Bowland Food Hall in Ribble Valley

Visited on Sat 15th March for lunch. The staff waiting at tables were friendly on arrival. Part of our order didn't arrive despite us asking two different staff members to chase it up. We weren't that bothered. It was only fries. We returned later after, shopping, for coffee & cake. This time, when our order was brought out, one of our cakes was missing. When we mentioned it, we were told "You mustn't have ordered it (we did) You'll have to go to the counter and order it again" There was a long queue at this point which would mean our coffee going cold so we didn't. Nice place. Some customer service training might be needed.

Amazing breakfast barm. Extremely tasty and fresh. Great service. Had two different coffees and both were disappointing. Apart from that . Definitely recommend.

Had high hopes when I sat down to eat as the ambience was something a bit different , as was the menu choices. Ordered the Buddha bowl with grilled chicken which was mixed salad with a small piece of chicken on top. Salad was fresh and varied and quite light but the chicken was like a piece of rubber which made it impossible to cut on top of the salad. Service was also a bit hit and miss as we were asked if we’d like to order 3 times. Better than not at all I suppose but it did highlight that someone ought to get a handle on how the place is organised and to make sure the food fits with the surroundings and the prices being charged.

Got through the door and was looking forward to buying a variety of goods but was asked to leave as we had a dog! Really? Need to get into your customer base!

Waited 15 mins to get served eventually ordered at the counter… waiting staff needs a refresher course, no apologies from counter staff member for my inconvenience.

Well worth going for lunch. Lots of interesting things on the menu, set in the food hall.

First time eating there and I won’t be going back! We weren’t acknowledged until 20mins in which we seated ourselves and got our own menus. Saw other customers go up to the counter to place orders and told to sit down and wait. Miserable staff dawdling about. Ordered food and drinks together as couldn’t bare to wait any longer for them to return. Drinks turned up after we finished the food! When we told the waitress it was a bit she excused it for them being so busy - not the customer’s fault I’m afraid! Ordered a cheese sandwich and was missing a piece of bread - there was no mention of it being a stupid pretentious open sandwich. When we paid, they said tap your card and they walked off!!! Overpriced and disgusting attitudes, please don’t waste your money!

Great eating experience. Lots of choice. Large and small plates. Reasonably priced. Very friendly service. Lots of delicious wines to choose from as well as soft drinks. The desserts choice is very tempting. I would definitely visit again.

When are they going to get enough staff; trained staff, to actually take orders from people waiting at the tables? The last couple of times I have been in, the service has been awful. I walked out today. There is a limit to how long you can sit waiting for someone to take your order. It has been very erratic in the past few years. Turnover if staff is horrendous amd there seems to be no common sense anymore.

Had a meeting at Bowland Food Hall today, and it was fantastic! The food was amazing, and I had the best mocha I’ve ever tasted! The vibe is great—it’s the perfect spot to meet customers or have private meetings with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and really added to the experience. Highly recommend!

Excellent place to browse for tasty food

We have eaten here many times before & have always been very pleased with the choices we have made. Sadly that was not the case on this occasion we chose a steak sandwich which was over priced for the quantity of filling. We paid ,£35 for 2 steak sandwiches/ 2 hot drinks. When we next visit Clitheroe we will look for an alternative place to lunch

Lovely venue and enjoyed looking around but I wouldn't shop here as everything was over priced compared to most other local shops. Disappointed with the fresh meat counter as they had very little selection compared to my local butcher.

Called in for lunch before going to the cinema, we shared the ploughman’s plate and a portion of fries. A nice cold beer and a glass of wine. Very tasty.

Great place to browse around with an extensive and well presented selection of quality food and gifts. Cafe tables are dotted around throughout the shop and there is a good choice of drinks, cakes and lunchtime snacks. A very pleasant place to enjoy lunch and escape from the rain.

Fab place. You can buy loads of different products. Eat there its a fab place.

Retail property still keeping some of the old workings of the brewery. These can be seen in the Brewery Bar/Restaurant. To the side of this is a food hall, great for those individual items that are not normally available in supermakets. You can buy the beer in the food hall that is still made on site.

Lovely fresh fruit scones, still warm from the oven this morning.

Food wasn't as good last visit, also asked for oil and vinegar was only brought vinegar.

It's nice and lots going on in the food hall, very pricey though!

Not as good as pre covid, but certainly we'll worth a visit, friendly atmosphere and staff, good products, and we always make it a family day out , with a meal, drinks and a vist to everyman. Fully recommend.

Just be careful that you don't spend a few thousand pounds here. It's so tempting!

Been here many times, the food is getting worse. Goats cheese and beetroot bagel. It was terrible. Nearly £10 for that with a pile of salad leaves. Totally overpriced. Advice to visitors to clitheroe, go elsewhere. Maxwells, the coffee exchange, many places better

Plenty of unusual products unavailable elsewhere in the area. Nice coffee bar and quick meals.

Great food hall selling various wares pies cheeses wins and beer nice food area for you to try things on sale bar area next door is spacious and well kept with good beers if your in Clitheroe its definitely worth a visit

Scammed. We parked here with a disabled person using a blue badge. We stayed for three and a half hours, eating in the beer hall and shopping in the food hall. Two weeks later we received a parking ticket for almost £100, stating that the car park has a three hour parking limit. We did not noticed the signs at the time stating this! The signs are purposely hard to spot to scam people. I spent a large amount of money already at Bowland Beer Hall and they see it fit to scam me from another £100 for using their services! Bowland - you owe me money. Please contact me asap to refund the money you owe me for your parking scam. Otherwise I will never spend another penny at your establishment again and I will advise everyone to do the same.

I love the French trimmed chicken breast and the pork sausage from the butchers, the butcher is very friendly and always remembers what i order, I take a trip over each month and pop in to the pub for a cheeky glass of wine after doing my food shop.

Very busy shop/cafe - lots to see and choose from. Excellent choice of meat from the butchers and an amazing choice of cheeses. The beer hall is great with a varied selection of beers to choose from. Breakfast in the food hall was great. Part of Clitheroe food festival so extremely busy.

Great place to shop and chill lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. Limited parking though. But 3 hours free is good .

Lunch for two, large portions and very tasty.

Needs management attention, left to go to pot. We used to go frequently, now just go to see if it's improved, waste of time, poor value.

Came here for some food after a long day travelling from London to Clitheroe. I’m gluten free and vegan and was happily surprised by the amount of options they had! Had a lovely vegan gf caprese salad open sandwich with side salad, and ordered the crispy falafels and chilli sauce as a side. Very tasty, lovely venue, would highly recommend!

Nice place with its own brewery. Great food, but get there early because parking spaces are limited.

Just had the best tuna salad ... the tuna steak was cooked perfect. Love the atmosphere here also.

I ordered the falafel burger. Extremely dry in fact I had to order another hot drink to swallow it. Left half and the fries were equally dry as a bone. I didn’t want to pay for the meal but she said I had to. I love this place but will definitely not be ordering food again.

Great shop and cafe local produced food and drinks and also from further afield. Really good quality 👌 A little on the expensive side but as a one off visit it was worth it. Bought some beers sausages etc Parking is free for 3 hours which is ample time to visit the beer hall cafe and do a little shop.

The Food Hall is a pleasant place to eat, good ambience, nice and bright and most tables well situated to enable conversation without impacting on neighbouring diners. The food is ok, but perhaps overpriced for what you get. Service is good with all staff being friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, but we had quite a wait for the food.

Beer is over priced, over £8 for a pint and half of Bowland Pilsner. Brewed "on site", no transport costs, etc. 660ml bottles are £3.50 in shop, but are £2.65 at Booths Settle....go figure.

Well worth a visit, posh but at a posh price.

Quality of service has continued to decline to the point at which - after more than five years of regular custom - we walked out and will not return. We arrived at 2 pm and the eating area was largely empty. We waited twenty minutes during which time not a single staff-member of staff acknowledged our arrival or spoke to us. We helped ourselves to menus after 5 minutes and were ready to order shortly after that. Few of the small number of customers present were being attended to and when we left, those that had arrived shortly after us were still waiting to be greeted let alone served. We appreciate that, post-pandemic, it is a struggle to find staff and price competitively however a 20-minute wait, without an apology or explanation, is unacceptable. We ditched the sister restaurant, The Emporium, after two similar experiences years ago.

First time in here... beautifully done inside with gorgeous foods and alcoholic beverages on sale on the shop side. Cafe was lovely, coffee, sausage sarnie and scone was wonderful, we will definitely be visiting here again in the near future.

The least lobster-y lobster roll imaginable. It’s outrageous that they’re charging £17.25 for essentially a vegetarian roll. Though they say it’s brioche on the menu, it’s literally the cheapest sugary white hotdog roll, with barely any lobster or crayfish in those little beads (not even balls) made primarily of flour. Would not recommend. Also, the waitress who brought our food was in such a bad mood…!!

Stumbled upon this wonderful bar in Clitheroe. Amazing selection of draught beers!

Had a beer 🍺 and coffee outside Then bought various cheeses and Bowland beers from the Food Hall Great choice of deli food and you can eat in or outside.

With its architecture a new (well recent) fooderies and good shopping, a polite welcome and splendid food market and a different approach to retail awaits you. A fine outlet set in the charming shadows of Clitheroe castle. With Clitheroe being a mere hop skip and a jump away, how could you not pay it a visit. With ample parking at the venue and more on the streets in town and locally it's a must visit.

I always enjoy stopping off here. Good atmosphere, nice staff, quirky place.

Was super looking forward to eating here as the atmosphere was great and the cakes looked good however we asked to be served but was told to go and sit down and our order would be taken soon. We sat there for a good 15 minutes while all the waitresses walked around looking gaumless and no smile in sight. My little girl wanted a cake so we decided to go back up to the counter and ask for a cake in a take out bag so that we could just leave. Again the young girl that told us to sit down did not remember us and still proceeded to keep us waiting 5 minutes just for a cake. Eventually we got served - no sorry for your wait, thank you, good bye. Unbelievable staff!

A very good menu but food does not live up to what is printed. A burger was cold and when we she to back we were asked by we thought it was cold as we hadn’t taken a bite. We said it was when we had put our knife in the centre it came out cold. Reluctantly they changed it. The Buddha bowl was thrown together with lukewarm chicken and soggy butternut squash. The rice was dry and the bowl had no flavour. Most staff were pleasant until we question the temperature of the burger. Disappointed for the price of the meal

Lovely easy going food hall with lots of different foods, kitchen wear and alcohol to ponder on buying whilst eating a tasty lunch. It reminded me of a fabulous food hall we visited in Boston U.S. a few years ago. Friendly staff and a really good cappuccino. Worth dropping in, even if you don't want to eat there you can buy a treat or two.

One of the first places we visit after getting to the town. An open airy place to have a look at good quality foods . Might even stop for something for lunch and a beer.

The place is very pleasant. The food arrived quickly. It was quite average. I had a bit. The sun dried tomatoes overpowered the taste. As did the mustard. Stick to the basic classic!

Big produce hall. Lots of space to eat. Loads of lovely things to eat. You can spend a good hour in here just looking round! The food counters look ace, cheese looks fab. Pies mmmm. Recently went back for a meal. Spent £60 for 2 people. Very tasty. Nice coffee and pocessco.

Brilliant service and great range of products

Eaten here a couple of times,not great. Complained about my breakfast last week, wasn't very warm, and all the waitress could say was, oh!!

Food took 3 hours to come!!!🥶🥶 child burn his hand on the OPEN candle. The forks were NOT edible and I cut my mouth 🤧🤧 the food was raw and had WORMS in it 🪱🐛🐛🤢🤮 100% would come back again 😍🤩🥰

I really enjoy visiting the Food Hall, There's always a great atmosphere. There's lots of choice and all good quality. You can always find something a bit different, especially for Christmas.

Fantastic produce. Knowledgable staff and fantastic information provided to me on the cheese and meat counter. However, the only negative would have to be the poor customer service from the older lady serving on the till. The whole process seemed laboured, not welcoming, or any warmth. Just scan, put the items on the side for me to bag and put the receipt on the counter, despite my hello and thank you.
