Bay Spice in Hastings

We went to their Anniversary Dinner last night, it was very busy and had a good atmosphere. We were looked after very well all evening, the food was excellent, a homestyle menu, we had complimentary drinks and a bottle of wine. It’s our only Indian we go to, it’s the best in town!

1) Food is great. Some dishes Fantastic. 2) Service is Fantastic. Very attentive staff 3) Atmosphere is also very nice. 4) Price.... For an Indian and BIR Indian, although is Dine in, these are London prices. Rice yes maybe can feed two. For a starter, a BIR curry (120g-140g chicken breast), 1x Side and a drink you should expect around £30-£35. Good experience overall but pricey for what it is.

This has to be one of the best Indian takeaways I’ve ever had. We used to dine at a different Indian establishment but after several negative experiences of rude service, we decided to give this place a go. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming when I pick up my order, and I can only imagine the top tier service that dine-in customers receive. I’ve ordered from here a fair few times now and not once have we had an order that has been anything less than gorgeous. The chicken tikka Balti Massalla is absolutely delicious! Plenty of sauce and loads of chicken- I always have it over two days as there’s so much! The rice is very tasty as well, very fragrant and adds to the meal. My partner also enjoys his Chicken Tikka pathia. We always have the same order each time which I think says a lot! The price is so reasonable as well. We ordered straight from the website and for two of us it only came to about £29! I’d say that’s a steal considering I’ve got enough for my lunch tomorrow. Haven’t had the pleasure of dining inside yet but can imagine it’s nothing less than perfect. If you’re looking for friendly welcoming staff and good comforting food, go to BAY Spice!

Eating in at Bay sice is usually one of the best I dian meals in the Hastings area. Tonight we had a take away. It was okay but not upto the expected standard. In particular,the onion bhaji were overcooked to the point of being burnt and very dry. I would have overlooked all of this were it not for the fact that the 20% discount for ordering direct was not given because though I ordered direct from Bay spice by telephone, they say I had to order direct via their website. This is not mentioned on their menu. I believe ordering direct means not ordering via a 3rd party such as just eat. They really should make clear what thir own definition of direct is. It's a shame about this as they are a great venue to eat in.

Visited last night, the staff were very friendly, but sadly the food was not quite on the mark. The main course paneer jalfrezi was lovely but the mushroom bhaji was not cooked properly, the mushrooms were raw, and some of the pilau rice was burnt and hard.

Just had a takeaway for the last night of our holiday. Without a shadow of a doubt this was the worst meal I have ever had. The Korma was utterly tasteless and made worse by the addition of frozen prawns that had made it watery. The onion Bhajis were greasy and undercooked with great lumps of uncooked flour in the middle. For £70 most of the meal was inedible. Awful food.

I have been too Bay spice quite a few times now and dined in once with a very good friend. I take out now and have my usual meal. Always great food. Staff are always welcoming and polite. And the atmosphere is welcoming.

Been having a takeaway few times now as always lovely and perfect but tonight’s we just couldn’t eat it there was no flavour in any of it it was like eating water. We hope this is just a one off as otherwise u can not fault this place for food and delivery and its aways piping hot just a let down today

I had a delicious meal delivered and the reason I am writing a review is because it was the first time ordering Indian food online in Hastings that did not leave me feeling disappointed! Well done Bay Spice. Quite expensive but everything was really tasty and not too oily (which is my pet-hate for Indian takeaways and which so often seems to be the norm around here). I could also taste the individual components of the dishes and it seemed freshly made. Will order again and can recommend. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Has become our new favourite restaurant, the food is excellent, the staff team work brilliantly together they are all very friendly and helpful and the location is brilliant. And an added bonus- the toilets are absolutely immaculate, definitely the cleanest toilets in Hastings! Can you clean mine😂

Have been visiting this Indian for quite a few years every time I visit Hastings! We went again last night ( 12/9) and had the 4 course banquet for 19.99 a person. You get popppadams, a starter a main a side and rice or Nan. My absolute favourite dish is their chicken Modhu and I’m soo glad they still serve it, as I never see it anywhere else. It was absolutely sublime and my husband had the chicken tikka Marsala balti which he also loved . We had chicken tikka chat/prawn puri to start and both stunning dishes. Bombay aloo and bhajis and 2 naan breads finished the meal brilliantly: Can’t wait to return again! Please don’t ever take the modhu off the menu!! See you soon !!

Best curry in Hastings. Every time I'm in town I always eat here. Banquet night on Thursday/Sunday are banging.

Absolutely shocking service the food was awful and when brought up to the I think may of been one of the bosses in a shirt basically told us it's the way do it and the food is no issue my partner then went to the toilet and he then came back to start on me (female) It was horrendous service all it needed was a sorry and take that it wasn't good and that would of been that i then had to go to the bar to pay just the attitude of this person added to the bad food I would avoid this place. Reply to the Owner I'm assuming from that reply it was you that I dealt with most restaurants apologize if the food was not enjoyed by the customers at NO point did I ask for any discount you took the food of the bill that was the least you could do if it was just the food I would not of even bothered to write a review but to come to a table when they or.on there own to try to intimate them is not the right way I came to the bar to pay as I asked for the bill and waited nearly 10 minutes I did not want to stay any longer after I paid £38 for one Main a water and coke (wow) and told you to maybe have a bit of customer care and don't try to intimidated a female when there partner has left the table I was not rude to anyone not even you but the disgusting attitude of you in person I wouldn't.expect anything else then lies the food was mediocre I've had better from a jar at home but the whole review was to do with your awful way you treated a customer not so much the food.

Horrible service and horrible food. First they told us to pay in advance to sit outside. We ordered starters and main course food and the waiter brought all food together when we asked why they said we do it like that. The lamb kebab is rock hard. No taste. The tandoori horrible. The prawns no seasoning. All good horrible. They served papadaom but hold in hand and eat with chutney no proper side plates. Pls don’t go waste of money. So expensive and all waiters are bang, uses British ascent but no manners to talk. Shame to owner who kept them. Always is rush to take order but service is horrible. Please don’t go waste of money

Booked a table for 7pm for a special occasion only to be told to sit and wait 15 mins plus still nothing . Very poor customer service really disappointed Was waiting so long I made reservations for another restaurant

Wow, stunning open air dining on the balcony overlooking the sea. The waiters could not have been more skilled, organised or attentive (and also just lovely). Really enjoyed my palak paneer (appreciated being given the option of cheddar or paneer cheese). Very reasonably priced too.

Went for the 1st time on 26th July . Atmosphere great . Staff attentive and cheerful . Prices good . Food excellent. Now have a 10% Discount card presented to me after meal with a complimentary Courvoisier brandy.No rush service ate at leisure. Nice table sea views . 100%

Went for a family meal Saturday around 5:30pm, there was 7 adults 2 kids, the staff was so attentive, they were really busy but they still made sure we had everything we needed, they spoke to my boys and made them feel so welcome they even remembered their names and gave them a little tub of chocolates at the end of the meal, every member of staff said hello and good bye they were lovely it was probably up there with the best service we have ever had at a restaurant I was actually blown away, would 100% recommend x

After reading the reviews we decided to book a table. Great place, great staff and terrific food. If we were local it would definitely be a regular place to visit.

Tried some authentic Indian cuisine in Hastings and went to Bay Spice for some fine dining experience. The food were amazingly delicious and food portions just fine. There were set choices menu options which I highly recommend for value-conscious ideas. The table service is great with very helpful waiters to give delectable advise food choices as I was not familiar with Indian cuisines. Tips options can be seen when you pay your bill which i exercised as everything was great dining experience. The location is splendid as its along the seafront. There are pay carparks nearby which can be challenging to find carpark spaces. There are steps leading to the restaurant which has no disable whelchair accessibility. Highly recommended.

Father’s Day and kids choice and they love it at bay spice - food has always been amazing but the whole team there make it a great experience too .. I’ve tried many different dishes and never had a bad one .. prices about standard for any curry house .. all In all - great place and looking forward to our next visit ..

Food was not great we usually use ocean spice so our order was by accident just reminded us why we don't use bay spice and so expensive 😫 i did it again hoping that it would improve but so bland and chicken tough please someone open a good curry house in hastings !

Absolutely loved everything. We were in town visiting for the weekend, looking for places to eat and came across Bay Spice on Google. We had the Sunday buffet menu which was excellent value. Can't recommend it highly enough

Consistently less than average Indian food. Bought take away. Every food was so bland, veg curry, was without any taste, paneer tikka dry and without any spice. I won’t be eating Bay Spice any time again soon. And the price was so expensive

Pleasantly surprised on the quick, efficient and knowledgeable staff. The food arrived quick and was served on a hot plate. The quality of fresh ingredients gave the fantastic taste that made the whole meal thoroughly enjoyable. I will certainly visit again when next in Hastings.

Vastly overrated. Cannot relate to the positive reviews here. Went for the first time last week as heard good things and honestly cannot understand why. Food was mediocre at best. Too much salt in the biryani and vegetable samosa was the blandest i have ever tasted. Much better Currys in St Leonard's. Certainly will not be going back or recommending. Also expensive.

Held our staff Christmas meal here, for 28 people. Service was a bit hit and miss, at bit slow at times. Had to pay extra for takeaway for staff who were working the night shift and got charge an extra £6.50 per meal.on top of the set price of £25 per person and I had to do the deliveries myself, not sure how that works, but will be checking the receipt, something about cost price... You can do £25 per head to eat in, but you charge more to eat out?????? Most of our staff are Indian and they said they found the food sweet. Starters were a bit skimpy as were the mains. Starters has 4 small pieces of chicken, main meal had about 6, not even a full breast to be honest. Rice..... I had mushroom rice with A fried mushroom sliced on top!!!! Drinks are reasonably priced. Would I hold another event here..... No. However as an individual, or a small group things might be different. I would suggest that you try other alternatives before booking a large group event.

Absolutely fantastic Indian food here. Full of flavour and fresh. The service was absolutely spot on and they made Cauliflower Bhaji for me even though it's not on the menu. Only had takeaway from them before but it was a really nice atmosphere so would eat there again.

They are always nice and never get orders wrong the food is piping hot when you recieve it they go out of their way to remember who you are and your name excellent service

Saw the reviews and wasn't disappointed. Cosy atmospshere and not too busy when we went, which was bewteen 6:30-7:30pm on a Saturday evening. Great experience and the staff were very freindly and helpful.

My own vegan is tastier than their vegan Bhuna,dont get me wrong, i appreciate that they even have vegan options,but,sooo much is lacking:(it was dry,no oil,no flavour,no herbs,no spices,absolutely 0 tadte!like eating jar Bhuna with added green peas,cauliflower, tomatoes and potatoes,not interesting or appetising at all,samosas would have had more flavour. Its a true shame as vegan dishes are so awesome and flavoursame and enjoyable but this dish would put new vegan off their food for good

The food was great - The staff attitudes was brilliant - nothing was a hassle. Only down side was tables were a little on the small side.

Fantastic food. I had a takeaway vindaloo and the flavour and heat was perfect. Heat wasnt dumbed down like most. Rice and garlic naan 👌 I will be back for a sit down. Great job lads 👍

Ordered a takeaway. I am really sorry to say that this has to be one of the blandest curry’s we have ever tasted. Called to explain that we were upset and not happy, to no avail. We spent £50 and are not happy.

One of the best Indian Restaurants I have ever been to. The food was excellent the staff were attentive ,proffesional and dedicated to their job. I have eaten in some of the best Indian restaurants in London ...this place beats them in every respect. I will be back for sure !

We had l lovely meal in Bay Spice last night, the food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Would highly recommend a visit!

Long wait, 1 hour and 20 minutes for salty poor quality food. Staff kept saying be here soon.. Not true. Waited 40inutes for wine glasses. Sat down at 6.20. Glass of wine at 7.10! Waited over an hour for 3 x childrens nuggets and chips at nearly £9.00 each. No ketchup, then when I left the restaurant to go and buy some it appeared as if by magic, too late I was in the hotel next door who provided me with a bowl of ketchup. If the staff have the audacity to write fake review on my comments, as they have on others, shame on you. We paid £240 for 5 adult meals and 3 children's meals, a lesson learnt. The older manager apologised, showed good manners, too little too late.

This restaurant offers dishes which are not on the usual Indian restaurant menu, all of which were very tasty. The staff took good care of us and our meals arrived promptly. They had also taken the trouble to mark the fact that it was a birthday celebration.

Cheese naan was brought late, seemed to be a naan with cheese spread inside so not sure if the delay was a diversionary tactic.

Great place and fun evening for my friend’s Birthday, but NO DISABLED access or ramp and one of my friends had a big operation on her leg last week so we had to lift her into restaurant as steep steps and again for toilet during the evening which was very difficult and painful for her.

We had a takeaway X we was disappointed with our meal X the poppadoms didn't taste good may be the oil was old that they were fried in X the chicken Rogan was tough X onion bajee was greasy . The tarka fall was very watery . We had heard such good reviews of this restaurant, but we were so disappointed as we spent £59 for the 2 of us .

I have been to this restaurant several times before. Food is average but OK. It is large so can often look rather empty. Last visit (2 people) was £56 (Including tip - No starter). This visit was £80 for about the same meal (Not including any tip). I had asked for a Jalfrezi to be vindaloo hot. As I always do. This time however a £1 charge appeared on the bill for this. I have never been charged at any other restaurant. That ensured no tip and I won't go back if this is how penny pinching they are.

Excellent throughout. Other local restaurants could learn a lot from the service here.

Excellent vegan options, great service, we loved it!

We had a delicious meal in this restaurant tonight. We were (very surprisingly) addressed in Dutch upon arrival. We received good advice to make the right choice from the extensive menu. The service was friendly and polite. The food was very good. We regularly eat in Indian restaurants, but we had never eaten such delicious saag paneer. It is wonderful to sit on the terrace after a hot day with a cool breeze from the sea. In short, highly recommended!

Ordered a family takeaway from Bayspice. All of the food tasted really nice and was of good quality. Always reliable whether you're eating in or takeaway. Will definitely use again.

Bay Spice provides excellent Indian food, in my opinion. The duck is especially good. Delivery was on time using their website. The account using PayPal and only PayPal takes a few minutes. However, it all works fine with no IT glitches.

Nice experience, I read lots of comments about staff not friendly but by the looks of it they addressed it and all staff were super friendly and helpful , explained options for us in the menu. We tried the lamb biryani was great comes with rice and vegetables in great taste sauce . We also tried one of the chiefs specials was nice but didn’t like the amount of onions in it and need to add rice , we went for the pilau one was ok , but as a meal was costly . The garlic Nan was the best , freshly made and tasted great. Kids there is no specific kids menu , however there are some options such as fish and chips and sausages that could be for kids, expensive though compared to other options. We were offered loyalty card that gives 10% discount on our next visit, was nice gesture.

From Strat to finish a very pleasant experience. The staff were most welcome and attentive without being intrusive. The food was absolutely delicious and the complimentary Baileys at the end of the meal was most welcome. Good value for money too.

We didn't book - turned up on Father's day, it was really busy but they found us a table on the veranda and nothing was any bother. The service was brilliant as was the food. We were saying At The White Rock hotel so it was only a short stroll away so very convenient.
