Great friendly service by our waiter Maksud. He was very patient with us while we took ages to decide what we wanted. He kept our glasses full and looked after us. The food was amazing and it was lovely to speak to the chef as well. This isn't the 1st times we have been to the Mint leaf and it definitely will not be our last. Thank you for a great meal.

Quite simply the best Indian restaurant in Hitchin.

First time here, and having tried most other Indian restaurants in Hitchin, I really believe this is the best. Every dish was delicious (best tarka dahl I've ever had) and they even had an Egg Curry which is my favourite! Nothing was covered in inches of oil, the korma was perfectly coconutty and not too sweet. My only criticism is that the whole place needs a deep clean.... dirty floors and carpets, smeary windows, etc. That being said, i will for sure return.

Banquet night on a Wednesday is terrific value and the food was good. Chutney portions were on the small side but I guess I could have asked for more and squid was a little tough but still tasty

Been looking forward to coming back here for 3 years. We discovered this place on a previous weekend in Hitchin and remembered how good it was. The food was outstanding, the service was polite and swift and the value was fabulous given the amazing quality of the food. As usual with such places I wanted to try about a dozen things on the menu. We will visit again next time we are here. Thankyou to the staff for a great evening.

The food was very good but the service and ambience were disappointing. We had booked and had email confirmation 3 was ahead. When we arrived they said we didn’t have a booking and even when we showed them their confirmation were still in denial. It took us 45 mins to place our order. The upstairs room is very noisy and the tables are too close together. The restaurant is in a lovely old historic building but it is very tired and noisy , even for a busy Saturday evening. Not sure we would go back in a hurry or recomend

Have eaten here many times since it opened and thought I'd try the banquet night @ £14.95 ( poppadoms and chutneys , starter ,main ,side ,rice or Naan ) food superb as always ,great value for money midweek or Sunday

Not sure if it's a new name or new management but nice food with great choice of menu. Average price. Nearest parking is Sainsbury's This time we had food delivered. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get the food and it was lukewarm. Not only that, the side dish was missing. After negotiation, they finally agreed to send my missing item, this was the only item which was hot.

It has been such a wonderful experience eating here. The staff have been so wholesome and welcoming. Myself being Vegan and my partner a meat eater. He loved the lamb shashlik and I had ceylon with vegetables, we shared poppadoms to warm up. They cook their food fresh each day, meaning you can ask to make most items vegan (without ghee). This has made our experience here so easy and welcoming. The decor is cosy and rich. The old fireplace walling and beams makes the room what it is. Could not rate this place enough. Grumpiest waiter ever but food was excellent so made up for it.

I don’t really like Indian food BUT Mint leafs food is AMAZING! Super yummy and we ordered a lot of different dishes to share so I can totally say that I tried a bunch of the menu and nothing to complain what so ever! I recommend this place, although the environment is a bit boring but the delicious food makes up for it

hi every one, just to give a bit off update on this place went there today the manager was extremely rude after i had the starter menu, because the food was no so tasty and i did refuse to have the main course, and he was gone mad with his attitude, he was saying the he should have a order all the food in 1st go when i did place the order for the starter, because of such bad attitude i would not recommend any one to go this place at all, first reson when you enter it smells so disgusting and after all this bad experience i would never go again thanks.

The staff at mint leaf were so welcoming and they helped us to set up for our friends birthday - even blowing up balloons. They catered for many people with ease. The food was delicious too.

just wow !! That was my first tine having Indian food and that was amazing !! The service : perfect The portions : just incredible (big) The price : EXCELLENT for exemple i paid £10 for a vegan rogan (the portion was big), roti bread and a vege samosa a really nice experience Thank you very much I will definitely come back ☺️

Group of four friends came here for dinner on a recommendation and thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Food was excellent and the waiters were all very attentive. We were given complimentary drinks and lots of banter. Ask for the Butter Chicken “authentic style” - it was excellent. We will definitely be back!

My partner and I were holidaying from Australia. During our stay here in Hitchin, we came across this beautiful Indian Restaurant whilst roaming around the area. We had dinner here and the food were so delicious. Greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Many thanks especially to Ahmed who made our dining a beautiful experience. Ahmed was very professional and polite. He showed us the menu and recommended us the popular dishes. Indeed, a recommended place to dine here in Hitchin. Travellers should not miss. Very attentive service....Food was really good - rarely have we found another Indian restaurant that matches our local one. Can't understand the negative reviews regarding tough/chewy meat - both the Lamb and chicken were really tender.. Would recommend the Papri Chat starter - unusual and tasty! Both main courses - Bombay Chicken and Naga Jhal Lamb - were delicious. we will be back.

Really bad overall experience! I’ve never left a Google review before but feel strongly about this! There was NO atmosphere in the restaurant at all! We asked for our drinks and poppadoms and the waiter forgot the poppadoms so had to ask again! We also asked twice for our tap water and for our food order to be taken. We also didn’t get the onion bhajis we ordered. It was honestly unbelievable! We asked for the bill after the meal and after a while just decided to get up and go down to the main desk where we were asked to wait even longer! We then got the bill and it had the bhajis on it so they had to take them off. The waiter apologised for the service and the wait for the food so it was clear that there was a problem. Even if the service had have been good, the atmosphere was so so bad! A REALLY faint sound of music and bright lighting. The food was fine but overall it was a really bad experience regarding the service and atmosphere. Will NOT be returning!

Waited an hour and a half for starters, was in there 3 hrs ìn total. Burnt naan bread, very hit and miss with what sides we got

Despite booking a table for 8 people 3 days in advance, we arrived to no booking. They managed to squeeze us onto a table for 6 but 2 hours later and we still had no food. The restaurant is chaotic and badly run and there were a lot of unhappy diners. We gave up on our meal at 10pm and left having eaten nothing other than a poppadom. A dreadful experience and we definitely won’t be going back.

Booked a table last night, which they confirmed by phone call, only to arrive on time to find no reservation. Managed to seat us (7 squashed onto a table for 6) and after a 2 hour wait fir food, we gave up and left hungry. Chaotic and poorly run Indian with staff that couldn’t careless. Definitely avoid.

Seven of us booked last night. We should have known there was going to be issues when we walked in. They said they hadn’t got our booking despite confirming during the day. However they did have a table for us with six place settings?? After being sat at the table for 15 mins we had to ask for the menu and drinks. We had to ask three times for water and after 45 mins sat there had to find someone to take our food order. After chasing many times for our food where they kept saying 5 mins! 1 HOUR AND 55 MINS LATER WE WALKED OUT! The worst service I have experienced ever in a restaurant!

Fantastic food in here! Lovely menu, largely of dishes you've never heard of, compared to your regular Indian. The lamb tawa taka tak is awesome! Kids enjoyed it, staff very friendly, as were fellow patrons. Really enjoyed it, and will be back again! (Again 😉)

Myself and my partner dine here regularly and have collected the odd take away too. The restaurant is in a Tudor building and has a nice atmosphere with its wooden beams. The upstairs is less so with its carpeted flooring. The staff are always welcoming and polite. The food here is authentic and truly excellent. I usually have a house speciality king prawn dish as a main and share a pilau rice with my partner. He usually has a chicken house speciality. We normally have a side dish or two also. The servings of the mains are substantial with large pieces of chicken and many prawns. The choice of beers and wine is good too. A nice selection of desserts are available too. There are also fine starters but on this occasion we didn't have any. The price is slightly more expensive than the average Indian restaurant but it's justified as the quality here is so much better. We will always return.

I have ordered the vegetarian Vegetable "Thoran" dish several times now. It is absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

My visit to the this restaurant was my first and most definitely my last! My chicken was so chewy and the masala sauce tasted very strange! The rice was grey looking and the salad garnish was a joke! The manager was having non of it that the food was terrible and for some stupid reason we agreed to pay 50% of the bill???

Really enjoy eating there, mango chicken, paneer karahi, lime and coconut rice and tarka dal are our go to favourites. Mango lassi is great. Portions are generous. Good allergen awareness. Baby/ family friendly, staff are very helpful and kind. Downstairs is a bit tight and crowded, you can always ask to be seated upstairs but then it's trickier and longer for the food to get to you - the building is listed and they can't install a lift because of the wooden beams positions.

Sadly my birthday meal with friends was ruined by being served inedible food, that had to be sent back, although still expected to pay half the cost; stupidly we did. I had chicken tikka garlic balti, the sauce was tasteless, the chicken was chewy and didn’t resemble a balti at all. Needless to say I can’t recommend and most certainly will not be returning!

for the first time with friends and was so disappointed. Ordered starters which all arrived with 70’s salad and a very odd tasting brown sauce! My main course was lamb tikka which is possibly the worst thing I’ve ever eaten (tried one piece). It was dry and had obviously been reheated, again with the 70’s salad and brown sauce. The manager insisted that it was because they use ‘real lamb’! As I had ordered lamb I was a little confused by that explanation. I was in a party of 4 and we all sent our food back uneaten. When we requested the bill we were charged full price for the starters and drinks (fair enough, we had eaten them) and given 50% off the mains and sides we had not.! Needless to say I won’t be recommending or returning.

Tried Mint Leaf for the first time this evening. The food was delicious! We often visit Hitchin and have never been before, so after a couple of pints we thought we would give it a try, and were not disappointed! Sunday was a banquet night, which was great value and after this evening we will definitely return again. Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Would recommend the chicken Dansak and Mango Coriander Chicken to other visitors!

I ordered lamb tikka as a main meal I asked the waiter if the lamb was tender he assured me that it was . The meal I was served was dried over cooked lamb with no flavour at all accompanied by a wilting lettuce leaf and a slice of cucumber . Asked to see the manager he argued for some time with me that it was tender lamb. Which was vey embarrassing and a totally unacceptable way to run a restaurant.

We’ll have tried a few around are area and can say I would definitely use Mint again. The veg rice had a lovely flavour and good amount of veg. Nice slightly spiced taste to it. Lamb korma was lovely and the tikka Rohan went down...

Very tasty food and great service. Only concern was the heater was not working upstairs (which staff apologised for) but the meal was valid for money and we will go again.

One of the worst experiences from a restaurant we’ve had. We ordered food online for delivery. The website indicates that their service time was 45 min - 1 hour. But the food arrived two hours late. We were all hungry. And to top off that when we asked for a refund to the person delivering the order, he flat out lied that he was just the delivery person when in fact he was the manager! (which was informed to us by the person at the reception over the phone). They didn’t even have the professional courtesy of trying to calm their hungry dissatisfied customers. And to top that off the food was not that great with the prawn curry just being awful. Definitely giving just giving 1 star because anything less is not possible. We hope the management can take constructive actions.

Food is ok, I only had a mild curry with coconut & lime rice which was nice. Building is old and qwerky which added character to the place. But that's as much as I can say about this curry house. Another one ticked of the list, but I wouldn't rush back.

Amazing. First time trying Mint Leaf tonight after using Paprika for many years - have to say, Mint Leaf will be our new regular go-to for Indian Food. Everything was brilliant - incredible mix of unique flavours, the breads were light and delicious, poppadoms fresh and crisp.. nothing was oily, nor any chewy meat. Honestly, 10/10, recommend.

Shocking. Don't ever eat here. Ordered through the 'Mint Leaf' App and expected to receive the offer of 10% discount for collection but when arrived was charged full price with no negotiation. Told it was because we ordered through a third party but we ordered through the mint leaf app which automatically opens when you try to order through their website. I won't be coming back. Lots of choices for Indians in hitchin, I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

The food here is so good and the staff so nice. I absolutely love the food here but I always find hairs in my food- has happened multiple times so maybe a thought on hair nets? Besides that though the food is so good and reasonably priced!!!

Excellent meal again at the Mint Leaf. Great service, great food and Bangla Beer. The poppadoms and pickles are always good, We like the sharer starter plates and we each have our favourite dishes. My wife loves the Chicken Korma and I the Patia But we both agree that the lamb samosas and the onion Bhaji are a must. don't miss out on the Nan, and wait until the ladies attention is distracted before dipping it in her korma sauce. Kingfisher, and Cobra are available but if you ask really nicely you can get one of my (not really mine but sourced at my behest) bottles of Bangla, once you have tried it I doubt the others will be in with a chance. The staff are always good and cannot do enough for you. There is some seating downstairs (around 14 or 16 covers I think) and a much larger area upstairs which can be used either if downstairs is full or if you want to bring a larger party. It is getting ever busier and it is best to phone beforehand and book a table but please avoid booking the night I want to come!
