Very poor food quality. Ordered a masala which tasted nothing like a masala, no sweetness, spicy which is not the norm for a masala. Won’t be using again

Visited this restaurant while coming back from sandbanks beach. 15 mnts drive from beach.When we called we were told there is half n hour waiting, so we booked for 45 mnts ahead. When reached at booking time there wasnt any rush but still table was not ready, we waited 10 mnts outside and reminded them couple of times to clean the table and make it ready. Finally when we got the table after 10 mnts we waited another 15-20 mnts for someone to take our order. The service was really slow and they had only 2 guys to serve table, reception and they were steuggling even with half full restaurant. The food was average and overpriced. Needs improvement in service and food.

This is an experience I would love to forget. Probably the worst Indian I have ever had, followed up by some of the worst service you can imagine. Found this Indian as we were staying local and went off Tripadvisor reviews, but how wrong these all were. My wife’s and daughter curries were edible but were very bland, for the price which I felt was pretty steep for a run of the mill curry. Mine on the other hand was the start of a completely shocking experience. I ordered the king prawn Ceylon, which I was looking forward to, some nice soft buttery king prawns coming in at a whopping £19 (without rice or naan) but these prawns were like something I had never had the pleasure of eating before. They were rocks straight off of lulworth cove they were so far over cooked. I decided to say to the staff that they were inedible, I had to then demonstrate cutting them with all my strength to make them under stand. I was then offered another dish to replace it, but I was not to choose king prawns as they would probably be over cooked if I had them again. I went for a chicken shashlik, which was £5 cheaper. A pretty safe bet I thought. i was then told I had to still pay for the prawn dish, and I wouldn’t be charged for the cheaper chicken dish. I was now really confused and thought I had misunderstood, I laughed to myself and thought surely not. The shashlik arrived. Which at first look, didn’t look quite right and appeared very quickly for chicken. This was a hazard to health. The chicken was like jelly with a slight pinkness where it had been rushed. It seemed to me like it was previously frozen chicken that hadn’t been cooked fully back up to temp. I had now had enough. So I asked for the bill. Guess what the sent back prawn dish wash on the bill. So I asked if it could be removed as I didn’t eat it. I was then told I had to pick one, prawn or chicken to pay for as I had now had 2 dishes, neither of which had been eaten. I managed by some form of miracle to get them to agree to removing my dish from the bill. But It gets funnier yet. Then I paid cash and needed £5 change, I was told they only had £1 and that would have to do. I stood shocked waiting for ant and dec to appear, but sadly they didn’t as this would have explained that it was a prank, but the only thing that did appear was the waiter with £3.70 in 5 & 10 pence coins. The owner overheard at this point, and I was ordered to follow him to his car where he said he would have £5. so off we went to his car down the road in the rain to get my change. This is honestly the worst dining experience ever. Overcooked prawns and undercooked chicken, served up with a side of rudeness.

After having a negative experience with booking in the past (a few years ago) I am finally able to review the restaurant for the credit it deserves with its current staff. Food, service and experience was great! :)

STAY AWAY. The hospitality of this place is terrible and the owners & waiters are extremely disrespectful towards customers. I booked this restaurant through groupon for my partner’s birthday, as he loves Indian food, and it was a terrible experience. They sent us a very unprofessional text message a few hours before our booking telling us we had to go to the Westbourne restaurant instead of the Bournemouth one due to it suddenly being closed down (which I don’t believe, I feel like they just didn’t want to accommodate us). Once we arrived at the Westbourne restaurant, which was a 15 min drive away instead of the 2 min walk that it should’ve been to the original restaurant, and a lot smaller than the original restaurant, Raj the waiter said we weren’t allowed to use the groupon voucher even though it had already been brought (why have your restaurant available on groupon if you don’t want people to use it?). We argued against it and finally they allowed us to use it, but then there was a whole other issue of us only being able to order from a set menu (which was not stated anywhere on the groupon voucher). During this time, Raj was being extremely rude and dismissive towards my partner and myself, baring in mind it was my partners birthday and I was very upset that my partner was becoming upset. He finally said we could order from the normal menu (which should have been the case anyway) but we ended up just leaving due to the terrible customer service up to this point. The least they could have done is accommodate what we were already entitled to, without all the fuss, knowing that they inconvenienced us by moving us to a whole new restaurant. We managed to get a refund from groupon but I would stay away from this place, very rude manager & waiters and would not recommended at all.

This has to be one of the best Dum Biryani I’ve ever had. The flavours were so powerful and very much authentic. The vegetable curry that came with the Biryani was flavoursome and mouthwatering. The Peshwari Naan was soft and sweet. The service was exceptional. Overall: 5 out of 5 on this one. It’s not often I enjoy almost everything on the menu. The authentic flavours really impressed me. Husband and wife duo in the kitchen!

There is nothing to not love about the food in this place. Ordered a variety of food items and everything had genuine north indian taste. Most importantly, it tasted as home made food without extra oil, which you generally get in restaurants. Finally, owner and staff is very friendly. Must visit in Bournemouth.

I visited here with my partner and three children. As soon as we walked in we was welcomed by the friendliest staff who all couldn’t do enough for us throughout. They were so helpful, friendly and accommodating, especially to the children. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely it is such a nice place to eat. The food was so nice, the best restaurant around! Would definitely recommend, and give more than 5 stars if I could! :) :)

Typical Indian restaurant serving good food. I expected a bit more (especially in service quality), although the experience has not been bad.I may come back the next time I'm in town. Over the last twenty years I have been travelling for business (and not) reason and I have discovered a lot about the world of catering. This review has been written after few visits: as usual it is based on food quality, staff attitude, value for money and atmosphere.

We moved from Birmingham and have never had a decent curry in Dorset in all that time up until tonight. I would recommend this place to any one. Shame it is smaller. Best curry house in Dorset. We will be back. Great service and great food.

Amazing food and excellent staff and service

I tried a takeaway from Dilli Haat , I ordered the lamb rogan Josh, lamb madras , peshwari naan and chilli chicken. These four items ( one of them being naan) came up to around £50. The peshwari naan and chilli chicken was amazing, incredibly delicious and I would highly recommend these items . The two lamb curries were nice, decent flavour and the meat was somewhat tender. However , I do have to say that it’s not worth £15.45 for a curry. I’ve had many lamb curries and they’re normally around £12-13 MAX. The food was good but too expensive.

Dilli Haat create the best Indian food, day in, day out. They are right up there with Masala Zone in London and it's so great they offer takeaway deliveries too.

A delightful restaurant and take away based on the food foremost but also the owners and staff are superb. You will not be disappointed with the experience although as a small unit some tables are quite close but this adds to the atmosphere. From the pickles to the rice everyone is very nice although a tad more on the spice than one may have become accustomed to in also ran establishments. You've been warned...sublime!

We absolutely loved the Dilli Haat in Westbourne. The service was great and the team really lovely and kind. They went the extra mile to satisfy our inquisitive mind around the different dishes available and our favourite pickle. I came back for the excellent Baingan Bharta and wasn't disappointed. I highly recommend this gem nested in lovely Westbourne. It's copious and delicious. Many thanks to the team that looked after us tonight.

I ordered yesterday from there Westbourne and from chole a the bathure was missing and when i called back they are so rude and blaming me and when we come to your outlet Mr and Mrs Sharma were so hospitable but the way staff talk it feel so embracing . They served good food but they have to teach there staff little bit how to talk with customer and i understand mistake happen while working its ok if u missed the item but at least admit that and after that i don't think i will order again from your outlet pathetic experience.

I am in the restaurant as I write the review. I have been coming here since perhaps 2016 when it opened. Tonight there is no atmosphere, I feel the waiting staff are off their game. My salmon starter was good. My poppadom plate was not removed, I was asked by the waiter to use my cutlery for the main, I said no I would like fresh please. My Chicken tikka main and sag aloo dishes were not hot enough on presentation although good sized portions. I would say management need to be careful as their fine reputation could be lost.

The chilli paneer was fantastic! It is very flavourful and in great quantity too. I would definitely recommend it! I also had the butter paneer. The best I've ever had! Freshly made and very tasty. A restaurant to not miss out on when visiting Bournemouth!

This is the best Indian food around. We are regulars of this restaurant. I have come here many times with my family , with my partner and this time with my friends. They all agreed with me that this is the most authentic Indian food they have had outside India. We all have been to India couple of times and this food is closest to what you get in India. On top of the food and beautiful setting , the service here is exceptional. The owner is such a humble and hard working lad. highly recommend this place and let us all support this family business.
