Zaai indian restaurant in Thurrock

Went for a sunday buffet, food was bland and tasteless, wouldnt give clean plates so had to scrape unwanted food onto a plate in the middle of the table, ordered kids 3 cokes wich were poured from a bottle wich was flat, the kids didn't say anything so i only relised when i had a sip 2 large cokes £9.00, front of house man was rude when asked to remove cost of drinks....wont be going back anytime soon

Buffet was rubbish not much choice for kids or adults to be honest an one of the staff members is unbelievably rude and very close to having quite word outside the way he spoke infront of my kids

Wednesday nite - well done to Zaals ! Superb meal topped off with the best ever dessert...... not on the menu but when i handed our great waiter a personalised banana with a request fritter ak( please please) could i have some fritters, the chef sent back a plate of stunning fritters Oh.My.Goodness they were soooo good !! thank you so much for all the cooking to achieve a memorable meal,

Absolutely amazing! We got take out so rated 4 on atmosphere as it seemed full and lively. Food is the best I’ve ever had from an Indian, and I’ve tried them all in the Stanford le hope, corringham area. Well priced. Ready for collection when stated and amazing food. Plus 10% off if ordered before 7pm - 7 days a week. I can’t quite put into word how delicious the food was and not greasy! Complimentery beer on collection too. Will 💯 be back!

Visited in October for Sunday buffet, which was good. Went back recently to dine off a la carte menu. Food was lovely friendly staff and efficient service. Will definitely go back again, very soon.

I can't fault fault any aspect of our evening here. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. The waiters' service was attentive without being in your face and spot on. The price adequately reflected the quality of the whole night.

We have been to this restaurant 3 times now. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We went for the Sunday buffet on this occasion and there was a very good choice of dishes all of which were cooked to perfection. We were a party of 6, 4 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 2 and they provided chips for the children at no extra cost and only charged for 1 child's meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

A group of 12 of us enjoyed the Wednesday Banquet- good food and value for money. They were busy so it was a bit noisy but service was good and we got what was ordered in good time... not too long a wait but not rushed either.

We couldn't think of where to go, and my brother recommended this restaurant, and what a delight it was. I went with a friend and firstly ordered a few poppadoms that were combined with a nice selection of sauces. I then had the Chicken Tikka starter that was tasty, followed by the Chicken Pathia. Now I'm a bit of connoisseur when it comes tot he Pathia and there aren't many restaurants that get the balance right. It was awesome here, and probably the best that I've had in a restaurant. The cost was a bit more than an average indian restaurant and came to more than £70 for the two of us. That included a couple of large bottles of beer each, which is probably where most of the cost is. I will definitely return though, that chicken Pathia was something else.

Fantastic restaurant. We go on a Sunday where they have the buffet which is a set price per person but you can eat as much as you like .Lots of lovely dishes available - 8 dishes including naan breads, 2 kinds of rice, tandoori chicken wings, deep fried prawns, potato saag, chicken tikka masala and other mouth watering curry dishes. Staff really friendly. Lively atmosphere In restaurant. Very clean. Great place to dine.

Booked a table for 2 happened to be on a Wednesday buffet night! Shown a tiny table in centre of restaurant, wouldn't let us use a table for 4 even though booked. They couldn't be arsed won't be going back and won't be ordering takeaways .. Bikesh is better value and friendlier.

Food was nice, minimal menu what is better than other local Indian takeaway/reaturant as when there is too many dishes on the menu they don't taste as nice.

Food OK but drinks rubbish 1/2 lime and FLAT soda £3.50p daylight robbery. Stuck to bottle beer, they can't mess about with that.

I visited on a Weds night and tried the banquet offer £12 for a starter, main, side dish and rice or Nan bread and found the food amazing. Good portions, freshly cooked and authentic Friendly service the restaurant was busy with many regulars by the look of things I recommend the restaurant give it a go you won’t be disappointed

I will rate the food 5 stars, but given this place a 1 star due to the way the front of house staff Claire was treated, when we first got there she was rushing around to serve drinks even though they was not that busy, when she see us and said I'll be with you shortly I replied no problem take your time. We was shown to our table within a 2 minutes. While at our table a customer come in to bring back a take away as they were dissatisfied with it. The manager on site called the owner to say what had happened, to which the call was passed onto Claire. During the remaining part of the evening the manager had gone out the back on 2 other occasions to call the owner to which at one time Claire took the call outside and I could see how distressed she getting while on the call. When 2 customers come not long before 9pm when Claire was due to leave shortly, again the owner got called as she said that she could not stay after 9pm. Claire was the only one that was working tonight that knows how to use the till the owner needs to teach all staff how to use it. Claire you deserve more respect than you received tonight from management and I hope you managed to drink your vodka (after work)

Very disappointed. Tiny tables - no room for 4. Uncomfortably cramped. Very loud / rowdy table on an early thur eve. ruined the evening & no intervention from staff to control guests. Couldn’t hear ourselves think. Not a Karen - but this was just silly. Massively overpriced in exchange for a poor evening. 4 small pieces of salmon for £13. Not acceptable. Won’t be going again - even tho close to home & have seen all the curry houses in the area for 20 years.

I order from Zaal probably once a monge sometimes more and go for meals there. I picked my Indian up tonight and my 8 year old daughter loves poppadoms but only with the mango sauce, every time I go in there for my takeaway I ask if she can have a pot and they have always put a pot in! Today however the man said no she can’t have one as you have to pay extra! The amount of money I have spent in that restaurant you would think a few table spoons of mango wouldn’t be any trouble but obviously was. So will will the last time I go in there.

I would like to request all customers please don't ever visit this Indian restaurant. They always sell dirty foods and 7 days ago pre crooked food. That's why they got only 1 star from health. They always make unhygienic food. 2 weeks ago I found an insect in my food. It was really dreadful.

I've had various dishes recently, disappointed with the flavour, Biriani was just rice and meat not taste at all, veg curry was like gravey, not much veg, maybe a different chef, or maybe was unlucky, as in past have enjoyed, but will not be going back in a hurry.

Terrible service waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for a 50 minute order time and staff still didn't know when the order would be ready. 20+ customers waiting for food zaal you got to greedy tonight.

I am extremely picky with Indian restaurants and struggle to find one that ticks all the boxes for me. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in the area if not the best I’ve ever had! From sauces to mains food was cooked beautifully soft good quality meats would definitely recommend this restaurant I will not be eating from any other Indian! Not sure how this restaurant has received bad reviews it is quality food!

What as gone wrong with this place, the food is awful, they add more food to you're order and charge you, we had a bad takeaway a few weeks ago and just put it down to a one off, but last nights was even worse, 70% went in the bin, sorry but I won't be back anymore.

I visited Zaal with my partner, it was a first for us and we’ll definitely go back. I had prawn purée for starters which was full of flavour followed by chicken tikka masala, the sauce was thick and creamy with tender pieces of chicken. The service was good and the waiters very friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

Popular small Indian restaurant and takeaway. Good quality food politely served in a spotless establishment. Average prices, parking close to the restaurant can be a problem but there is a large car park a few minutes away.

Love this place and been there more than once. Staff are very attentive without being overbearing. Food is served hot and tasty, with a wide variety of dishes to meet all needs. Price are very reasonable in light of the facts. I had the rezala, which was sweet and full of meat, with pilau rice for the main course accompanied by mushroom bhaji and garlic narn bread. This was part of an offer for about twelve pounds on a Wednesday. Well worth trying and enjoying.

Felt very sick after ordering this unfortunately. Usually a good meal tho.

We went toan Indian restaurant for a birthday meal... we was approached by a staff worker asking “how many papadams would you like” so seeing as there was 10 of us we agreed to have 20.... so we ate our food and asked for the bill... to see we have been charged £14 for papadams and £2.50 for each tray for the sauce!! So we argued against this... and said this is unfair this is not on the menu... the manager had said it’s on the menu...Then we went on and said papadams come free with the sauces and yeah we understand you do have to pay extra if more ordered... the manager explain that you get a couplefree when curry’s are ordered... so us doing our maths... we had 4 curry’s which would lead to 10 papadams free, which the manager of zaa could not clearly do his maths, and told us we had to pay the £14 for papadam’s and £5 for the sauce... the manager went on stating that this is in the menu... so I got the menu out and checked there is nothing in there stating that you have to pay£2.50 for each tray off sauce along with the papadam’s that should of been included!!! This is diabolical absolutely disgusting.... this is an Indian restaurant in corringham called ZAA.... I want to spread the word to get it back to them how disgusting they have mis-placed this... I have never been to an Indian restaurant where you have to pay for all the papadam’s which should be included aswell as the sauces that are always included in this... If you have 1 papadam or 40 papadam!!! Complete rip off!!!! 😡😡🤬🤬

Just ordered from the take away menu Chicken tikka Dansak Chicken korma Onion Bargee Lemon rice Naan bread I can honestly say this was the best meal I’ve ever eaten. Well done Zaal’s.👍

I don't like to leave negative reviews so I'll mix this up with the positives. Takeaway - food was really good. But waited an HOUR in the restaurant waiting area without being pre warned about the waiting time. Was given a couple of free beers to compensate.

As usual we had a really nice meal, tasty, with good service. But when it came to dessert - big disappointment. Bananas, a basic ingredient -they did'nt have any !! so my favourite - banana fritters, off the menu !!! awh and I left room for them.............

Best Indian in Stanford/Corringham by a long way. Different to the normal slop you get everywhere else. Obviously best to eat in but nice takeaway too.
