Orderd a takeaway to collect was ready on time .And it was very good and taste great will be back again

Had a birthday curry party of 12 last night. Friendly and helpful staff. Cracking food. Especially as we were a mixed group of vegan and meat eaters and the staff helped everyone with orders. We’ll be back!

We have a takeaway from here regularly and it is always super tasty. The delivery guys are always really friendly and we thank them. Last time the onion bhajis were missed from our meal and we called them to let them know. To be honest, I forgot about it but this time, when I ordered online, they called to check and added the bhajis to the order. What more can you ask for in terms of customer service and tasty food? Excellent. Thank you.

Wish I knew about this place sooner! A big group of us were graciously welcomed, as the only vegan/ non meat eater in the group, I was delighted the vegan options were clearly labelled. The food was honestly delicious and I was excited to eat my leftovers the next day! The bring your own bottle policy is FAB as we could all drink exactly what we wanted. Thank you to all the staff at khushma for looking after us :)

A nice small Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant with a good menu of real traditonal dishes. I had a madras curry which was almost too much for one person, and almost hot enough to be a vindaloo. Excellent, one of the best I've ever had. Great service. Reasonable price. Thing to note is they do not sell alcohol but customers are welcome to take their own drinks with them and no corkage is charged. The reason simply is that with the current inflation levels etc it's not economic for a small outfit to stock a variety of different drinks. Throughly recommended.

Thursday evening meal with the wife while the kids were at activities. Great food and attentive staff.

Had take away curries from here previously and really enjoyed but tonight we were really disappointed, might as well as an English stew, threw it to the foxes, phoned to complain but they weren't even interested

I had chicken ceylon, my husband had chicken shatkora bhubaneswar, food absolutely delicious and prompt delivery. Tried other takeaways this is best by far, 100%.

More expensive to have delivered than other Indian restaurants in the town. Pupperdums had to be bought seperately whereas othwr restaurants give them free with an order. The food was okay but not exciting and I was a bit disappointed. The curry was mostly chilli heated, rather than spices amd flavouring and onion bhaji were more gram flour than onion. The name was good, as was the sag bhaji.

Haven't eaten in (yet), but this is hands-down the best curry in Hitchin. I've tried them all and settled on Kushma a couple of years ago. Lovely staff, and loads of vegetarian options (Paneer shashlik being a favourite) and Quorn variations. Generous portion sizes too. We love Kushma!

Delicious food and excellent service

Really pleased to have found a local takeaway with a wide range of dishes that are or can be made suitable for vegans - very helpful & quick response to my questions, speedy delivery & a delicious meal enjoyed by all. Thank you so much Khushma Cottage - I'm already planning what to order next weekend!

I did get in contact with the restaurant the following day, but didn't get a reply. Takeaway turned up on time.... then it goes down hill. Needed to heat up as takeaway as COLD. Chicken biryani was tasteless. Won't use again and have removed there contact from my phone.

Lovely Indian takeaway and really good at ensuring vegan-friendly.

Got all the way home to see that they'd forgotten half of my order. No refund. The half that was actually in the bag was the worst bhaji I've ever had, basically tasteless boiled mushrooms.

Ordered takeaway a few times during lockdown and was really impressed, so finally got to the restaurant this week. They have an enormous selection of traditional curries and speciality dishes, and vegetable / Quorn options for most (there is a vegan Quorn option available on request). The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious.

Turned up late. Asked for a veggie dish with heat and the food they served up was one of the best curries I've had in ages.

First visit and we were delighted with the staff and the food. Will certainly return.

I have always appreciated the Kushma, being close to home and quick and easy to pick up takeaways. They deliver too, which has always been fairly prompt. The small dining in restaurant is often full of people i know who have been loyal for a long time, but over the past two years or so, under new management and a bit of a "makeover" the restaurant has imporved immensely and brought in a new fan base. The menu is very diverse and has something for everyone on iot . Many of the Bangladeshi dishes you will not find elsewhere, although they have a solid range of classics for traditionalists. the specials - particularly fish - are worth a try and sometimes exceptional. also they seem to have made an effort to keep their dishes and sauces "light" and less fatty than others. They are shut on Mondays for a well earned rest!. I hope they are remaining open through the Corona crisis, although with a small team any illness will affect them, so here's hoping. When the crisis is over, i will defeineitely be going for a "sit down" at the Kushma with friends.

I really enjoyed this place. The impression is of something solid and traditional. Can't fault the service. Has a great reputation for the food. The food that my friends had certainly looked at lot better than the basic chicken tikka masala and plain rice I had! Would I go back? Yes. If I lived in the area I can see this place being on my regular list for sure.

I reviewed the Kushma a couple of years ago and I wasn’t happy. But times change and our meal and service here tonight was delightful

I'm not a big fan of Indian food but what I had was delicious. Its a very small cosy place, we had come down to Hitchin from North Wales, and the waiter couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. My friends really enjoyed the 3 course Wednesday night special. Its in a very nice quiet area of Hitchin. A little gem really, thank you for making us feel so welcome after a long tiring day.

Often drop in to the Kushma after a couple of beers elsewhere. Last nights service and meal warranted a review as all was 'top notch' in every way. What is there to fault about the friendly service, two tasty chicken mains served on sizzling dishes, a side, shared rice and naan, and two big bottles of beer, all for £38.00. Keep up the good work.

Great service but mediocre food, onion bahji very dry and Lamb didn't taste very nice, in fact I doubt it was lamb!

This is a regular eating place for my partner and I... The food is good, and always tastes fresh... Highly recommended...

We live local but have never tried this restaurant. On a friends advice we took some friends there with reasonably high expectations. We were seated at 7pm - its a tiny room (more like someones living room) but warm and cosy - could do with a revamp if i'm honest. So many restaurants in the area to choose from that the competition is high.We ordered fairly quickly and our poppadoms and drinks arrived reasonably quickly. What I should mention is that there were many people coming in and out collecting take away's. By 20.15 our food had not arrived. We have already chased it up once and was given the 'really sorry were busy speech' in my mind - stop taking takeaway order's and serve the three tables that have been waiting over an hour.. it fell on deaf ears... 15 minutes later our food arrived. To be fair it was piping hot and delicious but by this time to hunger had gone off me at 20.40 when the food finally met my mouth. All in all- great food - terrible service and the chap did not seem to care. He offered us no discount or free drink either as a good will gesture. I get they are a small business and Saturday is a key money making day for them but you don't leave seated customers waiting that long - our bill was over £150 (4 adults 4 children) who were tired bunnies by the time the meal was over.. We paid and left and will not return... Disappointed is an understatement.

Terrible customer service. Poor quality , cold food, small portion, incorrect order. Called to request refund with no customer relations, refuse to refund order, don't waste your time here, go to curry express!

You can always rely on kushma cottage for amazing food. It's decent priced but honestly one of the best take away and indians in hitchin. The people who work there are always very friendly too.

We’ve now tried quite a few of the Indian takeaways in Hitchin. This was our 1st time ordering from here. Overall, very decent food with good flavours and wasn’t oily like other take away curries. I had 2 slight gripes. Firstly was the portion size. All three of our tin foil cartons were only half full - disappointing given that we really enjoyed the flavour of the curry gravy. Secondly the chicken breast pieces were dry and as result slightly chewy. We will order from here again so let’s hope they fill their cartons full next time!

A small Indian restaurant, under new management, with excellent food. Had an excellent meal after just popping in.

Kushma cottage didnt disappoint..we had a very good take away with friends. Veg dhansak really good quite hot..had with pilau rice and peshwari nan..yum!

Great food, lovely little place

We've been to the restaurant and had take-aways. The food is always delicious and the atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed and friendly. My husband has said it is the best Indian food he has had and I would have to agree.

We really love this restraunt, the food is always so fresh and full of flavour to a high quality, it's never swimming in oil like other Indian restraunts I have been to and the staff go out of their way to make the customer feel special. If you haven't tried this place yet I would definitely recommend to go as it's by far the best place in hitchin for food and the friendly staff!

Excellent anglo-Bsngladeshi food in an intimate setting with really friendly an helpful staff.

Six of us went here after watching the Saracens v Wasps match, never been before, never even noticed the place for that matter and I must have passed it loads of times (from the outside it just looks like a take-away!) but what a good choice it turned out to be. all of us ordered different dishes and all of us had very good meals. The service was fine the Cobra was cold, all in all we had a good time.

Staff were friendly but Madras was not very hot and the meat was a bit sparce

I had high hopes for the food from Khushma cottage, being a restaurant as well as a takeaway. I had read mixed reviews about the korma, a lot saying it was tasteless and watery which unfortunately proved to be true, it was very tasteless and fluid with a hint of coconut, chicken was very chewy. I understand they may neglect this dish slightly as it is seen as a very entry level basic dish mostly ordered by white folk that aren't 'into' their curries much but I think this is something they need to address as id imagine it is certainly a popular dish within the community the restaurant is based in

My favourite place to have dinner in Hitchin. I've to say that after coming in and trying so many different dishes I was never let down.

This small and immaculate restaurant is family owned and has been serving the local area for over 20 years. The food is always good, and the dishes reflect Bangladeshi specialities. It's great for takeaways too.

Reasonably priced and really tasty curry. We picked up to eat w friends as not too far away. Bit disappointed when one of the dishes was wrong but they put it right giving us extra poppadums and chutney by way of an apology. Would happily visit again.

What a fantastic restaurant this is. I have been going here for over 20 years and it's always been the same, Excellent. Service always first class, food the best in the U.K., hospitality second to none. Have had a few takeaways from here recently including last night and have really enjoyed them. They have some dishes that I haven't come across before which makes a change from the usual curry menu, they also have daily specials. Staff are very friendly. Used to go to the Raj Douth which is OK, but this is now my favourite.

Had the banquet night was the best food and lots off it, service and staff very friendly. Will go back there again.

Whilst drinking with my business partner in the pub next door we started having a chat with the owner of the khushma cottage talking extensively about Indian cuisine, it's history in the UK and his favourite curry. He was such a genuine guy and we were both ravenous by the time he left.Half an hour later we were sat unprepared for what I can only say was the most sumptuous curry I had ever tasted. I'd always erred on the side of caution, choosing korma mainly, but tonight the heat was on and my mind exploded with the fusion of so many herbs and spices I literally realised there and then what a good curry should taste like.Many thanks guys

Used to visit here all the time but haven't been for a while. Food was very very good - couldn't fault it at all. In my humble opinion, by far the best Indian food in Hitchin. The waiter was very attentive and gave good advice on choosing suitable dishes.Can thoroughly recommend the Naga King Prawn Achanock & Garlic Naan

Easily the best Indian restaurant in Hitchin. The chicken chat is gorgeous as is the chicken tikka tawa. We eat here and have deliveries from here quite regularly, it is always excellent. The staff are really friendly and there is a good wine list.
