Got a couple of drinks in a very nice country pub. Trappers Hat beer was exceptional served by friendly staff. Will likely return for the Toasties which look delicious...

Lovely meal in lovely surroundings with family, great friendly service.

Fantastic food and service. Good selection on the menu with a number of specials to consider as well. All of the group I was with were very happy with their selection and the amount of food served.

Wanted to go to a decent independent pub that served food rather than a chain like Green King etc. Went to a table followed by a waitress who gave us menus and took drinks order. When she came back with drinks we ordered food, my wife went for corn beef hash cake and I ordered a Full House (bacon, black pudding and tomato on toast). The hash cake was like baby food in batter and the 'home made' brown sauce was disgusting, my sandwich was quite bland and the toasted bread was limp. The overall impression of the pub was gloomy, will not be going back. Wish we had gone to a Green King!

Not only is the Wheatsheaf (The Thatch to locals) a beautiful pub with a great menu. They also manage to make the best Espresso Martini’s. Insider tip. Try the Rumtini version. It’s epic. Definitely worth the trip.

This is a beautiful, quaint old pub, but with a converted cowshed, so plenty of space for large groups. I booked lunch for 20 people for my dad’s 75th birthday, and it was fantastic. All the staff were absolutely wonderful at looking after our party, service was perfect and the food was absolutely delicious. We’ll be back!

First visit to eat. Unfortunately my burger was a bit burnt round the edges, managed to cut it away and eat the rest. What I had was tasty. This was mentioned to our waiter and he apologised. My husband's bean chilli was fine. Generally quite expensive but it seems all pubs are bringing their food prices in line with restaurants these days. The jury is out as to whether we'll visit again as there is plenty of choice on the wirral.

Holiday recovery tea to restore and replenish. Tremendous steak pie accompanied with gravy,mushy peas and chips. Piping hot, just what the traveler needed. Cheeky scampi and fries as other main, fabulous value for money as always and cooked to perfection. Wonderful service by Katrina as usual, is there anyone as good? Managed by Ben who runs the whole operation flawlessly, even with new staff and many covers. "Yes darling", great to be home.

Nice food. Good mix of traditional an new interior.. was just a bit disappointed that there's a 10% service charge on food that your not informed about . I had told the staff to keep the change an then when I realised the prices hadn't added up, an I questioned the bill, I was told that will be the service charge.. i tip staff. But I'd have liked to be informed before hand. Still had a lovely toastys , plenty to chose from

My dad booked a table for us all on a very sunny Sunday. We always love to come to The Thatch. The food was stunning as always. The service was incredible, nothing was too much for them at all. They were all so lovely to my little girl even when she was getting tired. The atmosphere is always great there.. Cannot wait to come back. What a beautiful place in a lovely little nook!! Thankyou again!

Always a nice place for a relaxing meet over a pint or two . Your typical old country pub with oak beams etc . I don't eat here too often , but when I do the food is always top notch .. including the sandwiches . Nice yard area and beer garden . Very quiet and peaceful through the week when everyone else is at work Just the way I like it ! 👍

Called in by chance mid week, enjoyed the meal so much we booked again for Saturday evening. Only criticism was the starter was cool in the middle and the new potatoes were cold with the main. Having said this, a good find will be back.

Excellent Sunday dinner, highly recommend

You would never know it's there as it hides in a little lane off Raby Mere Rd. But it's well worth finding. It's a lovely old thatched house that was built in 1611 according to the brick over the doorway. The interior looks very original and can't have changed much since it was built. There's a big old fireplace that's great in the Winter. Good selection of beers and real ales. Service was very good and quick.

I called here yesterday with my friend for lunch. Staff were very helpful however I was very disappointed with my meal. I ordered roast chicken skinny fries and coleslaw. I asked if I could have mashed potato instead and advised this would be no problem. When my meal arrived it need gravy which I asked for, this meal cost £13.50 ish or do I thought . I settled the bill after payment I realised I’d been charged £2.90 for gravy !! Disappointing not sure I would go again for this type of food as it was quite expensive for what I got.

Food and choice is excellent however a 10% service charge is added. Personally I don't think this is the correct approach. Most places ask if you would like to add a tip which means the value of that tip is your choice.

Another lovely meal and drinks today. Staff very attentive. Great to see the pub busy on a Wednesday lunchtime. Highly recommended. Will be going back soon.

This is a beautiful thatched pub that has been there since 1611. The service and food are really good, and they always have a good selection of real ales as well as other beers/lagers. Dogs are welcome too.

We moved to the area in late 2023 and have been back here loads already. We really like the selection of beers, the food is excellent and the service is spot on. It’s such a beautiful place and has a great atmosphere. We even went to their monthly quiz and had a great time. It’s a cracking local to have.

Popped in here purely on spec and was thoroughly impressed. The service was so friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was great and very welcoming. We had the lamb scotch egg / fig & parma ham to start and then we both had the Xmas turkey dinner and split an apple and strawberry crumble for dessert. The food was plentiful and delicious and good value. Should we find ourselves back in the area, we'd come back in a heartbeat!

First vist 15th December 2023. Undoubtedly one of the best dining experiences I've had anywhere and I've been to many . An exciting menu, excellent beer and exemplary service from lovely staff. The pub and cowshed are delightful . A total treat not to be missed. What a gem.

It's a quirky little place where they've converted a cow shed ( we were in the adjoining restaurant not the pub) The food was pretty good and service was attentive. Its quite hard to find especially in the dark!

Lovely country pub. Relatively small although it extends out into multiple rooms through to a more restaurant type space at the back. Food was good, beef Sunday roast especially was generous and well cooked (although came with steamed/boiled veg).

Had a lovely vegan nut roast and fruit crumble pudding. Husband had a tasty beef burger and nephew had a bbq vegan burger followed by chocolate brownie. All very enjoyable! Dog friendly the dog enjoyed his sausage dinner!

Lovely dining space in the cowshed but wasn't impressed at all with the quality or effort that went into the Sunday roasts. Beef was mostly fat and turkey served without usual trimmings. Also got overcharged by about a tenner.

A lovely little pub. We went to a reception here. Food was great and staff very good and attentive.

Staff as ever were lovely however food ordered by the group was tepid. One person in the group asked for her food to be heated up. Staff responded so well and apologised and rectified. However we felt uncomfortable complaining about other items also being tepid in temperature.

Great food lovely helpful staff food was scummy. I will be back.

A nice country pub with a welcome atmosphere and good food.

All I can say is absolutely amazing, we went a couple of months ago and thought it may have been a fluke that it was so nice but nope, it wasn't. We went again last week, gorgeous hot food, large portions and so fresh and tasty. We plan to go back again this week... this place will certainly not be helpful to my diet haha. Best pub on the Wirral by a country mile. If you’re after character and a ‘traditional’ pub experience whilst in the Wirral this is your best bet.

Customer service is fantastic. Friendly, polite, welcoming restaurant staff.

Stopped off here after a dog walk for a drink. Service was very prompt and attentive to us, but also, our dog, getting him a bowl of water straight away. A proper country pub, no tv's here, and proper real ales.

Very dissapointed indeed that I want to reserve a table outside for my family birthday and bring our family doggie...only to he told no ...the gentleman said its highly unusual not to get a table but why is not possible to be able then to save one so we are able to be assured our birthday celebration goes with no problems ...being in the catering business for many years I find this extremely odd .. .customer service is the most important factor of trying to help your customers as much as possible but this pub obviously doesn't need customers or willing to accommodate 10 members of our family who would have enjoyed such a lovely place .I'm sure another pub will greet us with the respect needed for our special occasion and be happy to receive our custom.

A perfect pub lunch on a sunny afternoon in a beer garden. If you want good portion size... This is the place to come! I highly recommend the steak and onion marmalade ciabatta!

What an absolute GEM of a find this was. Everything a country pub should be. Homely, cosy, warm and friendly staff. And food is TOP knotch. Ive been twice in less than two weeks. I had the paté for starters the second time and that was soooo delicious..and the Chicken Supreme is to die for too.. if i could give 10 stars i would...

Historic beautiful pub,with the most obnoxious arrogant manager Food mediocre Head to the The Red fox ,which has the best atmosphere and beautiful food.

Prawn cocktail served on a plate (I think the word "cocktail" should tell them it should be in a glass!) Lettuce was not chopped, no slice of lemon and no tomato. Also they had put pepper/spice on the prawns!. Roast dinner (this was a Sunday) only meats available where beef (very chewy ) and lamb (we were there quite early so it wasn't that they had run out of turkey/chicken). Every thing was piled up in the middle of the plate and looked a mess. Used to love going there but won't be going anymore. Will be going to the Boathouse Parkgate from now on, about the same price but much better food and excellent service.

Poor management by manager upvoting his performance skills and deleting user's rights to make a view disgusting behavior towords customers and disabled people calling their home and opening their wallet if left behind and poor services like food thats cold and floor is wet from cleaning toilets swearing at customer across the bar deleted review by his hacker.

Was more like a dog boarding kennels than a pub... Dog's everywhere, fighting in front of the bar...laid on seats..... Only had 1 drink.. needed to get out and find somewhere I could breath.
