I’ve been meaning to try Chilli lounge for awhile. We booked the Wednesday special. Service very good, choices on menu excellent. Starter delicious, main course spot on.Washed down with a couple of ice cold Cobra’s. We will happily visit again.

Unhurried service and delicious food. Definitely visiting here again.

Ordered a take-away. The food is really good, but they clearly gave me someone else's order. Ordered Lamb Vindaloo with pilau rice. Got Chicken Tikka Masala with beans and vegetable rice. Some other person must have had my order instead!

Enjoyed a fabulous evening at the Chilli Lounge. The food was really good. I really enjoyed my chicken Naga. And the onion bhaji was excellent. Our waiter Lee, was excellent and attentive but did not rush us. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Looking forward to my next visit.

Found this bit of plastic in our curry, clearly a cutting off a packet of ingredients - plastic cover with a foil lining. The waiter tried to convince us (a total of 5 times) that it was a spice. I am an Indian (and I have a few brain cells) so I know what spices look like! Wish they could have just apologised. We got £9 off the £113 bill and no admission of any fault, in fact the waiter was rude and abrupt and hard to have any sensible conversation with. Horrible experience, would not recommend. Perhaps if you do dare to visit, you could ask them to not include this ‘spice’ in your curry!

Had a great curry here last night. Three of us had starters and mains and a couple of drinks. It was fairly early in the night so not very busy. Waiters and the new waitress were attentive and efficient. The manager made us feel welcome. We got a mix of spicy and plain poppadoms which were good and the dips usual and tasty. The starters were decent. I had the vegetable samosa which had a small kick to it. The others liked theirs. For main I had a prawn tandoori masala and it was delicious. Had some pilau rice with it too. Apparently the fish curry is pretty spicy so be warned :) I had the ferrero pudding which was good too. We drank cobra and Campari. All fine on the drinks front. So yes it was a good experience and I would go back.

Been here twice now,always very busy but the staff keep you informed and prefer not to be rushed. Good selection on menu and staff always keen to help out. Waiters always ask if we needed more drinks when they pass which I liked. Food has been good on both occasions, the service is good and I like the touch at the end being asked by either the owner or manager how we liked the meal. Not rushed either.

Abbas & the team hosted a Charity Fundraiser for Stevenage Kadoma Link Association, showing their support by opening their doors especially for the event. Everyone had a wonderful evening, the food was super tasty and came out hot. Feeding 35 people at one time is not easy but the team did a wondeful job at keeping us well fed and all with smiles on their faces. One guest was on a restricted diet and Abbas made sure he accomdated them so they could still participate in the evening The event was wonderful & such a great success. Many of those that attended have already been back to see the team again. I really enjoyed the menu Abbas put together, I was able to experience food i wouldnt normally order. I enjoyed it so much i took home the left overs!

Great service, great food I would definitely recommend

Although the service is good, the food is below standard. Lack of spices in the curry's and samosa's weren't made fresh in house as they were tiny with hardly any filling, and very much like what Iceland sell. If you want authenticity then this Indian restaurant is not for you.

Joined a charity fund raiser there. It opened its doors especially for 40 on a ussually closed Monday night. Worked out perfectly. Food was a shared menu commencing with a pile of papadoms and dips. Followed by a selection of starters to try. Three main dishes meant you could try from mild to hot. Servicexwas great and the chef even came out after and asked whether we had had enough. Stuffed! Great night and great fund raiser for raising school fees for kids in Zimbabwe.

Recommend by friends, service very slow but manager explained very short staffed. Food, starters and mains were very good, lager cold and bottle of wine chilled, staff pleasant, although under pressure.

Went with a small group, we are planning a charity fundraising night here in the New Year. Charming staff, brilliant service, really delicious and well presented food and excellent value! I really enjoyed my shashlik chicken. No wonder they achieve accolades! Looking forward to going back 😋

I was in the area and felt hungry so I decided to visit the Chilli Lounge. I walked in and there were no staff about. Eventually a waiter signalled to me that he would be with me. He escorted me to a table and said he would get me a menu. He was keen to try and get me a drink but I said I wanted to order some food. Shortly afterwards another waiter came over with an electronic tablet to take my order but he could not get it to work so he went and got a pad and a pen. Sometimes technology is not always better ;) I ordered my food and it arrived. It was excellent and really tasty. The staff were very friendly and polite. Had it not been for the wait to order I would have given 5 stars.

Service was absolutely dreadful, bar staff didn't have a clue that they were doing, wrong dishes got delivered and food was extremely bland with no spice at all. Wouldn't be in a hurry to return.

We have been eating in the Chilli Lounge since it was taken over by the present owners Abbas and Manek. We have eaten in all of the 5 Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants in Baldock and, now and again, try the others. The quality and value of the Chilli Lounge remains unsurpassed. The Chilli Lounge takes a real pride in serving freshly prepared authentic food and sometimes this results in a wait. I have to say, though, over the last few weeks, service has been quicker, despite the restaurant becoming busier. The delay doesn't really bother us too much, since we enjoy making the most of the evening and don't want to be in and out in an hour. Other restaurants bring the food straight out, an indication that the sauces are all mass prepared in advance. If we're in a hurry, we'll get fish n chips. : ) We love the atmosphere, the restaurant is in one of the older, traditional buildings in Baldock, and the features have been highlighted rather than hidden. Staff wear red and black, reflecting the 'chilli' theme and there are red chairs and white tablecloths. Service is always friendly and we enjoy talking to the staff when they are less busy. You really can learn a lot about the food and culture if you want to. So, highly recommended. : )

Before I get into the things that they did which REALLY annoyed me, I should say that my actual dinner was really nice. Before we got to the main course though, they suggested poppadoms and then REALLY suggested that we have two each. We agreed to two each. They brought us twenty, between the eight of us – rather than sixteen. These were all charged, with an additional chutney charge, which came to a pound each. It was not a lot of chutney – just a row of square pots like you might get plastic cacti in, if shopping in a famous Scandinavian retailer – and certainly not enough for that many poppadoms. Rather than use the time of the poppadom kerfuffle to prepare our meals, they only took our orders after we had finished the poppadoms. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, which is available in mild or medium. I emphasized three times that I wanted it in the medium setting but he would not acknowledge my point. I don't know which it came in, but it was really nice. The naan would also have been nice, had they not cut it in four. They might not know that I like my food served whole but that is REALLY important to me and their cutting it in four spoiled it for me. It was also a nice touch that they offered complimentary drinks at the end but we all declined them. I might go back, because the actual dinner was really nice and I liked that it ended with waffer thin mints, but I would be a lot more specific with my ordering than I should need to be.

Terrible ….. have now been waiting over one hour 45 mins for a take away. Have rung up twice and each time told 5 mins. Still no food they clearly have forgotten us. Very very bad service

The Chilli Lounge has gone through a few changes over the year. Starting off as an Italian, and then an Indian restaurant, with sometimes less than desirable meals, this is now serving the best Indian meals cooked by an award winning chef. We went back to basics and had a Chicken Bhuna rather than a ‘speciality’ dish as it’s nice to know how the basics are handled. All we can say that it was fabulous, and well worth the wait (there were a few large tables in at the time). Spices were just right. A good red wine to serve with the meal which cut through any spice or heat. The staff were really chatty and friendly. A good choice of restaurant in a town with at least four good Indians!

Went with 2 friends on Saturday night .Great setting in the busy part of baldock just off the high Street .restaurant looks great if your not too rall you can dine in the old open fire very nice otherwise great place staff superb and on the ball with all our questions bout our friends gluten requirements. I had the poppadoms of course followed by chicken passanda with mushroom rice wonderful. If you like great Indian food, this is definitely the place .the food takes a bit long but its cooked to order and is hot and incredibly tasty so if you like talking and not in a hurry this is the best Indian restaurant in baldock. Even when the power cut happened the staff brought candles and had a great sense of humour. 10/10 .chilli lounge we will be back 🙂

Had a really good takeaway from here, we had tarka dal, veg samosas, paneer mattar (cheezy peas to all you Fast Show fans), potato fritters (name escapes me) and naan bread, all piping hot and tasty, staff very friendly, defo use again

Let me say that the Chilli lounge is excellent for meat and vegetable sides. However, the vegetable balti was one of the worst Indian dishes I've ever had from a takeaway. I'd lay a bet that most of this dish came from a packet of frozen Birds Eye mixed veg. Carrots have no place in a curry. No interesting vegatables. Just onion, peas, carrots, limp green beans, Cauliflower. A cheap nasty vegatables curry, priced up as a Balti. Overall, appalling.

The food here is incredible, and really reasonably priced. Recommend the lamb tikka masala, and the chicken biryani. The service is always impeccable, they manage to keep you feeling happy and always know when you need something, without hovering around too much. The atmosphere is lovely, spacious and always a treat to be there. Our favourite Indian restaurant in town!

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Recommended by friends and the food was fantastic, service and atmosphere great. We live in Royston, have a very good Indian restaurant on our doorstep but will be returning to the Chilli Lounge.

Eating in house or takeaway, cannot get better value or tasty food in my opinion. Have eaten in and the service is awesome also.

I ate at the Chilli Lounge recently with a friend - and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the amazing food ever since! I can honestly say that the food I had at the Chilli Lounge, is the BEST Indian food I’ve ever tasted!! The onion salad, pickle, chutneys and sauces that accompanied the poppadoms were out of this world - a real treat for the tastebuds. So much so, that I asked to keep them - to accompany the main meal. I had vegetable dhansak - which I asked to be made to a medium heat, rather than hot. Oh wow!!! I didn’t want it to end! Absolutely delicious. The staff were kind, courteous and just wonderful. Thank you so much Chilli Lounge!

My daughter treated us, a very last minute decision, as she won a Swim England Award and wanted to celebrate. She couldn't have chosen better. The food was stunning. The naan bread is not usually anything i would go out of my way for, but the husbands naan bread looked fab, i tried some..... wow just wow. Presentation on point. Taste was everything you would want. Service was splendid. Kept apologing for short delays, but honestly it gave us longer to enjoy the culinary delights. Will definately be going back!!! I've been her a handful of times over the last two or three years but last night's meal was exceptionally good. The onion bhajis were possibly the lightest I've ever tasted, the lamb kalinja a superb balance of spice and taste and the mushroom bhaji really tasted of mushrooms! Brilliant, please keep it up.

Popped in on the off chance on a Sunday afternoon (fathers day), the managed to squeeze 2 of us in. Wasn't disappointed, food was really nice & service was even better. My prawn puri starter was packed with prawns which was nice. Would definitely recommend & will be going back.

I had not been to the Chille Lounge for about 5 or 6 years prior to tonight, but I’m very glad me and my family chose to dine there. Food was 10/10, the atmosphere created was lovely and service was quick. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We have been eating here for over 10 years usually every week and have never had a meal we have been unhappy with. Every meal is always consistent and they will adapt any meal to your taste. The staff are very friendly a special mention to Abbas and Manik . Please try the restaurant you won’t be disappointed.

Went here with my family on a busy evening leading up to Christmas. Both the food and service were of exceptional quality. Our waiter was warm, friendly, attentive and really personalised the customer experience. The curries were first class - plentiful and bursting with flavour....

We were in a group of four diners who attended this restaurant on the 17/09/21. During the early hours of that night we became very ill with severe stomach upsets which continued well into the following day, this can only have been caused by something...

I randomly chose this restaurant when my usual one couldn't fulfil my order for some reason. I was a bit suspicious at first when I saw the tandoori chicken wasn't bright red like the others make it. However I was very pleasantly surprised when I tasted it. The chicken was very tender and not overly dried out and had a very pleasant spicy flavour perhaps a bit hotter than the standard ones. The vegetable curry and nans were also perfect - I will definitely be using this establishment in future.

Had a meal here yesterday, the food was great although the service was a bit slow considering how empty the place was. Paid cash, waited for my change to be returned to me, but instead the till was shut and I think one of the two waiters shoved some notes into his back pocket. Waited a short while for him to come back to our table with my money, but instead the two men started heading towards the kitchen so I asked for my change. They went back behind the bar and fiddled about, then came back with my £15. Maybe they thought that I would be too scared to challenge them, but this is not the way to get yourselves a tip! Incidently, they were on course to get one, until they tried this stunt and tried to keep double the amount of a 10% gratuity. Bad luck guys, this action also earnt you a 1 star review!

We are huge fans of Indian food and always end up coming back to Chili Lounge. Lovely, fresh food and on time when you have ordered. Love their dansak and we often get free poppadoms thrown in. Highly recommend.

Abbas knows his stuff and Chilli Lounge is the best of Baldock. Take away service during lockdown is still as good and try a Chicken Chat with puri. You won't be sorry.

Always found the food is always of a high standard. Tonight they surpassed themselves service good and friendly. Started with Lamb Tikka excellent I normally have the King Prawn Pathia but tried the Tammerind for change which was even better. Whole experience was exemplary

I spent the last couple of weeks in England and Wales seeing family and friends. I have been a curry fan since Uni days and this meal was excellent and the service exemplary. I couldnt have been happier with this genuine dinner.The lamb tikka was tender, juicy and tasty and the highlight of my meal. My friend had an excellent Chicken marsala and the mushroom, spinach et al side dishes completed an excellent supper.Oh, a gratis appetizer of a lamb kebab was the icing on the cake!
