great value for central Oxford and the brisket baguettes were delicious and generously filled. There was a decent, varied choice of beer there, too, so we tarried awhile. Friendly and helpful service. Interestingly, the clientele's somewhat more mature nowadays (Jul 2023) than when we'd been there in earlier years when it had been dominated by students. Next door to Blackwell's Bookshop, which is always a bonus if you like one of the best bookshops in the world.

Perfect spot, excellent food, great beer. We stopped for lunch on a tour of Oxford. We loved the sign saying that Churchill drank there and Morse was filmed there too. The brisket baguette (with duch fat) is amazing. Oh and the prices are very reasonable too!

We called into The White Horse after passing by on the Morse walking tour, just a quick drink so can’t comment on the food.

In front of the White Horse is probably one of the best locations to drink a beer in Oxford.

Twice I've been in this month, and twice I've been met with a surly, verging on rude, reception from the barstaff; very unwelcoming. One of the barstaff constantly kissing her waiting boyfriend across the bar was not exactly what you really want to see in a bar either. Another case (as with the now defunct Eagle and Child) of an Oxford pub surviving on its fame, rather than on its quality, atmospere or level of service.

Good choice of beers and attentive and friendly service at the bar. Great seating outside, along with enough space indoors. An ideal traditional pub to while away a few hours, untouched by the scourge of TV screens that is steadily taking over so many other pubs. Watch out if you're 6 foot 4 and above - the beams above your head will catch you out after a few drinks.

We visited because of the pub's connections to television programs "Endeavour," "Morse," and "Inspector Lewis." The pub did not disappoint! Great ales, the best pickled eggs! Full meal service ended at 4, but bar snacks were perfect.

It was great to attend during a quite time. It's a pub with historic value and a low ceiling. It's beautiful, but there is something missing from this pub.
