A lovely warm and welcoming pub/restaurant. We have been coming here, for our annual family's Christmas get together, for the last 4 years. The service has always been great and the food delicious. Lilly W was fantastic today, serving us with a smile, and tending to our needs. Thank you Lilly.

We had a big table and had to pre order. Which I personally hate doing. Even though we pre ordered there was still over an hour wait for food. Ordered a Macaroni cheese and my parter a lasagne. It was microwaved and was like a child’s portion. Very overpriced for what it is would not come out of choice again.

This is our second stay at this hotel and all worked well again. We got our requested room, even having a call before check in to see how we wanted the bed/s made up, good welcome and after a good dinner enjoyed a very comfortable nights sleep with everything we needed including easy WiFi. The pub/restaurant part of the hotel is quite large, with good roomy and spaced out tables for eating and a very happy team of servers. We look forward to our next visit in 4 weeks time.

Having stayed at The Five Bells previously and not had a very good experience my wife and I decided that the problems we had may have been resolved. With that in mind we decided that we would book for dinner . We were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. After a while we were asked if we would like to order drinks . We were very specific in requesting a Guinness and two CocaColas one with lemon but No Ice . Both cokes came with Ice and lemon. We called the waitress and pointed out the error ,she took the glass away and shortly came back with same glass with water from the melted ice in it and No Lemon ,not really acceptable . When ordering the food my sister in law ordered the Fish and chips and requested not a lot of chips please. It arrived with enough chips to feed two people , they were nearly all wasted, the curry my wife ordered was tasteless . Fortunately my gammon was fine. After this debacle we have decided that next time we visit Weston Turville we will eat elsewhere.

We stayed at the Five Bells Pub Weston Turville Aylesbury for two nights bed & breakfast. Our friends joined us on our second night also bed & breakfast. We ate on both nights at the pub. Rooms were spotlessly clean & had a lovely fresh clean smell. Very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, very good choice, made to order with quality ingredients. Evening meals were out of this world. So professionally presented & very tasty. Staff exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. On check in, Martina - very welcoming. Evenings, Sam, Lily one & Lily two - brilliant service throughout. Breakfast, Karen - lovely lady, nothing too much trouble, a pleasure to talk to. Not forgetting James manager & executive chef Kate, outstanding. All the staff work as a team. We all enjoyed our entire stay from arrival to departure. We wish we lived nearer we would return in an instant !! If anyone is looking to stay here do not hesitate you won’t be disappointed.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, the place is clean and tidy and the atmosphere is perfect, however the food, being quite an important aspect needs addressing. A couple of items were not available at 6pm, like no pies of the day, the Lasagne was very runny with little taste and my two fried eggs that came with my gammon were hard and over-cooked. The Honeycomb Dome was fairly tasteless, with no evidence of any honeycomb and certainly no sweetness about it and the crumble was also dry and tasteless. I have experienced many good meals here in the past, so won't write the place off, but feel some of the basics do need addressing. I'm hoping this is a one off and will re-visit in the future.

We had friends from London and Lancashire visit for a long weekend and I decided we would revisit this property only ever having been once before. This time it was for Sunday lunch. 6 of us in total and we decided to go directly for the mains. As a result we tested the menu. Trio of roasts ( beef, turkey, pork belly) x 2, Veggie Wellington, hunters chicken, roast sirloin of beef and roast lamb. Everybody loved it! Plenty of veg and roasties plus a big Yorkshire pudding. 2 friends had dessert and plenty of drinks to choose from. It’s good value, great food and impeccable service. This property doesn’t look much from the outside but with a huge car park, plenty of outdoor eating areas, and hotel rooms it caters for all! The inside is amazing, fully of oak beams and bright, comfortable dinning areas. Thank you for making our special weekend more special and a big thank you to Jotham, Sam, Josh. & James

Lovely pub with good food and the breakfast was great. Fantastic breakfast service by friendly and welcoming Karen. However, there was a leak and they moved my rooms which, after a stressful day was not a good thing to come back to. My room had been a nice one upstairs and I was moved to a poky, dark downstairs one on the corner by the entrance/car park so it was noisy. However, they did take my complaint seriously and gave me £50 off dinner.

We were treated beautifully despite how busy they were. Our waitress Lily W was attentive, efficient and friendly. All done with a warm smile and nothing was too much trouble for her. She checked on us constantly and was a true credit to The Five Bells. Some of our food choices weren't available, which was a shame, but Lily was considerate in her explanation and helped with our alternative choices. She is one of the loveliest waitresses I've ever had. I hope The Five Bells value her because she's brilliant.

The food was enjoyable, but sadly the customer service was absolutely dreadful. We were there for Mothers day at dinner time. I was expecting to arrive to a full restaurant and was surprised at the lack of diners on such a busy day. I wasn't surprised for very long. Many other pubs enjoy a full service on such an important day. Not here. Our whole meal time took almost 3 hours and that is only because I kept going to the bar to remind them they hadn't taken our order, we were waiting for drinks, we needed to order pudding etc. You might expect this if the restaurant was full but there were only two other tables being served. During pudding (I cant believe we made it to pudding) the servers were behind the bar reading poor reviews, laughing, joking and swearing about the customers they have had. The swearing was totally innapropriate given that our children are 6 and 2 and could hear everything they were saying. I went to the bar and told them we could hear them and we had experienced the same poor service so they shouldn't be laughing. They apologised but waited for me to turn my back before running off snickering. Unbelievable. If I was the Head Chef, I would be fuming given the food was good but the service was so poor. I always enjoy going to a Vintage Inn pub (we normally go to Bugle Horn in Stone) but this was awful. We won't be returning.

We had dinner here last Friday. The food was good and reasonably priced but service was painfully slow. My husband actually wanted to order the ribeye but was informed that they were out. He ordered the sirloin instead. While we were waiting for someone to take down our orders for dessert, we were surprised to hear that the group of six next to us ordered 2 ribeye steaks! I ordered an oat flat white to go with my dessert but I am pretty sure the drink that I got was not made with oat milk. While enjoying the main course we had discussed whether we should try their Sunday lunch. We were in agreement that we should, but I think we need to get there the previous evening so as to be served punctually and for our desired items to still be available!

I have to say It was really disappointing. We arrived , my family taking me for a Mother’s Day meal . On arrival there seemed to be a mix up about where we would be seated , we’d already booked in advance . The starter was ok but arrived without the artisan fresh bread in the prawn and chorizo . When asked they gave us two slices of best of both bread and the same on our Duck parfait . The main was not cooked properly and there was a hair in in the sea bass which tasted revolting ! The waiter and waitress were really lovely helpful and apologetic ! I asked for tea which was served with one tea bag and was cold ! The tea was so weak it was unbelievable! They then took almost an hour to serve our deserts after we’d left most of the main course .All in all the desert was the best part . It was the worst meal ever . In leaving , I mentioned to the woman taking our payment how disappointed we were and she brushed it aside . I would never return to eat at the five bells again . When you pay good money for food you cannot even eat properly .My son left hungry and disappointed . Not good at all !!!

Very nice warm and pleasant atmosphere. Service attentive and friendly. Wines, excellent value . Scallops and chorizo on pea purée starter was very tasty but shocking bad value. Little more than one scallop sliced and three thin slices of chorizo for £9.25! Rare sirloin steak was perfect.. The poor value for money of the starter was questioned and refered to the kitchen but no response received.

We arrived early as a party of six, and sat in the garden with drinks which were brought out as no bar service. We ordered six different items from a reduced menu, and all the meals were excellently cooked and served with one minor exception. Having used this restaurant over many years this is only the second time we have had to comment on either service or food. There is however one point that needs to be addressed by the management - most customers were obeying social distancing, but we observed one lady wandering around talking to people that she knew at different tables.

On visiting the area where we used to live called into the Five Bells for dinner. Covid rules in place and no complaints there. Orders taken and starters arrived, very tasty pates, could have done with a bit more sour dough toast but fine. My wife had ordered the duo of lamb. The carrots and broccoli were very large and as a result the centres were raw and had not been cooked at all. The lamb rump was very fatty and the meat had been overcooked and my wife could not cut it with her knife. This was pointed out to the waitress who did nothing more than bring her a steak knife to use. The shepherds pie was virtually devoid of any meat. My meal was okay apart from the asparagus which was very stringy at the bottom and had not been shaved. When the waitress returned and cleared the table she asked if everything had been all right. I replied that some parts had been fine, but others were not. She removed the plates and I saw her talking to the manager, who then disappeared from sight and not reappearing as we paid and left the premises. This was a favourite restaurant of ours when living in the area, but will not be going there any more when we visit the area.

We stayed to be near family so location was good. However I wish I'd have read previous reviews before we ate there, which would have helped. Out of the 2 starters and 2 main courses, 50% was disappointing and we did provide feedback at the time. Maybe it's about time to listen to your customers and take some of the dishes off the menu ie: fishcakes, prawn cocktail. Derek, you need to be a bit more welcoming too, which starts at when your customers check in. Majority of bar staff were pleasant and customer focused. We had 2 double rooms, number 1 was a little claustrophic had 2 people stayed there, room 7 was nice and spacious. Bar and restaurant area is pleasant. Overall was okay, just let down by the welcome and some of the meals.

Food was really good, I had the 'House Burger' which was very tasty - hard to hold though, everything kept slipping out the sides, so I had to use my knife and fork lol. Was disappointed to not see a healthier chicken burger option on the menu. My sweet potato fries were delicious as expected and my mum loved her meaty pizza, even if they had ran out of red onion chutney. No draft beer or cider was available either. The female that served us was very friendly and bubbly. Not sure why a lot of the tables next to us were out of bounds, as the tables the other side of us with people on them, were just as close.

A wonderful first trip out since Lockdown with the family. Was invited to a birthday dinner celebration on a Saturday evening. We had ore-ordered the food and chosen of the Saturday treats menu. We got a nice welcome and they had an interesting selection of draught beers. We sat at a nice table and waited for our dinner. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed it. It was also such good value. Two things I would like them to consider, one serve the cold starters first, as my hot one had to sit for some time until all the food was delivered. Second, if they have a large table, have more people serve the table, when the food is ready in order to get it out quickly. That all said, I really enjoyed it.

Comfortable restaurant with pleasant staff. Prawns & calamari starter very good.I ordered chicken curry. I was served two slices of unflavoured chicken on a bed of rice with a somewhat congealed blob of curry sauce on top. It was dry & unpleasant. I left most of it on the plate.

Very pleasant and helpful waitress served our family meals, which were varied and all cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chefs.

Accommodation was good, could have done with a chair or bench to put suitcase and clothes on instead of having to put on the floor.. Food at night time was awful. They forgot to bring my starter of prawn cocktail which was just a small amount of chopped lettuce , a dollop of Marie Rose sauce with six prawns on top,, 2 slices of bread which was nice. Fish and chips were awful, batter was soggy and fish tasteless, huge size chips, cold in middle and peas. Would not recommend at all.

Went with family for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was cosy and very atmosphereic, lots of cosy places to sit and wonderful big open fire. Plenty of parking spaces.

What is the point of writing reviews when the restaurant never listens. Such a pity. 2 staff working lunch time so atrociously slow service

I have just returned after a fantastic Sunday roast. Sadly they had ran out of Beef but after tasting the lamb I am not surprised.

I booked for three people for 1.30p.m.and, although there was a table empty, we were asked to wait.Eventually three ladies eating at another table were asked to move and have their dessert elsewhere so that we could have their table. This was embarrassing and when I said so to the waitress she immediately turned and walked away and didn't take our order. We then had a long wait before it was taken and then another long wait before the food came. The people at the next table had been waiting half an hour longer than us and eventually the man in their party nodded off! We ordered the mini dessert and the dessert came but no coffee. My companion went to the bar and asked for the coffee and was told it was coming. Nothing happened, and then we saw it languishing on a tray at the bar. Nothing happened, still,so my companion got up again and went to fetch the coffee himself. We left at just after 4p.m. Bookings were taken every 15 minutes which is totally unrealistic for somewhere so busy on a Sunday. Two of the roasts were off before we started, but the food when we finally received it was delicious, well cooked and nice and hot. The service, however, was appalling, and considering the other reviews I have read on this page obviously not up to usual standard. This was my third visit, the previous two were good, which was why I took guests, but for there to be such a huge difference in service between one visit and another shows bad management and staffing problems. I shan't take the risk again, and will go somewhere else.

This is part of a chain however is has a varied menu and the food has always been good when I’ve visited, 4 times now. Well cooked, decent sized portions. It has a large car park and what I love the most is the ambiance and welcoming atmosphere.

The pub itself is lovely! The decor, the layout, the quirky village feel, the exposed beams! Love it.

Once again a genuine friendly greeting and excellent food. Had the pizza and have to say it was the best I’ve tasted in a long time. Well done Martin and staff. We’ll be back soon.

Went there 3 times. The first time for my birthday, food was ok but the service was slow maybe due for being peak time. The second time I went there for a catch up with some friends and again the service was extremely slow, they let lots of glasses pile up on the table, didn't check if everything was ok with the food, didn't ask if we wanted dessert and eventually we had to pay at the bar. We justify this because it was Sunday lunch time. A couple of weeks later me and my partner decided to have a go again for my mum's 70th birthday dinner surprise. We went there for a 7.15 table booked for 3 people, the restaurant was not busy at all when we ordered 2 salmons and a platter for main. After waiting half an hour the platter arrived, but no sign of the other 2 dishes (mine and my mums). My partner called the waiter asking for the rest. When the waiter came back after 5 minutes from the girl that took the order at the bar he stated there was confusion from the chef. No one prioritised us despite we were already waiting half an hour, but on top of that another good 40 minutes before they decided to send them out. Lots of other dishes were leaving the kitchen and our appetite/ patience was going too. All above happened again with the waiter asking the other 2 tables in front of us if everything was ok with the food but skipping us, they didn't ask if we wanted a second drink or any dessert. We did not receive any apologies but clearly we were invisible to them. I would have said bad service but actually there was no service at all. My mum's birthday evening was spoiled as we didn't east till 9pm and probably I could have given a better impression to my mum if I was going to get a fish and chips take away.

We called in for a unplanned lunch. We got a warm welcome in the pub that was decorated for Christmas. My wife and I ordered off the lite bites for lunch. The food came in good time and we were asked if all was okay. My wife had fishcakes and I had gammon. Both were nicely presented and tasted lovely. We really enjoyed the food, served up in a nice atmosphere by a friendly and enthusiastic team. We really enjoyed it.

Old world Inn with accommodation. Very pleasant atmosphere and good friendly service. A varied menu with a separate book for dietary requirements. Nice wines. Have been there before and will go there again when in the area. To save disappointment book in advance especially for a large group.

Really disappointing Sunday Lunch, only option was pork belly. Booked a table through the app, confirmed by email but restaurant had no knowledge. Staff really couldn’t care whether you were there or not. Had to go up to bar to get drinks where the staff did their best to ignore you. Very average food. Won’t be going back. It’s a shame as the pub has nice interior and atmosphere generated by the customers.

Visited here recently to catch up a couple of old friends and the immediate welcome from the bar team was great. I was offered a table in the top bar as the restaurant was fully booked. We were having a casual get together so this suited us anyway. We ordered our food and drink from the bar which is fine, but we didn't feel forgotten at any point, the staff kept asking if we were ok, if we wanted desserts or more drinks. We left thinking about our next visit and definitely wont leave it as long to catch up next time!

I met some friends for lunch yesterday. Lovely idea to have dog treats on the bar! Service great and food good but it took nearly 45 minutes to appear - we were told it would be 20. So a bit disappointing as it wasnt that busy.

popped in for fish and chips , i should have gone down the fish and chip shop and ate in the car ! fish was very over cooked dry and cold in the middle and you could pick it up and pretend it was a hammer and knock in a nail with it , chips were cold and the peas were boiling hot ?? and the waitress that served the food definitely just finished a cigarette break as it was obvious ! cant stand smoke smells around eating food .

Highly recommend this pub/restaurant. 8 of us including a young child were made extremely welcome at a time when there was also a quiz night and the food and service were faultless. Between us we had starters including mushroom with goats cheese, duck spring rolls, calamari - empty plates all round. Then venison burgers, loin of venison, a lovely chicken dish, and choice of pizzas for the child. Everything cooked beautifully. I understand they now have an excellent team in the kitchen and we certainly can vouch for what we had. A great meal, and we are looking forward to returning.
