Dosa House in Dartford

Never order a Delivery from this restaurant!!!! Even though we preordered our order, it was delayed by more than 1 hour from the original delivery time. It's happened to me before too and seems to be a regular trend. I live the food from here but this delivery wait has driven me crazy many times.

Foods are freshly prepared and very tasty. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Lamprise is the special food on Saturdays.

Veg fried rice is best enjoyed fresh. Ghee roast is not tasty and neither is the sambar. I suggest dining in instead of opting for takeaway due to the taste.

Food was not delivered as ordered. Manager (Sonik) was unable to empathise or respond with any food customer skills. Extremely disappointed

First time trying, thought it would be something slightly different so gave it a go. I don’t know if it’s me or the food but one dip was basically like cold little soup?? The main dosa was undercooked and very very doughy, and the chicken was dry. The other dips tasted very bland . It was a strange experience, was hoping for the best but it really wasn’t nice for me. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re treating yourself and don’t want to waste money , sorry !

Disrespectfully small portion size, false advertising

Excellent Sri Lankan restaurant. It isn’t the same as your generic curry-house, it has numerous tasty specialities including the eponymous dosas. I have had both takeaway and eat in, both are splendid, but the food is superior eating in as the dosa tends to lose its crispiness when packaged and transported for a takeaway.

Ordered on the phone I live like 3 mins away from the shop buy by the time I got home the food was dry I was told I would get a salad there was maybe 10 grams off salad given do obviously check that one keema naan also very dry I wasn't late I was early and waited for the food there was flavour but it wasn't great

It is so good to be able to enjoy authentic South Indian/Sri Lankan food. We went as a group of ten and enkoyed the Mutton parcels, Seth Methi and Tandoori starters - all were excellent. For the main course we went for the Masala Dosa and Mutton Biryani. The Masala Dosas were the real thing, large but light and crispy at the edges. The four sauces were good, the potoes in the centre were good but perhaps a little softer than I would prefer. But there were no complaints! The lamb pieces in the Biryani were soft and tasty and overall the texture was perfect (not too dry). Our South Indian friends go here regularly and give it the thumbs up. I will be back to sample the menu more widely. The prices were very reasonable - about £25 per head including delicious mango lassi.

I had book tablet for 10 people today. .had very bad experience, only one girl was swring and talking orders. another member of staff don't know what they doing .place was fully book .shame staff don't know anything.they all are confused 😖

I have been to this restaurant quite a few times in the past two years and am amazed that it is not in the top three Indian restaurants in or near Dartford. It has a friendly ambience, friendly and knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices and, above all, absolutely delicious food

Had a nice meal here before going to see a show at the Orchard. Marisa had a paneer masala dosa and I had the house special. Under £20 for the food which is a reasonable price. Nice setting inside as well.

The restaurant has rapidly gained popularity since it is the only South Indian diner in the area. The place though now is struggling to scale, with food preparation and service both suffering.

The veg rotti did not come with anything but plain on its own. Bit disappointedz. The remaining items is amazing.

Great staff, really helpful. All of the food was gorgeous. Portions were huge, they offered us the leftovers to take home, but we were going to the theatre. That was not a problem, they bagged the food up and we collected it on our way home. Great service

Went to see Al Murray Friday night and caught the aroma from this place as I walked past. Instantly decided a takeaway was in order after the show. As a Gravesender I'm no stranger to Indian food. We have 3 superb Pubjabi restaurants but no Sri Lankan. The chap in the restaurant was very helpful and help me choose what yo have from the menu. It was utterly delicious. I'm back this coming weekend to see a Tina Turner cover act. I'll be back for my 2nd ever Sri Lankan after the show definately.

Went to the place with family around 3pm on 28th Apr 2024 following our previous pleasant experience. But this time the waitress was not in a good mood and was bluntly rude in her responses to our requests. A person dining in the next table had to ask the waitress if she's troubled as it was very evident in the waitress' behavior. Food was tasty and good - Garlic Naan, Masala Dosa, Parotta, Paneer butter Masala. The lamb chops was over colored with red. The strong red Colour left my fingers after 2 days. Medhu vada was clearly microwaved. Masala tea wasn't properly filtered. We were getting pieces of chopped elaichi while sipping. I would prefer not to drive for 20 miles and get the experience what we got this time. Will avoid.

Nothing special about this food. Dosa’s were quite good, samosas are the smallest I ever saw, papadom smashed into small pieces, and if you thinking to order onion salad I’ve say save yourself £3.45 cause it’s literally sliced red onion with 2 chillies and wedge of lime. Won’t order again for this place.

What a fantastic restaurant, just what we needed after a few hours of visiting pubs in the area. The masala dosa was super tasty and the portion was generous. Nice and spicy. The staff were friendly and I can't recommend this place highly enough. Take your friends and order lots of dishes.

I enjoy the puttu and iddiyapam here. They are authentic, the quality is more which is great for sharing.

This is the best place to go if you wanna try some authentic South Indian and srilankan food. The meal is incredibly delicious and enticing. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and courteous; they will assist you in selecting your meal. Excellent service. today we had a holi festival we went to the restaurant but we didn’t get any response we were standing there they behaved very badly with us we really disappointed by front staff girl.

Nice place to have South Indian food in Dartford. The dosas are really crispy and tastes very good. They have four type of chutneys. Sambhar Vada could be better though it is palatable. But we were disappointed with Dartford House Special Kottu Rotti. It lacks flavour.

Great for a quick fix for Indian food. We ordered dosas and they were really good. The chutneys were nice but not the best. Definitely a nice place to visit locally and have a meal with friends and family.

On Mother’s Day we decided to order a take away from Dosa House restaurant in Erith. Nice reviews.Food came on time but the quality was so poor.I have lived in the Middle East for 25 years and have never seen anything like it. The naans were uncooked .cold and looked a week old.The aubergine curry was so unaappetizing,masala with a few pieces of aubergine skins.The shish kebab so hot just chilli and mince meat no spices. On the whole a big disaster.Everything except the chicken tikka got thrown away. What a Mother’s Day!!! For £ 57.High Prices Low Quality

My first time at this place and I found the ambiance amazing gave me the right vibes. The staff were attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and enjoyed it very much. Already planning my next visit.

Good dosa. All cooked to the perfection. Chilli paneer and gobi manchurian was good. It was a small treat for the family.

An enjoyable night. Food was excellent especially the sri lankan curry. A change from normal south Asian food. Friendly staff. Will come again.

A gem of a find that I happened upon by chance. I was surprisingly impressed. Great menu, food was fresh, hot and very tasty. I would go back again and I’d definitely recommend. We ordered 5/6 different plates. Prices are very reasonable. (Should have taken the photo’s before eating, lol)

I love curries and been to many restaurants. This was one of the best I've ever had . Authentic street food. The Crab curry and veg rice was to die for .I can't wait to go back.

This hidden gem is in a side street of Dartford, but now sits directly opposite the temporary (fabulous) Orchard Theatre. When passing through the unassuming entrance, the welcoming aromas will only tempt your tastebuds of the delights to follow. The food is superb. We had a dosa - subtle, fragrant and perfectly executed. We were asked if we wanted ‘spicy’ and that was exactly what we got. The deep fried cauliflower’Gobi 65’ is from another dimension. We were taken aback by each and every dish. The setting is austere, pleasant and clean. We remarked we felt like we could be sitting in a restaurant in Sri Lanka or India. The service was fabulous - friendly and on point. We are planning further visits to explore the menu further. It is very, very reasonably priced. A perfect start to an evening at the theatre, which is across the street. 11 out of 10 from us !

Ordered 3 dosa only 1 arrived. We requested them to send the full order as the kids will now go hungry. They did not bother to make any efforts for delivery. Pathetic service. Never buying again from them.

Visited for 3rd time. Not happy with food still tried dosa again for 1st time. We’re served wrong order and the dosa is not good at all. Never going back again. All dosa had same type of stuffing not sure why.

One of the best places that I have gone to have South Indian cuisine. I was taken by my work colleague and I was not disappointed at all. Very friendly staff, reasonable pricing and above all finger licking tasty food.

Paid £1.45 for a single popadum broken into 30 pieces and now have a £3 dip selection with nothing to dip in it.

It was our first visit to Dartford Dosa House and we wanted to try something different. The staff helped us with our choices and were very patient as we made up our minds. The food was absolutely gorgeous and very reasonably priced. Definitely would go back.

Absolutely disgusted !! Paid £39 for two biriyani’s the two of the smallest naans a dip selection costing £3.5 two out of the four dips taste like melted plastic and to top it all off paid £1.5 for “papadums” and what turned up was ONE crushed papadum …absolute joke will never EVER order from here again very dissatisfied

Good clean place but to be honest I have had really great dosas in my life, so compared to those you'll be disappointed. But if you are hungry and need a quick decent meal, you won't regret it.

Myself and other couple of families we go together for dinners or order takeaway from this restaurant twice a month. Last few times we had really bad experience but the recent experience was very disappointing. We ordered food for 9-10 people through just-eat. All the garlic naan were burnt, chicken lollypop was undercooked. We called restaurant and they have simply asked to contact just eat. Just eat refunded however the customer service we were expecting from restaurant was soo poor. We all have decided Will never order again from Dosa house. We are looking for better options for our get togethers locally now.

This is good food. One of the sauce/dips is a bit weird and we always put it straight in the bin. The coriander one and the tomato ones are delicious. I’d buy the coriander one in the supermarket if it was available.

Good Indian restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. Very reasonably priced and they have a good discount on takeaway on all days and dine in on certain days of the week. The Indian breads are a bit on the thick side and one time we received naan that was too stiff. Will avoid the Indian breads!

Fantastic food and service. I went quite early on a Thursday evening so I was the only person there. The Masala Dosa was delicious and satisfied my craving for South Indian food. I'll definitely be going back to show my family and friends what they are missing and food they haven't tried yet - especially the Vada, dosas and Kulfi. The service was fantastic they were so attentive and kind. They have a pictures showing the foods and their names which is helpful, you can tell all the pictures have been taken there. Definitely try if you've never had South Indian food before!!

Food was not good. Curry's so watery, barely any chicken in the curry, paratha was undercooked ( very doughy ) most of the food binned, near inedible.

Dont be deseved by the appearance from the outside. Great and authentic Sri Lankan food...spicy and delicious. Very promptly served despite the place being quite busy on the weekend. Consider booking a table if you intend to visit on the weekend, we were lucky with getting a table without one. Friendly and polite staff.

I read the mixed reviews and very glad I ignored the poor ones. Visited a Saturday lunchtime, solo. Only a few people in when I arrived but most tables were occupied when I left an hour later. Masala dosa was faultless. Big and crispy with a mildly spiced potato curry. The rasam soup was spicy hot and sour, with bags of flavour. The paratha was soft and flakey. The aubergine curry was a good size portion that could easily have fed two. Proper warm spices, clove, cinnamon and medium heat with a hint of sweetness. Perfect. Masala chai came unsweetened so the customer has the option but I prefer it to be sweetened as it is made. Perhaps I should have asked. Service was from two young staff members. Very good. Will return with a big group.

I always passed Dosa house as the appearance didn’t impress me much, but today I ordered a chicken tika masala for delivery and it’s one of the best I ever tried. Do not hesitate to order and enjoy your meal!

Authentic Indian cuisine. Visited Johannesburg recently and went to dinner at Dosa Hut in Fourways. We were a party of 18. The meals were excellent and tasted authentic. Would recommend the establishment to anyone looking for authentic South or North Indian cuisine. Only negative feedback is decor,lighting, tables and seating needs much attention.

Idlys are rock-hard. One of the bad Idlys we ever had. And Medhu Vada is even worse. Medhu Vada means soft vada. But this is quite the opposite. It's like a brick. The only saving grace is Dosas. Dosas are good.

In one word the food and service are just AWESOME 👏 Highly appreciate the way staffs showed their profound gestures, specially the waitress and food is so tastier, the ambience is so mesmerizing, highly recommended, just give a try to have South Indian and Srilankan mouth watering taste, Best ever place in DARTFORD 🤟🤟

Awful when is a korma ever spicy and a masala made from a tin of tomato soup the only thing that was nice was the onion bargi and the garlic naan was outstanding shame it was the only edible thing

Went for a lunch with a 7 weeks old baby. Place was empty only one table taken. Waitress offered a table to us by the entrance and above the air con. We asked to be moved to the corner, she refused. Even the place was totally empty. She said she needs to keep the tables for other customers, with no babies. We asked for a manager. He was not available, after 10 min of negotiating a table we had to leave because she just refuse to let us sit at any other table. Incredible rude waitress, we didn’t expect to be refused service because we have a baby. Definitely not family friendly, or maybe she was rude because the restaurant it’s only for Asian people, I am white myself. Note to a manger, consider hiring staff that don’t discriminate families with babies! Avoid this place.

One of the most horrific food I have ever had!!! The chicken fried rice smelled and had an awful fishy flavour. Not sure if the used the same oil or the pot. Will NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN!! RANCID flavour and taste!!

Tasty authentic food, with attentive helpful staff. Some of the best muttton rolls I've ever eaten, along with great onion bhaji, Methu Vada (savoury doughnuts with coconut chutney) and superb Masala Dosa. We also tried the Idly this time (fluffy rice dumplings with various chutneys) and we were not disappointed. This is a great local place to eat, budget friendly with superb food. Highly recommended.

Ordered a takeaway worth £50, 3 curries, 3 pilau rice, 2 peshwari nans and popadoms. When we came to collect the plastic bag had staples and a receipt, wish we had opened because there was no meat. The lamb curry and the two chicken, Srilankan and Butter chicken had the smallest pieces of meat I have ever seen in my entire life. I called and let the guy at reception know and he was defensive. We had driven from Essex to Dartford for a curry as most restaurants were shut over the bank holiday. Will never buy there and would not recommend. Just goes to show most of the reviews on their page are false and not verified. Absolutely a rip off, don't waste your money. Rice was in Large Containers and the curry in tiniest disposable lunch boxes, half full with almost minced chicken or lamb. You have totally lost a customer, won't be coming back.

Decided to eat here with some Indian friends one mid Sunday afternoon. When we arrived the restaurant was not busy so we had a choice of tables. The staff were friendly and helpful without being too pushy. We all ordered a variety of Dosa’s, a plain Dosa, a chicken masala Dosa and two special Dosa’s with a few different side dishes. All the food was served hot and was very tasty. The only downside was the food was not all delivered together, we had at least a 10 minute gap between the first dish and last dish arriving which made for a disjointed meal, that said the food was lovely as shown by all the plates being cleared.

I chose this restaurant as a couple of friends, my Wife and I were going to a show at the Orchard. It is within easy walking distance of the theatre. I read the reviews which on the whole seemed quite positive and another very dear friend of mine is Sri Lankan and his Mum was a good cook. I think the spice aspect of the food has been moderated to deal with the English palate as, although I asked for the dish to be spicy it certainly has less punch than I was used to from traditional Sri Lankan fare. The staff are kind and curtious. The ambiance is okay and the food arrived promptly (although when we arrived there were few diners). If you enjoy southern Indian sub-continent food I would suggest you give it a try.

Finally a restaurant that is serving as per a. INDIAN pallete. Liked it soo much. The biryani and chicken devil. However was a expecting a bit more Raita as complimentary😊

As always, the experience was amazing! Staff are always lovely. The lady that served us was as nice as ever and so thorough with the order. The staff are excellent and extremely polite. The food had outstanding behaviour. Always recommend the plain Dosa to share as a starter and the onion bhajis are divine. We’ve been coming here since before lockdowns and the excellent standard is always the same. By far, the best restaurant in Dartford.

The chicken korma was absolutely tasteless, full of dessicated coconut and no salt or spice. Not authentic Indian korma at all. Lamb curry was good. Chicken lollipop starter was tasty.
