The best restaurants serving Indian food in England

Our favourite Indian restaurant of all time. Been coming for 18 years and the staff are all like family! Special shout out to Ryan and Mr Ali! As you'll see from my other reviews we eat A LOT of indian food but no matter where we go, nothing compares to the high quality dishes served here. I'd recommend to everyone.

Ordered chicken tikka biryani and tandoori mixed starter and it was pathetic overall. Especially, biryani was third class. Sad to say but this was one of the worst biryani I ever tasted. This can’t be the place if you really want to taste the real Indian food

An interestingly sad experience to be sure. My friends and I had set on having a curry in clapham with one of our friends giving it a reference. We heard about the byob rule - fine to us - and wanted to get a beer before going in. When we went by the restaurant before and a worker really wanted us to come in and sit for a meal who right after we had bought our beers. After buying them and bringing them to the restaurant, we were met with quite hostile attitude. The new worker made a point of us having to order quickly and leave as they were closing. We were a bit shocked since the previous worker, who we did not see after, said we should come in and have a curry. At one point, one of the workers thought our friend had finished his beer, knocked over the bottle by mistake and then shook it afterwards to see if there was anymore which there was quite a bit of beer in it, very unprofessional. To top it all off, they started letting in more customers to sit and eat curry, so I guess the closing time was incorrect! Google had informed us the closing time was later than the workers had said to us, but they were adamant and walked away when we questioned it. Our food was unfortunately average, particularly our friend who had lamb as he said it was quite chewy. Overall, I hope the manner of the employees does more than the food could as it really was unprofessional.

A nice evening from start to finish. Food was fantastic and waiters were friendly. Lovely time.

Three of us ate here on a Saturday night. We arrived at 7.30pm and got the last available table. The menu is just different to any that we have seen in other similar restaurants. We had 3 different starters and mains and they were all superb. Just over £100 for 3 of us with a couple of beers each felt like great value for money as well.

We were greeted by Hassan last night who care to make us feel very at home. He made some good suggestions from the menu and enquired as to the heat factor we enjoyed . The pompadoms arrived warm on hot plates and the chutneys were very fresh and tasty We had the king prawn special and a lovely chicken mango dish the naans were soft and freshly made the garlic mushroom rice sublime. The wine list was very reasonable We really enjoyed great service and beautiful food thank you Hassan Tandoori Tim

Wow! Qué experiencia tan increíble. No es tu restaurante indio habitual, diferente a todo lo que he experimentado antes. Platos muy sabrosos y auténticos con sabor. Los lados eran increíbles también, así como la cerveza artesanal! Servicio atento.

Maybe a Friday night is not the best of times, but I was so disappointed. We'd booked early (1845) so beat the rush that shortly ensued, but a quality restaurant should be able to maintain its standards at all times. The SERVICE was EXCELLENT and GRACIOUS, but the food was ABYSMAL - no nose, no taste, no fire at all - I ordered a Royal Venison starter and an Ayre (Catfish) Jalfrazi main - both totally insipid. There were just eight small pieces of fish completely swamped by onions and nondescript goo with no detectable spices as descibed. I would call this this place THE CON MERCHANTS - and I certainly don't recognise it from the website descriptions or some of the many rave revues. Please tell me you should have have done better - 07730 982 809 - ask for TONY

Occasionaly one comes across a place that just oozes sytle and sofistication.

Ordered takeaway. 40-minute wait in the restaurant. Poor service average food.

We were cloud 9 and it was still bad. Pani puri was good, everything else was… distasteful. Not real naan,

Food was great, all freshly cooked.

Sadly average. The starters were really good but the mains were lacking flavour. Oily breads as well. No table water provided. Told waiter my food wasn’t great but nothing was done about it.

Had a lovely time. Thank you Ameesha for hosting us . It was lovely experince!

Superb , meat karahi best I’ve ever had , sizzler starter for 2 was excellent, great food service & value , 5 stars……………..
