The best restaurants serving Indian food in East of England

IMO Dildar is the best Indian restaurant in North Luton. I've been a customer for 20 years and have tried others but none match their service or taste, regardless of the dish ordered.

Visited The Shapla on a bit of a whim with a group of friends. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere surrounding. My friend got verbally assaulted by a member of staff (jokingly) and this entertaining, tailored customer service means I will be highly likely to return in the future. A restaurant isn't just about providing good food, it's about being able to understand the customer and tailoring your service approach. You can play it safe, or you can have a laugh and a joke - which is exactly what we received. I'll try to return without my friend and weird menu requests next time. I'll also try not to touch the hot table things too. So much fun.

We ordered the poppadoms, salim special, lamb aloowala, lamb biryani, chicken masala, sweet chilli chicken, chicken Karahi, onion rice, peshwari naan, and garlic naan. The salim special and lamb biryani were exceptional. The rest were very tasty. Excellent service and all the food is Halal.

Chicken pakora, lamb Tikka biriani and garlic nann.....absolutely amazing. Could not fault a thing .

First time visiting, Best experience I have ever tried the food was amazing can’t ask for better quality and service, the gentleman serving was absolutely polite I will 100% be returning and I 100% recommend this place to anyone

As usual the food and service were excellent.Waiters and time for food to arrive were excellent. Highly recommended for either sit in or home delivery.

Ordered the mixed grill which seemed to be pre-cooked and re-heated. Most of the meats were dry but the flavours were tasty. I was a little disappointed with my meal overall. The waiter appeared to be preoccupied and disappeared halfway through ordering the food. It felt as if we were doing him a favour.

I only ever have good things to say about star of India, their food is always delicious 😋 arrives on time and is good portion size, the only place I like to order from.

Food was late and cold. Waste of my money

If fancy a kerala meal, this is one of a couple of restaurants around cambridge that gives authentic dishes. The only downside is that the taste is not consistent always. Sometimes you will get tasty foods but not always. I had recently tried manthy and it was nice but before was disappointed by beef fry and chicken curry. Porotta is always good. Friendly staffs but parking is difficult in busy times.
