We always come here for dinner when I'm down visiting my friend. Usually the service is very good, a bit slow but on the whole ok. Well I'm not sure who he is but the man behind the bar this evening was down right rude. No customer service skills what so ever. Now I know the landlady can be abrupt at times, but taking this guy on is a recipe for disaster. Get him gone. Description, beard and glasses, scruffy looking.

Two years ago we had a fantastic Christmas Day lunch at The Sutton Arms so we were keen to book again for Christmas Day 2024. What a difference and very disappointing. The canapés on the table looked as if they had been there for a fortnight and tasted the same. I ordered vodka and tomato juice. Ten minutes later we were told no tomato juice so I ordered a sherry. 15 minutes later we asked if our drinks were coming….and waited another 15 before they eventually arrived. The staff were unsmiling and the atmosphere generally was unfestive. My husband’s meal was good enough but I ordered beef and the meat was tough and cut in really thick slices. I was not asked if I needed any horseradish sauce. In fact our table was in the corner and not one staff member came to ask if we needed anything or were happy with our meals, though there were plenty of staff. I would describe the food as ordinary and that’s being kind. For the cost of £170 for two people a very overpriced and unpleasant experience. We won’t be booking next year.

Lovely old pub atmosphere. Felt so comfortable there. Only stopped for drinks but service was great.

Reservamos una mesa para 20 de nosotros hoy. Nos hicieron sentir importantes con un servicio A 1 de Kerry y Joe. Y la comida estaba caliente y deliciosa y eso requiere algo de hacer para mantener a 20 personas felices! Sin duda recomendaría una visita.

So many things now wrong with this cafe .Menu extensive but in no way enticing or different Have had better soup out of a tin . Sandwiches very very basic .Don’t go here and expect something special. Go to the bakery next door instead

The large serving of genuinely homemade broccoli and pea soup was really excellent and accompanied by delicious granary bread.Service bright and efficient.

Found this place near the Roman Baths, we really enjoyed it, the food was good, the service was good and the price was reasonable.

Past in by when I wanted a snack for lunch. There was a small queue but quickly went. Three sausage rolls were ordered and all three of us said they weren’t great. They were cold and we got ones warmed up in the microwave because we wanted them hot. The tray bake selection however looked good, never tried it though.

An extra special Valentines treat for us both. What an amazing place to eat, drink and relax. Although off the beaten track for some, The Half Moon Kirdford is worthy of a visit for those looking for an exceptional food experience. Louise and Gavin are the perfect couple as front of house and head chef and along with their team, make everyone visiting feel extra special. Congratulations to you all.

Disappointing Gluten-Free Experience – Beware If You Need GFO! I visited specifically because they advertised “GFO” (gluten-free options), but unfortunately, that was misleading. I ordered the Beef Sunday roast, and instead of offering substitutions, they simply took away key components, leaving me with a sad, incomplete meal that was overpriced for what I actually received. No effort was made to accommodate dietary needs and no reduction on the food bill. If you truly need gluten-free options, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. It’s frustrating when restaurants claim to offer something they clearly don’t.

Came for a family meal for the first time and was made to feel welcome by the staff kara was especially helpful with my fussy eating child nothing was too much trouble she was kind and helpful

Lovely vintage kinda cafe which offers you a decent tea with homemade cakes right in the middle of town centre. Friendly staff and good service. Atmosphere goes with this lovely colourful townEven they took lil extra time but i enjoyed my tea. Only back point is its CASH only place. Thanks God i had some cash in pocket but not everyone carry now a days.

Really fun night out with friends for a belated 50th. Great vibe, decent food and well looked after by the lovely Lola. Would definitely recommend for a different night out so long as you don’t want a chat!!!

I can not express my appreciation enough for the service that we received on Thursday here at the Red Lion. I came with my sister and 85 year old mum, who is partially sighted and not the most confident of people when she’s out. But she and us were made to feel incredibly welcome, nothing was to much trouble, we were waited on hand and foot, in fact the barman even remembered what mum and I had last time. I had the breakfast, my sister had a cheese melt and mum had a small portion of chips and fish fingers.And they even brought a separate plate with a couple of strips of bacon for Elvis, yes, Elvis the Chahauhau. The food was fabulous, the environment was comfortable and warm, thanks to the open fire next to us. Mum, who is not the most stable and can’t come out without her pet push chair with Elvis in has so ice been in on her own, she called on for a coffee a while on her morning walk to the shop. That might not seem much to most, but for my mum, that’s a massive achievement and the staff were fabulous with her, made her feel incredibly at ease. She now feels confident that she can call in on her own, it’s given her something to look forward too, and that’s thanks to the Staff and management at the Lion.
