NEW OWNERS HAVE OPENED SINDHOOR AGAIN.THEY HAVE REDECORATED AND CREATED A NICE DINING EXPERIENCE.THE FOOD IS SENSATIONAL AS THEY STILL EMPLOY THE ORIGINAL CHEF WHO CREATES AUTHENTIC SOUTH INDIAN FOOD. I HAD A CRISPY CAULIFLOWER STARTER AND A SUPER TASTY FISH DISH SERVED IN A BANANA LEAF, MY BETTER HALF HAD A CHICKEN STARTER AND HER FAVOURITE DOSA , THIS IS A CRISPY PANCAKE LIGHT AS A FEATHER WITH A SUMPTUOUS FILLING.WE WASHED THIS DOWN WITH A BOTTLE OF CHARDERS AND A PINT OF COBRA, ALL THIS FOR UNDER 60 POUND.. FOR THE OLD SINDHOOR FANS JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF NEW STREET FOOD DISHES ON THE MENU AND NEW MAIN COURSES TOO. WE WILL BE GOING BACK SOON..

Went to celebrate my friends birthday. There were quite a lot of us and to make it easier, we sent our menu choices ahead of the meal. I went here quire a few years ago and it was very nice. In the past year or so it always looked quiet but has recently picked up and the reviews are good. Plus it seems to have had a bit of a makeover. All I can say is the service was excellent. They handled the large group of us brilliantly. Staff were extremely friendly. We all enjoyed our food. It seems to have more flavour than other Asian places. I loved my meal, but one person had the fish starter. I tried it and tbh it was one of the nicest dishes I have ever had. I will return again soon. Also the portion sizes are good and it seems to be good value as well. Well done. We all had a great time.

Have eaten at the restaurant and enjoyed it but this timer ordered a take away via Uber eats . Food arrived piping hot in good time however the onion Bhajis were soggy and and quite spicy. I had a Malabar lamb curry which came in a tasty rich sauce but the lamb was rubbery with a not so nice taste. My wife had a Kumarakom Fish curry which was very thin and watery . She ate the fish but very little of the sauce. Both meals came with large portions of pilau rice and we had an ok peshwari Nan . Very disappointed hence the poor rating . Maybe hopefully they had a one off bad night.

It was Eid, and we called up the previous day and asked if they could do a special takeaway order for lunch for a group of 8, and they agreed even though they are not normally open for lunch. We ordered lamb biryani, chicken biryani, pomfret pollichathu, chicken 65 and beef coconut fry. The service was amazing when we went to pick up the food, and the food tasted great too - liked everything we ordered and truly made our Eid memorable. Thanks guys - will drop by whenever we are in M'cr next.

We like a good Indian meal and this place didn’t disappoint! It’s small, friendly an the staff lovely. We had the popadoms and chutney which were nice and fresh, followed by lamb chops which hubby said had a bit of spice to them and I had my favourite onion bhagie, must admit these for me were a little heavy and very big!Hubby had a chicken dish with lemon rice which he finished off in no time and again was spicy, I Had chicken biryani, it was huge enough to feed two after having a starter, big chunks of chicken and a boiled egg on the top, another popadom and chutney, again it was nice but to much, so ended up with a doggy bag.For a first visit it was very good, a little more spicy than I’m use to but this didn’t put me off will be going again!

Booked a table for 6pm thinking we'd get in and out reasonably quickly...when we arrived it was reasonably quiet and we ordered drinks pretty quickly. However they took a while to arrive and the draught lager was flat. The starters were lovely and would recommend the Sindhoor Special Dhosa. The main courses were slow to arrive and when they did we had no plates or cutlery and had to wait for rice and naan. One of the dishes was cold and had to be reheated. The food was tasty but with one chap serving all the food and taking the orders service was very slow leading to the cold food. If they got the service sorted this could be a great curry experience!

I love Sindhoor, when I go out with a group of friends, this is always our first choice of destination. Staff are friendly, South Indian cuisine is fantastic. Fortunately, one of our group is from South India, so we have expert advice on what to order. We always start with Dhosa - and I can definitely recommend the Sindhoor Special. We have tried Idly and Vada which we have also enjoyed, and the coconut fried beef is divine. I always have to have kerala parota but after that, we just pick and choose from the menu. We found this restaurant through some mooching on TA. The food is outstanding, coming from a lover of Indian food, it's great. The reason for 3 stars is more about the empty restaurant at 8pm on a Saturday night, consequently no atmosphere and the toilets in need of a good clean & redecorating. It's a pity and feels like an opportunity missed. They do takeaway though and the phone rang throughout the evening so maybe that's how they survive.

For mains we had Chicken Chettinadu, Chicken Kuruma and Chilli Chicken (fusion dish). We all thought the meal was spot on and great value for money. The only issue was the service was slow as only one member of staff waiting on at 530pm so we waited for about 50 minutes for starters but it was certainly worth the wait. Four of us visited this restaurant last night. I've been before, but it was a first for the other three. We arrived at different times and we kept adding to our order. However, nothing was a problem to the great staff and the food was excellent. Even the 'spicy' food was great as they appear to have perfected the art of creating the 'spiciness' by using herbs and spices and not just by throwing a load of chillies into the pan!! Each dish we ordered had its own unique taste. It makes a change to eat real Indian food and not just the cheap copies sold in many restaurants today which class themselves as "Indian", when they are clearly not.........

What an excellent find! This is a local restaurant to me but until recently I wasn't aware of it. Me and my partner visited on Thursday evening; we ordered the 3 course special. We both love Indian food but we had not experienced a menu like this before. The food was divine and we will be back. There were two people who were serving; they seemed incredibly busy, which did make us think about when we should order another drink/ask for the bill. However, they are currently advertising for waiting staff so I am sure this will improve. Also, busy staff just shows how popular the restaurant obviously is!

Let's get one thing out of the way first: yes, the service is a little slower than you may expect. You may also want to book because the restaurant is small. But the best comes to those who wait. The food here is, quite simply, the best you will taste outside of South India itself and we say that as people who have eaten there. The menu is small and you can tell that everything is cooked from fresh. Having gone on the night of July 25 for my wife's birthday, we enjoyed our window seat and I loved hearing my wife praising the food which means she really enjoyed it. As a foodie, she can be critical but not here.So take the wait as part of the service and enjoy your whole experience. It gives you a nice rest between courses and you can get on with enjoying the company of the person or people you are with maybe? Surely you don't go to a restaurant for a quick in and out? There's a McDonald's for that.

I visited with family earlier this week, three of whom ordered meat and fish dishes that were, by all accounts, excellent. As a vegetarian I opted for Matar Paneer and Dal Makhani, both of which were almost equivalent to the best I have tasted in Manchester (Sanskruti, Punjab, Jaipur Palace). It would be nice to see them make their own fresh paneer to take things up a notch.Good to see that the menu was not too expansive - I always worry when restaurants claim that their kitchens can make 60 plus dishes at any time. However, as a vegetarian, it would be good to see some more of the classic South Indian snacks/street foods that are on offer elsewhere, such as pani puri, paapri chaat, bhel puri etc.Good service from the young servers in a plain but pleasant environment.Nice to be able to get good South Indian grub up in Northern Manchester, rather than having to traipse down to Rusholme or Longsight - keep up the good work.

It isn't often I would praise somewhere with such slow service. This place is a hidden gem, the menu isn't your usually korma, rogan josh or madras type of place. It's something a little more special, it's South Indian food at its best! With the choice of dishes on the small side you know you're getting a gravy with depth and flavour. I have a problem when you go for Indian food and they have around 50different main courses. Each description sounds the same and they all usually end up tasting the same. At Sindhoor this isn't the case, there's a definition between each dish, you can taste the different flavours and spices. Even the tandoori half chicken is one of the best I've tried, cooked to perfection. I recommend the butter chicken, masala dosa, tandoori chicken, chicken chilli dry. You won't be disappointed with your visit. Just make sure you're not in a rush!

Best curry house in Whitefield in my opinion and I think lots of people are missing out as they don't realise. We had Punjabi Samosas which were a total change to the triangular greasy types most restaurants serve up. They almost seemed to be oven baked with an amazing potatoe and pea filling. The Mysore Lamb Chops starter were also very tender and tasty. The 2 curries we had were King Prawn Moilly and Paneer Mutter again both fantastic with a really fresh spice taste. Even the Naan bread was so different to what we're used to, it was so light and soft. Keep up the great work. My only suggestion for improvement is that a lick of paint in the restaurant and upstairs could improve the experience. As for the food it was the best we've had for a long while. If you've never been, try it out!

This place is great. Small quiet little restaurant with amazing food. A great selection of dishes and sides. Very nice to have south Indian dishes as there are not many restaurants like this around. The service was decent and the environment was pleasant.

We came here on a Saturday evening, booked only a few hours prior for a 7pm seating, so were fortunate to get a table.Starters and drinks ordered fine, by the time we had finished starters, our main meal orders had still not been taken. We waited patiently as the restaurant was fairly busy. On our third request for someone to take our main meal orders, they were finally taken. Again at the end of the meal we had to ask for the bill as no one had asked if the food was fine etc etc.The service was poor to non existent, however, not sure if this was due to a staff shortage at short notice or other issues as this was our first time dining here. It's a real shame. The food on the other hand was excellent! We could not fault it! It was absolutely delicious, well seasoned and tasty, top marks to the chef! We will most certainly return to the restaurant for the food but will book early! We do enjoy a leisurely dinner but this was really too long.Unfortunately due to the poor service we could not justify leaving a tip, except to say, They really do need extra waiting staff!Don't let the service put you off! The food is really very good, just be prepared to wait!

I came to this restaurant with my family and booked a table for 5 for 6:30pm on a saturday evening. The lady at the restaurant looked confused and told us to wait. We were not greeted, and she looked surprised once we entered. This gave me and my family a bad impression from the start. She brought another member of staff, who also seemed confused and mentioned that the restaurant was fully booked from 7:00pm. From saying that, we were not provided with , so we decided to leave. I have to admit, I have never come across a restaurant, so poorly organised and with staff who seemed rude and unprofessional.

Simply brilliant food. Not your usual ten a penny curry house but layers of flavour in a range of excellent dishes. I have been more than 20 times, tried so many of the dishes none of which has disappointed. Very highly recommended.

having been to Goa many times I have not found many Indian restaurants in the UK that can produce the types of meals that I fully enjoyed in Goa. -the Sindhoor does -I was delighted to find that this restaurant does know its food and spices and can produce brilliant real south Indian meals that are full of flavour and well presented, (and definitely non greasy), I would highly recommend it -very different food to what many may be used to at their local Indian restaurant - I do not believe that anyone could be less than happy with the meals here. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful- thank you - we will definitely be coming again.

Had ordered takeway meal, food was average compared to what I have had in few other places. Had chilli panneer, the paneer was hard and the sause was too tangy. The mix vegetable kurma was more of a aloo(potato) kurma. There was no other vegetables in it. Paneer mutter masala was the only thing which I had with no complaints. The quantity is also very less, I had 4 - 5 paneer in chilli paneer dish.

New manager, back to great service and the usual freshly prepared food. So glad that we arrived early, as the place soon filled up and were turning people away. Food is made to order, so can easily be adjusted to required taste, strength. I would definitely recommend this fast becoming popular restaurant, but would also recommend booking to ensure a table.

This is the first time I had been to this restaurant, had read reviews beforehand. Reviews were that the food was great and service not so great due to a new manager.I completely agree with these reviews, I have never been to South Indian restaurant before and absolutely loved the food, it was amazing, the chef is very talented. The service however was not so great. We waited for ages even for our drinks order which was very slow. The long wait between our starter and our main was longer than average but gave us chance to settle and allowed us to comfortably eat our main course without being too stuffed. We must have been in the restaurant for 3 hours with a starter and a main course If you were to visit this restaurant then you will love the food but please be patient regarding the wait and slow service.

this is our favourite go to restaurant, the food is the best indian food outside of kerala.we eat here at least once a month and have eaten every dish an have never been dissapointed.BUT !!!!!!! the new lebanese manager has not got a clue and needs to be replaced very quickley before it effects the business.he does not know how to serve wine,a lager and lime was served a pint of lager with a large lump of lime floating on the top, he hovered over us before we had finished the starters, tried to serve us our mains without plates, he has clearly never worked in the trade before..so this is for the sindhoor owner PLEASE get a new manager soon,,

Really disappointing experience here last night. Living in the local area, we are regulars to Sindhoor and the food is the best Indian food I have ever had; can never fault it whether its been a takeaway or eating in. We had some family visiting last night so decided to take them there and unfortunately we ended up walking out and going elsewhere after being totally forgotten about it seems. We arrived at 8 ish, and chose our own table. We didnt get given any menus, and had to actually go up and get them ourselves - the table next to us joked and asked if we could take their order for them as it appeared they had also been forgotten about and were sat with no drinks still and menus closed. Eventually someone came to take a drinks order (about 8.20pm) and by 8.40, we had no drinks, no food order taken and we could see no one behind the bar doing anything. We asked another table how long they'd been waiting and they said they were waiting on starters which were well overdue. We ended up leaving and told the waiter it was unacceptable to have to wait that long just for a drink, and he didnt try to stop us leaving. Really disappointing. I hope the service is addressed as its really damaging such a great restaurant.

I have been to this restaurant several times and about time I wrote a review 1. Food - a good selection of classic south indian food including dosas, idilys, vada samba ect. I had the samba vada as a side. The samba was very well balanced and vada tasty but would prefer on the side as like it crispy (personal preference). For the main I had there special dosa which was excellently spice but with bags of flavour. I would personally prefer the traditional crispy dosas as this was more pancake consistency. They have a decent selection of traditional dosas but fancied something different. I will just note my wife had had an eggplant dish which was sensational with smoky undertones from roasting the coconut. one of the best dishes I have tasted in some time.2. Value - very reasonable for the level of quality 3. Service - very friendly 4. Atmosphere - a little dull as the restaurant has very basic fit out and nut much buzz. Great if u fancied a chilled one and good chat . Will definitely be back for the food.

As this is South Indian origin....this is slightly different to your common standard Indian food which is all designed for the English pallet....The food is exceptionally fresh and very tasty.....and I love it....a lot.If you want speedy service this isn't for you - but it all makes for a full, relaxing evening.

We tried this restaurant for the first time, having never had South Indian food before. The food was very good and very tasty. We tried a few things we had never heard of, all were delicious. The staff are very friendly, though the service was a little slap dash at times. Would definitely go again if in the area. Yummy..

This small restaurant is so good that we eat their food once a week, sometimes as a takeaway, sometimes in the restaurant. The food is different from other Indian restaurants and has so much flavour. I highly recommend it. Don't look for the standard dishes on every other menu around. Their versions of the classics are far superior but there are things that are so different that they must be tried.
