Lime Tree in Bury

This place is lovely. Food is so fresh and delicious. Service is wonderful and the staff are very welcoming and accommodating.

The eating experience was second-to-none with the onion naan a particular favourite.

Order was late and food was cold

I will start off by saying I have eaten at the Lime Tree on NYE (and other occasions) for the last 4 years in a row as it’s our local and had excellent food and service, however after last night, my friends and I will never return. Table for four adults and a high chair was booked for 6pm and we arrived promptly, ready to eat. We ordered shared starters and mains, but asked for food all to come at the same time - conscious we were sat with a restless 11 month old. Starter came quickly, but the rest of the food didn’t arrive…fine, we still had plenty of time. A further 1 hour and 30 passes and still no sign of mains, so one of our party decided to leave with the baby as he only lives nearby, we’d take his food home to him. Again fine, the trials and tribulations of being out with a baby. Around 7.50pm mains finally arrived and looked absolutely delicious, we don’t mind the wait as it is NYE after all and we could see how busy the staff were. At 8.10pm, whilst we were still eating and drinking the drinks staff took an order for 10 minutes before, an extremely rude waiter came to the table and told us we needed to hurry up and leave as he had tables waiting. Absolutely gobsmacked, we were left speechless. When he returned to the table, I said excuse me but we’re mid meal, can we please finish and then we’ll be out of the way. He said no, I’m bringing the bill now, so we asked for takeaway containers at the very least- he was furious at this request and used expletive language towards myself. The boxes were bought over, along with the bill. We were busy packing the food away when he came over with the card machine - we had not had time to read the bill due to frantically trying to clear up, so asked if we could pay in a sec once we’ve looked at the bill, only to be told we were causing a fuss out of nothing. We then stood in a packed entrance to try and pay our bill, when the rude waiter spotted us he bought over the card machine and took £70 off our £170 bill- extremely generous, but absolutely not the point. It was NYE, we were happy to pay for the delicious food we were eating and support a local restaurant, what we didn’t want was to be treated so rudely and be forced to finish our dinner at home! Look, I get it, I’ve worked in busy restaurants on NYE and often the staff are not in charge of how many bookings they’re able to take or the kitchen can be a chef down last minute but the way we were spoken to and treated this evening was appalling. Had someone kindly mentioned the table was needed back or that they were sorry the food was delayed, but the table was still needed fairly quickly, we’d of understood but we were told absolutely none of this. Largely looks like the restaurant had bitten off more than they could chew on an extremely busy evening, but the response to this was atrocious. I’m aware of the replies negative reviews of this restaurant gets and I would say they’re a perfect reflection of how we were treated in person last night. Book at your own risk!

Always a 10/10 from lime tree, we have never ever experienced a bad meal (eat in or take away) staff are all brilliant, happy new year!

Two sides to this review: The main part being it took THREE HOURS for the food to arrive, and in stressed situations (such as New Year’s Eve) management handling of basic requests about food status need improvement. The reason we’ve come back again this time though is they can make a great curry, but our recommendation would be to avoid weekends or key nights. This is the third time we’ve tried takeaway from them in maybe 6 years, and unfortunately let down the same way each time so won’t return

Chips arrived cold and the shahslick was quite greasy but the curry and rice was fine!

Chicken madras was barely a madras and chewy, lamb jalfrezi was nowhere near and still chewy; veg samosas and onion bhaji both below expectation of flavour - garlic naan free of garlic flavour and half size than used to. All the rice dishes (pilau, lemon, egg) were lovely. Shall not use again.

Ive been to Lime Tree restaurant many times, we didnt want to go out so ordered a takeaway. Unfortunately when it arrived everything but the starter was cold so riuned the meal. It is a shame as thus place usually has a good reputation.

Food was really tasty, wasn't disappointed with what I got for the price. Only slight tweak I'd want is that the naans were maybe a bit too thick. I think I met the owner when I collected and he seemed delightful too. Slight warning, the 3 spice food options on the menu are definitely on the spicier side so only try those of you like a good kick. Sometimes spice can overpower the food but this was not the case here, they were all tasty. I would definitely eat here again.

Lovely and I don't normally like curry but that one was good.

apart from the very long wait for my meal, previously the mango had been pureed into the sauce rather than plopped in. it was unattractive but delicious

We went as on line it was advertised as a set menu for £15.95 , on arrival we were seated and handed menus , staff were not very happy, it all Said on the menu about the deal, we ordered drinks and when we came to order food we got told the deal was not available on bank holidays, it does not say this on line or on the menus, we asked to speak to the manager , he wasn’t available but they put him on the phone for me to speak to, he said he didn’t realise it didn’t say on line or on the menus that this offer wasn’t available , he was rude on the phone but said he would take 10% off the bill, we ordered starters which were ok, we then waited an hour for our main course which again was ok but nothing special, the waiters were miserable and didn’t speak, the owner then arrived and came over to thank us for pointing out that the menu and on line did not state the offer was not available on bank holidays, then began to tell us he was a good man who came from a very poor background and preferred to feed the poor rather than rich, the whole experience was terrible and all We wanted was a nice family meal, please avoid this place if you want good food and service and if you’re rich as the owner only likes to feed the poor !

Food was good but not exceptional however we were disappointed in the service. We booked a table on the Sunday due to the advert telling us that we could order a 3 course dinner for £15.95 however when we tried to order the food we were informed that the offer wasn’t applicable as it was a bank holiday however we pointed out that on the menu it states this available EVERY Sunday to which the waiter stated that’s what he’s been told so we asked to speak to the manager who had nipped out but he got him on the phone. The manager then spoke to my partner and said it should be in the small print but we said it was nowhere on the menu or on the website . He then said as a gesture of good will he would give us 10% off the bill and a free round of drinks which we accepted in good faith . Once we ordered the starters which to be honest were nice we then had a very long wait about 1 hour for our main meals . During our starters the manager who my partner had spoken to on the phone came up and thanked us for pointing out the error . He then proceeded to tell us that he had come from a very poor background and he preferred to feed the poor rather than the rich, which to be honest none of us saw the relevance. After we had finished our food , served by not the most polite or friendliest of staff aside from the woman who was at the bar who was lovely I went to pay the bill and the manager did take the 10% off however he was charging for the drinks which I pointed out that he had told my partner would be free which he denied saying that he knew what he had said implying that my partner had lied . Overall the dining experience which we had booked on recommendations from my partner’s customers was ok at the very best due to the poor service received. Bearing in mind I’ve been out for many meals especially Indian restaurants this was the worst I’ve had good food but poor service to summarise

Absolutely out of this world, hot fresh and tasty, best Indian food in the area, quality restaurant, it doesn’t matter wether you sit in and eat or take it away/delivered, it’s always the same, friendly staff and delivery driver. I recommend this establishment too anyone I know, thanks guys for a lovely Sunday tea!😍😍 can’t wait to order again

Delicious food, nicest I curry I’ve tasted in the prestwich area

Had a takeaway tonight, 22/5/24, the first time we've had a meal from the Lime Tree. It was really delicious, full of flavour, generous portions and delivered promptly. We'll definitely go back. Thank you.

Delicious food but delivery charge is way too high

This is a real hidden gem in prestwich. I was there with family in the evening and the place is just unreal. Staff are friendly and very welcoming. The decor is modern and very relaxed. It’s clean and the food was just unreal. I always order a lamb Kahari and this place is the best one I’ve ever tasted. I would definitely recommend this place and am considering returning for my fortieth birthday with family and friends as the price was so good too.

Went there to drop off few customer as a Private hire driver and wearing my badge. A member of staff at counter was really rude and unprofessional. Don’t know how he deal with customer he must need training or shouldn’t be in hospitality industry.

4/4/24 So the 1st time back this year and it was great to see Jonny, Asher and the rest of the amazing staff. Welcomed with a hug and shown to our table, the beers wern't too far behind, followed closely by the poppadoms. The sharing sizzling platter for starters and the chicken shishlik mains made for an enjoyable evening. 2/9/23 Tonight I introduced 33 people to the delights of Jonny and all the lovely staff at The Lime Tree. Booked in plenty of advance and kept him updated on guest numbers everyone had a fantastic time and I'm sure they will be back for more. The food was excellent as always. See you soon. 1/7/23 Were here again had a date night, we hadn't booked and was busy when we got there about 6:30 so we had a drink and after a half hour we got seated and had a lovely tasty meal. Poppadoms and a mixed platter for starters and lime tree special for mains. Best little curry house in Prestwich. Went back again this week after the re decor and it looks amazing, thought I would have something different instead of my usual and chose the Shahi Murgh Masala it was such a tasty dish, can't wait to go back and try something new.

Great food as always but it took 2 hours to get 2 mains and a naan less than a mile to us. Delivery is so unpredictable it puts us off going back.

The owner of this place is a jumped up little queen. He clearly enjoys belittling and attacking his customers for no apparent reason. He needs to step out of the closet and stop taking it out on paying customers.

Average food - on time but not very hot 🙁

Qoted 50-65 minutes. Took over 2 hours. Spoke to restaurant after 2nd delay message and was assured it would not be delayed any further. But it was. Food was great as always but this service is not ok.

Horrible place for delivery always late and expensive

I ordered this at 5.30 the original est time was 6.55 then changed to 7.20 . I had an update at 7.20 saying it was on its way and it arrived at 7.45 . I live approximately 10 minutes WALK from this restaurant. I could have walked there and back in this time. Its a shame as , other than being cold the food was nice . Won't bother ordering from this restaurant again

we decided to try this place out for the first time I was greeted by a woman who was quite pleasant however, the staff who asked if we’d like drinks and to order food was so rude, I was heavily pregnant at the time my partner wanted to order food however I wanted something small, so only asked for chips they was so rude and told me I couldn’t order something small? He then went and got the chef not sure why to question me, and told me I can’t! If I’m dining here or if i decided to dine for one drink you should allow it, if it’s going in your pocket and your making money from me then you shouldn’t refuse service so in the end I only ended up paying for the drinks we purchased and left. I would never go here ever again. Replying to your comment.. We did come here, I’m not stupid this is the right restaurant. OPPOSITE HEATON PARK the chef did come on the restaurant floor, my experience and everything i stated at the top was facts. No wonder there are so many bad reviews on this place, can tell I’m not the only one Replied 2! He did come out I ain’t lying , a woman was working she greeted us and sat us down I really don’t need to lie!, what really makes me laugh is, every comment I’ve seen about the poor customer service you’ve replied is in the same manner you treated paying customers! Poor service and rude waiters including the manager. Waiter spilt a drink over one of our party of 8 and we had to wipe the table. After an hour our food arrived and it was thrown onto the table. Complained to manager who said they were busy and short staffed and made no apology. When we left, not one waiter nor the manager said goodbye, completely ignored us. Won't be returning

Very tasty food! Faultless really. Lemon rice, tarka dal, peshwari Naan, chicken shashlick jalfrezi, all very fresh, flavoursome with lovely fresh (not frozen) veg.

Of course love this place with a passion Johnny and the tram amazing went sat 3rd Feb place was packed out glad I booked, considering how full it was service was great not sure of the ladies name who showed us to our table but she is just perfect remembered us from previous visits, this time we had a starter gorgeous garlic chicken puri and poppadoms then chicken madras n rice everything was piping hot gorgeous, you do have the option of taking left overs home Johnny always makes a point of coming over to. Say hi and thanks us for coming can not fault this place you can see the chefs cooking everything fresh from scratch amazing place thank you all 😊

Very busy New Years Eve evening. The restaurant was almost full but a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and not full of oil like some other restaurants. The staff were all very busy but were friendly. We will definitely visit again.

We asked for the manager to help with our query, who came over and was incredibly patronising, repeatedly rolling his eyes and very condescending. We decided to leave without ordering and as we stood the manger whilst seating other customers rudely said "are you ready to leave now" offering no apology and didn't care about upsetting or losing customers. All in all very rude and would not recommend. Until today, I had never left a restaurant before ordering! We ended up going to Forts of India in Whitefield the food was fantastic and the service was excellent. In response to the reply below. 1)Kyle has eaten here before therefore his opinion is from a previous visit. On this occasion yes we left before ordering. 2)On Kyle's review he was merely suggesting another restaurant around the corner that we've been to before and enjoyed. As I mentioned yesterday we went to Forts of India in which we had a much more pleasant experience than in your restaurant. 3)The reason you should have offered an apology is because your behaviour was disgusting. Also there are a number of reviews on here with the same complaints about rude staff. You reply to those reviews with the same rude attitude. In one comment you called somebody 'a vindictive woman' if that's how you treat paying customers I don't know how you're still in business.

Passenger in delivery car through a glass bottle out the window outside our house. We’re frustrated at the lack of care with littering and with it smashing on the road this could cause a puncture in our car tyre.
