Haweli Indian Restaurant in Wokingham

Asked for a tap water and they said I had to buy the expensive vos water on the table . By the end of the meal I had found out it’s a legal requirement for licensed restaurants to provide tap water. I complained at the end and he said I asked for a jug but if I had asked for a glass it would have been provided. He is basically using semantics but what ever his reply to this message he did not offer any tap water and said the only option was expensive bottled water if they suggest anything different it’s a lie. Anyway I did not leave service charge (first time in years) after this con so I did manage to more than recover the cost of the water anyway which is lucky because no offer was made to correct this In a word disappointing. I suggest you go to the tammmerind tree in Wokingham. I won’t be coming back to this restaurant.

What a fantastic Indian experience. Some of the best curry we have ever had. The service was brilliant. Cannot recommend enough.

Ordered online to pick up a takeaway, when getting order out at home, realised peshwari naan missing. Rang to report expecting a refund and apology, but was extremely impressed when the gentleman said he’d drop it round and was with us within 10-15 mins meaning meal was that much more enjoyable. This excellent customer service has most definitely encouraged us to return.

Ordered a takeaway 17/02/24 and food turned up on time but that was the only part that was good. Food was cold, tasteless and the chicken was rubbery.

Visited with friends for a catch up without the kids. Busy night in the restaurant. Were seated in the lounge. Starters very enjoyable including a huge onion bhaji. Mains were great and portions generous. Lamb Rezalla very particularly good as was the Tarka Dall. Service was attentive and friendly. Only shame was that the table next to us was quite boisterous, were throwing popadoms and naan and chocolates around at each other and had to be asked to mind their language. I appreciate the group were quite young but their actions came across somewhat disrespectful and self centred which was a shame. The team apologised to us for their other guests behaviour and hoped it hadn’t overshadowed our dining experience which was appreciated. Good to visit Haweli again and the team looked after us well, even offering an after dinner drink which was also much appreciated, and greeted us warmly again on departure thank you.

Excellent service and excellent food. We arrived without a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes. The serving staff were very helpful and attentive. There's a great menu here and good selection of drinks. Definitely worth a visit.

Great food. Service is a bit slow but that's the same for all curry houses realistically. We've been coming for years to this place and it's top notch.

The food was good, but not quite at the flavour level that I have experienced in other areas. One example was the lamb biryani. Enjoyable, but a bit bland compared to a super trad homemade style biryani. I must say, the onion Bhajis were faultless.

A wonderful place we have been to many times, where all food is prepared freshly and there are many vegan options. Olive oil is used instead of ghee so the food is healthier too. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and genuinely interested in giving their customers a good dining experience and excellent value for money. Thank you!

I have been meaning to leave this review for a while, to say that the Twyford Haweli is absolutely wonderful. Since living in Twyford I have regularly enjoyed great take-aways from the Haweli. The food is delicious, and the service is prompt and friendly. More recently I have come to appreciate the Haweli on greater level. Since becoming involved in school charity events The Haweli has delivered to our fairs, run take away deals and hosted our curry nights. Every time Raj and his team have been completely reliable and have generously donated to our cause. Not only this, I have found Raj to be extremely helpful and flexible- a tall order when you are delivering high quality food to large groups. This family run business is so much more than a great restaurant and take-away service. They are a huge asset to our community and I can’t wait to enjoy another meal there again soon.

Unfortunately, a the food was far bellow the standard anyone would expect. The service was great until the issue was raised then it became very uncomfortable. All in all not a great experience.

At the outset, please don’t be deceived by the outer ambience. This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever visited for the below mentioned reasons; 1. The money spent is not in consonance with the worth of the food being served 2. The service is very slow and unprofessional 3. The taste of the food is very poor compared to other Indian restaurants in and around Please think many times before you venture to enter this worthless place!

To start with...the starter, paneer shashlik was totally with out a pinch of salt and tasted horrible. Mushroom bhuna curry again tasted very bad and stale, chicken zalfrezi tasted the same. For all the curries, the base is the same! I really doubt what kind of cuisine is this. For the quality and quantity of food served, it is very very expensive. At the end of the day, we regret wasting our precious Sunday family lunch experience. I would not recommend this place at any cost, please look for alternatives!

To start with, don’t get deceived by the ambience of the place . Distasteful food- it’s not even close to Indian/ Bangladeshi food. Horrible sad music even after requesting to change it they didn’t. Very very expensive for the portion and taste of food served. NO VALUE FOR MONEY AT ALL. Service was polite but not good - didn’t get tissues after asking multiple times. The entire vibe and experience was very bad. Infact I was feeling restless to stay there with long time taking service for the little quantity of food they were serving. There are many many Indian restaurants around Wokingham , Finchampstead and even London that serve amazing food with better value for money. Felt deceived by the end of our family lunch.

❌Please stay away from this place⛔️❌ To begin with, the prices on their website are not indicative of what you find in the restaurant…so that’s outright CHEATING! The beer was served at room temperature without checking with the patron. The portions are very small especially the Mix Tandoori platter worth £17 is almost equivalent to mix starter worth £7 which they have wrongly advised to us it would be sufficient for 3 ppl..again outright LIE! The taste of the food not to mention is disgusting, misrepresenting/undervaluing the Indian cuisine (Bangladeshi cuisine included). Horrible Mushroom preparation ever encountered! Lastly, although…the service is polite, it is unprofessional! £80 dent to the wallet for the poorest lunch I have ever experienced!

From the moment we walked in to the minute we left the service was fantastic. We were greeted by friendly staff and did not have to wait long between courses. The food was delicious - very fresh and hot. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon. By far the best Indian takeaway in this area.

My partner and I went for dinner here on a random Tuesday night. We recently moved into the area and thought we’d try a local restaurant. Hands down the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The service was so attentive and everyone is so polite. The presentation of the meals was amazing. The taste of the food - insane. Even the poppadums were the best we’ve had. The chicken dishes were tender and juicy. The manager, Ali, was really lovely and even gave us Baileys on the house. It was a special dinner and we 100% will be back again with friends and family!

This restaurant is superb on all levels. Welcoming, a beautifully laid table, unparalleled service, and a really lovely dinner. Haweli delivers excellent value for money which is why we will return.

We have not visited this restaurant before so this was a lovely surprise to find this great place on our doorstep. the waiter and manager were very good and made us feel particularly welcome . The dishes were explained to us so we knew what to choose and the meals accompaniments were really good . The onion bargees were enormous and good for sharing . My husband had the Prawn Korma which he said was the best he has ever had . The chicken Dopiaza was also really good and the portion sizes were very generous . This is not a cheap place however because the quality and portion sizes are good it does represent good value for money . The restaurant itself is well styled and the whole atmosphere friendly and comfortable. -- now we have discovered it we will return.

Very, very poor. All the curries tasted similar. I asked for mine to be very very spicy... but it was a bland as you like. Even when they upgraded it, it was still not punchy. The Bhindi was mushy veg covered in the same bland tomato sauce as the main currys...rather than being a precise vibrant okra dish....

Don’t go with the name..this is not Indian restaurant though they are just a Bangladeshi restaurant..foods and everything is so costly and not even cooked or just not properly prepared. My suggestion is never ever go to restaurant and even you go, look out the menu and prices first. Else, you will just get you wallet wasted with a good chunk wasting with getting any good food…

Most excellent! Haweli did a really good job with the food, service and atmosphere. They also offered a place in their sort-of-secret parking area, which in the end I didn't need since I found a free-to-park area on a side street. Parking is likely to be a problem for those who don't know this area, partly because the restaurant is located at a busy intersection. The food? I gave up on reading the menu almost immediately - since our fellow diners know the place well, IMHO it was worth leaning on the wait staff for their recommendations rather than deciding for myself from the menu. They chose the Jadhpuri Venison for me - it's very smokey, just as the menu states. I perhaps wouldn't have chosen the venison by myself, which is why I'll defer to the restaurant staff and ask what they recommend there. The venison tasted just like beef, which is probably not very surprising. We also started off with gigantic onion bhajees - a classic for my dining party! Finally, the restaurant staff were clearly happy to see us there. That makes a lot of difference to this reviewer. I follow Latif's Inspired, a YouTube contributor working as a chef in Stoke. They 'knew' him, and our back and forth conversation had a way of keeping the evening flowing. Nice job Haweli!

We were time short, and Haweli obliged. Had a good natter and so was the food, more to the point. The mango lassi was very pleasant. The sweet one would have been even better with the odd spice added. Portions generous, lamb yummy and we were ready to face the lousy weather which had just broken in time for Henley Regatta after weeks of heatwave. Couldn't make it up. Haweli saved the day.

Regular customers here but this is the second time the food hasn’t been good. dishes were watery, lacked flavour and just didn’t taste right. Called the restaurant and was basically rushed off the phone. A shame because we used to love it here.

If I could do more than 5 Stars I would. Every time I dine here , perfection. Everything about this restaurant which should be a 3 star Michelin . It is the best dining experience ever. The food is out of this world. Mysore Chilli prawns were beautiful and packed a punch in flavour and taste. If I could eat here every day I would. The atmosphere is spot on all the time . The staff is amazing , friendly and perfect. They cook everything to world class standard. I love everything about this world class restaurant. Following a very poor takeaway experience we were offered a free replacement this was much better but will always struggle to match the food in house which has always been excellent

Waiter didn't get drink order correctly. Don't think he understood English very well. Food excellent. If you go for the Onion Bahjee as a starter - beware! They are as big as tennis balls. As usual, we were offered a complimentary after dinner drink. As as ll were driving we couldn't take it up but I thought this was a nice touch.

We had an amazing meal at this restaurant and would thoroughly recommend dining here. The service was attentive and friendly; thank you Ali and colleagues. The decor is nice and everything looked spotlessly clean. All the dishes were beautifully flavoured and presented. We particularly loved the Dhansak and the Onion Bhaji, but everything was delicious.
