One of the hottest chicken Jalfrezi that I’ve had in my life!

Let's just say waiter needs to know the drinks menu. Polite enough guys but food bland and dishes served in thick heavy sauce, tables are too small and i would suggest opening just fridays/Saturdays and invest monies saved put into employing a chef who has knowledge on certain dishes. Maybe go have a meal in the cinnamon at North Weald Essex, who will show you how it's done.

Favourite Indian to eat at in Hitchin , never had a bad experience here. Food is always great and the members of staff have always been kind and very helpful when it comes to recommendations of new dishes.

Ordered a takeaway from here via just eat, total cost was £62.80, tried to order a bottle of cola with this order but the only drinks on offer was Cobra beer, of which we got one free for spending over £50. My partner called and asked that when we plcae the order could they bring the cola and we would pay cash to which they agreed. The just eat app then failed when trying to make the payment and we were actually advised of this by the restaurant, after trying again we decided to place the order direct with the restaurant. This exactly the same order now cost £68.75 and the driver had the cheek to charge us on delivery £3.50 for the bottle of cola, which we added to the second order placed direct!!! Not only was our order £9.45 more (with the cash for the cola), but to be charged twice for the cola is not acceptable. We were never given a receipt either! To top all of this off the food wasn't that great or hot, We could have had a much nicer Indian takeaway for less elsewhere, which we shall do in the future!

Food and service are really good and the menu is competitively priced. Only thing I would say is that service can be a bit slow which is not an issue if you are out to enjoy a leisurely meal as we were but could become one if you had somewhere else to be or were pressed for time

Ordered online. Waited 1,5 hour to receive the food. Food was below avarage. Im not going to order from them anymore, and i would not recomend.

Absolutely gutted - heard lots of good things about this place but in reality my order was delivered over an hour later than advised, and was cold by the time it arrived. I was advised by the restaurant I would get a full refund, but after requesting this through JustEat I've been informed I'm getting less than half of the order value back. Don't risk it.

Excellent flavoursome food cheaper than other places great customer service

Horrible and expensive. Bhuna had no flavour and was tinned tomatoes with crunchy onions, had to leave a tip when placing an online order?! Starter of chicken tikka I actually thought was someone’s unused leftovers (see picture) and was £4.50. Don’t order from here!!!!

Ordered a takeaway and we were so disappointed. The sauce was very watery and felt like it was microwaved. There was also little to no flavour. Paprika used to be the best spot in town and it’s really missed the mark now

Just had a takeaway and it was incredible! Every dish was delicious. We ordered a mix of meat, vegetarian dishes and starters and are all full and happy! We’ve ordered and visited a few times and never had a negative experience, the staff are all really lovely and friendly.

Although the service is consistently faultless at Paprika, the takeaway I ordered recently left a lot to be desired. Not much variety of veg in the Veg Dhansak (mainly cabbage) and the Lamb Dhansak was tough and chewy. Not the best.

Have tried various local Indian food visiting various restaurants apart from the one at Thurrock, Paprika Indian restaurant makes delicious authentic Indian food which is very tasty and not too pricey.

Visited after a delightful afternoon at the Hitchin beer festival. Just what was needed. The staff were very accommodating and answered our questions about the extensive menu. We went for the "Paprika special" and a northern Indian hot chilli tikka, the special was chicken stuffed with mince with peppers in a surprising sweeter sauce than I'd usually choose but it was delicious. The hot chicken curry didn't disappoint either. Two rice, two nans, a side of onion Baji and sag pannier finished the meal, all washed down with a kingfisher and a cobra. Both lagers crisp and refreshing after the ale at the beer festival.

Had a plain Naan bread and it had to be some of the best I've ever had. Currys were also very decent and to top it off the service was excellent 👌

Absolutely amazing restaurant. Some of the best Indian food I have had. The service was absolutely incredible- so much extra effort was made for us- including hot towels after food, and Ferraro chocolates as a little gift. The door was even opened for us on the way out! OUTSTANDING! Will definitely be back soon. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience partaking in the Christmas Banquet, when our original plans fell through on Christmas morning. Staff were wonderfully accommodating even though we didn’t have a reservation. Food was plentiful and of fantastic quality. Thank you again!

I'm vegetarian so the selection for me wasn't the greatest, but what I did order was fantastic and full of flavour. The rice dishes are a bit on the small side, but again absolutely they had beautiful flavour and presentation. Service was prompt and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would visit again if there were just a few more options for non meat eaters.

Best Indian for miles 5 STAR for everything

Been here three or four times over the last 12 months and every time it has been exceptional. I’m not particularly local, but when I do come this way this is definitely my go to Curry house.

A very upsetting experience just now. The first bad experience I’ve had ordering Indian takeaway. Despite having a very nice takeaway from here a month or so ago, tonight was something completely different and not on par with anything that should be sold to the public. It was just tubs of oil, not curry, and the chicken did not taste right, I hope I don’t get ill. How can this be allowed to happen. If you can’t serve food of an acceptable standard then you should not be serving anyone this, it’s quite frankly appalling and deeply disturbing. What a waste of money and time.

Paprika Hitchen have the most amazing customer service although I can't comment on the food. I STUPIDLY ordered food from them rather than the Paprika in Sevenoaks and despite the fact they had prepared my order and it was ready for collection when I called them from Paprika in Sevenoaks, they cancelled the order and refunded me. I'm so grateful for their kindness.

Really good takeaway experience. We asked them not to ring doorbell - because of sleeping baby - and they were very diligent in waiting by door and phoning. Food also excellent. Some unique dishes as well.

I had my eightieth birthday party with twenty two relatives and friends ages ranging from four to seventy and everyone said how wonderful the food and service is. I would.recommend them to everyone several guests who live in Essex said it will be worth travelling all that way to come again. Be aware of Paprika Indian restaurant 27 Nightingale Road Hitchin SG51QU as the staff are extremely rude and use bullying tactics to their customers, for example, we sat in their empty restaurant, ordered our food and they put some one next to us, and we ( because of covid) moved ourselves to another table, upon doing this a member of the staff started shouting at us and said we should have asked him his permission before moving, I might add we had not been served our food as yet, I told him of my Covid concerns, he said " it does not apply in this restaurant" !! and he continued shouting at us, so we said ok, you lose your order and we will leave your empty restaurant, which we did, his loss really for being so rude to customers who had placed a large order. I really didnt quite understand why he was shouting and so rude because we moved tables. So this is just to tell everyone what kind of reception you will get if you go to this restaurant

Paprika was one of the best Indians in Hitchin, unfortunately it’s gone down hill. We ordered tonight and We’ve never been so disappointed. The madras was like water, Bombay aloo like sweet and sour as was my prawn purée, pilau rice ok, nann bread we got plain and keema, plain you can’t go wrong, keema just spice less. What has happened, so sad now the worse Indians in town. I have taken a video of the curry but don’t know how to add. Can anyone help.

We had our work Xmas lunch. The food was delucious. Good waiter service to the table. Although if visit weekend choose a suitable can be loud.

This is the first place that we have been to eat inside since lockdown began and I have to say it was brilliant. The food was amazing and the service just as good. I thoroughly recommend this to all my friends and family.

This was one of the loveliest Restaurants around the area that fills your tummy and doesnt empty your wallet. You will find the decor to be soft to look at and relaxing. The restaurant was calm temperature with maintainence for hours no issue. The staff were welcoming and easy to talk to and approachable, may be name badges may help. The food was flawless, warm and mildly spiced, suited everyone. The food appeared freshly cooked and easy to manage, correct portions, flavour was amazing. Desserts seemed lacking in supply but understandable after COVID restrictions being lifted. Allowed privacy among the restaurant and relaxing. Toilets seemed standard may needs investing in the quality. Overall very satisfied and just small things to amend but will be back Thank you for the food and kindness that was passed to us

Food is always great here. Service is amazing, staff lovely and its our favourite place to eat for the past 2 years! We get take aways during lockdown but before we were always welcomed and service was great.

Another great take out from Paprika. Looking forward to getting back to dine in but the delivery service has never let us down. Always arrives hot, fresh and tastes great. I had the Ceylon for the first time and loved it along with some chapatis and the Paprika mixed starter.

Not used them before, won't again. Delivery food lukewarm, chicken Dopiaza was actually unpleasant and no spice to notice just greasy taste. Chicken Lahore was just plain dull again complete lack of noticable Indian spicing, just taste of tomato puree. They obviously forgot the Paprika. Onion Bahjii passable though lacking crispness as been allowed to cool, Pilau ok and naan tasty but cold. 2 stars is probably generous

Have used Paprika plenty of times and food is generally very good quality, but on my last visit for a takeaway food was average.

We've been going to Paprika for years and always get a warm welcome and have a good night. The last trip was just the same despite the obvious covid problems and prompt close at 10. I think some of the poppadoms and chutney could have been better this time, but the nans were fresh, light and tasted fantastic. Starters are a little small. Currys were good although the korma was a bit too sweet. Wine was good and well priced. All round great evening and we'll keep supporting our local and hope they get through this pandemic.

Wasn't happy with our takeaway, sauce was runny and tasted like vinegar, lamb was chewy and vegetables hard, no spices, im sorry we wanted to support a local business but will not be going again, its a shame really I don't like putting bad reviews but when you have to throw half of the food away, I think this is justified

Disappointed as our order had items missing. When we unpacked the bag we found that the popadoms and naan bread were missing. We have also ordered extra onion salad and mango chutney but nothing to have them with. The food for the main meal was tasty but overall disappointed with the service.

We used to eat here regularly on a Friday night when we lived round the corner. Always great friendly service and great fresh food. Even though we have moved to the other side of town, they are still our go-to Indian restaurant. Thoroughly recommended.

After a couple of recommendations we decided to try this restaurant. Food was excellent, fresh, hot and very tasty and most definitely not greasy ( as it is with some Indian restaurants) Service was lovely - polite friendly and not rushed We had a lovely relaxing meal, would defiantly recommend. We will be returning.

Visited on a Saturday early evening. The place was really busy considering it was only 7pm. Fortunately we weren’t in a rush, but the time we waited for our meals to arrive was ridiculous. We had to prompt the waiter for our starters and then again for our mains, and then they were hurried out. Service aside the food was excellent, couldn’t fault that at all. Whether we caught them at a busy period I don’t know, I haven’t been before so couldn’t compare.

Absolutely disgusted, ordered our food at 7:15 and it’s now 9 and still no food. Tried calling 10 times, got through only to have the phone put down on me. When we ordered we were told it would be an hour wait. Won’t be ordering again and it’s a shame because the food is lovely when you actually receive it.

Just been with the wife for a valentine's day meal . Staff were excellent. Food and service exceptional as normal . Lovely decorated restaurant and love heart tin of chocolates given to the wife as a gift. Fully recommend this restaurant.

Me and the family have been going here for many years now and you just can’t beat it in my opinion. Anyone that’s looking for a curry recommendation this is your place to go. The staff are class and the food follows that up. I can’t recommend one dish particularly as most I’ve had have been very good. My go to is the tandoori mixed grill which is spot on.

16 of us had a cracking night here, great food and great service! Superb banter supplied by the waitor but the jalfreezi burnt my face off 👌🏼

I have been to few Indian restaurants in Hitchin but was absolutely delighted to experience the customer service and food quality here at Paparika. Being vegetarians, there are plenty of choices here and our favourite is the Bhindi and Aalo Gobi. The chef always makes it as per our liking and genuinely good team of people running this place. I was deeply touched by their kindness when I was stuck in train and was originally supposed to pick up the food but the team delivered the food to my family at home and still gave me the discount (for pick up). Rehaan whom you will usually see at the counter is a delightful young man and passionate about his work and customer service. Looking forward to visiting them even more often

... This restaurant is normally busy and for good reason. The food is normally very good. So good that you can overlook the indifferent customer service. But this time everything was so red and so sweet. It was like eating koolaid porridge. The dishes were so uniformly red that the waiter could not tell which dish was which. Also a little subconscious bias methinks. I think they hear the same orders so often that they don't really respond when you change your option or mind slightly. Like my hot water became tap water with ice, and my friends chicken balti became lamb balti. Its England and its winter. Who really wants Ice water?They seem to ask how the meal is at the end as a matter of course not out of any genuine interest or ability to rectify the problem. I would eat here again, but not in a hurry and only because everything else near the area is stand up or takeaway. On this occasion the atmosphere and company was better than the food. My friend paid for my meal and I am glad he did. I will pay him back by grabbing a meal at another restaurant with him.

There were a large group of us (22) and the restaurant managed very well and most people enjoyed there food. The service is always very good and the staff very pleasant We are regular visitors but usually in much smaller groups and would recommend this restaurant.
