We meet our friends here on Sunday 7th of July 2024 for a traditional Sunday Lunch. We were not disappointed. The service from the team was fantastic and the food was great. I had a beef roast which can be hit and miss wherever you go, and it was cooked to perfection. Nice dollop of gravy and Puds were lovely. Well presented food.

Didn’t even go in, got to the car park saw the scrap heap and rubbish and thought if this is how they look after the first view a customer sees, then kitchen hygiene can’t be up to much. Sorry if this is incorrect but first impressions are important, and clearly this place doesn’t care.

We are holidaying in Harvington and saw that they did takeaway on a Friday. We both had Fish and Chips. The fish was done beautifully in beer batter with homemade chips and peas. I would have loved to have given them 10 out of 10 but I had 9 bones in my piece of fish which spoilt it a bit, they do warn you about the bones though.

We have enjoyed many families and friends’ meals at this pub, with its wide range of meals, all well cooked and at very affordable prices……. but no more! Recent changes have reduced the menu, almost doubled the prices and made even worse by poor quality food. So, we can’t see this pub surviving!

Visited the Golden Cross with my young family and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The pub has obviously undergone a transformation under the new landlord. Very clear social distancing rules and easy to adhere to. Pub smells and looks clean coupled with a garden that is a delight with herbs and plants to view and educate. We had a Sunday lunch which was delicious and nothing was too much trouble in regards to the children's meals. We'll be back and would recommend highly.

I can't praise Mr Phillips of the Golden Cross highly enough. Having taken over the pub days before lockdown, he has has worked tirelessly to find ways to keep the pub open and is currently providing an amazing takeaway service for the village. His menu offers lots of really tasty options whether you want breakfast, lunch or dinner. My favorites (so far) being the takeaway Sunday Roast, the legendary Fish and Chips and the totally amazing Ploughmans. Many of the ingredients used are sourced locally, through partnerships with local businesses, which is in turn helping them stay open. There has been an addition of a Mr Whippy machine has brought many a smile to the children of the village and a great selection of takeaway cocktails that have brought many a smile to my face! There is also a new web page for the pub which it well worth checking out. I am impatiently waiting lockdown to be over and to be able to visit the pub properly and experience all the exciting plans Mr Phillips has in store for the Golden Cross. Well done and congratulations on all that you have achieved so far

I have passed this pub a few times lately whilst visiting my brother and had to stop as there were plants, tools, bread, flowers, ice cream and food for sale. The local home made products are delicious, staff very friendly, food very tasty and so nice to see a new local business doing its best to keep the local community together. Flour for elderly residents was even brought in as they could not get out and the bread on sale every day is delicious. Rob and his team are doing a fabulous job providing great food and service whilst giving the pub a face lift. During these difficult times it so encouraging to see that people do and can fight on and make the most of a bad situation. Thanks for being so friendly Rob, you are a star and I will definitely be back for a Sunday roast very soon, with my own plate :) Keep up the great work and we are all so pleased that you are keeping us going.

This business invites customers to bring their own plates, for a 50p discount on a roast meal. A recipe to spread germs and a virus. We will consult the relevant legal authority to confirm the legal standing of this situation and hopefully stop this virus spreading facility. Spoke with the manager (?) who failed to acknowledge the health implications of this simple, basic hygiene requirement. Extremely rude and arrogant.

Well done to Rob taking over The Golden Cross in Harvington, Evesham. Having just started to run the pub before the COVID-19 pandemic and now doing a great job in takeaway food & drink to keep our community together. We have had some great food from Sunday lunch, Friday Fish & Chips with mushy peas (but I think that can be any night) and I asked for a cheeky curry sauce sample that was not on the menu, given with no quibble and it was fab. He has done his very best under difficult circumstances to keep everyone happy with options of takeaway meals, drinks, snacks, Mr Whippy ice creams, smoothies and more whilst still maintaining social distancing. I can highly recommend the pub and Robs happy extremely friendly service. I look forward to some kind of normal service at some point in the future after the pandemic. Well Done again to Rob & his team. From Mark & Julie

Rob the landlord took over the Golden Cross just before the covid lockdown, he is obviously not a man to be deterred by a global pandemic and has turned the pub temporarily into a thriving take-away. Rob provides excellent Sunday lunches, burgers, fish and chips, full English breakfasts and breakfast baps. He also provides whipped ice creams, smoothies and milkshakes. Oh yes, an he even sells take-away beer. I can't wait to see what he does with the pub once we are back to a normal life. Meantime check out the website and treat yourself.

We visited the Golden Cross last night with friends as Claire and Ian were doing one of their special nights, this time it was a tapas night. They did themselves proud with a great selection of 12 tapas dishes, the chorizo dish I am still salivating over! With the option of Spanish beer or wine to go with the meal and free live music The Golden Cross managed to bring a bit of Iberian magic to Harvington, even conjuring up some Mediterranean weather for the evening. Just arrived in the village on a short break and stopped here for lunch. Great landlord, friendly and chatty. Upon first impressions it was difficult to tell if this was a pub or a restaurant. It seemed to lend itself to food more than a drinking place and lacked identity sadly. Massive menu lots to choose from. However, whilst everything was cooked fresh the food was very bland, there wasn't any seasoning or lovely flavours so from that point of view it was disappointing. Think this would be a good place for families with children or larger parties of people wanting a meal.

Wanted to try desserts this time so had Fish and Chips and then desserts. Crispy batter and lovely chips. Husband had Sticky Toffee Pudding and raved about how light it was. I had Eton Mess which was well- presented and delicious. Since our earlier visit it is wonderful to see how the current landlords are making this a great village pub. Whilst doing the Blossom Trail we stopped for lunch at The Golden Cross. What a discovery! There is a full and extensive main menu, but we opted for the 'Winter Special' option. Each course had three choices. I could not resist the Whitebait and my husband had Duck and Orange Pate with what he said was a delicious orange sauce. We both chose Cod and Chips. When we arrived we were advised that it was the Chef's day off and that Ian, the landlady' s partner would be cooking. He did a fantastic job. Whilst waiting for our food the landlady' s father was fascinating to talk with. Unfortunately we were too full to sample a dessert. We had a first-class meal in clean and pleasant surroundings. We were made to feel welcome and will definitely try to visit again. We asked for a card so we can book a table for Sunday lunch in the future. The price for our lunch? One course: GBP4.95; two courses: GBP6.95; three courses: GBP8.95. You could easily pay this for a starter in someplaces. Portions were generous and presentation good. This pub iswell worth a visit.

What a beaut of a find! Stayed near Harvington to break up a long trip and had had The Golden Cross recommended by some locals. What a treat! Gorgeous, homely pub with a gem of a beer garden to boot. The landlord and landlady could not have been more accommodating and were very generous with their time, informing us about the local area and talking us through their terrific renovations of the pub (which are superb). The food was delicious, beautifully cooked and obviously lovingly (and genuinely) homemade; the drinks were served to perfection- perfectly chilled wine and perfectly chilled beer - a rare yet welcomed bonus! I only wished we lived nearer - I envy the people of Harvington, having this treasure as their local!

Tried The Golden Cross for probably only the 3rd time since living in Harvington for as many years as it had just reopened yet again. I would have to argue that it has had a complete revamp as still looks a tad shabby around the edges and looks like it has had just a lick of white paint and new curtains. However we thought we would give it a go for tea on friday night. I have to say we were a little disappointed with the food, not really hot enough and nothing special given the price they are charging for pub food. It would also have been nice to have been asked if we were or had enjoyed our meal! By 9pm the pub was almost empty as it has been on the other occasions we have visited.

First popped into the Cafe on the way to the m50 for a pitstop about 12 months ago.oOn that occassion ordered a jacket potato with cheese. Took 40 mins and then it had cream cheese covered with a birds dropping size of hard cheese. Disgusting. Called in again this weekend as driver was hungry and ordered 2 lots of salad sandwich, a sausage roll and a slice of cake. Cost, 24.00. Asked for mayo but didn't have any. Sandwich consisted of two slices of dried bread and the salad was a lettuce leaf, a chunk of tomatoe and a slice of cucumber. Barely covered the meat but meat was OK, 2 slices of ham. Put together by a 4 year old by the looks of it. Cake was good though. However in future I will be using the mobile snack bar in the nearby lay-by if he's there next time I'm passing.
