Just had a Chicken Tikka Naga takeaway from here and it was 100%

My grandad said its as good as 99% of Indians he has had and far better than most good size portions great staff very polite and he has been eating Indians for over 60 years, delicious food very much enjoyed.

I always order from here as the quality and taste of food is consistent every time.

the best Indian food in clacton/Frinton, have tried other places ,but none is in comparison to star of India, if they are not available when im going to order, then I now have fish and chip rather than go anywhere else. I've had the best now I skip the rest .

Very tasty - more spicy than your average takeaway, which was a pleasant surprise, and not swimming in oil! We ordered several starters which were enough for two good sized meals, making it good value for money as well. The chilli mushrooms were a hit in this house! Will definitely order from here again.

Orderd a Tandoori mixed grill was not very warm wont be ordering from this place again i been to many indian restaurants and takeaways this one was my worsed experience.

Received an email yesterday from the Star of India advising code for 15% discount if an order for a take away is placed online and yet when i just tried to use it, i was advised that its no longer valid!!!! Why bother sending an email offering a discount if you can't use it? Not impressed.

Everything was good apart from the daal soup which was watery with not a lot of flavour

Best curry I've ever tasted, I had to order from somewhere else for 2 months as star of India was not taking orders gor some reason, u tried 3 different places and none of them was as nice as this place, will not go anywhere else for curry

The second meal in a row that wasn’t nice, this time it was the chewy stringy chicken tikka, no mint sauce, greasy rice and a naan bread that tasted stale, last week it was the lack of king prawn in the jalfrezi, greasy rice, no mint sauce with tikka items and watery sauces….. two weeks in a row that most of it has gone in the bin. It’s gone downhill and I won’t be re ordering from them again.

Beautiful tasty food. Wasn’t worried it took longer than planned. Gave me extra mint sauce for the salad they forgot to put in! (Should have come with Tandoori dish). Bit disappointing but nice food.

I’ve never left a review before, even when I’ve had a particularly negative experience. But our food was so bad, I couldn’t not accept JustEat’s request to write a review. I’ve never, ever, eaten chicken so tough and rubbery. My wife could hear my teeth sinking through the meat from across the table. It also tasted really quite odd, unlike any chicken I’ve eaten before. It was the same for the starter, which we couldn’t eat. The korma tasted unlike any korma I’ve eaten in the last 30 years and was actually really spicy, so again, it couldn’t be eaten. The masala sauce was also not good, tasting like anything other than a masala sauce. I now have £30 less in my bank account, a bin full of Indian food and sicky feeling in my stomach from that chicken 🤢

Arrived early, I’m used to the Indian in Brentwood and brick lane. Let’s put it this way it matches the restaurants there perfectly

Food is always amazing from here, our favourite Indian in Frinton. Fish special is soooo good, everything is always super flavourful and cooked perfectly, can’t say a bad word.

Small portions. Ordered a mixed grill for £15 and got barely anything was supposed to be chicken and lamb but was basically a little bit of chicken. Why don’t you get chips/rice with it? Shocking! Chips were dry. Rice is always nice. Not happy today this place is usually good!!

There was 6 bits of lamb in my curry ALL were inedible, either rock hard or just pure fat, was really disappointed.

Dhansak was tasteless heat. No sweet and sour flavour you expect from a dhansak, just a base gravy flavour with a dry chilli powder heat. Very disappointing.

Always gave positive reviews as deserved but unfortunately tonight’s was really disappointing and tasteless. Appreciate it may have been a one off but am only saying how it is as I did with good reviews. Hopefully better next time

Fantastic as always ! My great grandparents used to live in Frinton, and go to the Star of India when it was a restaurant, and my grandparents now too. We are now treating our daughter to her first Indian and she loves it. 5 generations of family coming to this restaurant over the years, and it never disappoints. Non greasy, fantastic quality and service and personally one of the best takeaways around. Always recommend

Food arrived 30 minutes late, called restaurant and was told my contact number didn’t work (although I was calling from the same number). When food eventually arrived it was cold and extremely undercooked. Overall disappointing experience.

I lived in India. I have had the food in the country it is from. I lived all over the globe. This is the WORST Food period I have ever had. Saag paneer...filled with sugar? I called the restaurant and informed them, they said "I ordered wrong." I'm not from the UK..if this is how you like Indian food, with a bucket of sugar...this is the place for you. If you want to eat Indian food...find another restaurant. 25 pounds for the worst food I've truly ever eaten.

Got told my food was on its way numerous times, then to be told after waiting an hour that it’s been delivered but to a different address. Been waiting nearly 2 hours now.

Indian food is never cheap, but this is absolutely superb

Food arrived cold, for something that I spent £24 on you’d think it’d actually arrive hot, the potatoes were soggy, the naan was as wet as mud after a storm and the chicken was more dry than the Sahara dessert. Definitely won’t be ordering from here again.

Gutted - because relatives swayed us to choose Star of India over British India and Mossla as been more pro them over last few years. Lamb was tough and not very tasty. Just all a bit bland. A shame.

Really nice food! Had one item missing but it was a drink and easily refunded. Packaging is a little annoying (cardboard and foil). Makes it harder to save food for the next day as its so flimsy and not really re-useable.

I’m used to Indian from Brick lane and from Brentwood. Trying find a decent Indian, thought I try this one The food was very nice indeed. I will definitely order from here again my son also enjoyed it as well

The lamb was so chewy I could not swallow any of it. I basically paid to eat the sauce. You cannot charge this price for meat you cannot eat
