Went on Saturday night & won't be returning anytime soon. Didn't realise it was easy to ruin ham chips & egg but the chef managed it! The ham was processed sandwich meat & tasted of nothing. The eggs under cooked to the point the white was still snotty looking! The chef also needs to remember people have allergies. The chicken burger on the menu didn't come with cheese yet there it was melted so much it blended with the dry coating on the burger. We had an appointment & needed to eat & run. Otherwise the food would of been sent back. It's a shame as this is the better pub in the village.

I booked a table for my husband my mother in law and myself for 7.45 on a Friday evening. Got there to be told it was a Thai night and they were very busy. No tables left so we had to sit in the bar which was full and noisy. The menu was very limited but we ordered at 8pm. No food by 8.25. Staff member came over and said our food wouldn't be much longer. Still no food at 8.45. Told Staff that we were leaving They did apologise and said that it was busy due to the Thai night. I said that they shouldn't have taken my booking and she no we shouldn't have. Seemed very disorganised Won't go back

I don't normally write reviews but I felt this time things needed to be said. I booked online but when I got there there was no evidence of my booking, the pub was virtually empty. I ordered fish and chips, the fish was good but the chips were soggy and floating in grease, no tartare sauce either, only mayonnaise. The ladies toilets were out of order so had to use the mens, which obviously had not been cleaned, they were pretty horrible, please just give them a good clean! This was my 76th birthday treat, unfortunately I will not be going back.

Awful - really don’t bother! We pre booked for my birthday meal, (so they knew we were coming) they arrived late to unlock pub, (after the time we had booked our meal) we sat outside they tried to mow the grass while we were there, until we asked them not to. There were no menus, they tried to show us on lap top but it didn’t work. We felt like we were putting them out, very unorganised unhelpful and rude. We left to eat else where and I don’t have time to finish my drink but still had to pay for it even though they knew it was due to them we felt we had to leave

Incredibly disappointed. We booked a meal at The Cross Keys after an extensive search for restaurants/ pubs with a good gluten free selection. The Cross Keys seemed to offer something a little bit different to the normal pub grub. The menu on their website offered many gluten free options like whipped feta, fondue, Korean beef, risotto etc. In reality they had nothing of the sort. The only gf mains were fish and chips or Caesar salad- exactly what we were trying to avoid. We ordered the only two options. Caesar salad with additional chicken for £4.... The chicken was not freshly cooked and out of a packet. The Caesar salad contained limp leaves and dressing only. Not even parmesan. I asked for the missing parmesan and I was brought out some grated soft smoked cheese.... Disgusting. The fish was very greasy. Despite being tempted by the promised gf sticky toffee pudding, we left after our mains.

We booked here through a recommendation. My sister and I thought it would be a great sunday roast spot for Mother's Day and were were right! £22 for 2 courses we thought was a great price. We had a mixture of chicken, beef and pork roasts which were all excellent (although, we all do prefer cheesier cauliflower cheese). We had the apple crumble and 2 biscoff cheesecakes which was the perfect end to the lunch. The staff were young but all really friendly and efficient. Overall, a really well cooked lunch/dessert and very reasonably priced. We plan to return to try the normal dinner menu.

Very disappointed with the Sunday lunch here today. Service was slow, beef undercooked and so tough had to ask for a steak knife. Vegetables also undercooked, everything was lukewarm. We did complain and got a reduction on our meal but no apology from the manager, although the waitress was very apologetic. Several other tables were also complaining, it looked to us that they had taken too many bookings and couldn’t cope with the numbers. We won’t be returning.

We had the two course lunch menu. The food was very nice. It felt like you didn't get a lot for the money spent but none of us left hungry. Service could have been better. Just little things such as the waitress started clearing our plates without asking if we were finished. She took the bowl of sharing vegetables away before I had the chance to say that my daughter was still eating them. You are presented with the menu which shows all starters, mains and desserts available. There wasn't anything that appealed to me on the dessert side so I opted for a starter. My other daughter really wanted the apple crumble so she ordered her main and was told we could order dessert after. When the menu was brought round again we were told there was actually no crumble and it was a chocolate brownie instead. I would have chosen this over a starter and my daughter would have chosen a starter had she known in advance that the crumble wasn't available. With set menus I think it's handy to know before you start ordering what is and isn't available. The food is very nice though, especially the roast Pork and Halloumi Fries.

This pub has been closed for several months, but it was worth the wait for it to open with a new team, wonderful Sunday lunch in a community owned pub which is family run. You can have a selection of starters mains and puddings, for a set price for 2 or 3 courses. This a very welcoming local pub with a great mixture of visitors and local all enjoying a drink and or food. Looking at the weekday menu a large selection of food which includes some light bites for those with a smaller appetite and for those who are gluten free /vegetarian and vegan there is option, well worth a visit

Meal not very warm but was replaced quickly. A boy of about 7 or 8 wandering around in a onesie following waitresses about and standing at the table staring at us, very un relaxing, I think he was one of the waitresses child. Looking for a quiet country pub on our drive back from Devon and found the Cross Keys. It's a little community run pub for locals and is obviously the centre of their community. So, good to support we thought. The young lady serving was super friendly and polite, and although we were too late for food (finishes at 2) we sat in the lovely peaceful pub garden and enjoyed our drinks. The pub also has a milk vending machine and milkshakes as well as jars of jams and pickles etc. There is also a phone number to get burgers, both beef and venison and a other farm products. It's a feel good place and exactly how a quiet country pub should be.

The staff member behind bar on our arrival was great all the way through from taking drink orders to food orders and bringing it over to the table. Attentive without being noticeable. Good menu selection, ham/egg/chips classic, lovely chunky fresh ham, vivid yellow fresh eggs. Fish and chips weren’t down a treat as well as 2 pie and mash. Reasonably priced, lovely surroundings, we all said it would be good to meet again for lunch and a catch up.

Myself and my partner enjoyed our Sunday lunch, the starters were limited , but main courses and sweets had a good Sunday choice about them , who wants a big starter when the mains are excellent - I had the nut roast, with all the trimmings whils my partner had the fish and chunky chips , both portions were very good, I’m trying to stay off meat at the moment and I have to say the nut roast was excellent , we followed up with the amazing £14 cheese board for 2 , (there’s a £9 option for one person) The mains came in at a fair £15 price tag each ( the fish maybe cheaper ) and the portion was excellent , the 2 girls serving were really good and this had a typical Sunday pub feel , with a few people in the bar having a good old laugh and a few beers. We shiikd be visiting this area more in 2023 and knowing that the cross keys is close by is a plus. Any negative reviews about the price or quality of the food , is certainly unfounded with our experience today. Thanks for a great Sunday.

A country pub that looked promising but failed to deliver. The meal was simply too expensive for its quality. Not somewhere I will return to in a hurry. A pie with vegetables. Under cooked vegetables that were actually a little crunchy, the meat was a little tough and mashed potato lumpy. .A simple burger and chips had an under cooked burger, very pink through the middle and it contained a small strip of plastic about 3.5cm long.

We eat here quite regularly and the food is of good quality and is tasty. It’s not cheap but where is nowadays. Unfortunately the pub, especially the garden, is all looking a bit tired and unkempt. There’s fresh and dry dog poo in the garden, a tired-looking bouncy castle and most of the pub benches are on their last legs - literally. The food is the saving grace and full credit to the chef.

My husband and I popped in yesterday for a drink. The young lady behind the bar was busy but said hello. Once she had finished with the previous customer we got ready to order our drinks however there was no acknowledgement that we were even there. She collected glasses, had a chat and then, last straw, served a customer who arrived at the bar after us. It was almost as though we were completely invisible. If she hadn't said hello to us I would have actually thought that she genuinely hadn't seen us. At this point we took our custom elsewhere. I probably wouldn't have left this review however a comment on their Facebook page went unacknowledged (much like us!) and presumably deleted as it no longer appears.

We visited whilst staying in the area, a lovely local pub which is run by the community and it shows. My boyfriend and I were able to get a table straight away, the pub is clean and well laid out. All staff are lovely and we couldn’t of asked for better. We both had a main meal of steak pie with mash and fresh vegetables which was very reasonably priced and it tasted amazing, easily the best pie we have had for a long time. Full of flavour the pastry wasn’t heavy but was a perfect compliment to the inside and the mash was perfectly soft. We couldn’t manage a pudding as we were too stuffed but seeing the table next to us they did look amazing. If we are ever in the area again then we will definitely be returning. The added fresh milk machine with optional milk shake flavours outside the pub from local cows is all very impressive. A must visit you won’t be disappointed.

We turned up without a booking after a long journey with 3 hungry kids. The staff we so understanding and really accommodating, eve though they couldn't manage a full meal due to a busy kitchen they made sure my children had something. A perfect example of great customer service and a lovely village pub, this is why we should be supporting small local pubs. Outstanding service and food that deserves out support. Thank you all, my son says "they were the best chips ever! Can we come again?" We will be sure to book next time x

Had a lovely dinner at the Cross Keys, food was of a very high standard, especially the Tortellini. Staff are very attentive and friendly, beautiful rural setting.

Myself, wife and daughter visited here after a day at Longleat 3rd July 2021. Bar staff were lovely and friendly, this is where the positive news ends I'm afraid. After we ordered we noticed that there were a few flies. We understand windows and doors...

We had a delicious Sunday lunch with my daughter and her husband at the weekend. Beautifully cooked and generous portions, faultless. We sampled the locally made baked apple sorbet as we couldn’t manage a dessert and it was out of this world. It was my...

Booked the Cross Keys for Sunday lunch for wife’s birthday lunch with her parents. We arrived at 12:30 and the pub was already buzzing before the European final. We had a great chat with the lady of the house, Jo, who was amazing and so...

Having ate here before and had a good time I thought it would be good for a birthday meal for 4 on a Monday lunch time how disappointing it was. 2 Steak & Stiton pies ordered although very tasty lacked Stiton and was meant to be served with veg we had to ask for the veg which when it arrived after several minutes the excuse was we only have 2 microwaves not the excuse I wanted, the other 2 meals were fine, unfortunately we will not go back.

We booked a table for the opening party, the pub opened earlier in the week with new staff and owners.

We visited on a Sunday for breakfast. Arriving a couple of minutes after 10am (opening time), we queued for a table and then again to order food. There were plenty of tables but appreciated it was busy - not all tables were full. We waited for 50 minutes for our food to arrive, although coffee arrived much earlier. This was prompted by us asking where our food was/checking the order had been made, to which we were told ‘we’d just have to wait because it was busy’. The food arrived 5 minutes later. The food was tasty and we’ve no complaints about the quality or price. But, something about the system here just doesn’t make sense, queuing at every point and then waiting another 50 minutes for scrambled eggs on toast and a bacon sandwich, doesn’t make sense. We arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 12:15…. People had started arriving for lunch! Sadly, we’d not return. There are just other places nearby that are doing it better.

The location of this establishment is strange because the shop/restaurant sits within what is essentially a business park in the middle of nowhere but it is not hard to find. The setting was ideal for a summer lunch with lots of variously covered areas to shelter from the sun or rain if it happens. Then you realise that all these covered areas are, in fact, the restaurant! I saw no evidence of indoor seating. The main seating area is fundamentally a plastic marquee attached to a shop unit and all the seats are picnic benches. They have an interesting menu, which changes regularly I understand, and it is obvious that this establishment is not trying be a full all ‘singing and dancing’ restaurant and they do make that clear. It uses locally sourced quality produce for Deli style light meals, specifically lunches, and also snacks. The people running it are personable, welcoming and efficient. We found them very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. Overall, the food menu is a little overpriced I feel but not excessive. That said, a few dishes do seem “over the top’ for what they are. It is the shop where the prices are eyewatering expensive and I think they have gone too far. I can here them now saying that they are supporting local suppliers and that this comes at a cost but times are hard and I do truly believe they, or their suppliers, need to face reality as the pricing is far too high. We need to support businesses like this but they have to respond too! Did I enjoy my meal? Yes, fantastic, Would I go again? Yes, definitely! Would I encourage you to go? Yes definitely! I just warn you that your visit will be enjoyable but not cheap so be prepared.

Visited Marlborough for the day and popped in for a coffee! We were greeted with quick, friendly service and were excited about the range of pastries we got to choose from! We were very impressed with the cleanliness and style of the cafe and would absolutely love to return here when we’re down again!
