The Clay Oven in Barking and Dagenham

Food was really nice, I ordered through the website direct so was much cheaper than via just eat. We all enjoyed our meals with bonus free side dish also 4 poppadoms and pots of onion salad. I collected the order and it was ready very quickly not long to wait. Happy to say would order again.

I'm a foodie and iv tried many Indian takeaways which wasn't all bad but clay oven for the 1st time today I tried I was left speechless the chef needs a raise.food was 10/10 service 10/10.i can't express any mor how lovely that Meal was and I'm a very picky individual when it comes down to food.

Clay Oven Dagenham was named best takeaway at the Curry Life Awards for the 2nd year in a row. Very well deserved guys. We won't go anywhere else. Chicken Tikka Masala is our all-time favorite made to a special recipe.

Made a huge order, it was ready in 30 mins and was hot and fresh! Food was delicious and really good value for money. Would definitely order again

We deliver from here all the time. The best Indian around and what they deliver food in is safe, secure, keeps food warm as it’s in a cardboard taped up box. Their food is delicious, it’s always quick delivery. Never had an issue! If I could give 10 stars I would!

Food was ordered on their website & the delivery was prompt. I had called the restaurant to quiz if they do a dish which wasn’t showing on their site, which I’m happy they told me that will be adding it on soon but, for now If I select a korma dish and add in the desired dish in the notes they will amend. Food look tasty af and was absolutely delicious! A stella thumbs up from the four of us!!

Can’t understand any positive review for this place. The food is bland, Luke warm at best and lacks any kind of flavour. I honestly think, people who rate this place have bland taste buds. Because they put the bare minimum spice in most of their dishes. If you want something with flavour and that packs spice, try Royal Bengal in Dagenham Heathway.

Have used clay oven for years ever since it openned. Always tasty and consistently good, and they will tweak their dishes to your liking where they can. really good food. Well done.👍👍👍

A wonderful and delicious meal I just bought. Very pleasant and helpful customer service. They patiently explained toe the various options, recommended a selection to my taste, prepared it with appealing representation and most importantly, cooked it with superb quality 👌. We ordered from Clay Oven off their website on Saturday evening. Food arrived quickly as it's only a few minutes away from where we are. Food was very hot, tasted nice and we appreciated the complimentary Bombay aloo. However, from early hours of Sunday morning, both me and my partner have had a very bad stomach. Both our children are fine (they did not eat the food) so we know it's the Indian as it's the only thing we both ate separately from the children. We are currently on Tuesday morning and still our stomachs don't feel 100%. Really disappointing because the food tasted really good and we thought we had finally found a good Indian restaurant after trying many. However, given how poorly this food has made us both, I couldn't recommend Clay Oven to anyone. Absolutely will not be ordering from here again.

Food normally 10 out of 10 but my god today hole order was probably the worst meal I’ve ever had korma sauce tasted weird and was watery chips was uneatable taste coated in grease rice was over cooked naan was buttery as hell onion bhajis tasted old no way was that fresh from today I don’t know weather you got a new chef if u do I would sack him been eating from here 3 years now and never have I ever received some that bad

The food that we got was good haven’t had a large variety of food from here but the chicken is soft curries have good flavour. Good customer service.

A great take away service. I only gave 4 stars for food as the last time I had a tika the chicken was a bit over cooked and dry and the rice was a bit crunchy in places. Overall tho normally a wicked India

This is normally my go to Indian restaurant that I order from when I’m with my girlfriend. They do a create your own set meal which is good value. The food quality is always very good and tasty. I go for the vindaloo every time and it always goes down well

Usually the food is nicely cooked. The last two occasions disappointingly were both delivered with burnt main dishes. No apology although the delivery guy was extra chatty handing the food over.

Ordered a takeaway firstly tried to deliver wrong house secondly the food was awful lamb biryani was dry and tasteless as for the lamb samosa and onion Bhaji well it was like chewing sawdust. Never again.

As a previous Indian takeaway owner I am very critical when it comes to indian food. Decided to place a collection order as they are across the road. The service is polite and friendly. The place itself is spotless, super clean. We ordered lamb tikka biryani and substituted the vegetable curry for a tarka daal. A very generous portion, the lamb tikka was spiced well and tender. The daal was full of flavour and the right consistency. 1/2 tandoori chicken was cooked well, but lacked in flavour. Could have been a lot better. Unfortunately the peshwari naan was burnt along with the filling being weak which prevented the place from receiving 5 stars. We did get a complimentary side dish of Sag Aloo which was a nice touch. The food is great value for money. I would definitely recommend giving it a go, I will certainly be back.

An item i ordered was missing from my order, but everything else was amazing. Lamb naga was flavorful but i am used to it a bit spicier, do you use mr naga or the actual chilli? Will be ordering again, it's a shame about the missing bhaji but its a busy Friday night at the rest of the food made up for it :)

First time ordering at Clay Oven, went in and the place was spotless, friendly, polite, service. Food was contained in a cardboard box so no plastic bags. Food was very good. Recommended 👍

Fantastic service as we always order from these guys. They offer great portion sizes and even sometimes extra dishes for you.

The first time i came to this place , it was wonderful , everything tasted nice thus my second visit, however it wasnt as well as it was last time. you see , the food was tasteless; especially the vegetables and the beef in the curry was hard and chewy, it was a huge let-down from out past experience.

Honestly if only I could less than 1 star.. Food horrible service horrible.. The staff attitude horrible.. Never again.. Avoid so many other place to dine out.. 🙄

Top quality cooking.. had non vegetarian thali and a make your own meal.. Every dish was well cooked and the flavours and spice cam through in every item. Well done will definitely use again.

I'm so disappointed cos Clay Oven used to be the best. The food in general has declined and no longer worth the money. Spoke to them tonight about how samosa were spicy last time and they said they come pre made, which is ok. Ordered samosa again tonight and they are so spicy it's tasteless and inedible.for me this is bad because my 2yo loves eating their samosa usually, tonight she spat it out. Called back to tell them it was inedible spicy and they basically said tough luck that's how they are now. Used to be so good with food, value, friendly staff, not so much now.

Ordered veg Thali for £17. It had frozen mix sabji dish, one aloo dish, some okra, and saag. With rice . And one naan All tasteless. No dal and no sweet. Absolutely worthless for the amount

I only give 4 star rating.because i had mixed biryani and the meat was dry.Shame because the rest was nice.I will order from here again and hope the meats not cooked to much next time.Very big portions.

Shocking! Seriously bad. 3 stars for looks -3 for taste. I've tasted over 80% of restaurants within 10 miles of Romford. Being an Indian and a foodie, I can safely say that Clay Oven is in the top 5 of worst food. How can tandoori chicken be so dry and washed of flavour at the same time? How can you have so many ingredients and lack flavour? The Bombay Badboy Pot Noodle would have been a better call. I'm not happy having been so hungry and specifically asked the restaurant to make the food to Indian tastes, with spice and not to be drowned in oil.

Ordered with one price on there website with25% off this is a scam when delivery driver comes ask for full price when speaking to manger at restauant ask to pay full no customer service I order every week from there and this is how they treat me stay away from these scammers with there dis oynt just order with uber eats as they have no way to scam you. Will be posting more review of there nasty behaviour last time I. M ordering from these jokers ruined my meal

Only been ordering from here in last few months and would agree with all the praise until last night when the delivery was a mix of both dried out overcooked it's combined with offtasting items in sauce, not going into individual detail here and may try again as this may have been a one off, but very disappointed and a little unwell today. Ordered online direct from the Clay Oven, so not confused or missdir ected by an ordering app.

Surprised I haven’t reviewed here yet, seeing as I’ve used it so many times. In one word AMAZING. Best Indian type food I’ve had in ages and my wife really rates it too (and she knows what she’s on about). Incredible quality and portion sizes, and delivery service is superb, they even put everything in a box and tape it secure. I can’t help thinking some of the negative reviews are for a different Clay Oven which isn’t a million miles away, a lot of people seem to have got caught out with this on the Just Eat app

Food arrived (via two cars?) but was delivered to the wrong house and they drove off! When calling the manager he lied about them delivering the food and refused to give my money back but luckily I caught their whole scam act on CCTV. Can’t believe the same place that I’ve always ordered Indian from would do something this scummy. Disgusting service and management.

Ordered lamb madras and the lamb was very tender, (compared to several other previous take-aways where we couldn’t even chew it,) there was no fat gristly bits, this proves “Clay Oven” use good quality products. Was super fast from order to delivery too. Thankyou!!

Hi My wife ordered some food off of you tonight Firstly the guy delivered it wouldn’t stop talking on he’s phone just gave it to my neighbour who was at my front door when I said it’s my takeaway he ignored me still talking on he’s phone When I unpacked the food it was tasteless my wife asked for mushroom rice instead of pilau rice guess what got pilau rice the food was stone cold the salad was warmer I’ve never ever had a Indian that had no taste We just spent nearly £30 on cold tasteless unethentic slop that is now in our bin Really dissatisfied with clay oven you should be ashamed selling food like that Do any of your so called chefs taste what they are cooking disgusting

I ordered the food by uber eat app. Food was not fresh Looks like a few days older and some of the food was not fully cooked , smells as bad as well from the fish tikka. I will never eat never order from Clay oven. It was the baddest experience

When I saw the picture of the biryani I knew it would not be nice but I thought il try it anyway charged us £4 for delivery when the restaurant was only 2 miles away and the food was tasteless the chicken chaat was nasty and gave my husband a bad stomach this was the first and last time ordering from this place!

Just finished our takeaway and it was delicious! Fresh and hot and the chicken tikka masala was very tender. We ordered through their website and they automatically added a 10% discount at checkout as we spent the required amount where with others you have to enter a code. Ordered a chicken sag tonight with tarka dhall , garlic nan & rice . The portion size was great was sharing the meal we both had a good helping . We were given 2 free popadoms with mint sauce and onion salad . Having not had an Indian meal for so long we were both looking forward to the meal . It looked lovely but unfortunately the meal was totally tasteless . It was bland and watery . The best part of the meal was the popadoms . We phoned up to complain and were thanked for the feedback but a replacement meal was not offered . We were left extremely disappointed and will never use The Clay Oven again .

Be careful new one opened in porters ave under same name we ordered from there instead of here gutted .... as come up first on just eat .... 😡nothing like the real clay oven

The guy who took the order and dealt with the complaint was friendly, ditto the driver. Food arrived within 30 minutes despite the ETA being 55.Will try once more and hopefully I can come back with a much more ++ review.

First time I tried this restaurant from the good reviews online. I have a very stubborn child when it comes to food. Well the food did not disappoint. Food came quick and still hot. Neatly packed and well presented in a cardboard box, receipt and menu taped to it. The food was well cooked, tasted fresh. Vegetables were fresh and meats were succulent and melted in the mouth. Not too pricey either. Will definitely order here again. Will try to attach photos of everything.

Was always a great service but twice now i have had a meal missing from my order and when I call to complain im made to feel like im lieing. Wont be using them again. This has happened to my cousin more then 4 times too. Be aware

We use this take a way on a regular basis. We @ rarely find fault with the service, food or delivery, so have no reason to go elsewhere. On a lot of occasions the delivery time is over estimated and arrives in good time and HOT. Very friendly drivers. Portions are ample and the menu has more than enough choice. If you're looking for a great Indian take a way then I'd say this is the best in Dagenham, and we've tried most of them.

Great food and value. Prompt, polite delivery. Wish they allowed website to open earlier than 5.30PM to input orders ahead of very busy opening time. And allowed you to save previous orders on there to repeat it quickly and improve efficiency.

Amazing food with great portions and taste!...I have 3 fussy kids with different taste but they tried and ate all :-) packaged great as I live out of area so sustained the car journey and still hot. Worth the drive for near future orders and definitely my go to takeaway.

What a lovely find after searching for a local delivery of Indian food.The food is excellent and the portions are a nice size too so much so that I end up with some left over. Food is always delivered on time by friendly delivery drivers. I can not fault clay oven and have recommended clay oven to family and friends.

Stopped off here after a long shift tonight very friendly got comp onion bargies the lamb kahri was pleasantly nice and asked them not to add too much oil surprisingly they did as I asked defo going to be going back to this place.

After phoning them to complain about order i received we were fobbed off and told the manager would probably send us a voucher for a set meal. There was no offer of replacing the order we had or compensating us. Wont be ordering from them again

Just tried for the first time and the food was excellent. Definitely now our go to takeaway curry place and the price is reasonable too. Got a complimentary dish which was a nice touch and the order came in a handy box when collecting.
