Caffe Nero in Oxford

Extremely inefficient staff. Very very slow service at an off-peak time. Seems the two staff on shift are either clearly trainee or just clueless. The girl keeps hiding when one or two people walk in. Customers walking out!!

After travelling on a coach fir 5 hours - I went into cafe Nero on Gloucester Green Oxford bus station .. I was so tired … and didn’t realise I had been charged £10.15 for one coffee !

The morning shift was fantastic! The barista was genuinely dedicated to their craft and the manager even handed me a milkshake on the house! Previous purchases confirm this wasn't a one-off. Would absolutely recommend as the place to have a pre-commute colazione at the bus station 10/10

The staff at Nero...I don't know how they do it but every Nero I have visited has had the most wonderful, attentive and engaging staff.

Had to run and catch my bus and there was a long queue. Barista offered to make me my drink quickly without re entering the queue.

Staff are always helpful & super fast in this branch — never had a long wait in the queue here. There’s a good amount of seating upstairs & downstairs, some with chargers, and a decent loo. The free Wi-Fi and quiet background music makes this an ideal spot to work from ‘home!’

We visited this morning Cafe Nero at Gloucester Green and unfortunately was a horrible experience. I entered the shop with my partner, we were second on the queue and the “barista” completely ignored us. After a couple more people walked in we were told that we were queuing on the wrong side in a very rude way and as we explained that our bus was about to go he said “well i have costumers as well”. So by the look of it not everyone is treated the same way!! This is not hospitality i’m afraid and if you don’t like to welcome and host people were you work then maybe is time to change occupation!

I was awaiting a friend to arrive on a morning bus at Gloucester Green when I popped into Caffe Nero for a cappuccino and sweet roll. The coffee was the best cup of coffee I've had in days. I got a weak imitation of coffee at another establishment the day before. The sweet raisin pastry I had was fresh, sweet and tasty. The restaurant played beautiful music and it was not too loud. The atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. I would return here, even if I wasn't waiting for a bus to come in.

Stayed at a flat right next to it, and staff was very friendly and helpful.

A convenient cafe next to the market. Toilets could be cleaner, even if you need to take the key from the bar to access it.

Esperando cerca de la estación de autobuses, tomé un café rápido en el Café Nero. Fue uno de los mejores cafés que he probado en mucho tiempo. Estuve encantado de aceptar una de sus tarjetas de fidelidad. Volveré.

La tienda estaba en Gloucester Square, a pasos de nuestro hotel que no ofrecía desayuno. Los cuatro que pedimos son bebidas de café expreso y seleccionados de una amplia gama de pasteles, desde croissants hasta bollos. Al compartir esto entre nosotros, acordamos que eran de buena calidad de panadería y muy superiores a los ofrecidos en lugares como Starbucks. Más adelante en nuestro viaje buscamos otras tiendas y encontramos que la calidad era consistente. Sus precios eran un poco más altos pero valió la pena.

I hadn't visited many of these coffee shops, and none in Oxford prior to this occasion. On previous visits I'd not been over-impressed with the cappuccino, but I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised here. That said, although it TASTED strong enough, what I was peering into looked rather anaemic - I feared the worst, but actually quite enjoyed it. The cakes on offer looked tempting enough(the pastries looked VERY good!) - I chose a Belgian chocolate muffin and was impressed, as it was both fresh and extremely chocolatey. If the standards were kept up to this level I would certainly visit again.

we went to cafe nero in witney on saturday for two caramel frappes with cream on top his answer behind the counter was cant do that today i asked why not he said just cant so my answer was cant be bothered then he said yeah we settled for two without sream sat out side drinking it and lo and behold a pretty girl comes out drinking a coffee with cream on top if thats the way they treat their customers we will go to costa next time and looking at other trip adviser reviews we are not alone on this matter.

Terrible service, they forgot my toast on the toaster even if there wasn't anybody else in the cafe! Staff was in their phones, chatting and taking pictures and myself and a friend queuing waiting for service. It was the worst latte I had in my life and I threw it away - and believe me: I have NEVER refused coffee.

I was so frustrated that we couldn't even get to any seating! NOT accessible at all! Even an able bodied person would have to squeeze past people sat out the front. We even tried around the back only to find steps! Wheelchair user NOT impressed at all!

I'm not alone in thinking the staff were just unfriendly based on other reviews before this. The gentleman who was working today was trying to be welcoming and had a smile on his face. The other two ladies did not smile or keep eye contact with anyone. It seemed like we were doing them a favour and they really let their colleague down. Unbelievable in this day and age - go and work somewhere else!!

I have been in there twice and both times the staff have been rude and unwelcoming. The first time there was a new barrister and whilst he was friendly his co worker did nothing to help him she just looked irritated and was pottering around. even when i asked if i could pay (which i am guessing was just pressing the card machine button as he had already put my order on the till) she said "no as i'm not your server". Adding to this, there was a woman behind me who simply wanted ice in her drink and three times the woman behind the counter noticed her but CHOSE to ignore her and carry on with doing nothing. I went there a second time on the way back home, and not only were both staff members rolling their eyes when i came in, she got my order wrong even though i was the only customer in there. I usually take customer service like that with a pinch of salt but that was ridiculous. the only member of staff who was relatively friendly and did not seem to mind to work with the trainee barrister. its a shame because the Cafe Nero on the High street in Oxford is lovely, the staff members there are all friendly, and they all seem to help each other help. Not only that, the coffee there is one of the best i have ever tasted and think it because they just take time in training their staff.

I must disagree with one reviewer who commented on the squalid surroundings . It's in a bus station , do you expect staff to clean up outside ? Perhaps I use this at the wrong time of day but I have always found it clean, including the toilet . Great coffee, friendly staff .

The cafe has 2 entrances and exits that run through Gloucester Green. Its a good place to wait for a coach or bus. In fact you can do this even without buying anything as the staff are so busy & just ignore "sitters". The surrounds are very run down and squalid. Pigeon mess,washing hungout from balconies,greasy spills on the pavements, urine stained back alleys,old trolleys with bags of the homeless piled up and unattended, However the cafe inside is fairly clean serving the usual fayre. Cafe Nero is of course associated with "Nero"in my mind-the notorioyus Roman Emperor and Tyrant who persecuted Christians. Always an odd choice of name. One would not name a cafe after 20th Century Tyrnats surely?

Just came in for a coffee and a sit down. Wanted to sit in and relax and to drink coffee slowly. Some tables were left messy so we decided against using Cafe Nero. It's a shame really as the coffee is strong and tasty.

The coffee is of course excellent. Nonetheless, the store is rarely clean. The tables are constantly dirty (I have visited the store many times). The staff is not particularly bothered with proper cleaning up after a customer leaves the place. Not the best Nero in Oxford.

I'm something of a reluctant user here - my favoured spot was the now-closed Taylor's which was right beside the Oxford Tube stance. My main Caffè Nero comparison points are the decidely scruffy one in Banbury (which I resolutely avoid),and the cramped and uninviting one at Edinburgh Waverley (where I prefer to use their Express point), so this more spacious outlet feels airy and always plays a civilised, very Oxford classical soundtrack. The coffee is hot and strong, and hits the early morning spot.

A handy place for tea and cake in the afternoon. Lunch is also great here. Only down side was they didn't have any scones on the day I visited which was a pity because they're usually very good

The café is rather small considering the number of people stopping for a coffee and to warm up a bit. The coffee was good. No, not spectacular, but good. The blend was also good. The croissants were fresh, tasty and fluffy, just the way a croissant should be. And they didn't have that many; they were sold out by the time I was out of there...

It's quite obvious that this Caffè Nero is prospering mostly because of travelers departing from bus station. The coffee itself is fine, it's not the perfect blend you could find somewhere else, but if you are in hurry and your bus it's almost here, it's really nice to have a coffee shop close.

Descubrí Caffè Nero al intentar refugiarme de una intensa lluvia que se desató imprevistamente en Oxford. El café y la pastelería me resultaron excelentes, así que seguí frecuentando sus locales, que abundan en en Reino Unido.

En mi visita a Oxford lo elegimos al desatarse una lluvia torrencial. Degustamos un buen café y un rico postre.

Shortchanged again. Average coffee so went a couple of doors away at Combibos where the coffee is better. Scruffy setting.
