The Font in Manchester

Basque Chicken excellent as always. We always keep coming back for the food which is always on point. Been through the menu now and enjoyed everything. Staff are always dead friendly, a Chorlton institution for a reason. keep up the good work.

Great place for food and drinks. Came here a few times now. Evening mid week is quiet but good place for a drink. Came and had breakfast another day and very nice food. Seems cooked fresh which is great but obviously have to wait a bit, worth it for better food. Will be back for sure.

Very friendly staff lovely comfortable outdoor seating, food was excellent. We stopped for lunch on a bike ride it was a hot day and they brought lots of cool bottles of tap water to drink

Went in on Friday for a few pints as we haven’t been in for a while , seen they now sell beers such as “moretti” & “Amstel” so immediately ordered 2 , me and my mate both took a sip and looked at each other .. it was not moretti we drink it all over Manchester and uk and know what moretti tastes like. They are selling another cheap branded beer trying to pull it off as moretti . Not good guys . Please don’t do this to our / your community. when your gonna charge arm and a leg for a pint make sure it’s the real McCoy . Many thanks

Nope, it’s gone all generic, with cocktails starting from £7. Thankfully we visited during Happy Hour so got 2 for £10, but they had to be the same (it wasn’t that busy, though). Mine was meant to be a ‘Garden Party’, although I’m not sure how a thin slice of cucumber in a pale green liquid is meant to resemble this.

Arrived with 20 friends for a Saturday night out. It was empty when we arrived at 10:30. Although they played our song requests, Despite multiple requests they wouldn’t raise the volume louder than speaking level so you couldn’t hear it. Seems a shame they don’t want more of an atmosphere on the weekend: we were a big group but took our custom elsewhere. Pity as Chorlton has few places where you can dance.

Always fantastic and very tasty, come here all the time for the food offerings. Highly recommend. Fantastic value and nice size portion compared to other places.

Love it here - favourite local place to go for a quick beer, or a lazy Sunday brunch. Food is great and reasonably priced. Dog friendly and lots of space for the dog / kids. So many options for craft beers!

Went with my sister for an early lunch/ brunch and ordered the meat Meze. The idea of the food was great, loads of picky bits and a spicy chicken cooked in juices with chorizo, etc. Flatbreads were a great addition. Although after a couple of bites, I seemed to go through my drink quite quickly. It was extremely salty, even the wedges and the chicken. My only respite was the tomato ketchup, which I asked for, the sweetness seemed to counter act the salt. It didn't go completely to waste as my sister took some home for later. I only had a couple of wedges and a snall piece of chicken, so I unfortunately didn't get my money's worth. I will however compliment the non alcoholic cocktail(Calypso), which was superb, as drinks go, I would be back for that without a doubt, lovely friendly staff too.

25/04/24: North Brewing: Piñata mango & guava pale 4.5% 29/07/23: Squawk Brewery: Wild Berry sour 5% & Squawk Brewery: Mallard pale ale 4.5% 27/06/23: we had the Tiny Rebel: Clwb Tropicana, Red Willow: Headless and the Pomona Island: All in the Reflexes! 19/01/23: by pure fluke on our visit here again, I'm wearing the same jacket! I do have other, honest! This time we had the Verdant Brewery Penpol pale and a deliscious Red Willow Brewery Raspberry sour! 08/10/22: outstanding all round! Been here many times on Chorlton Ale Trails, however, not for some many years. Fantastic service, awesome selection of ales, welcoming staff, very dog friendly, spacious, cosy sofas and had a really relaxed vibe! High praise indeed for Font!

Didn’t rate this place at all. Reminded me of a grotty student pub. Staff were pretty aloof. Children everywhere making loads of noise. Beer selection was average. I’d give it one more chance but there are much better options in Chorlton from what I’ve seen.

Terrible service. Ordered a chili and pancetta and blue cheese toastie, a coke and cocktails. The cocktails came fast but we waited over half an hour for our food. They forgot to put the chilli through the till (we ordered through the app) and forgot the cheese on the toastie. They said it would take another half an hour for the chili so we had to leave it. Awful experience and over priced. Staff didn't seem bothered they messed up either. Cocktails were good though!

Great food, good beer selection and very friendly staff in relaxed environment. Will definitely come back!

Lovely place and gorgeous drinks. Be aware that the beers can be slightly on the pricy side but they are great quality. Atmosphere is OK but it's not the style for me and my family.

Kian is inexperienced and this can make him a bit judgmental. He's a nice guy, I got on with him for a while because he likes to be flamboant when he serves drinks doing bar flare but I could also see that he was a bit of a klutz with the washing. But I just think he's a bit immature. Lewis is prying and a bit off, seems prejudice I think he does quite fit in at the bar but needs to learn to relax a bit more and interact with people. I mean the main problem is that everyone who works there is immature. Used to be a regular in the day when it was quite quiet but wouldn't hang around there in the evenings.

Nice atmosphere and the food is excellent and great value. The chef adds those little touches that make a difference.

Nice bar, decent beers and good prices (during happy hour anyway 🙂). The food looked good although we didn't have any. Very child friendly.

Decided to tick off the Chorlton Good beer Guide 2023 pubs. Visited with Paulicarus on a pleasant autumnal Sunday. Been a few times and the large open plan bar serves three real ales. Decided on a New England IPA called Are You Dancing, 4.2% from Big Trip brewery. We sat on the front patio that seats about 30 on busy days.

Had a great little breakfast here. Cute little bar with outside space and a cosy area inside. Bacon was banging - really tasty. Sausage was good too. Staff were very nice and friendly. They make a great coffee! I had a caramel latte and it was delicious. Would deffo come back, only thing that wasn’t spot on was the potato hash - could’ve used a few more mins in the oven.

Great Food. Good prices made even better if you use the app to collect points and redeem for ££ off. Had the special chilli and the chicken main. Lovely food.

The most disgusting experience so far. Weve gone for brunch and waited for an hour. The orders came at different points so mine was cold when my friends got theirs. Our food was not what we ordered and we found a hair on toast, pen lid in our mushrooms and ended up with a horrible gastric pains. The manager issued a refund that I never got. I think there’s something seriously wrong with this place. The cook handled toast with bare hands, I saw him leaving it on the counter. Super unhygienic.

Great room reserved for a birthday gathering for 17 people including children. Very helpful staff and friendly atmosphere. Delicious food for everyone including vegetarians / gluten free. Enjoyed Happy Hour cocktails too! Many thanks.

Quite dear and gets pretty noisy but food and drink quality is superb.

Our group are regulars at the Tuesday quiz nights (now paused for summer) and often at least one of us will order food to the table, especially when coming straight from work. Since the recent change in food menu, I’ve ordered two sandwich options, the former being unpleasant but I didn’t want to make a fuss (this was the pork belly with apple and fennel slaw - the slaw smelled and tasted nail-varnishy and the only other ingredient beyond the bread was the pork belly slices) due to the company I was in and the fact the quiz was ongoing. In my opinion the sandwich options are not as good since the change but such is the financial situation for bars and restaurants at the moment. The flatbread pizzas still go down a treat though! The next week, I tried to order a different sandwich which was out of stock and therefore asked one of the bartenders what he’d recommend of the new stuff, mentioning that the week previous the slaw had been really not right. He pointed me in the direction of the artichoke, tomato and butterbean hummus sandwich (still served with wedges and a salad) and said “if you don’t like it, blame me!” Luckily, the sandwich was really bloody tasty and he brought our cocktails to the table for us, too. Service like this doesn’t go unnoticed and the little things are a big factor in our group keeping coming back. So shoutout to the FOH team and this guy in particular (brown hair and stubbly??) we appreciate u xx

LOVE it here - great prices on cocktails (even better during happy hour) and occasionally deals on their app. The Mezze board is immense - pork belly, chicken, super crispy + sweet roast potatoes and more 😍

Normal beer in here is regularly in excess of £8. Who thinks this is acceptable? How is it even sustainable for a bar to run with prices as wild as this?

just by chance we walked past the font. we were looking for somewhere to eat breakfast and what a treat we had dropping in here. the breakfast was english breakfast with a twist. hash browns were gorgeous not the greasy frozen ones but real potatoes roadted with chilli. the mushrooms were cooked with spinach and tasty stuff! perfect poached eggs smoked pancetta and wonderful tasty textured sausages. along with baked beans and lovely griddled sourdough toast with real butter. would highly recommend and will definitely be back soon. thank you the font!

The cocktails are nice but not a huge collection to choose from. Quite different to the one that was in Manchester Centre

Quiet, wonderful music selection kind of a gem spot. Usually go during the day so its a chill spot. Its seems like its a play date spot for young families which is fine staff is reserved but helpful. Place is warm and inviting quickly becoming my favorite place for a chill day drink

Nice relaxing bar. Staff are friendly. A choir was there last Sunday evening was very nice. Been before on a Sunday evening didn't enjoy the music. Good cocktail deal every day. I thunk 4 or 5 until 7pm 2-4-1.

Friendly staff and great food. They have an App to order from table (with a generous loyalty system) Lots of happy hour options. Popular quiz on Tuesday nights. Dogs welcome (water and treats provided). It's open from 10am (pls double check) and their breakfast/brunch is super. The best poached eggs in Manchester!

We usually go to The Font on weekends for a drink or food. The vegan food is always wonderful and it feels like home: good food, music and friendly staff...In particular there's Nicole who is always chatting and with a smile. Alice and Goncalo.

Visited late-morning for hot drinks and a few snacks for 15 conference visitors from Spain and Italy. Excellent service and food. The Italian guests commented on the quality and taste of the bruschetta - high praise! Thank you, and will definitely be visiting with family.

Great food; great beer. Only minor gripe is there is ice cream on the kids menu and they didn't have any.

Still very reliable. Best place to be for a breakfast and an early pint. Very good range of keg ales in particular, quick service, and it's always warm and smells great as the kitchen's upstairs. Can't really think of any major faults. There always seem to be staff in their off shift which can delay service and make waiting quite awkward, but little else to quibble about.

Never written a bad review on Trip Advisor before, but unfortunately this has to be the first. Went for brekkie with some friends, all ordered on the app. Four out of five meals turned up, one of which was wrong, but we decided to have it anyway. The fifth meal still hadn't arrived after about 20 minutes, so we asked the waiter, who said he would check, and confirmed that it was on its way. Another 20 minutes went by, still no meal. We asked again, and the waiter checked with the kitchen again. He came back, and told us that the chef was refusing to make the meal. He had forgotten to make it first time round, and now, as the kitchen was now closed, was refusing to make it. Our friend was offered a refund, which he obviously took. No further compensation was offered, and we left, with no further apologies either. With such a massive screw up, and a frankly terrible attitude from the chef, we would've expected much much more than this. We won't eat here again, which is a shame as we were regulars before.

Disappointing food. Not generous sized portions if you have a (un)healthy appetite. Several items were missing off an already small menu. Suspect it may be better for breakfast than lunch. Good range of beers. Consider it a bar that does some food rather than an eatery.

Went for the quiz last night, and it was brilliant. Also, fantastic staff, reasonably priced drinks, good atmosphere. Very enjoyable.

Went for lunch and had the house hash. Ridiculously tasty. Amazing value. Should be ten time busier on a Friday.

A real ale pub in all sense. Good availability and have meals too. Clear a spacious upstairs, but a few bar flies present which we're annoying. Toilets downstairs could be of a better standard, seem out of context with the rooms above. A little dingie.

Met up with work friends/colleagues for cocktails because we've not seen each other for a while due to the pandemic. It was more about the company than the venue tbh but The Fonts a great local venue in Chorlton with great food. We'd had brunch elsewhere for some unknown reason & one of my friends ordered some food which they enjoyed. Made our way through most of the cocktails before deciding to move on after a few hours. Service was great, the ambience was chilled as ever & social distancing was observed by patrons & staff. We've already decided the next time we meet up for brunch, we'll start at here because the food served whilst we were drinking looked & smelt AMAZING!!! If you've never been here before, add it to your list , it's a must. Enjoy! 😉

Hard to beat font if you're after bargain cocktails! A great choice far beyond the usual selection of other cocktail bars!

Hipster bar don't sell normal beers a bit steep in price but great atmosphere and really sound staff

Brilliant food and excellent service. Situated in a cool part of the city where you can forgive yourself for thinking you might be close to London's Camden Town when in fact you are only a short hop from Manchester City centre. Light, airy, cool interior and very well set out to meet Covid 19 stipulations. We tried the vegetarian sharing platter and (as two people who only been veggie for 10 days so far) were delighted at the range of flavours and wonderful combination of hot and cold food. I would kill for the recipe to the olive tapenade! Would definitely go again perhaps in the evening to allow chance for us to sample one (or many!) of the real ales on offer. A great experience.
