Simply disappointed. No meet and greet at the door. We just stood in the entrance despite a staff member doing nothing. Disproportionate amount of time waiting for a menu. Asked to choose wine before we had even seen a menu. There were lots of changes to the menu which we were verbally told but to repeat this to all diners was time consuming. A simple menu reprint would have been better. The waitresses were polite but there was no happiness. When we asked one to explain what something was the answer came back as ‘a pastry thing’. There was a lack of dish knowledge by everyone except the main man. Who was running around taking orders and producing bills and basically doing the brunt of the work. The terrine starter and beetroot gravlax were bland. Main courses were good but the chocolate torte was more of a sponge cake with no robust/ deep taste. The wine we chose was good and reasonably priced. It was meant to be a special occasion but was an expensive lack lustre affair.

You walk through the farm shop to the restaurant/cafe at the back of the building. Had a slight mix up with the reservation I made, but a table in a quiet area was available at the time we arrived so no drama really. Very busy with only a couple of tables free inside so would advise booking. Great looking menu, I chose the homemade lasagne and my wife selected the bacon and brie baguette which you order at the counter. I was told as it is busy, the food may take 20 mins to come out which I thought was excellent customer service, not only does this show that the food is freshly prepared but also prevents me looking at my watch wondering where my order is. Both came with a side salad, and my wife's had a row of crisps and homemade coleslaw, my lasagne came with three slices of garlic bread. The meals were excellent and you can see why it is rated so highly on TripAdvisor. I had a bottle of Porter which was delicious and my wife had a medium glass of pinot, altogether just over £30 for everything, which I thought was excellent value for the quality and freshness of food. The lady (who must be the owner) continued to apologise for the mix up with the booking, mistakes happen and the situation was handled perfectly. If you're in the area and a bit peckish then I would highly recommend the Ellenden Farm cafe. We shall be back.

Amazing coffee, amazing staff, amazing town with very nice people. I had a fantastic time there overall. However, reception is poor in Bishampton town and inside the shop or any buildings you might not be able to make any calls, send messages, or make online payments without network interruptions. I really hope the relevant authorities can improve mobile phone network reception in the area. Also if you plan on using a debit card at the village shop/post office to pay for coffee and other items, it might not work for some reason. It’s the single most painful experience I had to endure since I had to look for another post office to withdraw cash.

Our group of 10 people from a “Cake Club” had a really enjoyable afternoon tea and canal boat trip on 19 June. Andy and Caroline were very friendly hosts. The afternoon tea was delicious. The food was fresh, tasty and varied. Caroline was an excellent host….attentive but not intrusive. The canal boat trip was delightful. We journeyed effortlessly from Dunhampstead to just past Hanbury Wharf and back, which is an interesting and peaceful section of the Birmingham to Worcester canal. It included going through Dunhampstead Tunnel. Andy and Caroline rolled up the “windows” before we set out, as it was a sunny afternoon. We felt close to nature and were fortunate to see a family of swans and a heron, as well as ducks and moor hens in the reed beds. We all really enjoyed the trip and would certainly recommend it. I love coming here and come most weeks. Lisa and Tony who run it are lovely and they have really nice food, very cheap surprisingly too. It’s got a nice ambience about the place especially when you sit outside with the wind chimes and the old antiques that surround you. There also some antiques/curiosity cabins next door and there’s a nice communal feel between them and the tea room. In short, visit here and come and enjoy the nice ambience 😌
