The Food Hall is a pleasant place to eat, good ambience, nice and bright and most tables well situated to enable conversation without impacting on neighbouring diners. Quality of service has continued to decline to the point at which - after more than five years of regular custom - we walked out and will not return. We arrived at 2 pm and the eating area was largely empty. We waited twenty minutes during which time not a single staff-member of staff acknowledged our arrival or spoke to us. We helped ourselves to menus after 5 minutes and were ready to order shortly after that. Few of the small number of customers present were being attended to and when we left, those that had arrived shortly after us were still waiting to be greeted let alone served. We appreciate that, post-pandemic, it is a struggle to find staff and price competitively however a 20-minute wait, without an apology or explanation, is unacceptable. We ditched the sister restaurant, The Emporium, after two similar experiences years ago.

The least lobster-y lobster roll imaginable. It’s outrageous that they’re charging £17.25 for essentially a vegetarian roll. Though they say it’s brioche on the menu, it’s literally the cheapest sugary white hotdog roll, with barely any lobster or crayfish in those little beads (not even balls) made primarily of flour. Would not recommend. Also, the waitress who brought our food was in such a bad mood…!!

Was super looking forward to eating here as the atmosphere was great and the cakes looked good however we asked to be served but was told to go and sit down and our order would be taken soon. We sat there for a good 15 minutes while all the waitresses walked around looking gaumless and no smile in sight. My little girl wanted a cake so we decided to go back up to the counter and ask for a cake in a take out bag so that we could just leave. Again the young girl that told us to sit down did not remember us and still proceeded to keep us waiting 5 minutes just for a cake. Eventually we got served - no sorry for your wait, thank you, good bye. Unbelievable staff!

A very good menu but food does not live up to what is printed. A burger was cold and when we she to back we were asked by we thought it was cold as we hadn’t taken a bite. We said it was when we had put our knife in the centre it came out cold. Reluctantly they changed it. The Buddha bowl was thrown together with lukewarm chicken and soggy butternut squash. The rice was dry and the bowl had no flavour. Most staff were pleasant until we question the temperature of the burger. Disappointed for the price of the meal

Absolutely terrible experience. We came for brunch and to do some shopping but we couldn’t wait to get out of the place. We got a few things for the chilled cabinet but that was about it. The music was beyond awful, I don‘t know who wants that on a Sunday morning and at such volume - certainly not the shoppers as there was none. There were diners but we couldn’t eat there, we just had to leave as soon as possible. Also, they’ve put a bunch of tables in amongst the deli so you’re almost on top of them when browsing 😂😂😂 Just bizarre and laughable. Not returning, it’s an awful place now. It was once a fave but not anymore. It shows, there used to be people browsing but now there are very few. One benefit is that since we didn’t eat there, we went and found The Emporium - great food, reasonably priced and an absolutely beautiful interior. And it had quiet music befitting of the place. Loved it.

First time visiting the cafe and safe to say I will not be rushing back. Visited with family - 2 adults and 2 children. Myself and one of the children had falafel - £6 for 4 falafel in a bowl with a few leaves was a rip off. Husband had the ploughman's which he enjoyed but again massively overpriced with tiny pieces of cheese and stale bread. My other daughter had a Scotch egg which turned out to be a black pudding scotch egg- something that should have been pointed out at the time of ordering, particularly as we were very clear we were ordering this for a child. Even had it not been black pudding, I would have expected it to be warm for the price that was charged. My husband has never complained before but he raised the standard of the food with the waitress when she came to collect the plates. She did apologise and took off the price of the scotch egg and offered us a choice of free drink. We would have cut our losses and left otherwise, but as one child was still hungry we got them cakes - the cakes were good. Even with the money taken off, I thought it was massively overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food received. It's also a Shame that they don't do a children's menu, this would be easy to do - we were told to go to the pub part of we wanted a children's menu, but would be nice if the cafe could offer something too as we hadn't wanted a big pub meal.

Very disappointed. We usually like it here, nice ambience, unusual market type items, nice people. We decided to have a late lunch. Got to say, you're taking the mick somewhat on your prices. My husband ordered the cheese sandwich. Yes, it said open, but come on, one slice of bread, a bit of cheese, pickle, and salad. £8.95. I called the waitress over and asked her how on earth they can call this a sandwich when there is only one slice of bread. She did bring over a 2nd slice and we were not charged. But we even had to order fries, £4.50 as are not included, where please do you get your prices. I ordered chicken Caesar salad as I had this before. Previously, came in a bowl, plenty of it, touch expensive but ok. This time, small pieces of chicken, few lettuce leaves, far too many croutons, which I did not eat and some bacon bits. £14.95, for what I got, this is extortionate. Seriously, Bowlands, you already overcharge on your market goods, e.g. Lonsdale cottage cheese, your price £2.50, Asda £1.50, how on earth do you get away with that? We do and have liked Bowlands for a while but we will definitely think again moving forward when visiting Clitheroe.

We asked our waitress for our bill and she kindly brought it over as we were paying another waitress charged over and proceeded to shout and our waitress demanding she stop what she was doing and go back to the kitchen and not take the payment. We were a little taken back by this as was our waitress. The manner in which this was done was very unprofessional and quite intimidating. I believe other tables around us saw this too and were equally as shocked as us. I hope management have dealt with the issue.

Took my family for the first time as they had never been before me being a regular customer (4 adults 2 small children and a baby) we decided to stay for lunch in the food hall but as there was nothing on the menu for the children decided to get them a pork pie from the counter while 4 adults chose our food and we had ordered everyone drinks. Just as the children took a bite from the pork pie an older woman came from the counter shouting at us for letting the children eat the pork pies. Her manner was so rude and everyone stared at us. She undoubtedly scared the children and made such a seen. As there was no signs saying you couldn’t consume food bought from the counter we didn’t know they couldn’t have it however as 4 adults was about to order 4 meals including drinks for everyone and didn’t think for second would be an issue. As the woman chose to bellow at us the price is different in front of everyone and if there were to allow it for us would have to do it for everyone. It was not only embarrassing but very upsetting. We chose not order food and pay for our drinks and leave. Another member of staff was very nice to us and apologised for the other member of staff. We understand now there is a difference which we appreciate however I will not be spending any more of my money in this establishment again nor will I recommend it to another again. I believe her name was Alison that felt the need to shout at two children for eating pies bought from the same company and establishment and embarrass paying customers. I spend a lot of money here on a regular basis but never again will I do so.

Great overnight stay at the white bull. The boutique room we booked was really comfortable and clean and boutique style! The pub is friendly and the breakfast was excellent quality and great value for money. Friendly and welcoming staff, the team member at breakfast was very friendly and welcoming. The location is great as it asits between the historic towns of Skipton and Clitheroe and the pub itself is in a stunning countryside setting. Definitely be returning.

Fantastic, delicious food. A little expensive though, but worth every penny.

Very sad day Heard that after 8 years Cafe Autisan is closing permanently. Have had many nice meals there. staff have always been lovely.
