Aroma in Barking and Dagenham

My home not far from this place so sometimes after work I like to take my diner from this place. Food is very good! I don’t like pork and too much spices and they understand this fully I appreciate this a lot. They doing absolutely delicious dishes! Soups are fantastic I’m a big fun of them 🙂 and portions are big 🙂

More of a takeaway place....bit dingy to eat there. Cans only no glasses. Service was fast. Food all samey, noodles bit overcooked. Tom Yum was nice and spicy. Thai Veg tasted the same as Tom Yum. But good value for money,.good prices.

This is the worst Chinese I have ever had. The food tasted off and smelled weird. I literally took a few bites and returned the food to the shop, it was that bad. The staff/chefs there are also very rude. It never used to be this bad the food there years ago used to be lovely.

Arrived and closed. Say’s open 12-3pm on google. Not good!

Ordered a takeaway. Overcharged. Food reheated and not nice at all. When I called Aroma they weren’t interested. Will not be ordering from here again

Got takeaway tonight, Terrible food!!.. don't waste your money! - Firstly, Cash only! .. bad omen.. - Bathroom was filthy!! .. disgusting! - Prawn crackers.. stale, gave them to the dog, even he didn't eat - Salt & Pepper ribs, with NO salt and NO Meat!! ??? - Chicken with ginger and spring onion.. revolting! - Noodle + Chicken & Brocolli .. better off to get a jar of Heinz baby food.. Disgusted, will never go again!!

Horrible timing on delivery so very bad they said they would be half an hour and never came when we called they repeatedly cut the call very awful service one star is too good

Authentic Chinese food. Delicious. The outdated decor and seating along with a broken window makes your experience dining here even better. It's true what they say, the best food is always from places you least expect to enjoy!

I know there’s a cost of living crisis!! But how did I order Singapore noddles(rice noddles ) and be given spaghetti noodles that’s used for spaghetti bolognaise, instead of rice noddles. Terrible wouldn’t order from here again.

I visit this Chinese shop regularly food is good but service is terrible had to say my order three times and then he forgot one of my order but to compensate me he gave me portion of spring rolls lol 😂

Absolutely the worst Chinese in Chadwell Heath! Evidence of text messages that they f’d up knowing I’m a pure vegetarian & send me a dish with shrimps in it! Asked for refund & APARANTLY they replaced my food, which they did NOT & have on cctv of their staff trying to smash my door down & when answered, tried to force himself into my home! Steer clear as I’ve had food poisoning since & staff & owner rude!

We love going to eat at Aroma, but rarely order a takeaway curry as we find you often spend the same as you would eating in, and we'd therefore rather eat in. Tonight I was home alone and really fancied a curry. I found a "meal for one" on their menu at £13.95 which had onion bhajis, chicken tikka masala, rice, a side dish (should have been bombay potatoes, but I put a request on my order for motor paneer instead and they duly provided it 👍) a nan bread, poppadoms and chutneys. I thought I might get smaller cartons, to cater for one, but no - everything was full sized and there were FOUR onion bhajis!!! Easily enough for two full meals for me. I ordered online at 20.35 on a Saturday night. My confirmation told me my order would be with me by 21.04, but at 20.55 my doorbell rang. 20 mins from order to delivery was amazing. The food itself was superb. Really fresh, really tasty. Faultless 👌 I highly recommend this restaurant for eat in already, but now I highly recommend them for takeaway too 😋

We enjoyed a fantastic take away last night. Delivery on time and food wonderful. Dansak and Mazala curries were first class. Our favourite henceforth. Well done to all the staff.

Very nice food, had to wait about 15 mins even though we pre-ordered. Had no delivery driver, so had to pick up. Parking can be awkward.

I keep going to different Indian restaurants around the area and I keep getting disappointed. I looked at Aroma and read some of the reviews . Most were positive but some were very bad. This made me curious so I decided to eat there. I honestly cannot find any faults with this restaurant in terms of service and food. The decor is a little plain but the staff were friendly and attentive and the food was wonderful. I am rather picky with Indian food and I have eaten in a lot of Indian restaurants and I’d like to say that this is one of my favourites to date. The food was fresh and traditional and so tasty I would definitely recommend the food and will definitely come here again.

We first ate in this restaurant 28 years ago and loved it up until we moved away from Romford 18 years ago. We thought we'd go back for old times sake while we were visiting recently and we weren't disappointed! The same old quality with great curries and attentive staff. We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in. Book a table, you won't regret it.

Been a loyal customer of Aroma for a very long time. Order an Indian takeaway once Month have tried all types of dishes and they never fail to please. Chicken dishes chunky and tasty. My favourite is the Chicken Bhuna, Mushroom pilla and a keema nan. Lovely!!

The nicest Indian I’ve had! During Eat Out To Help Out we decided to try Aroma and the customer service was great, the food was lovely and it was great value!! They are now continuing the scheme into September - and we shall definitely be back! We even tried it as a takeaway recently via Uber eats and it was fantastic.

First the delivery was late ,second the the chicken wings were burnt and tasteless, third the chips were soggy , fourth the curry sauce leaked everywhere , this Chinese is not the same going back eighteen years ago

I’ve been ordering from Aroma for 5 years and we’re always happy with the service! I’ve tried a few different Indian Takeaways in the area but always come back to Aroma. Delivery service is great, and our food always arrives hot. We’ve eaten in the restaurant on one occasion and that was also very pleasant. The staff are friendly, polite and service is fast. Their Peshwari Naan is just the best!! Will certainly continue to order many more curries from Aroma.

Must've changed owners. Totally different taste and quality. I ordered crispy fish with salt and pepper. The lady who took the order had no idea what it was. So I just ordered salt and pepper squid. Stale, old and very chewy. I know many Chinese take-aways have to cook and store things such as items in batter and I don't mind that but the squid I had must've been in the freezer for a couple of years. A real shame because I use to love it here.

I used to use this all the time as I worked close by..Always rang them when I worked weekends.Staff alwys very hepful.Having a little bar was a;ways nice as they sdDrambuie..

Food very good as was the service .

My chap and I fancied a curry this evening and wanted to take advantage of my Tastecard. Searching nearby, we found Aroma offers 241 on starters and mains and, while they request 2hrs notice to book a table on the Tastecard app, upon calling tonight they could accommodate us straight away 👍 The menu is delightful, full of different dishes - many including duck. We had poppadoms and chutneys (of course!) while we decided. I went for my fave starter, prawns on puree. When it came it was an incredibly generous portion, piping hot and utterly delicious 😋 My chap went for a starter he'd not come across before, fish in green pepper. An unusual dish but equally tasty 👍 For our main course we shared a lamb biryani (not lamb tikka, as the gentleman taking care of us pointed out this can become dry when cooked in the rice - very good of him to tip us off and suggest a cheaper option without the tikka!), and I was delighted when the vegetable curry sauce it comes with had lots of potato in it, yum!! We also shared a prawn and duck special main curry dish which was very nice and a sag paneer dish which was divine 😇 To complete our main meal we shared a garlic naan which was easily the lightest, fluffiest, freshest naan I've ever eaten ❤️ Some of our main course needed to be packed up for my chap's lunch tomorrow, as we were a bit beaten, but not for lack of trying!! To finish the meal we were brought hot towels and mint chocolates, and I was even presented with a lovely red rose when the (wonderfully reasonable) bill was brought to us🌹 All in all a fabulous meal with great service for a brilliant price. You can't say fairer than that - go go go!!! ☺️

Ordered chrispy shredded beef food was anything but very dissatisfied

For me, best Chinese joint in Chadwell Heath. This is someone who has lived in Chadwell Heath for almost 20 years and has tried everywhere else.

I have ordered from here for What I would say has to be around The 10 years mark and would always say it’s great and have sent a lot of customers to the shop, however last order came and was different to previous times, completely different sauce and ingredients used and when when ordering the man on the phone seems to have no clue of what it actually is even after giving their menu number. I am then told that I’m wrong and it’s always cooked this way, clearly I’ve been imagining my orders for the past 10 years. definitely new owner or staff as has gone down hill dramatically. I would no longer recommend and they have lost a long standing loyal customer

Tucked away at the old brewery end of Romford High Street, this place doesn’t have the footfall that it deserves. The food is good value for money, and while the lamb in the Achar Gosht was maybe a wee bit on the chewy side, the Chicken Delight lived up to its name and the Tandoori King Prawn was delicious. Special mention goes to our waiter, Mohammed, who has to be one of the politest waiters by whom I’ve been served. And anywhere that brings you a complementary Amaretto after your meal can’t be bad!

No flavour tasteless very disappointed coming here year new people do not waste your money TERRIBLE

I’ve been having my Chinese takeaway from here for a number of years and it had always been really good and very tasty. Today I had my usual and it was awful completely tasteless. Don’t know if they’ve changed hands or just changed how the food is made but feel I’ll now have to try one of the other Chinese takeaways in the area. I’m very disappointed

I have been ordering from Aroma for a while now the food is always great! I ordered the cripsy squid tonight and asked them to leave the lid off as food can soggy, and it worked like a treat. Thank you for taking this on board the food was delicious

Aroma is a small and modest Chinese eatery but the food quality is excellent. Generous portions, delicious food and really good prices is what awaits you at Aroma, so go on...give them a go!

Best chinese cn the world tastiest noodles ever bit the guy who takes the telephone orders now does not speak or understand english the omly word he knows is ok ...which is very frustrating and did result in a messed up order! So would be great if they got an english speaker but apart from that we love it!

I ordered salt & chilli shredded chicken and egg fried rice...the chicken had sugar all over it and no chilli!! Apparently they make this dish with sugar at this shop...I don’t understand! They made me a fresh one with less sugar but I had to cut my losses and leave the food. Friendly service but the food is lacking.

We regularly orders from here, either as a family or individually and the food is always spot on. Absolutely delicious! To the point I compare all over Chinese take aways to aroma and none have quite hit the spot like this one.

I ordered special fried rice with curry sauce. The rice was bland no flavour whatsoever, they gave me only ONE prawn ONE !!! The curry sauce was like really thick paste and smelled so weird. Worst chinse place iv been to.

£7 for two egg fried rice and the crispy chilli beef was ideal for pebble dashing. There was no chips one hour before closing

Diabolical take away we just had Cold ribs really cold asked for shredded duck didn't get that was dry and cold and chips not cooked this is a real shame as used to be the best chinese take away in town

Have tried for 35 minutes to get through to order but persistently engaged. Left it for 15 minutes before trying again & was hung up on, so had pizza instead!

Great food but please hire more delivery drivers so the wait time not so long . Ordered bang on 5pm was told 45 minutes ... it's 6.35 now and food still not here

Went there in a group of 12 people. Staff were very friendly and food very good. highly recommended. Would go again.

We order from here every week and it has slowly been going down hill. We ordered over the phone for delivery and was waited for an hour and 20mins for it to be delivered. When the food got here it was cold and all the meat in some of the dises was dry and seemed like it had been reheated before delivery. Think we are going take our business elsewhere in future.

For the second time running ordered by phone and told 25 minutes for collection , fair enough. But 25 minutes later was told food just being cooked so I waited another 30 minutes and when I complained it turned out my order had been in a warm bag since I got there. Tried to complain but the language barrier seemed work in there favour. Diabolical service and a shame as it used to be a good takeaway. Won't be my money there again.

The food is very good and so is the portioning. But I just called them and this rude lady put down the phone without me even speaking. It says it closes at 3 and it only just turn two. Such liars. Respecting your customers is the key, disrespectful!

Been here a couple of times and the food was ok so my other half and I went again last night. The waiters are very friendly and helpful but oh my god the food was dreadful. I had chicken Tikka which I sent back once for being under cooked and had a synthetic texter, the oil could be tasted from the meat samosas and the onion bhajis and the curry I had did not have a lot of flavour. I have to say the nan bread was great but as the saying goes man does not live by bread alone! I can safely say we shall not be eating here again. Very disappointing.

Been here a couple of times and being someone who eats out often I have to say how pleasing and considerate the waiters are. The food smells good and tastes good with very reasonable prices. They also do a quiz and curry night once a month which gets booked up fast. Looking forward to my next meal and would recommend everyone to try it out for themselves.

Best Chinese restaurant in the area, i've tried the others but always return to Aroma. Staff are polite and deliveries are always at the time given. Best ever.

This is a lovely restaurant for family, friends or to just get a bite to eat. The price of the food is great seeing as the food is so nice, its mostly oriental type food so I recommend if you like oriental.

We eat here for lunches/evening tea, you get a wide range of one plate dishes with noodles/rice from about £3.50 to £4.80 depending if you have chicken/beef or Duck/king prawns. Have a pot of Chinese tea with your meal it goes perfectly. They deliver and the food is always tasty and hot

Been here a few times now and without exception every time has been superb! Terrific food and waiters that couldn't be more attentive and helpful....Oh, and if you can find better prices for the quality of food in this place then let me know!! Excellent...John (Aveley)
