The royal oak Indian cuisine in Walsall

Can't give atmosphere any stars as had a delivery... Probably the best Indian delivery I've ever had ! Tikka pathia was hot and sour as it supposed to be, piping hot along with great mushroom rice and Chapatti. Wife had tikka saag and hers was perfect heat as requested. Only gripe was the fries, I'd prefer fatter chips but again was hot so couldn't really complain. I've eaten in here once before but I'd say the take-out was even better. I usually use moghul palace but it's shut Mondays, won't be going back there after this wonderful experience... Credit to the chef, keep up the good work.

Our first visit with my family, we were pleasantly greeted by a staff member and lead to our table which we booked online, we ordered our starters and main meals which we all enjoyed, the decor and surroundings were very attractive and the environment we found to be very comfortable. The Royal Oak Indian restaurant i would highly recommend for a very good curry meal.

Second time I've visited here, lovely place, very relaxed environment. Food is outstanding and the staff are exceptional, very friendly, helpful and humorous at times. Highly recommended.

Terrible customer service. Used to order from here at least once per week, sometimes twice per week. We had an unforeseen emergency regarding our very young child, after placing and paying for our order online through their website. So we asked to cancel our order over the phone. Called exactly 10 mins after order was placed, and was told they won’t refund us, because it had technically been over 10mins since the order was placed. The phone called last 2 minutes, so total time was 12 mins after order. I thought this was appalling customer service, given the fact we were loyal customers and had never canceled an order in the many years we’ve used them. Will never use them again on principle. Will never recommend on principle.

i have always been a picky eater and had never really tried many curries until The Royal Oak. their vegetable dhansak has changed my life for the better - if i was on death row and had to pick a last meal, they better hit up The Royal Oak because they are the best in the business. i have dined in and i have had takeaways. both are life changing. great friendly staff, super clean, idk about the price because usually my stepdad buys it but i’m sure its all good and fair shout out to their mango chutney

Place has gone down hill in the last year, after the Christmas dinner just gone, when my dad was a rushed into hospital and died a week later, my mum and my partner still went to the meal as dad wasn't that bad that day, they still charged for his meal even know they take a deposit for people not turning up, and trying to explain he was in hospital. Tonight ordered lamb tikka pathia which is supposed to be a little sweet and spicy, I took one bite and it was like eating sweat and sour dish, not interested in refunding us, as I don't want another dish from there. More interested in taking money but not customers satisfaction. Will avoid this place from here on.

Visited this lovely restaurant for the first time 28/5/2024 and had a lovely couple of hours. The food was excellent as was the service. The staff are pleasant, particularly Ray. We will definitely be making regular visits.

Visited this evening was our first visit and was looking forward to it! On arrival was a little worried as food rating was 4, however decor was lovely and staff very welcoming! We ordered lamb mushroom balti, garlic chilli chicken with rice, cheese and chilli nann with chips! Had poppadoms to start they were fine! Our food came my husbands garlic chilli chicken was in a bowl, mine came in a balti bowl and i was given a plate, i added my balti, rice and chips however when i cut into my meat it was chicken!? I called a waiter over and said it wasnt what i ordered he said but is it ok?! No i explained I ordered lamb! He took it away and later returned with my lamb balti! I explained that my chips and rice were on the previous plate, he later returned with rice which i can only explain as looking like it has been tipped out of a take way box with the square shape still on top and looked nothing like our previous rice! And no additional chips! When i said the rice was no good he replied "lovely thank you" in the meantime my husband has finished his meal! The lamb balti was terrible tough dry lamb! I went over and spoke to the manager away from my table explained what has happened, i said we were happy to pay for our drinks but not the food! He stressed my husband had eaten his so it needed to be paid for! I explained we could of just left but i was happy to pay for drinks! After a while he said don't pay for anything! Disappointed first time ever I have never paid for a meal! Positives staff friendly and lovely setting! Please sort out the food could be a gold mine! ☺️

I’ve come here a couple of times in the past and enjoyed it, so I’m sad to be posting this. I came in a group of 4 last night. Two of the group had lamb and both have had food poisoning today. The other two of us are fine as we had prawn and chicken, so presuming there was some dodgy lamb used and contaminated the other two dishes.

Ordered around 60 pounds worth of food the biggest regret was going to this place food was horrible not full cooked either had a bite of it then the rest was left they should be ashamed selling food like that also came cold if I could give a 0 star rating I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time here

Only if there was a option to leave zero stars rating. The food and service was terrible. We ordered a take away it was cold. The naan was burnt and dry. The food was bland. We ordered 2 lots of butter chicken and required one to be spicy, they did not complete the order correctly, as they didn't cook a spicy butter chicken. We rang and complained told us to take pictures and send them. Done that, they rang us back and gave a lecture instead of resolving the problem. This was the first time and the last time I will order from here.

Definitely within my top 5 restaurants in the west midlands. Prices are really good, food is amazing and staff are very welcoming. This restaurant is a must

This is our go-to Indian restaurant. Staff are always friendly & accommodating. Food is consistently good & always hot on arrival. Even when super busy, you aren't rushed into ordering.

Never again! Dont get me wrong, the staff were lovely and the food tasted nice at the time, however, within 1 hour of getting home, the obvious food poisoning symptoms started. Spent the entire night in the bathroom chucking my guts up. It is all I had to eat all day so I know it was this restaurant.

Quite empty, seated quickly. Food was a long wait. Honestly, food was a little too pretentious for wallsall in my opinion. Starters came out. Dynamite prawn, only 2 prawns per portion. Mains were decently sized, just bland though no flavour to be honest. Staff are friendly and attentive, decor is nice.

Really great restaurant. It wasn't overly busy inside. Service was good, not over attentive and when you need someone, no one is looking around to grab their attention. The only downside I'd say is they had a closed dessert place next door that said is opening soon but they said the same last year. There were no desserts on the main menu but after we finished eating, we weren't offered any extra dessert menu and were told after that they did have one. That was a shame because we probably would have ordered. Also their signage outside says they do a Sunday buffet which sounds great but when we asked they don't do it anymore, in that case they should remove the sign as it is misleading. All in all, food was tasty and great atmosphere.

Food was very dry and small portions and slightly expensive for what it is and didn't have strongbow on tap and tasted like jarred produce no smell of cooking we had a table if four and was only set up for 3 had to ask for the other stuff I think it may have changed hands but sadly put me off won't be going back

Had a delicious meal at The Royal oak tonight, for my birthday as a family of 4.The naan was so nice as was the chicken curry. My family all enjoyed their meals too. Will definitely be returning soon. Thanks guys!

It was the first time dining at the The Royal Oak Indian Cuisine. Me and my boyfriend had drinks , starters, and main. We loved the food, and the decor in there was so lovely, and lovely lighting which gave a relaxing atmosphere. Staff was friendly and the price was very reasonable. We are definitely going to dine here again, and try there takeaways 😋

Poor service, food was OK when it eventually arrived but was barley warm. 40 minutes wait between starter and main. We had the 4 course special menu but didn't wait for the 4th course.

I've had regular deliveries from this restaurant for quite a while now, beautiful food, never had a single complaint. I noticed tonight a new delivery driver, very polite and friendly, a credit to your excellent company.

First time visiting and will definitely go again. Plenty of choice on the menu. Food was some of the best we've had and the staff were very freindly. Probably worth booking a table rather than just walk in at the weekend. We went at 6pm and it was fairly quiet, by the time we left it was almost full.

Booked a table for 5.30 on the 25th of Feb for a family meal , We have never been to this curry house and wasn't disappointed we were shown to our table as soon as we went in the waiter came over ad took our drinks order and we had some poppadoms. We then ordered 2 chicken pakora starters , then for mains we had the mixed grill 2 chicken massala , chips , nann bread and bombay potatoes. We didn't wait long for our food and it was hot when it came to the table the place is really clean and staff are friendly food reasonably price would recommend this place

1st time I have ordered from here and definitely the last time too! Sloppy tasteless balti with hardly any meat served with cold keema and chips. Most went in the bin. Not for me, sorry!

Absolute waste of money. Ordered prawn balti which was cold and only had 3 prawns. Saagwalla was cold. Chips was raw and cold. Poppadoms was greasy. All we done was dip the keema naan into the juice of the curries. I called to inform them how I found tonight's order to be spoken to rudely and basically called a liar! Wont use them again waste of £30. Very disappointed. Many complaints on Google reviews / just eat reviews tonight so it isn't just me. Please don't waste your money.

Very poor food chicken curry was very salty and unbeatable completed and was ask if I wanted another said no went to pay the bill and was charged for the curry I didn't eat then they reduced it by £2 I SAID THAT WAS NOT GOOD ENOGHT he then said I had eaten 4 pieces of chicken out of th6 which was a lie I tried a pieces and the wife tried it very bad staff also no larger as beer was flat and only diet coke avalble would not eat ere again not just me five of my family said my curry was terrible

Start of coke was flat had to change it to diet then no carling had to have some other brand that was terible Very poor food chicken curry very salltey complained ask if I wanted another one I said no as it had put me off then as I went to pay they still charge me for it then reduce it by £2 saying I had eaten the 4 out of the 6 pieces chicken which only 2 pieces was missing as my wife tried it not happy at all would not eat ere agin very poor staff. (Also tried to say no salt in the curry) only positive was the chips.

We went with friends and it was ok. I have a dislike for restaurants where there is smell of overused cooking oil and there was that smell here. That said the king prawns were great, they butterfly them and there was a good portion.

Booked the table online, greeted on entry to very festive atmosphere. We had the meal deal which was excellent quality and the portion was good too! Oh and really quick service!

Discussed with the tasting ov the food even sent out the wrong food and denied it.

Seven of us visited for my daughters 11th Bday, she and her brother had Fish and Chips, but the Fish was solid. Neither of them ate it. We told the waiter, and the manager, but they refused to amend the bill, stating, "I tried it, and we've sold so many Fish today, it must have been OK". Well, that's shocking customer service, and they've lost all future orders from us, and for the newly opened dessert shop next door too. Shame. We're not the kind of family to ever complain, but felt this time it was called for. Just think, for not even taking one of the fish off the £130 bill, they've lost probably a couple hundred pounds per year. While I'm at it too, they had a limited number of wines available, no J2O's, and the menu I first opened literally had sticky food inside it. We'll be taking our meals elsewhere from now on. Major lesson in Customer Service required

A warm welcome, always best to book, although I'm sure they do walk-ins. Good varied menu, chef's specialities, standard baltis and great side dishes. Lovely fluffy chapattis and naans. Can be a bit slow when large groups are in, but it's acceptable. Worth a visit. Licenced, but a couple of liveners at the nearby #Manor Arms wouldn't go amiss.

So we had a very rare evening out without our baby, ordered our food and drinks. popadoms and starter arrived ate them taste was satisfactory I proceeded to tidy plates when I lifted tray up there was a massive piece of chewed up chewing gum on the side of the plate and on the paper napkin covering it 🤮🤢🤮🤢 I felt physically sick . Staff apologised but I just don't think they considered how I felt and how disgusted I was .....paid for the starter and drinks and left .... 3 hours after and I still feel sick 😫 🤮🤢🤮🤢

Mixed grill got half a leg of chicken and dry chicken with the tiniest sheesh kebab. There was more onions than mixed grill and no salad to go with it. The sauce was so bland i get better mint yoghurt out of a bottle! Had high hopes but highly disappointed. First and last time ordering from here which is a shame.

Just thought I'd go and have a look at this place and see how clean it is inside and out before deciding wither to go for a meal or not.... To my surprise when I inspected the bin area out the back of the kitchen I presume. The bins were covered from top to bottom in living wiggling maggots.. Then going into the restaurant I found hairs upon tables that were "just" laid out... Well put off this place and will make sure the health and hygiene services gear about it so they can get an actual proper food and hygiene rating......

Visited the Royal Oak with a friend on a Wednesday evening. First impressions last! Lovely venue nice food great service from Naz and Riaz . Even better value on a Wednesday with the banquet offer. Nice place great service will definitely visit again highly recommended.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been too. Staff were friendly a helpful nothing was too much trouble food was lovely and well prepared. We visited as a group of 7 everyone had different starters and mains and nobody had any complaints definitely will re visit.

Honestly so disappointed, ordered from here after seeing all of the 5* reviews. Ordered a Chicken Balti, which was ok, it was just really greasy, however my partner had the Prawn Passanda and that was really watery as well as bland, there was hardly any prawns in there and any that was we're really small, smaller than the Tesco value frozen ones we've had, so wasn't impressed with that for the price. The chips were soggy and come with burnt bits in, overall it wasn't a pleasent experience and were not fussy eaters in general, unfortunately we will have to miss from ordering again

Ordered a takeaway using new website. Food arrived over an hour early. Chips £1.90 not even the size of a McDonald's small fries. (I counted 27 fries). Ordered keema Naan got sent plain. I called the restaurant to basically be called a liar and told that chip portion hadnt changed in 2 years. I have used this restaurant both eat in and takeaway since it opened. The naan bread was half the size of when you eat in. The manager was rude. The previous takeaway was stone cold again I called the restaurant and received a unconcerned approach. The last sit in meal I waited 20 minutes after everyone elses food for mine to arrive again cold. I shall never order food from this restaurant again.
