Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.

Popped in for a single pint and a game of pool, was a little empty for a Friday evening (around 8pm), fantastic for us though as we had the pool table to ourselves 🤗

We chose this pub because of the high number of 5* reviews. Sadly it failed to live up to our expectations with regard to the food. It is atmospheric for sure and the lovely fire was welcome on quite a chilly day. The staff were friendly and welcoming which was nice. Two of our party had meals which were ‘ok’ albeit a little small. The other two did not enjoy their food very much at all and the final one was not too impressed with a pie which only consisted of a pastry top. Pie in our neck of the woods have bottoms and sides too! Our main worry was the fish pie, it smelt strong and tasted strange. We had split this between two of us and both felt dubious about eating it. We don’t like making a fuss but did mention this when our food was cleared. The waitress (who had served us well and was very pleasant) said that she would let the kitchen know. Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen but we left feeling disappointed.

Brilliant Sunday roast. We opted for the 2 people sharing option with the fillet steak which was all very tasty and cooked brilliantly. Plenty of extra gravy if required and were made to feel very welcome from the outset of our visit. Would recommend and will definitely return when back in the area!

Overall the food was excellent but my broccoli was cold and soggy, and I had far too many potatoes with my steak. It felt like the potatoes were a space filler. Everyone else's food was excellent though. There's never really much atmosphere in Amis , which is a shame; given that the food is so good. Our main reason for sorting the service so low is the fact we had to pre-order our food days in advance, yet had to wait an hour and twenty minutes for our mains. Never a big fan of pre-ordering food. It takes away any spontaneity and makes it feel like a Xmas dinner set menu, which I could understand if the Tayside was packed full, or we'd had an exceptionally large party but at the time the 8 of us booked for, there were more empty tables than full ones, and what added insult to our experience was the fact the owner tried to blame us for ordering 2 intros ( a bowl of prawn crackers and a small plate of finger sausages) as to the reason we had to wait so long for our mains. In summary: Really good food overall but not the best dining " experience " .

Had lunch yesterday with my brrother and my son. Staff were attentive but not smothering, amd all so.frienfdly. Lady manager made time to chat and was so nice. Food was really good, couldn't fault it. Portions were generous and I will definitely go back even though it's not nearby. They get an awful lot right!

Popped in for a quick dinner when we were in town walking the Thames path. Lovely ambience, very nice food, lovely friendly staff. (Didn't see the cat we'd seen on the website though so a little disappointed there lol). I had the burger and wife had the chicken schnitzel which was MASSIVE. Their chips were epic. Anyway glad we decided to check it out - v impressed. Keep it up.

The New York Deli used to be an amazing place to eat with the flavours of their food packing a real punch all wrapped up in an amazing store with equally amazing staff, ate there today and found myself deeply dissatisfied with the atmosphere of the place but especially the food which I found bland and tasteless and not a patch on the food they used to serve. Would 100% not advise wasting your money there
