Went here with the lads from work midweek so it was pretty quiet. The food here was great, really tasty and traditional and lots to choose on the menu. The service was 1st class and the place although a little small was decorated really well.Great value to worked out around £20 per head, you do need to take your own drinks as they are unlicensed. Back in my 'day' (the late 80's, 90's and early 2k), Blackwood Rd had the usual town/village shops. Walks to school including a stop at Taylors News for sweets, chippy tea, hair cut, pharmaceutical support... Roll on 30 years later, and something that could have come a lot lot sooner (when I was walking the streets, on my way home after a night out at the local public houses when turning '18' in the late 90's) there is a restaurant. An indian restaurant. Visiting parents, as now live in Lincolnshire, and they took me here... Service; fantastic, very personal, great conversation. Location; 'hidden' away, and parking could be an issue if early doors. Drinks; unlicensed, so BYOB. Wine for me. Food; when 'testing' an Indian restaurant I will always go with the chefs/restaurants 'own' Jalfrazi. If its good, I know the rest of the menu will be good. Lots of experience here 😉. No complaints from parents, nor myself. Price; absolutely spot on for portion size. Lamb Tikka Sylheti Jalfrazi. Not over powered with chilli, just a nice warmth on the back of the tongue, perfection. As well as the starters, all was beautiful. Highly recommended, and parents say take out/delivery is spot on too. Those that know me, you know I like my curry. If i say its good, its very good.

A favourite of mine and my partners. My partner wouldn't even consider Indian food a couple of years ago (Russian, bought up on meat and potato). Spice Inn has become a fave of both of ours. Rarely any issues or waiting, a pleasant service and always happy to correct any issues that do arise (though rare, it happens. We're all human). The chicken bhuna is delicious and the shami kebabs are a favorite with every order. Thank you guys for a great service and great food!

Always happy to try and find a vacant table and add/remove spice or other ingredients to suit tastes, food is hot, fresh and tasty. Take aways can be a little less exciting but then that is case when food is bagged and transported. Personally I always go an collect then there is no chance of it being late. Good value for money.

We are locals but wanted to eat at home tonight. So We ordered 5 different dishes and all were bland and the 'very hot dish was more on the slightly spicy scale. Garlic naan had a slight garlic tint but was basically plain naan. The 2 other curries had whole peeled tomatoes that seemed to have missed the flavouring/roasting process. Just fresh from a can, very odd.My biriyani was more like a salty veg soup with gravy and was lacking any curry flavour at all. the first time I've ever left a curry. It really was foul.If it was a £20 takeaway then I could dismiss it but it was a £40 order and we had 4 poppadoms and the smallest pots of onions and yoghurt dip, no chutneys of anything.. seemed stingy.Overall Very Disappointing.

Why does it have to be so inconsistent?Last weeks takeaway was great - god food, really tasty. This week, it was terrible - rubbery naans, lifeless rice, and a chicken korma that was chicken-free (it was lamb), and tasted nothing like a korma - it was inedible. FWIW, I didn’t like the other dish I’d ordered either - though that was partly down to me, and partly down to the lamb tikka which was gristly and tough.

Poor quality compared to Streetly Balti. Madras tastes like a combination of lemon and curry powder. Rice very watery. Garlic naan, slightly larger than a tea plate, witn no garlic applied. . Not good value at all. We only tried this place again since it was closed down by public health in 2015. We wouldn't have gone back if it wasn't for a 2 for 1 deal, which turned out to be as bogus as their effort to produce authentic Indian cuisine.

A couple of months ago, a gentleman who claimed to be the manager of Spice Inn, Streetly, visited our home, he was promoting a two for one offer on all main meals at Spice Inn. To take advantage of this offer, we purchased a membership card for £20. We hadn't used this establishment since it had been previously closed down by public health, but with an offer like this thought it would be silly not to try them again. Well this evening we ordered our take away, when we fetched it we were told the offer did not apply to main meals as the offer was sold to us. You wouldn't have minded if the meal was worth the full asking price but it wasn't.... Complete rip off.

Mis-selling - Set meal deal not honoured and rude waiterMy family of four ate at Spice Inn on Thursday at 7.15pm. This was a special treat to celebrate my two sons’ achievements at school. My sons chose the venue – even though we had already had a takeaway from Spice Inn six days previously! As regular, local takeaway users of Spice Inn, we have also enjoyed meals at the restaurant. We know the food is delicious and high quality.I pre-booked a table by telephone and double checked the Sunday to Thursday meal deal – a set banquet meal of starter, main, accompaniment and vegetable side dish for £10.95, was available. When we arrived at 7.10pm, there was one other couple dining. The waiter took our four adult meal orders. He asked what our starters, mains and accompaniments would be. We explained we all wanted the meal deal and, as the vegetable side dish is just one set dish and we were not asked for this at the time, we assumed this was because that meal is the same for everyone, regardless. After we finished our main meal, I enquired about our side dishes for all four of us, which I assumed would be coming next. I asked if the restaurant could box this up if possible (a service the curry houses in Boldmere have happily done for us). However, the reaction of the waiter was not positive and he seemed agitated and defensive, about our request. He said: You want another dish? No. You should have asked for this at the time of ordering’ He acted as though we were ordering new, separate dishes. I explained we would like the complementary side dish boxed up if possible. Again, his response was reactive and he was shaking his head. He seemed to think we wanted additional, new meals, which seems odd given the set meal deal, which we have previously enjoyed in its entirety as had my father the previous week – complete with the one set vegetable side dish.To clarify, I requested a copy of the menu which clearly shows the simple meal deal. Eventually, the waiter reluctantly passed the menu to me and I pointed to the deal which clearly showed ALL courses. He continued to scowl and said that he couldn’t possibly do this now and that we should have asked at the time (even though he never asked us what we wanted at the time, yet had asked us what we wanted for every other course). I explained that he did not ask us at the time, so we naturally assumed the same dish would appear for all of us. He said the chef could not cook this now, which was surprising given a) it is part of the set deal and b) the restaurant was empty apart from two other people. We offered to eat the meals at the table if they were unable to box this up, but still we were met with an air of inconvenience. In the middle of the fuss, my sons looked uncomfortable. It was embarrassing and upsetting – this implication that we were asking for a ‘freebie’ when it was actually the other way around – the restaurant was not honouring a set course that we were paying for and making us feel like scroungers. This was meant to be a celebratory meal to remember, a chance to relax outside of work, not to face conflict for just asking for an included course!Wanting to go home to avoid a scene we told the waiter to leave it. Had my children not been present I would have expected to receive the dish or a reduction in cost – along with an apology.Ironically, my food – vegetable samosa, Vegetable Balti and garlic naan came to £10.95. This was actually MORE expensive than had I ordered the items individually! Had the side dish been honoured, then my ‘deal’ would have been worthwhile. Even when we called the waiter out, we were charged the full price of four set meal deals, £43.80, despite not receiving four side dishes.I am writing to highlight this poor practice and treatment so that other patrons are not deceived by this blantant mis-selling or treated so poorly. I cannot wonder if this deception was intended as we were never given the opportunity to order those dishes and then treated badly/inappropriately, accusatory and unprofessionally when doing so.In the past week, we have spent £75 at Spice Inn. This is very short sighted of the business. Not only has it now lost a regular, local customer, but this will extend to friends and family. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and this feels deceitful and confrontational on a night that was meant to be a family celebration.

After a member of an advertising company came to my house to promote spice inn who spice in have hired to gather more customers. They advertised a card which was £20 to buy which meant that if you brought this card when you buy 2 main meals at the restaurant you get the least expensive one for free. Once we went to the restaurant and was presented with the bill we were told that the card was not valid as we did not order starters and the card was only valid if you purchased starters! However this was not told to us when we brought the card and if it was we would not have brought it as it wouldn’t be of any use to me and my family. After questioning the manager as it didn’t state on the card either that you had to order starters for the card to be valid only that you had to purchase 2 main means and then the least expensive was free. The manager informed me that “it should of been printed on to the card” this is not acceptable as being a manager of a business you should be checking the information that is on a card promoting your business before it goes out to the public!! Therefore I feel like this has been false advertisement and who knows how many other people they have coned into buying this card!!

A straightforward BYOB (bring your own beer) Indian restaurant. Friendly staff and good food at a very reasonable price (the Tikka Platter starter is very nice).

Sunil was rude and and aggressive when we had food and had little to no respect for their customers, my partner felt very threatened and was uncomfortable and had to leave
