Baboo Ji Vegetarian Kitchen in Bournemouth

The food at Baboo Ji is among the best vegetarian Indian cooking I have come across. I first visited in April 2022 with a work colleague and now it is one of my go to eateries when I'm in the area. The staff are friendly and seem to know most of their customers well, always a sign that they care about returning trade. Definitely a 5 star venue. Sadly, I've just found out they are having to close this restaurant but are looking for new premises to re-open. Keep an eye on their social media pages on Facebook and Instagram for info on the new site when it comes.

Excellent food delivered fast from this restaurant. We throughly enjoyed the Samosa and Aloo Chaat combinations. The Dosa was well made with the accompaniments. Great Vegetarian choices on the menu which was pleasing.

Me and my partner recently visited for a date night. we live local and like to come here for dinner. A lovely venue and the staff are always so helpful and friendly. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. We also like to pop in for the Wed night curry club, which is brilliant value for £10 each. Thank you for your hospitality and we will continue to come in as it’s important to support a local business. Keep up the good work!

Just popped into Baboo great meal so many different spices and tastes well worth it and I'm not a vegetarian Excellent service & good atmosphere.

Easy phone booking. Nice staff and lovely food . Did not get any authentic Indian musical until we were in for about a hour. For us, the temperature in the place was just too cold, a hint for the management would be, "why has everyone still got their coats on". Sort this out and we will be back.

My husband booked this restaurant because I’m a vegetarian. There was a great choice of food, which was tasty and a good price. The plates were delivered warm, which I was pleased about, but by the time the food arrived they were cold. If only the restaurant had been a bit warmer we would have ordered more and enjoyed our evening more. We had to put our coats on and it was still cold. It might be because we arrived at the beginning of service, because the heating was switched on while we were there. Maybe it should be switched on earlier. The staff were friendly and polite.

We had a wonderful meal here and would really recommend it. You certainly don't have to be vegetarian to enjoy the amazing range of dishes and flavours on offer here. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed and the service is great. It's also very good value.

I ordered the Judgement Free Chicken (JFC) Biryani as my main course for £12.00. It was a bowl of rice with pieces of very chewy chicken substitute which was unpleasant to eat. My wife ordered Goan Veg which had tiny pieces of vegetables in a sauce that lacked flavour. The rice that came with the dish came late to the table. Service was slow. The food came in stages so that some members of the group had their meal ten minutes before the others. Very disappointing considering the final bill!

The menu was creative, I loved the paneer options and the staff were attentive and friendly. They made sure you were looked after at all times.

So I don't do spice so I asked to put the spice on the side so it was perfection. The food was amazing,again. Definitely coming back. Really lovely staff too.

This was our 2nd visit and although we’re not vegetarian it was chosen specifically because it’s the only restaurant locally (that I can find) that serves Pani Puri and Gobi Manchurian (although it’s not called that here - Bengarula Wings instead). Both of these were excellent! We mostly ate Baboo Bites and all of these were delicious, and a great way to try lots of different flavours and textures, but also had a vegetable biryani. Sadly this was bang average, made worse because we weren’t served the sauce. The rice wasn’t well spiced, more lemon flavoured, and the vegetables looked and tasted like frozen mixed veg. The restaurant kindly removed the charge for the biryani. The bit we didn’t enjoy was that the food was mostly luke warm, as example, the Masala Dosa crepe was warm but the potato filling was completely cold, the Dal started hot but because it was served in a very shallow dish it became cold in minutes, and although the Bengarula Wings was one of the best I’ve had, the cauliflower was actually tepid. My wife likes piping hot food, I prefer average temperature, but even for me, the dishes that should have been hot / warm, were way too cold. The drinks were lovely, the staff were great and the music and restaurant spaces great. We’ll definitely be back, with hotter food this restaurant deserves to be packed with vegan and meat eaters!

We came here with some of our family, who are vegan and we were very pleased with our meal. We have never had a vegan meal at a restauarant, but we were so glad we did! There are so many choices that are so unique and full of flavour. We forgot we were eating food that was vegan! The service was also spot on.

Finally managed a visit. Its very good. Great beer selection I.e more than Cobra. Fantastic range if food. Great.
