We have gone here for years it used to be 5*. The starters are still superb, gorgeous onion bhaji, chicken tikka, popadoms and sauces.. we go mainly for those!!. The mains just take it down for us.. not as good as they used to be.. i dont eat the chicken in them and sometimes the curry tastes of stock.. however other times the sauces are tastier.

Rice tasted like it'd been cooked by white people in a 60s old people's home - unforgivably stodgey. Popadoms tasted like they'd been cooked in recycled biodiesel with a touch of cardboard - inedible. Dhal was so salty I used it as a sparsely applied sauce to help flavour the tasteless brinjal. Sag paneer was distinctly lacking something... oh yes, paneer... four tiny pieces. And the lamb achari, okay flavour but hella tough... it's not hard to make it tender, just cook it for longer. Won't be coming back.

I really wanted to like this place as it would our local Indian restaurant and I like the variety of veggie options, including potato, vegetable or paneer choices available on a wide variety of dishes. Perhaps we visited them on an off day, but the service was so poor that for probably the first time ever in a restaurant we did not tip. We arrived 2 and a half hours before closing but the restaurant was empty with no music or atmosphere. We asked if we could have a table for two and were met with a grunt and the pulling back of a chair. Some music was turned on which thankfully made it seem less empty and quiet. We were given the menu but almost straight away asking if we were ready to order. We weren't offered a poppadom to start and when we asked for this it seemed to be an inconvenience. The glasses the Cobra came out in were poorly washed. Then, as we were eating the poppadoms, the waiter kept peering over the table and literally the very second one person finished he cleared their plate despite the other still eating. This same pattern was repeated for the mains. The last one of us to finish our main was left eating whilst he was reaching over and completely clearing the table around. We just got the impression we were unwanted there and an inconvenience. To make it particularly clear that we were unwelcome the waiter turned the music off whilst we were in the final stages of our meal. It would have been partially redeemed had the food been good, but sadly both dishes were bland, flavourless and lacked spices. We gave them a chance despite being empty and we can now see why no one else had chosen them on a weekend evening. Disappointing.
