It was lovely to find this gem of a pub. I say gem because it is still a pub before anything else. The old bar area is wonderfully traditional with NO modern distractions, yet the restaurant area has been tastefully updated within an atmospheric setting. The food was excellent, and our real ales well kept. A beautiful garden and friendly, with-it management/staff topped everything off. Just one small caveat: prices are on the expensive side. However, if that's what it takes to be a model of how pubs can thrive in the modern world without losing their traditional charm and purpose, then so be it.

After parking up and having a wander around Hawkshead, the rain started up again so we decided to take shelter here until it cleared up. Staff were great - even when there was a mix up and order didn't get made. Once sorted, we were enjoyed a delicious coffee. Lovely place to enjoy a drink or a meal.

We had an overnight Stay in Kelsall whilst visiting friends. The hotel has recently been taken over and improved. The friendly Staff could not do enough for us. The Room was very clean and had character. Large en suite and a comfortable large bed. A lovely continental breakfast was delivered to our room. Great hospitality and we are returning in June!

Up there as one of my favourite restaurants in Manc. Great food, semi-regular rotating menu, amazing atmosphere, lovely staff / service. Incredibly well priced for the portion sizes too. Great place for a chill lunch or dinner - I recommend lunch in the sun at their outdoor seating area

6pm on a Saturday & the place had 11 customers, 9 just having coffee/tea. We stopped in for a snack. Staff were friendly enough. Fish finger butty, bowl of fries, a tea & a pint of brew dog. £27. The butty was the biggest disappointment. Thin white bread as if from a supermarket budget sliced loaf and over toasted. The 'fish fingers' were very dry & and overdone, like chewing on Gandhi's flip flop. Only 3 brew dog beers on tap, rest in bottles. Two, single toilets (one a baby changing area) which I think would be an issue if the place were near full. Food was overpriced & poor. Wasn't a good visit in summary.
