Not a good experience this time. Painfully slow service and the wild mushroom vegan main dish was a plie of tasteless slop. When asked what we thought of the food we gave a truthful answer but they clearly didn't want to hear it. Well, nobody else has ever complained about it, was their answer. We've been to the Anchor many times before and, to be fair, this was the first VERY poor experience there.

When I arrived at the Angel for lunch today I was prepared an indifferent meal, served by unmotivated staff. I was surprised and happy to find an enormous change since my last few visits. My sea bass was beautifully cooked and complemented by the sauce and green beans that came with it. There has also been a change in the staff: they now seemed happy, energetic and anxious that we should enjoy our meal. This is a delightful change of mood, pace and attitude, and I shall be very happy to eat there again.

We booked the restaurant for a celebratory Sunday lunch for my husband's 75th birthday. In total, 30 of our family and friends joined us for an excellent 3-course meal. We were very impressed that everyone was able to choose individually from the menu (a few days in advance). All the food was of excellent quality, well-cooked and presented, and sizeable portions. From apéritifs and canapés all the way through to tea and coffee, the service was impeccable - discreet, friendly and efficient. And the final bill was extremely reasonable.

My Husband and I had booked a long weekend away at a local lodge, we had arrived in the area early and decided to park the car and have a wonder through the High Street. It was roughly 2pm and decided to find somewhere for lunch. There was a wedding going on next door and lots of people around. We decided to call in and take a chance. The lady that served us have a very friendly welcome at the door and showed us to a table down a few steps. We ordered the pork belly and fish and chips, plus 2 drinks, the drinks were delivered very quickly as was the food. It was fresh and hot. Myself and my Husband manage a pub and would like to compliment all of your hard working Team. We hope to visit again when we are able to take some time off.

We had a 3 night break here with Secret Escapes and really enjoyed ourselves. Nathan was very helpful when we had to change our dates twice due to illness. The quality and presentation of the food is excellent. Gluten free was not a problem. Our room was at the back of the hotel which is away from the street and perfectly quiet. It was enjoyable to sit on the bench at the riverside and watch the ducks on the water. A lovely little town with plenty of teashops. Interesting visit to the Abbey. Also short drive away is National Trust Croome Court which we also visited during our stay.

I visited today with my wife & dog. All the members of staff were absolutely charming & very helpful. We were sat in a beautiful alcove on 2 wing-back chairs & enjoyed the ambience as the place gradually filled up. My wife had a Thai chicken curry (about £14) & I had blades of beef with mash & roasted vegetables (£17?). Both meals were beautifully cooked & the portions were so generous we could even think about a dessert! They recommended a Spanish beer called Cruz Campo which was delicious. We have been in before for coffee but we will be back for another meal & will be bringing friends. A great experience!

We had our son visiting and had been recommended the restaurant at The Angel Hotel for dinner. Have to say that the whole experience and majority of the food was very good, however my son ordered the most expensive steak meal and that was very disappointing. It was small with every little vegetables etc and did not represent good value for money. Spoilt a nice evening really.

Really impressed by the warm welcome from the friendly and professional staff. On a busy lunchtime, we were looked after from the moment we stepped in through the door. Many lovely sounding dishes to choose from, but we went for the steak ciabatta and the sausage ciabatta because the restaurant prides itself on its meat dishes. Delicious and beautifully presented. Wye Valley HPA on draught was the perfect accompaniment to our sandwiches. Will definitely return

The food was truly delicious. We both had the fish and chips for dinner and really enjoyed it. The chips were some of the best I've had! For breakfast we had a full English and a sausage bap. Before reviewing The Angel I read several negative reviews. Those reviews did not coincide with my experience when I went for lunch today. I came with my partner for a quick lunch. I have been coming to The Angel on and off since 1970 when I moved in to the area. I have never had a bad experience here. Obviously some experiences have been better than others but as far as I am concerned The Angel is a safe pair of hands. Sometimes parking in Pershore can be difficult but this hotel has its own car park which is useful. The hotel is well presented and has an attractive outside seating area. The hotel is full of history and was a coaching inn and that past makes it attractive to visit. We were in a hurry and only had forty five minutes to spare. We asked our server if lunch could be delivered in that time and were assured that it could. I had asparagus with hollandaise sauce and my partner had a vegetarian risotto. Both these dishes arrived quickly and were cooked well. My asparagus was perfectly cooked and was shaved which my French friend says is the only way to serve asparagus. Ten out of ten for that! The hollandaise sauce was excellent. I tasted a little of the risotto and it was delicious. Service was spot on and the only thing I am able to complain about is I wish the car park had designated parking spaces. Cars were taking up too much room!! As far as I am concerned The Angel is smart with well trained efficient staff and a competent chef. If others were disappointed so be it. I shall be back.

Despite booking, we were served a meal that was luke warm, with roast potatoes that were hard, underdone and had been kept far too long, and cauliflower cheese that was gloupy and overcooked. Crab starter was tasteless and mango dessert very small. Staff were inattentive and uninterested in serving us. A very disappointing experience. We would have expected better from this hotel and will not be returning.

I really wish I had read the reviews on here before visiting for dinner. Sat in bar area. The staff didn’t seem to have clue what was going on. Impromptu visit and safe to say I won’t be returning. There was little clue about who was who. No attention to detail. Issue with my friends Guinness. There was no check during our meal to make sure everything was ok. Food was average for the price. I would have liked more sauce. Didn’t get the option. Moved after dinner to recline. No follow up from staff to see if we wanted desserts. Could have walked out and not paid that was the attention that was paid.

Booked a table for 2 for Sunday lunch, requested a table in a warm spot, arrived at the restaurant to be told it was closed and we would be eating in the banqueting hall. The place was vast, cool and totally without atmosphere, more like a canteen, and we were sat next to an outside door! We waited for a member of staff to give us the menus and we waited! Finally they arrived, we then waited again whilst 2 members of staff were chatting merrily at the bar. The waitress brought some food to the next table and I asked her if we could place our order, which she took. 20 minutes later we are still waiting for our drinks, at this point we had decided to leave and in walks the waitress with our mains, still no drinks! We then waited 4 minutes for the vegetables to arrive, still no drinks! Finally the drinks arrive, no apology, we were never asked if everything was ok. Having spoken to the people on the next table they had been there since 1pm and at 3,30 were still waiting for their desserts. I did at one point ask a waiter if the kitchen was closed! If they had had the courtesy of informing us that the main restaurant was closed we would have booked elsewhere. Oh by the way the food was mediocre and the pannacotta would have been happy being a tennis ball rather than a sweet. Who- ever is managing this restaurant need to get their act together. A total disappointment.

My parents visit here all the time as they are now local to Pershore. Our table was booked for 3pm, we were a family party of 7. There was only 1 other table in the main restaurant. Our starters arrived, food was nice, but then nothing.... we waited a while, the waiter then brought the Chef out to say sorry the oven had "gone out" & he hadn't realised! He said he didn't have enough roast potatoes and that we would have to wait another 20 mins or so. I think they were just trying to use it as an excuse as they didn't have enough food? After about another half an hour our mains finally came - the meat was tepid at best, mine was partially cold, albeit all the meat choices were tasty. I asked for Horseradish for my beef - they brought mustard! There was no Cauliflower Cheese, which was listed on the menu, they didn't even tell us, again they had run out by 3pm on a Sunday, which is pretty poor!!There wasn't many potatoes on the plates & only 1 Yorkshire, so we asked for more, together with more Yorkshires - (as they offer unlimited pots & Yorkies!) again another really long wait - by which time we had all finished our meals so by the time they arrived we just didn't want them. There was another table that had now arrived who also ordered roasts so I think they were holding food back for this table. We ordered desserts, which was a big mistake as yet again we had to wait for over half an hour which was becoming tedious. Also, the main toilets were both blocked, so overall the meal took over 3 hours and just left us with a bad impression. The waiters were helpful, but embarrassed.Management at this establishment need to up their game and sort out the staff & food issues in the kitchen.

I visited here with my mum and 3 sons for dinner whilst on holiday. The food was very good, the service excellent and the room where we ate was very clean and nicely presented. The staff were happy and friendly and made us feel very welcome. There was something for everyone and my family thought the fish was excellent. It was a lovely experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to return if we are in the area again.

I went here on a Sunday night - it was one of the few places in Pershore that was open and was reasonably full. It’s quite nicely done out - wooden tables and a nice warm feeling to it. The menu was traditional,English dishes - they have a selection of roasts on a Sunday, some vegetarian options and fish - I had fish and chips which was fine, and not expensive. Service was efficient and friendly. Not an amazing place but perfectly fine pub type food.

Staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food was expensive ,although it was nicely cooked. Chips were handmade they were more like wedges i would have preferred proper chips . Drinks were reasonably priced.

Just had a superb meal here. Highly recommend the lamb. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, thank you Scott and the rest of the team. We moored our boat on their moorings which are lovely, straight onto a garden area with the car park beyond. For a small charge we have been able to leave a car there for the week so that our crew could join us for a few days.

One month on from my first review I must say we felt we were in a different place. Arrived at 1540 and shown to a table, drink order taken, 20 minutes later we had to ask for drinks. Food order taken. 30 mins later I was presented with what can only be described as a plateful of uncooked fat, roast pork? Not. Waiter said he would eat it! Utter rubbish I will never darken their doors again.

Have eaten here before on a number of occasions. The place can be a little pretentious for what it is, nevertheless you generally receive a good meal. Not today.

Visited bank holiday Monday morning, for coffee and a breakfast roll. We ordered and paid for 2 rolls and 2 hot drinks at the bar, took our seats and along came our drinks, great! Not so great is that it took a further half an hour for the rolls to arrive, by which time, both drinks had gone cold. We did ask how long it was likely to be after waiting around 20 minutes to be told that hotel breakfasts take priority. If this is the case, then why don't you put on more staff to help with breakfasts and certainly on Bank Holiday Monday when you know it's going to be busy. This is not the first time this has happened but thought i would warn people to this. Once the rolls arrived they were hot and enjoyable.

The Angel always gets involved in the Pershore Plum Festival putting on entertainment down by the river. It's great they ditched the fireworks as well (for the sake of the foster dogs we have).

We bought this stay through ebay. We then had to upgrade because there were no rooms availible for an extra £20. On arival we were told we couldn't use the resturant until 8.30pm which was 1/2 hr before the final sitting. I asked if we could eat in the bar to which I was told only nibbles were availible. We then asked the bar staff & they said we could have the full menu in the bar area. We then witnessed a confrontation which got ugly. A young family left abruptely & no one intervened. We said to a member of staff afterwards that the manager should have asked these people to leave to which he replied that he shouldn't have had to say anything.

Went on a late booking, lived in area for many years but never been here. Very good quality staff, pleasant, friendly but not intrusive. Good knowledge of food served. All food was homemade with locally sourced ingredients. Delicious - look forward to returning and trying other dishes.

We recently moved to the area and are on a mission to find the perfect Sunday lunch, we must say that so far this place is the top of the list. The meal, staff and surroundings were all fine, we could not fault a thing!

We were recommended to call here on our way home as we had stayed in ledbury and the angel is a sister of the seven stars there. We were so impressed that a lot of their produce comes from their own farm that we said we would have lunch at the angel on our way up the motorway. We loved it. its a lot bigger than the ledbury restaurant that they own but has exactly the same friendly feel. well worth the visit, we shall call again when we are driving past in November.

The Angel gets my vote everytime. I work just outside Pershore most weeks and stay here whenever I can. I can't book in advance a lot of the time and so miss out sometimes as its often full.

This is a great place to visit for dinner. We went on Saturday and thought the place deserved top marks. The welcome was good, the menu was classy and the service was excellent. It seems all the dishes are home made and most from their own farm!

We were taken here for lunch one afternoon. We were given the menu at work so the food could be pre ordered & practically be ready within 5minutes of us getting there. There wasn't much left on anyones plate.

On a nice sunny ☀️ October afternoon had a drive out to revills for a ☕️ coffee and cake 🍰 Lady making the coffees was really friendly. My mum can’t walk very far and said we could use the other door 🚪 when we left. Lots of cakes 🧁 to choose from. Coffee super hot

First popped into the Cafe on the way to the m50 for a pitstop about 12 months ago.oOn that occassion ordered a jacket potato with cheese. Took 40 mins and then it had cream cheese covered with a birds dropping size of hard cheese. Disgusting. Called in again this weekend as driver was hungry and ordered 2 lots of salad sandwich, a sausage roll and a slice of cake. Cost, 24.00. Asked for mayo but didn't have any. Sandwich consisted of two slices of dried bread and the salad was a lettuce leaf, a chunk of tomatoe and a slice of cucumber. Barely covered the meat but meat was OK, 2 slices of ham. Put together by a 4 year old by the looks of it. Cake was good though. However in future I will be using the mobile snack bar in the nearby lay-by if he's there next time I'm passing.

As a frequent solo diner around all of the Cotswolds, I have frequented many local eateries and have previously stayed at the Crown. Last night I thought I would indulge myself by dining there. I had two starters rather than one main. The service was excellent, the team were friendly and attentive and the food was 1st class!! Thank you Reece, you really are a top chef, funds permitting I may come back again tonight !!
