Takeaway Chicken Dhansak, Chicken Tikka Masarla. Rice. It was food but only just, no lentils in the dhansak was hot but not full of flavor, Tikka was all sauce and chicken. Will not be back.

Slightly bland tasting food, smaller portions compared to other takeaways and overall just average. No other words to describe it really, not terrible but nothing amazing 3/5.

Great food and service in an authentic, family run restaurant, we brought our own alcohol and had a lovely experience! Highly recommend if in Hastings.

Quite a long wait but was still lovely

We've ordered from here before and had a great experience but last night our curries were watery and bland. There was no difference in taste between the pasanda and sag paneer, both of which were the same colour too. The pasanda and korma were not creamy in the slightest and slopped onto the plate. We are creatures of comfort and don't deviate from our "usual" curries so are sure of the taste and these were just not what they should have been. So disappointed and has put me off ordering again.

Found this little gem on Google ordered on line .asked for a extra hot chicken fhal and that is exactly what I got sooo hot. and the chicken biryani was perfectly spiced and very good will be back

Got a takeaway from here last night and I was really impressed. I am a bit fussy when it comes to take outs but my friend convinced me to give it a go and I am super pleased I did. Food was really delicious and for the quality really great value. Definitely recommend

Bland, lukewarm, tasted like supermarket curry sauce, will not use again 2nd bad experience. Don't know where the good reviews come from.

I have lived in Hastings 44 years and have never tried this place, having finally tried their food, I feel like I’ve missed out for years. The best curry I’ve eaten in town. I’ve spent years trying all the curry houses, and they’ve all been pretty average. This was so far above the others it’s not true. The taste was sublime. You could taste all the flavours they put in. Cooked with love and care. Came piping hot too. Delivery driver also found my house, many struggle to do so. And he’s was really polite. 10/10. I recommend to anyone this restaurant. I will be returning.

Went Wednesday night with two friends and it was excellent. Don't be put off by it's unassuming appearance, the place was spotless, with the kitchen in full view. As for the food, it was flavourful and well spiced with generous portions from the extensive menu. The owner/chef is very friendly with attentive service, and as a bonus you can bring your own wine and there is no corkage fee. Highly recommended and will definitely return.

The advertised time was 45 minutes. After paying it said an hour. Total time was an hour and a half

Birthday take away: Yet again, a gorgeous meal! The lamb passanda was full of flavour with no grisly bits! The bhajis were tasty and not greasy at all and the palank panir masala was full of flavour. Mushroom pakoras were also amazing and peshwari naan was delicious as always. Arrived nice and hot and on time. And thank you for the gulab jamun! You get a lot for your money. Best Indian Takeaway in town by far.

Our first, and certainly not our last, takeaway from here. The food was delayed but we got a phone call to apologise and it arrived pretty soon after piping hot and super tasty. Probably the best Indian takeaway we have had in a long time.

I’ve been going here for 12 years! We have had 100s of meals here! And never had a problem! Kindest family who run it! And the food is the best!

Nearly 2 hours late and the food was cold

Normally the food from here is extremely good so I don't mind the long waiting time however when the food arrived last night it tasted bland and like it had been watered down its shame as I probably won't order from here again now

Freshly cooked and the best Indian takeaway in town. A restaurant/takeaway with a kitchen you can see into is extremely rare and for me is a big positive, they have nothing to hide and that is clear with the quality of the food.

Very fast delivery and two complimentary poppadoms. It's over a year since I last ordered a curry. The vegetable curry seemed smaller and there appeared to be less meat in the biryani. Maybe I have a poor memory or that's just the way things are now.

This is a great little find. A family run restaurant serving good food at reasonable prices. If you're eating in bring your own booze. I'll be back with a few friends next time. I'd definitely recommend this place for the friendly, personal service and delicious food.

A colleague has been recommending this place for years! And I needed a change from my usual. Really enjoyed my meal quality was spot on straight out the kitchen hot and fresh when it arrived very much enjoyed my meal. A great treat for what had been a rotten day - my new regular that’s for sure!

The food was shocking. The king prawn dishes contained tiny prawns, more like shrimps. The korma was watery and I could not taste the cream, the dhansak was also watery and the puree had no chapati! All round an awful 'dinner' for myself and two of my daughters. The premium on king prawns is high so quite frankly I feel like I've been ripped off.

Great food, delivery was prompt. And is always delicious, with generous portions. If you want proper food mon"s massala should be your first choice 😋.

Delivery put back twice and when it arrived looked like the bag had been kicked about as sauces all over the bag and containers all bashed up was a right mess

I order food at 6.30pm a got my food at 9pm a not happy with it a I love it food but now made me feel not happy waiting all that time

Decent. Price is right. Food is tasty. Chicken could be a bit higher quality, but for the price, I can't complain. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more, if the chicken was a bit more tender.

Melt in the mouth chicken. Very delicious, cooked perfectly, not over cooked or chewy.

As a vegetarian I probably won't purchase again - the food was generous proportions , not oily and arrived hot. Reasonable taste generally , but nothing special , the vegetables themselves had little flavour and the use of tinned vegetables is not what I would expect in a quality curry- in particular tinned carrots taste of nothing at all!

Been searching for a new Indian take away place after being so disappointed with other places recently (cold food, super greasy bhajis, and generally overpriced food) thank goodness I found this place! OK I waited longer than expected but it is Saturday night! It arrived delivered by a very friendly driver and the food was nice and hot and DELICIOUS. Lots of flavour and not greasy. My new favourite Indian in Hastings! oh and very reasonably priced too ❤

Awful. Over 1 hour 30 for a curry and bread… they couldn’t care less. Won’t use again, don’t recommend.

We were given a Deliveroo voucher for Christmas and decided to use it this evening. We don't often have Indian as my youngest doesn't like it so we ordered her chicken and chips from the extensive menu. My chicken tikka pasanda was stunning as was the pilau rice and the Bombay potato (turns out my youngest liked all three of these dishes too!) My husband found his lamb byriani a little to hot for his taste but he also loved the pasanda! My eldest had a chicken balti, which she really enjoyed. Will definitely order again and hubby is keen to try the restaurant as an eat in too.

Took 2 hours from order being placed to arriving. Was told was running late and would be an extra 20 mins however was still a further 45 minutes. Food was ok, nothing special, pretty bland, chips were stale. Won’t be ordering from here again

Ordered delivery in advance for NYE. Thought I'd try somewhere new as menu looked interesting and I had a vegetarian guest. Delivery only 20 mins late. Good for NY. Portions were mean. Veg curry unbelievably bad. A few clearly frozen veg in a runny tasteless sauce. Carrot, green beans and a few peas. That was it. Nothing else. Tarka dal passable but miniscule. Sag paneer - hardly any paneer and again a bit of frozen spinach in loads of slop. Stuffed peppers nothing like Shimla Mirch. Just a few frozen runner beans in a raw uncooked pepper. Just the memory of that travesty alone is going to reduce my already generous 2 starts to 1. Fruit rice which should include pineapple, sultanas, spices etc had a few soggy slices of uncooked banana and lychees in plain rice and again was meagre. Chicken Tikka was OK but again tiny. 4 cubes of chicken only and a mountain of half cooked soggy onion. Nan bread soggy and undercooked. It was all bad. No excuses re NYE. They didn't charge any less for this muck remember. My guest ordered a pizza for us. Embarrassing.

Bit of a bittersweet experience really. Placed an order to arrive at 19:40 (ordered about 18:30). Eventually arrived at 20:20. I genuinely cannot fault the food. It was hot, very tasty and plenty of it. The service however was a bit to be desired. I phoned up about 19:45 as tracking hadn't updated and the lady said it would be another 10/15 minutes. We waited until 20:05 and they said it was on its way. It's such a shame. Realisticly id order again but if the service was bad, I'd probably give up

The food was amazing and really hot. As soon as the restaurant realised they might be late they phoned and apologised right up to delivery. We will definitely be buying again and recommending this restaurant

Fantastic food I would go as far to say best in the town open kitchen where you can see all the cooking happening all cooked fresh as you order lovely owners too

The food tasted amazing, but considering it was ordered at 6:50 and estimated delivery was 7:55, actual delivery 9:00 it’s to be expected that anything would taste amazing based on the fact I would have eaten my cat by that point. Amazing curry though, would eat again!

Never been to Hastings before, when looking at places to eat Mons had such good ratings! We saw reviews of the boss letting children in the kitchen to help cook and that confirmed how lovely they were. When the food arrived we were absolutley over the moon! Everything was so nice, authentic and tasted amazing! Far better than the curry we get in London. We will definitley be ordering again when we next visit!

Delicious food with very nice and funny staff. They asked if I wanted to be there and see how the food was made. I was there with my family, (one of them has celiak desease), and they were really careful and showed us in the ingredients list just so we could be sure there was no gluten, which there were none. The waiting time was a little long, but its a family business with not a lot of people, so it was expected. Recommend the nan breads!! 5/5.

Outstanding food & service 😍 Order was ready earlier than expected, the ingredients taste so fresh, the food was seasoned so well, we live a 15 minute drive from the restaurant and it was still pippin hot when we got home, can’t recommend this restaurant enough.

I ordered the Chicken Jalfrezi, Pillau Rice, Green Salad with complimentary onion salad and Spiced Poppadoms- The meal was delivered fresh and hot and was absolutely delicious, which I thoroughly enjoyed- I will most definitely order again, and if any one is considering ordering a wonderful curry etc, then Mon's Massala is the one - super, super food.

***Hidden Gem of Hastings*** Had been to Mon Massala twice following a 2 year jaunt around most of Hastings and St Leonard’s and concluding that Mon’s is easily the best Indian in the area. Decided to take the family there whilst the father-in-law was visiting and once again absolutely amazing food and the best service from the very friendly staff and owner. They even took my two daughters in to the kitchen and they helped make their own egg fried rice. Every time I’ve been, it seems that the restaurant has been updated, and is clean, fresh with nice decor, new cutlery, and clean new menus. Can’t wait to go back again and try more of this amazing menu.

Fantastic meal and lovely service

Was visiting Hastings today and it took me so long to find a place to eat out, when suddenly this shone out to me. I enjoyed my meal (Jalfrezi curry with lamb and rice) and the service was excellent

First time ordering and I’m glad I did. Food was on time, nice and hot, but most importantly it was very tasty. I also thought it was reasonably priced with generous portion sizes. I will definitely be ordering again.

Food was fabulous. I had Hydrabadi lamb and it was lovely. Rice with peas and scrambled egg was great. Definitely oder again.

Have ordered from here plenty of times. The food is always delicious. Ordered yesterday and there was a slight issue with the order, however the owner was so helpful and accommodating. Can't recommend enough, especially the onion bhajis!!
